Bad Moon Rising

A deep and long sigh escaped her as she looked up, her gaze meeting the light of the moon. Rolling her neck she heard the bones crack as she groaned slightly, running a hand through her hair. Slowly she let the sounds around her begin to fade back in. The highway in the distance, the rustling leaves of the trees within the ravine below Darren's house, the voices and words of people conversing in the backyard, all the music and party sounds coming from the basement, even small subtle noises like the flicking of a lighter or someone popping open a beer. Eventually she heard loud footsteps approaching her, a voice calling her name, it was distinct and loud; glancing over her shoulder she could see the top of Summer's head. Grabbing another cigarette she lit it up and raised her hand. "I'm over here!" She called out to her best friend before standing up and adjusting her pants. Turning around to meet those honey brown eyes she smiled and started walking towards Summer. "How did the drunk talk go?" She asked with a chuckle before exhaling some smoke.
