  • The Lifewave, it is the force of nature which connects all living things in this world. Extensive research has been conducted on the Lifewave for many generations, and it is currently known that up to six different stages of the Lifewave exist, from the Primordial (1st) stage to the Senary (6th) stage. Depending on which stage of the Lifewave living beings are attached to when they are born, they are granted varying levels of cognitive and physical capabilities.

Your average human being or animal will be born attached to the 1st to the 3rd stage of the Livewave, but there are indeed many exceptions to this.
Mystics, soothsayers, psychics; all of the people who possess these kinds of supernatural powers are almost always born attached to the Tetrad (4th) stage of the Lifewave. The most powerful people among this group of supernaturals are sometimes born attached to the Quinary (5th) wave, but these are quite rare. When someone is born attached to the Senary (6th) wave, however, it is considered nothing short of a miracle, and these people and animals are viewed by society as being sacred; no different from a holy person.

The Senary wave was long thought to be the pinnacle of the Lifewave, but unforeseen events have begun to challenge and place doubt on this long held perception about the Lifewave.
In recent years, children have been born who possessed abilities that surpassed even those who were born attached to the Senary wave. Naturally, these children have been cast into the spotlight as this new ripple in the Lifewave was being noticed for the first time. These children were able to control, manipulate, and produce flames from their bare hands, run at blinding speeds; truly bend the laws of physics, nature, and gravity. The people possessing these amazing powers had no harbinger to announce that children all over the world now possess abilities that put those who were once regarded as holy people to shame; they were just simply popping up here and there. This group of people would eventually be referred to as "adepts".

It was determined that these people simply could not have been born on the Senary wave, and was thus determined that these adepts were part of an uncharted territory of the Lifewave; a new apex which would become known as the Septimal (7th) wave.

In the beginning, adepts represented barely a negligible part of the population, and for the most part, were able to coexist with everyone without too much strife. However, as the number of adepts began to grow, the world began to fall into complete chaos and disarray; with the exception of one small country.

Many nations began persecuting adepts once they realized their destructive potential, but when push came to shove, they really did not know how to handle the new challenges that emerged due to the presence of adepts. However, a small island nation in Asia seemed to have it all figured out, and despite the presence of adepts, consistently maintained peace and order.

A massive conglomerate known as the Sumeragi Group, which controlled everything from the power companies to the media, were the de facto rulers of the island nation. They are also responsible for conducting all of the nation's research on adepts, and quickly found themselves at the forefront of all research on both the Septimal wave and adepts. Sumeragi's research began to produce results faster than anyone had expected, and before long, they were receiving support from all over the world.

Consequently, people began to speculate on whether Sumeragi had some sort of prior knowledge of adepts before their arrival, or if the emergence of adepts was caused by some new type of virus created by Sumeragi. However, that was only the tip of the iceberg. Before long, those who stood against and criticized Sumeragi were silenced. Resistance became a death knell for those who attempted it, and thus the people were coming to grips with the fact that the Sumeragi Group was in control.

Despite Sumeragi's shady and questionable practices, people feared that in order to keep them safe from the perceived threats of adepts, they had no choice but to accept Sumeragi's way of doing things.
As time went on and Sumeragi's iron grip on the world of adepts continued, the birth rate of adepts began to increase each year, but for now, on the surface, an era of peace in the small island nation continued…
  • Glaives are Sumeragi-issued contraptions that can contain an adept's septimal power—the septimosome. Once released, the septimosome will fuse with its respective owner to grant septimal abilities. The fusion induces a noticeable body change in the adept user, indicating that the use of glaives artificially augments septimal abilities beyond their normal capacities. One of the first glaives was created by the deceased Dr. Kazimono.

Sumeragi uses glaives as a method to control adepts, as they cannot access the power of a glaive without permission from Sumeragi. In exchange, such adepts are made into commanders of Sumeragi's forces, and enjoy a life of general luxury.
Although it is stated that an adept with a glaive cannot use their septimal powers without activating said glaive, it is revealed that adepts still can use their abilities to a degree without using their glaive, though doing so places stress on the body.

Currently, these Glaives are the only means for an adept to repress their powers and live a normal life. However, there is much that is still unknown about adepts, so it is still too early to tell if these Glaives will become a boon for adepts, or a disaster waiting to happen…
  • Naturally, not all persons are fans of adepts or pleased with their existence. Many human beings despise the adepts either because of their unfair advantage in life or because they have lost loved ones to reckless and murderous adepts. As a result, several human beings have managed to acquire Glaives on the black market and made it their occupation to hunt down adepts. Adept slayers are not, however, limited to just humans. Adepts sometimes take it upon themselves to hunt down other adepts for their own reasons ranging from vengeance to financial gain
  • QUILL (Quorum for Unrestricted Information, Law, and Liberty) is an armed resistance group, formed by a coalition of various foreign human rights groups who protested Sumeragi's treatment of Adepts. They utilize guerrilla tactics and subtle warfare to liberate adepts and undermine the Sumeragi group. They are also charged with putting down dangerous Adepts who pose a threat to law and order. QUILL employs several Adept assassins to carry out their missions, but they also employ normal humans. These humans are equipped with the most updated weapons from glaives to anti-tank guns. QUILL will serve as the main protagonist in this chapter.

  • A very rare occurrence is taking place. The world has long gotten used to the existence of Adepts. So much so that they have forgotten that the Septimal Wave is not restricted to only humans alone. A tree has sprung up in the far reaches of the world. A tree which is connected to the Septimal Wave. Nicknamed the Tower of Fate, this tree has spread it's roots around the world, beneath the surface, where it has remained undetectable until only just recently. The tree has slowly been draining all the energy from the earth. If the Tower of Fate is not destroyed quickly, the world as we know it will face a cataclysm. QUILL has deployed a task force to travel to this tree and end the countdown to destruction before the earth is lost and all life along with it. Little do they know, Sumeragi is watching, and they have their own plans for the Tower of Fate.
  • The R.P is set in a very technologically advanced world and so much of the modern equipment is far more advanced than their predecessors. The equipment which will be used through the course of the game are listed below. (Note- Glaives can take the form of any piece of equipment, from swords to shields, to guns. It's completely up to the user

Name: Mirabel Bailey Caldra

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Species: Adept

Appearance: Mirabel stands at 5'2" and is overweight, her figure especially thick around her stomach and thighs. Her long reddish brown hair reaches to her butt while her amber eyes behind her thick rimmed glasses take in the text she's reading. Her teeth are straight thanks to her retainer. When she smiles, she creates dimples at the corner of her mouth and she has a permanent one on her double chin. She usually wears pale colored skirts and brightly colored t-shirts. If it's cold out, she puts on a black jacket with fur on the collar. She either wears red sandals or green shoes depending on the day, temperature, and weather.

Septima Name: Library

Septimal Abilities: The ability to manipulate books and paper with text on them. She can make them move at her whim. Novels, dictionaries, textbooks, it doesn't matter. If it has text and it's on paper, she can move, bend, do all kinds of manipulation with it. Even one word entries on paper can be manipulated. She can also memorize any kind of text she's read, this extends to electronic texts.

Organization: QUILL

Glaive: N/A

Weapons: She carries around a very thick book, her favorite to read, and notebooks that are empty, in case she needs to rip out a sheet, write on it, and use that to give people papercuts. If she has other books on her, she'll use those as weapons as well.

Personality: Mirabel is fantasy oriented and an avid reader. She usually has her nose in a book, always carrying one whether it be at home, school, or the library. Most would think that her looks would make her not have many friends, but that's not the case. She has great friends and a bit more than a social circle can have. She's a cheerful girl, and a forgiving one. No one can really make her mad, but she can have down episodes when something bad happens, like losing a friend or finding out others were talking behind her back. Mentioning Sumeragi is a good way to make her show a flash of irritation before going back to her cheerful state and changing the subject. Considering she's an adept, she's all for adepts having a normal life and not be used as weapons of war or experimentation. Yeah, she believes that shady stuff happens.

Brief History: Mirabel was always a slow learner. She was slow to talk, slow to walk, slow to read. But even at a young age, she loved a good story. She would quiet down and listen intently whenever her parents said, "It's story time!" And when she was about to go to bed, she begged her parents to tell her a bedtime story.

It was a little later that Mirabel learned about books. It was an instant hook. She would pore over any book she could get her hands on, giggling to herself as she flipped through each page. The words had power over her, opening up her imagination to fantasy. Of course, that was also when her power awoken.

She was reading a book when one of the bullies at her school snatched it away from her. She screamed and threw a tantrum as they laughed. And then suddenly, the book was flying and kept smacking the bullies face. Needless to say, everyone freaked out and she, along with the bully, was sent to the principal's office. They both said they didn't know what happened, though the principal had a feeling she knew what was going on. When her parents came over to pick her up, she asked them to stay a while. Worried that their daughter was in trouble, they sat down with her and explained the situation. Maribel was asked to move the book from the principal's hand into her own. She eagerly did so, and that was the day her parents found out she was an adept.

It wasn't just books, Mirabel learned. She could also manipulate paper with text on them. She found that out when her mom was paying the bills and she wanted to see what she was doing. The envelope flew into her hand and she dropped it in surprise. Slowly she learned what kinds of things can move at her whim and how to control it. It made her feel special, but the younger kids in her grade school stayed away from the weird girl.

She kept her mouth shut about what she could do as she was rising to middle school. She didn't want to attract attention, because she might never see them again. At least, that's the feeling she got from all of that. She made many friends through her middle and high school years and she was enjoying life to the fullest.

When she hit 16, a couple of her friends invited her over to a "special place" they were going to. Curious, she went and was introduced to the organization QUILL. It turned out that some of her friends were adepts too, hiding in plain sight while keeping a tight lid on their power. She didn't know an organization existed that supported adepts like her, and she was more than happy to learn all about it. And to do that, the quickest way would be joining their cause. One thing didn't change, though, she was still a slow learner.

Weaknesses: She isn't very good at fighting and the best attack she could do is either hit someone in the head with a book or use thousands of papers and surround the person in a paper storm. Her power can't use paper that has nothing written on it so if she needs to use her notebooks to fight, she has to write something in it in order to manipulate it. Other than her books, she doesn't own a weapon.

Name: Leo Umbra
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Species: Adept/ Quinary
Appearance:
photo_04_hires.jpg

  • 5' 8"
  • 160 lbs
Organization: Independent/ Adept Slayer
Glaive Name:
Kitsunegari
josh-rife-final-02.jpg

Glaive Ability:
  • pyrokinesis
    • Allows for her to fire explosive shots at a high enough heat to melt through most substances. Limit 4 shots per activation before it overheats.
    • She can further control the resulting flames for a duration of time after the initial shots.
Other Weapons:
Standardized Pistol
PN9aL.jpg

  • Stun rounds: much like the now obsolete taser these artillery rounds are special made to deliver a temporary paralyzing jolt to the recipient
  • Hollow Point Rounds: Used only when necessary. More specifically they're used only when a more lethal and/or permanent wound is needed to disable or even kill a recipient

Personality:
  • Leo has a bad tendency to question the authority of others, and will often act out without considering the consequences that follow. Even so she does still possess the ability to work with others when necessary despite her hot-headed, and even reckless, nature. Though along with her short fuse shes also quick to speak her opinion about anything and everything without much of a filter.
Brief History:

At a young age Leo had lost her parents to a septimal adept that had gone berserk and lost control of their power. From that day onward the young girl had vowed to bring justice to the lives that the adepts had ruined. It didn't taken long for such a notion to be beaten out of her.

The streets weren't a kind place to grow up. No one was there to help you, and you either learned to survive or died trying. So alone, cold, and hungry Leo soon grew to hate the very adepts that she had once smiled upon.

She quickly learned how to steal just so she could eat and stay warm. She learned how to defend herself by being beaten down by those who would oppose her, and as her rage grew she started to fight back.

Now as an adult she got giddy from the adrenaline high, and justice meant nothing. Honor was just rust on a dull blade. So in order to survive you had to fight, and you lived by condemning others.

Weaknesses:
  • She cannot create fire from nothing her ability is strictly limited to the manipulation of flames
  • She is not very physically strong, which is why she uses stun rounds to drop her targets instead of brute force

Reboot this.

@Vivian
Tell him reboot this

I'd have to figure out a character, but I could definitely give it a shot.

I'm not sure I have much, though I'm tempted to take some sort of really weird power set like either gravity manipulation and creation of black holes, or possibly creating antimatter.

Beyond that, not sure on things, though the character would probably be either a free agent or working with QUILL after being rescued from a Sumeragi lab facility. No glaive, though maybe some sort of funny cybernetics or other stuff.

I, uh, I think it's dead.
