The Avengers are dead. The world is losing hope. HYDRA is thriving, running rampant with no one to stop them. But there are still those strong ones out there that can save the world from HYDRA's clutches. SHIELD, though weak and in hiding, is collecting superhumans yet again, and assembling a team to take down the organization.....once and for all.

They are not ready. Most need training. But they are strong willed. And the few remaining SHIELD agents are determined to get them running smoothly as a team, especially since they will be up against a powerful team within HYDRA, the Covert Division.

Let the rebellion begin.

  1. All Iwaku rules apply.
  2. One post a week at least is required. If you don't post within a week, I will PM you a reminder. If you don't answer that PM or post within three days, I will kill your characters or turn them into NPCs.
  3. 12 players MAX. 10 is preferred.
  4. This RP has a set plot beforehand with multiple arcs. However, I will consider player-generated arc ideas. Just PM me!
  5. I, the GM, control all NPCs and canon characters.
  6. Character death will be a thing if they do something stupid or you want them to die. As GM, I reserve the right to kill off your characters without consent (but I most likely won't be doing that).
  7. This is an Intermediate level RP. Two paragraphs minimum, well-developed sentences, and proper spelling and punctuation are a must.
  8. Try not to get into a long-term back and forth with yourself and another player. This hinders the progression of the RP. I don't mind a little bit of it, just don't clog the IC up with it. They are teams, after all. They should interact with everyone, if possible.
  9. When making a CS, make sure you don't steal anyone else's powers.
  10. Don't drop out without any warning. At least tell us!
  11. When making a CS, note that you cannot start roleplaying until I make it clear that you are accepted.

  15. Not really a rule, but I just wanted to say that for some reason the coding on this is going wacky with me. It keeps putting commands in that I didn't type. Therefore, one of my character sheets is always getting messed up. I am working on trying to fix this (but every time I edit it out and then save it, it comes back! I'm done with this stupid thing)! ....vent over. Move on.
• The SHIELD HQ is located in a secure facility in New York City. We will start out with all our SHIELD characters meeting and making friendships and possibly rivalries in that facility, as well as a few training sessions.
  
  The HYDRA HQ is the previously abandoned base located in Sokovia. Like SHIELD, it will begin with the characters of the Covert Division meeting and learning how to work together (training sessions apply here as well).
  
  Once a few training sessions have been completed and we have some friendships set in stone in both teams, I will make a GM post and initiate Arc 1.

    Luna tries to stay positive and is always looking for a way to make a pun or joke. However, she is deeply insecure, very afraid of hurting people, and ashamed of what she is. Though she loves making friends, she needs reassurance that they don't hate her and is often afraid that she might hurt them.
    
    Contradicting this personality is her dragon side. It is sadistic, violent, and does not hesitate to kill. It feels no remorse and will even turn on teammates and friends if the human side cannot keep it under relative control. Like the real Hulk, it is triggered by strong emotion.

    -She is left naked and vulnerable after shifting from dragon form.
    -She is very sluggish in the cold in either form.
    -She must eat more than the average human to keep her strength up.

    Luna was raised neglected by her family in the slums of LA. Her father was an alcoholic and her mother a drug addict. Luna would often have to steal money from them to buy clothes and other necessary items for school.
    
    She grew up with no idea what she was, but she did notice some differences from her peers. For one, she was angered much too easily. For another, she ate more than most of her peers did.
    
    One day, as she was walking home from school at the tender age of 13, she was attacked by a group of men with undisclosed intentions. That was the first time she shifted, her dragon form reacting to her fear to protect her. After killing the men and a few innocent bystanders, it flew away from California and hid in New York before giving Luna control again.
    
    She woke up with no idea where she was, only a vague idea of what had happened, and not understanding why she had no clothes on.
    
    Two years later, years full of coming to terms with what she was and a daily struggle to survive, and she was approached by SHIELD. At first, she was hostile and afraid of what may happen, but the organization was firm in their proceedings and tried to convince her in the most gentle way possible to come quietly.
    
    Eventually, she agreed, and is both nervous and excited about being part of a team. She hopes it will turn out to be like the family she never had.

She likes to study, especially when it's her subject of choice (biology) and enjoys the company of others (but not too much company). Preferring to be with a few, close friends rather than a rabble and disliking the spotlight, Rhiannon is the soft-spoken type who will only speak up when she feels she has something meaningful to contribute. She attempts to be empathetic and sympathetic but isn't someone to whom it comes naturally but her earnest nature often makes up in this regard.

'Hacking' - Rhiannon is not great with computers. She's not bad but she's no techno-wizard, at least by the terms of some software engineers, security specialists and vigilante hackers. This is where her ability shines, though, as she can directly interface with technology. She transcends the need to have knowledge and talent for altering computer software by breaking down the barrier between human and electronics; she's not entirely sure herself how to put it into words but likens it to merging with a component so that they are on the same level, as if it is no longer technology and she is no longer human.

'Brain fuddle' - yes, this is a technique, or use of her ability, that she has named herself. Simply put she emits a small, targeted electric shock into the brain of her chosen victim resulting in the electrical signals firing off through the neurons of the brain being interrupted, redirected or downright confused. This isn't something for erasing memories or altering them, she lacks the necessary finesse, understanding and control for such a task; more it's for removing a person's ability to control themselves or their thoughts. She can target specific parts of the brain, body or nervous system to cause numbness, confusion, temporary deafness/muteness/blindness, spasms and more.

'Enhancement' - all bodily functions, on some layer, run on electrical signals. Sometimes this starts, or stops, a chemical reaction that will result in an action by the body but the starting, stopping and controlling of the activity are all effected by electrical signals. Rhiannon can 'enhance' herself using her power for varying periods of time with different results. For example, she could speed up the firing of neurons in her brain to increase her thought processes although she is still coming to grips with this and could accidentally cause a negative reaction. Other uses would be increasing the release of adrenaline or the efficiency of muscle tension and relaxation and so improving her strength and/or speed. This is within relatively normal human limits; she can't become a super-genius in particle physics nor can she become stronger than the Hulk.

'Immunity' - perhaps not entirely apt but Rhiannon will not suffer from abnormal amounts of electricity pulsing through her body. If she were struck by lightning she would not become a pseudo-deity nor even escape completely unharmed but the damage would be much, much lesser than to a normal human. Tasers and other electricity-based weaponry are mostly ineffective and she can channel anything targeted away from the contact point to reduce its effectiveness.

Weaknesses (personality flaws do not count):

Knowledge - Rhiannon is, most of all, limited by her knowledge. Her power relies a lot upon interacting with technology and computers in which she is not an expert and so is limited in what she can do. Of course, she can hack through a security system in impressive time but no faster than an expert hacker and perhaps even slower than the best of them. When it comes to using her power on humans she is slightly better equipped, having been fascinated by biology and the human body for some time. Still, there is a great deal that top researchers don't know about the human body, especially the brain, let alone Rhiannon. She has a strange understanding about how electrical signals work in the body underpinned by a simple but firm knowledge of human biology but acts of extreme finesse in using her power on living things are beyond her.

Exhaustion - enhancement sounds like a wonderful thing but there are by-products of accelerating human bodily functions. She can keep up with skilled fighters but only because of her power, not because she has any innate skill or experience herself.

Her past is nothing to write a ballad about nor does it make for a great origin story. She was born to a married couple, both working stable jobs (mother a teacher, father a nurse) where they earned enough to get by plus a little extra. As the only child and only niece to several aunts and uncles she was not short of loving family as well as gifts and support for whatever she might wish to indulge in.

Thankfully, for her family most of all, she preferred to study and spend her money to this end with some on socialising rather than making extreme demands and becoming spoilt from the attention. Some of this may have been due to her rural Welsh background, a cultural identity that had a mild patience to it equal only to that of secluded monks. Her power manifested itself early but very quietly, mostly marked by an increase in static; the laundry detergent was blamed and so nothing much was made of this.

As she reached her mid teens the power began to grow as her body did and it became a difficult thing to hide. SHIELD noticed, she was indexed but allowed to continue her studies as she had no intention of indulging in the excessive use of her ability. After her school education and midway through her second year at university she was approached about perhaps working for SHIELD. The promise of high-tech toys and the chance to occasionally work alongside some spectacularly brilliant scientists won her over easily. That and the chance to do something actually, truly good.

'Immunity' - perhaps not entirely apt but Rhiannon will not suffer from abnormal amounts of electricity pulsing through her body. If she were struck by lightning she would not become a pseudo-deity nor even escape completely unharmed but the damage would be much, much lesser than to a normal human. Tasers and other electricity-based weaponry are mostly ineffective and she can channel anything targeted away from the contact point to reduce its effectiveness.

Weaknesses (personality flaws do not count):

Knowledge - Rhiannon is, most of all, limited by her knowledge. Her power relies a lot upon interacting with technology and computers in which she is not an expert and so is limited in what she can do. Of course, she can hack through a security system in impressive time but no faster than an expert hacker and perhaps even slower than the best of them. When it comes to using her power on humans she is slightly better equipped, having been fascinated by biology and the human body for some time. Still, there is a great deal that top researchers don't know about the human body, especially the brain, let alone Rhiannon. She has a strange understanding about how electrical signals work in the body underpinned by a simple but firm knowledge of human biology but acts of extreme finesse in using her power on living things are beyond her.

Exhaustion - enhancement sounds like a wonderful thing but there are by-products of accelerating human bodily functions. While Rhiannon can limit some of these, extended use of her power will exhaust her physically and/or mentally, depending on how she is using her power, and could even cause lasting damage if she pushes well beyond natural human boundaries or maintains increased performance for too long.

Training - Rhiannon has been training to be a scientist, specifically a biologist and then perhaps a teacher or a researcher (she still hasn't decided). What she hadn't been training to be was some kind of super spy or powerful warrior. While she can increase her physical abilities, and is in good shape by normal standards, she isn't a natural talent in combat and has received little training beyond some standard self-defence classes. She can keep up with skilled fighters but only because of her power, not because she has any innate skill or experience herself.

History:
Her past is nothing to write a ballad about nor does it make for a great origin story. She was born to a married couple, both working stable jobs (mother a teacher, father a nurse) where they earned enough to get by plus a little extra. As the only child and only niece to several aunts and uncles she was not short of loving family as well as gifts and support for whatever she might wish to indulge in.

Thankfully, for her family most of all, she preferred to study and spend her money to this end with some on socialising rather than making extreme demands and becoming spoilt from the attention. Some of this may have been due to her rural Welsh background, a cultural identity that had a mild patience to it equal only to that of secluded monks. Her power manifested itself early but very quietly, mostly marked by an increase in static; the laundry detergent was blamed and so nothing much was made of this.

As she reached her mid teens the power began to grow as her body did and it became a difficult thing to hide. SHIELD noticed, she was indexed but allowed to continue her studies as she had no intention of indulging in the excessive use of her ability. After her school education and midway through her second year at university she was approached about perhaps working for SHIELD. The promise of high-tech toys and the chance to occasionally work alongside some spectacularly brilliant scientists won her over easily. That and the chance to do something actually, truly good.

Would Rhiannon be so kind as to take charge of the maintenance of Cleave? I mean, he's as high tech as he could get (but will probably request for a program that would make him laugh and smile). :D

She could try I guess. She's not very good with tech but she might be better at communicating with him than, say, a hacker or software engineer.
