AVATAR: THE REBEL ARMADA (Character Sheets)

OOC

Welcome to the Character Sheets Thread! The title is pretty dang straightforward, isn't it? Listed below will be the general information that I will require each of you to fulfill for your CS's. And also, because I am an insomniac/overachiever, I also took the liberty of briefly describing what certain categories entail and their limitations. You may format it however you wish, as long as it's easy to follow and suits your tastes.
Stay wonderful and bombard me with your creative characters!

Photo: (Must be realistic--no cartoon or anime depictions please)

Name:

Age:

Gender:

Appearance: (Optional/ This is where you can provide any extra details about their appearance, whether it be a short paragraph or set of secondary images--yes, these can be cartoon or anime based)

Bender or Non-Bender:

Element: (If Bender)

Martial Art Influence: (Optional/ Each form of bending was influenced by a certain martial art style, feeding into the authenticity of AtLA's fight scenes. Thus, I am giving you the option of choosing a martial art that heavily exhibits how your character fights during battle. However, if you choose this option, I ask that you provide a Youtube clip of some sort showcasing your decision. The links below may help you to find a starting point.
List of Chinese Martial Arts
List of Japanese Martial Arts)

Weapons of Choice: (Each character is allowed a maximum of 2 weapons. A bow and arrows only count as 1 weapon. Of course, you have the other option of not carrying any weapons whatsoever.)

Personality: (Go ahead. Write a personality. Make me swoon...or gag in disgust. Whatever floats your boat.)

History: (Let your creativity flow! In the history provided, I intentionally only highlighted major events. And a good handful of them, at that. No part of the history and geography is off limits--including Fire Nation. So, if you wish to create a character originally from Fire Nation but now fighting alongside Rebel Armada, that is perfectly acceptable. Take what I have splayed out and play around with it. Was your character there as child during The Coal War? Or did you perhaps lose loved ones to the horrific public burning? Or maybe something else entirely? The world--the Avatar world, anyways--is your oyster! As long as it leads up to the character seeking to join Rebel Armada's Special Squadron, you're good to go!)

Name: General Huang Fong Xu

Age: 42

Gender: Male

Appearance: Standing at a height of 5'9" and weighing approximately 185 lbs, General Fong Xu carries an athletic yet solid build, his tan skin rough and damaged by years of exposure. Heavy bags rest underneath his eyes, which grow more pronounced as stress stains his being to the bone. His facial hair is currently a matted mess, resting just above the collar bone, and equally as tangled as his mass of jet black hair. Despite his grim appearance, his eyes are constantly focused and warm, as if he's reading you inside out with a single glance.

Bender or Non-Bender: Non-Bender

Element: N/A

Martial Art Influence: Tong Bei Quan

Weapons of Choice: 2 shortswords

Personality: General Fong Xu possesses wisdom forcefully passed onto him by the hands of war. He has seen a number a deaths so high that he lost track nearly a decade ago, and whatever deaths he see today are no less easier for him to bare. When he adopts a crew of soldiers under his wing, he vows to protect him with every iota of will power in his body; to witness the downfall of those same people will always strike a deep chord with him. On top of his deep care, General Fong Xu has incredible patience, often posing as the one to settle conflict among the ranks and arrange fair negotiations. His dry sense of humor helps to smooth things over as well. His other strengths reside in his navigational and combative skills (hand to hand and swordsmanship).

History: Huang was born and raised in the upper rings of Ba Sing Se, mostly sheltered from the horrors unfolding outside of city walls. The Fong Xu family are composed of generation after generation of wealth, along with a lengthy history of military excellence. Being the eldest of three children, Huang was expected to join the Rebel Armada and bring glory to the Fong Xu name; however, he had no intentions of putting his life on the line, not even for freedom. In his eyes, as long as he and his loved ones were sheltered by those massive walls, there was no need to foolishly throw himself into the crossfire.

Upon realizing that Huang would remain stubborn in his ways, his family demanded their second son (and youngest of the three) would take Huang's place in the Battalion, while Huang was set on the course for an arranged marriage. He objected to this, as he (and he alone) knew that his youngest brother's lover (Wan Lei) was pregnant with child. His brother had yet to reveal the news because the woman was a peasant and of significantly lower class. In the end, Huang's brother died within weeks of battle and Wan Lei was left without a father to help raise their unborn child. Wrought with guilt, Huang briefly spiraled into a pit of drunken despair, mooching off of others and gambling away his wealth. Once he hit rock bottom, he sought out the only person who still had an iota of compassion left for him--his dead brother's lover.

Of course, she refused to simply lend him money. Instead, she hired him for manual labor and sanitation duty around her bakery. It was small and somewhat dingy, but it reeled in a decent amount of customers around the clock. Huang was forced to face up to his mistakes, alcoholism, and gambling addiction during his time there, all while forming a genuine friendship with the woman. Six months into Wan Lei's pregnancy and three months since quitting his addictions, Huang decided to join the Rebel Armada after all and honor his brother's name. His family was ecstatic. However, Huang said he would only do so on one condition--taking care of Wan Lei and her child's financial needs whenever she asked. They accepted with massive reluctance.

Thanks to Huang's family name and prestige, he had a high position in the rankings rather quickly, but put in a back-breaking amount of effort into earning the title as General. His first major assignment as General was to lead the covert fleet into Gooling and free prisoners of Fire Nation clutches. However, the ambush failed and the public burning of ten innocent families had torn him asunder. He withdrew his men from battle, leaving behind stubborn soldiers in the belly of discord, and wallowed in mourning. Huang didn't pull himself together until the fall of the Earth Kingdom Base, reminded that he had a duty to uphold and, more importantly, a new family member to return home to.

However, he lost more and more contact with Wan Lei as the years passed and war with Sekitan peeked over the horizon. Less and less letters were written, as more blood stained his armor and memories. He had all but forgotten his life back at home and time passed faster than he could blink.

Until his niece showed up at the gates of camp as a member of his special squadron.

Name: Kazuo aka "Kazu" (No family name)

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Appearance: Kazu is at a height of 6'1" and weighs approximately 170 lbs, sporting an athletic and chiseled build. His physique is hidden beneath layers upon layers of robes that he had randomly gathered during his travels. He attempted to stick to a cohesive color palette--beige, brown, etc.--but he couldn't avoid the Fire Nation red, no matter how hard he tried. Plus, it helped him sneak past Fire Nation eyes. His black hair is short with spiked tips smoothed down over his forehead...which is pointless to do because they always spring back up in a matter of hours.

Bender or Non-Bender: Bender

Element: Water

Martial Art Influence: Shaolin Da Hong Quan

Weapons of Choice: None

Personality: Goofy, loving, and not the brightest kid around. Kazu is not exactly one for educated guesses, analytical logic or strategy. All of that thinking and complexity only succeeds in wearing him down and coming out of it with nothing. Thus, he'll gladly play the role of support on a team, as long as the leader tells him what to do in simple words. Kazu is also quite persistent once he bonds with someone, as others rarely give him the time of day for it to happen. However, once you've earned a spot in his heart, you're there forever, no matter what. Having Kazu as a companion guarantees unending loyalty and a 24-hour venting service. He might not be the best with words, but his listening skills more than make up for it.

On the downside, Kazu has a few...quirks. Strange quirks. Such as sleeping outside whenever it rains, playing with people's hair, veering off topic and relaying random stories, counting something every night before bed, and so and so forth. He's also submissive to a fault, giving everyone plenty of opportunities to walk over him.

giphy.gif

History: Kazu's life was rather eventful.

Hailing from the Northern Water Tribe, but born in the Earth Kingdom Base. Unfortunately, his year of birth was the same year Fire Nation attacked and renamed the area as Kasai Village. Soldiers raided each home one by one, dragging the young and able-bodied away to be sold into a life of physical labor. Kazu's parents were also victims of the kidnapping, ripped away from their infant and loaded onto ships that transported them straight to Gooling Prison. Meanwhile, infants were shipped to training camps dispersed throughout Kasai Village and the conquered land around it, where Fire Nation converted them into loyalists. They were expected to join the Fire Nation Army at the age of 13, 15 at the absolute latest.

However, Kazu did not respond well to Fire Nation training. He was constantly at the bottom of the ranks and scored poorly on many physical evaluations, even worse on battle strategies and military tactics. He showed no signs of bending as well. All in all, they rated Kazu's potential at zero, even with hypothetical assistance from their secret artifact. Thus, they deemed him unworthy of Fire Nation glory and shipped him to Gooling Prison at the age of 14.

Despite the grim turn of events and outright rejection, Kazu felt hopeful. He would finally escape the camp from Hell and be surrounded by fellow misfits. Or "Rebel Scum"--as his instructors called them frequently. No matter how terrible of an image they painted of the prisoners, Kazu was excited to place himself in a different environment. Surprisingly enough, he adapted quickly to the prison lifestyle and eventually earned his inmates' hospitality, although they were initially suspicious of him and his apparent Fire Nation stain. In the end, his personality won out and he survived Gooling Prison for three years. During those 36 months, a man from the Southern Water Tribe named Kena befriended Kazu and taught him everything he knew--both culture and waterbending. To Kazu's surprise, he was a late bloomer but showed an immediate connection with the element of water. He understood waterbending on an intimate level. He was still terribly clumsy and a nitwit, but he was useful in battle.

It was later revealed that Kena was also a Rebel Armada soldier who was taken in during the Earth Kingdom Base raid. He and several other inmates made plans to escape with Kazu in tow. However, their attempt was partially successful in the fact that only Kazu escaped. The others were captured and dragged back to their cells, while the young waterbender was forced to tread alone with a bounty on his head. It was a few months later that he heard from a Rebel Armada platoon on the border that General Fong Xu was forming a special squadron, requesting the best of the best.

To Kazu, that was as good of a sign as any. It was his new purpose. A way into the Rebel Armada's good graces. A blessing.

Sign him up.

Name: Wei Fong Xu

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: Standing at a whopping height of 5'4" and weighing approximately 125 lbs, Wei is tiny package filled to the brim with ferocity. She sports a lithe and fit form, giving her advantage with speed and agility, but taking away from the power behind her unarmed strikes (which is fine--she has the giant flying rocks to help with that). Her one crooked tooth is only seen when she pulls the signature snarl, which, much to her dismay, somewhat dulls the intimidating aura she tries to exude. Her hair is a deep brown, borderline black, and falls in a thick curtain before coming to a stop at her shoulders.

Bender or Non-Bender: Bender

Element: Earth

Martial Art Influence: Fanzi Quan

Weapons of Choice: Halberd (Ji)

Personality: Wei's not a pleasant person to be around. She's rude and stand-offish, always prepared to hurl a boulder at the first individual to make her hackles rise. Once her temper is unleashed, it's difficult to bring it back down to ground zero. More than likely, one would need to physically restrain her, dodge her attacks until she's exhausted, knock her subconscious or appeal to her superiority complex. She has her own set of breathing exercises to prevent the fury from exploding but, even then, those around her should practice caution.

When Wei isn't on a killing spree, she is analytical and manipulative when necessary, especially through means of seduction. Give her a target, a list of questions to answer, and she'll slap on the sultry mask in a heartbeat. Of course, once she attracts her prey behind closed doors...the poor victim won't come out of that room walking. Wei has been scolded many times by her instructors that her great potential is wasted due to her attitude problem, but she refuses to let go of her hatred. Her heart is a pit of acid with an insecure child drowning beneath the surface.

giphy.gif

History: Wei's story doesn't begin with her birth, but with her mother--Wan Lei.

After Huang Fong Xu left to join the Rebel Armada, the Fong Xu family remained true to their word and helped Wan Lei financially. However, word of their involvement with "lowly peasants" had spread among the upper ring, bringing about ridicule and shame to the Fong Xu name. To rectify this problem, they reshaped their support of Wan Lei as a charitable cause, when in reality it was a publicity stunt to gain the community's favor and dawn the mask of philanthropists. Fortunately for them, their plan worked and they amplified their luck by legalizing Wan Lei's joining of the family, despite her lover being dead for months now. Thus, her name was changed to Wan Fong Xu.

When Wan gave birth to her son Chao Fong Xu, it was mere weeks before the failed prison break in Gooling. Wan attempted to reach out to Huang through letters and notify him of his nephew's birth, but she never received a response. She eventually gave up and focused on raising Chao, who was showing signs of illness and frail health. He frequently fell bed-ridden for weeks at a time and had to avoid physical exertion; regardless, he lived as normal of a childhood as he could while in the ear of war. By the time Chao was 8 years old, Wei had a second child, which she named Wei Fong Xu. However, Wei's father was a faceless mistake brought on by stress and impulsiveness, and he refused to acknowledge their nights together.

The Fong Xu family were repulsed by Wan's behavior and shunned Wei's existence entirely. Aside from sending the monthly allotment, they never brought themselves near the young girl. She faded into the background, ignored as her family showered Chao with gifts and attention. However, Chao's health worsened and he died of pneumonia at 11 years old. The Fong Xu lineage now fell upon Wei's shoulders, who was now far too disgusted with her family to accept this "privilege". She chose to rebel against their wishes at all costs and rejected arranged marriages thrown at her left and right.

Once again, letters were sent to Huang in hopes of asking him to sway the Fong Xu's agenda. Like before, they received no response. Fed up with his lack of communication and the pressure weighing her down, Wei joined the Rebel Armada. She wanted to prove to everyone that she wasn't born just to be a concubine or a Fong Xu trophy put on display. And she wanted to meet her so-called "Uncle Huang" face to face--and give him a piece of her mind.

giphy.gif

Other: She has a weakness for animals and soft textures. Worried that she'll blow up and break everything? Just place an armadillo puppy in her lap--she'll calm down in a snap.

Name: Soren

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Appearance: Soren stands at 5'9 with a relatively wiry figure, weighing just under 165 lbs. He has a fair complexion and black hair, kept somewhat long and usually worn in a ponytail so as to keep it out of his face. His eyes are a deep green. He normally wears robes of varying blues, most of them light in hue. He also carries a messenger bag over his shoulder to house whatever items he might be carrying with him.

Bender or Non-Bender: Bender

Element: Water

Martial Art Influence: Tai Chi

Weapons of Choice: Soren carries a saber on his back, should he happen to be unable to use his bending for any reason, as well as a gourd of water in a messenger bag he carries, should he be deprived of any in his surroundings.

Personality: Due to being sheltered by his father for most of his life, Soren is largely mild-mannered, naive and aloof. He grew up with the mentality that as long as he kept his head down trouble wouldn't be able to find him, and for the most part, that was correct. Generally, he prefers to avoid confrontation when possible. He's quick to apologize and tries his best to quell conflict between fellow rebels and friends whenever he sees trouble brewing between them. His naivety, combined with his generous nature, makes him more susceptible to being taken advantage of than others. He has no problem giving when asked and, unless he absolutely cannot, will do so often, even if it could be at his own expense.

Soren tends to get lost in his own train of thought, often overthinking things and staying quiet, trying to think of an appropriate response to even the simplest of things. He tends to worry over both things big and small, especially when it comes to executing a plan. He also has a fear of being lonely, perhaps a side effect of two years without either of his parents in his life. He'll go out of his way to keep someone he deems a friend, and would rather have someone around than no one, even if he isn't very fond of the person in question.

History: Soren was born a few years just before the assault of Kasai village. His mother, Kushala, was originally from the Northern Water Tribe, but had been stuck in the Earth Kingdom due to the blockade the Fire Nation had set up after the sacking of Gooling. Without a way to get home, she was forced to build a life for herself under fire nation control, something she detested completely, ultimately leading her to join the Rebel Armada.

Early on in her new life, she had met an Earthbender by the name of Kanan and the two had fallen in love, which culminated in the birth of Soren himself. Unfortunately, the boy would not know his mother for long. Not wishing for her son to live a life controlled by the Fire Nation, she left her family, devoting herself to the rebellion entirely and leaving Soren in the care of his father.

Soren grew up sheltered under his father's care, who tried his hardest to keep him and his son safe and away from the Fire Nation army. Soren had inherited his mother's waterbending rather than his father's earthbending, but without Kushala there to teach him the skill was nearly useless. He couldn't do much, and what little he could do, he couldn't do very well.

Kanan's efforts to keep himself and his son safe failed eventually. A little over a year after The Coal War, Kanan was arrested and hauled off to prison, believed to be one of the Dai Li. Soren lived without either of his parents for a little over a year, until the surprise return of his mother. Unable to leave her son alone, she took him under her wing, training him so that he could eventually become an asset to the Rebel Armada in the hopes of freeing his father and toppling the Fire Nation.

≡FIRE WANTS TO BURN≡
⤑ NAME | Anika 'Nia' Carrow ⤑ AGE | Twenty-Two ⤑ GENDER | Female ⤑ ELEMENT | Fire

APPEARANCE

⤑ Written Appearance

Nia takes after her mother greatly, with long, dark hair and a contrast of bright eyes, a pale shade of blue. Fair skinned, she reflects a far more delicate portrait than reality would dictate - but with broader shoulders, strong from years of hard labor and dedication to her training. Nia is on the shorter side, but wears herself much taller, with a temperament that isn't without flaw. Around her neck, Nia wears a chain with a small chunk of flint and steel tied to it. This holds little sentimental value, and is, in fact, the only way she is able to use her Firebending abilities.

⤑ Height | 125lbs ⤑ Weight | 5'5"

THE WARRIOR

Martial Art Influence | Shaolin

Fighting Style | Dirty

Bending | Despite years of training, Nia is fairly poor at Bending. This is largely due to her own emotional damages, detrimental to focus. She is completely incapable thus far, of drawing fire from anything but an existing source and for this reason, she wears a necklace comprised of flint and steel if no other source can be found.

Weapons of Choice | Dao sword {belonged to her brother} and anything that she can get her hands on in a pinch.

THE GIRL

PERSONALITY | Simply put, since the loss of her village, Nia has become something of a sharper edge. The focus and determination that she developed in her youth and once put to good use has since become fuel for nasty habits - starting fights, stealing and other generally despicable qualities. In truth, she is a woman broken by loss, and where her emotions caved in, she's filled the gaps with rage, wit and danger. Any stretch of softness that remains in her is generally reserved for those she lets in - few and far between these days.

STRENGTHS
+ Focus
+ Combat skills
+ Strategics

WEAKNESSES
- Temper
- Lack of allegiance
- Ethical imbalance
- Lack of patience

HISTORY | Nia comes from a small village on the outskirts of the Fire Nation's territories... Her father, something of a big shot during the war, was not on her list of most popular persons but he was a half decent soldier and ran their village pretty well for being something of a tyrant. Nia learned beneath the best tutors her father could threaten into his command, and over the course of her youth, she was trained in the art of Firebending. While as a child she never took to violence, her skills were more than passable, and she was fast headed for conscription into her father's forces, when fate struck in a most unusual fashion.

Despite their leader's tenacity for combat, the village, located near the border of the Fire Nation, kept out of the fray as much as could be avoided. In the middle of the night, however, they were besieged by a small cast of Earthbenders, bent on revenge. In a mere few hours, overpowered by the unexpected attack, all the men in the village were killed. Everyone else was taken captive and driven across the border (many dying from exposure and hunger before they arrived).

Only a few survived - these managed to escape when their guards became complacent, Nia included. Banded together by loss and fury, these few behave since become a force to be reckoned with, contracted as thieves and assassins... No allegiances or loyalties, going where the money is good. And in Nia's case, that was just about anywhere.

~ 19 ~ Female ~ Earth Bender ~
~ 5'1 ft ~ 110 lbs ~

Weapons of Choice: Dahlia only keeps a knife on her person as she believes weapons are for chumps if you have bending. That knife is solely for the purpose of slicing food that needs to be sliced.

She does keep a pouch on her person, much like a moneybag. However this contains many assorted sizes of rocks and pebbles and the uses as projectiles when the time asks for offense.

Personality: Most people would call Dahlia a down to earth sort of person, whether intended as a pun or not. Having lived as a street rat most of her life has cultivated her thinking into being realistic and easy to approach... depending on who you are. A downtrodden person in need will find her rather kind, friendly and even gentle; the opposite could be said when she is face by people who in her opinion are pompous idiots with more money than brains. Humour and mischief are part and parcel with who she is, no matter who she is dealing with, and any attempt to hamper that may cause her a little annoyance. One wouldn't go as far as calling her sensible, but she is a no nonsense sort and doesn't appreciate people making a big deal out of nothing.

History: Although Dahlia can't remember much of a home save for the streets she grew up in, she did indeed have a home and loving parents when she was a toddler. Her mother worked in an inn whilst her father used his spruced up boat to take couples on romantic boat trips. It was a good life and for while they weren't affected by the unrest that was spreading through the rest of the Earth Kingdom. However, the year Dahlia was born was when Kasai Village was formed. Dahlia's parents knew it wouldn't be long before their home village was overrun by Fire Nation soldiers. While it was heartbreaking, her father decided it was his duty to head over to the Capital, from where he eventually joined the Rebel Armada.

Dahlia and her mother had managed to escape what is now known as Sekitan when the Fire Nation attacked, but not without cost. They had barely reach the closest safe city before her mother collapsed from prolonged neglect of her injuries during the attack. Alone and with no one to help, Dahlia stayed by her mother's side as the latter passed away, unable to find any food or water for herself. She was on the brink of death herself when she was found by a couple of street rats who decided to take her in.

Knowing nothing of her mother and father, she grew up in the dirty alleyways, stealing and pick-pocketing or relying on others kindness. It wasn't long before she realized she could move rocks around with actually picking them. Further investigations told her this was called Bending. She spent a good lot of time watching other benders and copying their moves, discovering she could do what they did and even more. It was during one of these self training days when she caught the eyes of an Earth Bender named Heran. He was headed further into the Earth Kingdom, ready to join the Rebel Armada. Seeing her skill, he realized she was wasting her talents where she wouldn't be able to do anything by herself.

Convincing the now sixteen year old wasn't a hard feat. She had been living on the streets due to necessity, not want, and the same could be said for how she earned money and food... she didn't actually enjoy stealing from others, and the punishment was never really worth it. With the promise of food, clothes and shelter, she at last left the city of her childhood and headed out with Heran. Whether she wanted to make a change for herself or for the world at large, it didn't quite matter- in the end she figured she'd end up doing both.

Sirrak Lian

Basics
Name: Sirrak Lian
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Bender/Non-Bender: Bender

Appearance
Sirrak stands at about 5'10" and weighs about 140 lbs, putting him at firmly "average" in terms of appearance for the most part, with slightly darker tanned skin commonly found among the Earth Kingdom's natives. His dark brown, near black, hair is usually kept short or at the worst of times in a small ponytail. Sirrak can't stand his hair getting in his eyes, and believes longer hair just gives others a handhold in battle. His facial hair is kept sharp and tidy, usually little more than a small, simple goatee. It grows in quickly, however, so he almost has a little bit of fuzz across his cheeks. His eyes are a slightly faded green, like well-worn money. He has a piercing in his right ear, a jade tooth or claw hanging from the hole.

Personality
Sirrak comes across as an incredibly serious and well-put-together individual with quite a lot of self-discipline, and is rather on the quiet and reserved side. He can be rather defensive and once his ire's been raised, he can rival a firebender's passion and anger and hold grudges far longer then the smoldering coals others might bare.

But he comes to life when fighting. Aggressive and bold, with a sparkle in his eyes and quite frequently laughter out of legitimate joy.

Don't touch his brother, however.

That's grounds for being buried 60 feet down in solid rock, and Sirrak won't bat an eye doing so.

History
Sirrak and his brother, Zari, were born in a small, sea-side village northwest of Gooling. His mother, Sesho, was an earthbender farmer who pretty well single-handedly had run her family farm when her brothers had run off to join the Earth Kingdom Army and her parents had grown older. His father, Rorak, had washed up from the sea years before and found himself recovering in Sesho's care. Rorak had been on a ship that hit a rough patch and ended up sinking, or so he told Sesho and others in the village, and so the little Lian family allowed the man to earn his keep by working on the farm along side Sesho.

One thing led to another, and as one would expect, Sesho and Rorak fell in love with Sirrak and Zari being the result.

They were 9 when the Fire Nation attacked Gooling.

Rorak around this time revealed to his family that despite having pretended all the time since the shipwreck that he was a non-bender, he was in fact a Fire Nation deserter. This included being able to firebend. He had of course become fond of the small village in which he lived with Sesho and his kids, and knew the village was close enough that the Fire Nation would consider it a place that "had to go" in their attack on Gooling. So Rorak went to join those attempting to defend Gooling.

He died attempting to defend Gooling.

Sesho more-or-less shooed her kids out of the village with her father, Zaddar. Sesho herself couldn't leave the village, she was a touch too prominent within it, but Zaddar, Zari and Sirrak leaving the village could have been disguised. They traveled further in-land, along the southern mountains of the Earth Kingdom. On their travels, they were attacked by a group of bandits, and saved by an Earthbender using a different sort of technique that Sirrak had never seen.

It was called "Stone Dragon" Style, and was taught in a temple in the southwestern mountains called Kharrat.

While Sirrak wasn't bad at the more standard form of earthbending his mother had begun teaching him at a young age, the Stone Dragon spoke to him on a much different level, and it was here that he left Zaddar and his brother. He followed the other bender to Kharrat, and there began to learn the Stone Dragon style of Earthbending.

He spent about a decade among the practitioners of Kharrat, until his brother appeared on the steps of the temple and begged Sirrak to stop secluding himself in the mountains and join him in fighting the Fire Nation alongside the others of the Rebel Armada.

Sirrak couldn't help it. His brother appealed to just the right parts of him.

He joined his brother, and the pair have spent the last 16 years fighting side by side. Tales of a special squadron being formed drew the brothers easily to General Huang Fong Xu.

Bending/Combat Details
Element: Earth - "Stone Dragon" Style
A style of earthbending that ends up being much more aggressive than the usual balanced style, Stone Dragon focuses a lot on grappling and initiating strikes that allow the benders to get into a grapple. Many other bending forms, and most weapon users, are put at a distinct disadvantage when an earthbender is right in their face and wrestling them to the ground, after all. Sensitivity training is stressed for those practicing the style, and near all Stone Dragon style users are capable of the seismic sense that some other earthbenders develop. This training starts with them putting thin layers of stone over their hands at all times, until eventually they end up good enough to have a good two or three inches of rock between their hands and whatever they're touching, and can perform an entire tea ceremony without damaging or spilling a drop.

Martial Art Influence: Tiger Claw Kung Fu + Brazillian Jiu-jitsu

Weapons of Choice: Big stone gauntlets, occasionally a stone dao.

Zari Lian

Name: Zari Lian

Appearance
Zari stands at about 5'8" and weighs about 143 lbs, putting him at firmly "average" in terms of appearance for the most part, with slightly darker tanned skin commonly found among the Earth Kingdom's natives. His dark brown, near black, hair is kept typically long and in a ponytail or braid, depending on his mood. He tends to stay completely clean shaven. His eyes are a slightly faded green, like well-worn money. He has a piercing in his left ear, a jade tooth or claw hanging from the hole.

Personality
Zari is the warm sort, giving one the impression of a hearth in the living room in the middle of winter, eyes always shining and lips twisted into at least some faint smirk. Despite his line of work, and the time he's been doing it, Zari has definitely stayed a bright spot, so to speak. He makes an effort to know everyone's names, and has a pretty good memory for those little details most folks forget. Fortunately, he manages to come off genuinely sociable and interested instead of that kind of sleazy sociable that makes you feel like you might need a shower.

He definitely shows a more serious side, however, when more "in the field."

They traveled further in-land, along the southern mountains of the Earth Kingdom. On their travels, they were attacked by a group of bandits, and saved by a "Stone Dragon Style" Earthbender. Sirrak opted to join the bender in going to Kharrat to learn the style, while Zari continued on with their grandfather.

They headed north of the desert and crossed the river there before finally settling, to some degree, in a village there. Far away from the fighting on the edge. The village's primary commodity was actually the breeding and training of mounts for the Earth Kingdom, and by extension, the Rebel Armada, and other livestock.

Zari's friendly attitude seemed to even work with the animals, and he had no problems convincing even a couple of eel hounds to cooperate with him. Of course, there were wild creatures and bandits that wanted to steal or kill their animals, and so Zari ended up beginning to learn how to shoot a bow about the same time to protect his charges. He wasn't a great archer, but over time he definitely became a passable marksman.

A member of the Rebel Armada saw Zari shoot a pair of armadillo wolves that were harassing some of his ostrich horses, and pretty much swept the boy up (Zari was now about 13 years old) into joining the Rebel Armada with the next "shipment" of domesticated beasts.

He spent the next handful of years practicing and training and generally becoming more of a soldier and more competent with his bow.

Almost a decade after leaving his brother to learn at Kharrat, and seeing the state of the Rebel Armada and nothing seeming to really change, Zari sought out Sirrak and encouraged him to leave the seclusion of the Stone Dragon temple and come help Zari try to make a difference in defeating the Fire Nation Army.

The pair have been fighting side by side pretty much ever since, and Zari has gotten much better with a bow. The rumors of the general's Special Forces drew his attention, and after some convincing of Sirrak, the duo made their way to camp to join up. With a nice long resume following them.

~ 27 ~ Male ~
~ 6'1 ft ~ 210 lbs ~

Weapons of Choice: A long sword and a short bow
Personality: Ishoku is the opposite of everything an ignorant person would expect from a stereotyped member of the Fire Nation. He is calm and cool headed for the most part, a small smile usually lingering on his lips. He likes peace to prevail and will be the first to calm down situations when they get a little too heated. That being said, he is no pushover. He stands firm on his beliefs whether others agrees with him or not, unless he is showed how he is actually wrong. He is fairly protective of his comrades and though he gives them to freedom to do as they wish, he will attempt to steer them away from trouble and danger as best as he can.
History: The year of Ishoku's birth was one that was seen as a victory by the Fire Nation and a loss by the rest of the world. Not a month had passed after Avatar Aang's defeat that Ishoku was born. Though festivities weren't too elaborate, as he was a first son, his birth was considered a good luck for the family. It was decided since he was a youngster that he would be a soldier fighting for the Fire Nation's cause, and all efforts were made from his family and the family servants to aid him in this endeavor. Unlike his father, he wasn't a bender, which caused much chagrin to his father. However he was very good in swordsmanship as well as martial arts.
As such, by the time he was fifteen years of age, he was already part of the army and sent out with a platoon to scout the areas between Sekitan and Kasai Village in order to root out dissension and rebels. He was quite good at this due to his passive nature that had people opening up and trusting him. As he was good at melding in with different people, he was often sent as a spy to mingle with suspected rebels for information as well as assassinations at worse. It was during these spying missions where he began to realize that perhaps he didn't quite agree with what the Fire Nation had done. It didn't help that a Earth Kingdom refugee had caught his eye and fancy.
It took a few years, but by the time he was twenty-three years of age, Ishoku no longer felt he could stay with the Fire Nation army. He sympathized with the rebels far too much. He finally crossed the line of being a loyal soldier to a traitor when the woman he had fallen for was killed in a surprise attack. Despite his past and knowing others may have a hard time trusting him as he was once a spy, he still joined the Rebel Armada and has been part of them for a good three years.

Name: Amaya

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Bender or Non-Bender: Bender

Element: Earth

Martial Art Influence: Southern Dragon Style

Weapons of Choice:

Personality: Just like her grandmother, Amaya is stubborn and obstinate. She's set in her ways and beliefs and it's nearly impossible to change them. Once she's decided on a course of action she sticks with it unless she has no choice but to abandon it, which will often leave her in a salty mood. She doesn't like being challenged or told otherwise, though that's not to say she's against hearing other's point of view first. She comes across as both, bold and brash.

Amaya has a habit of being sarcastic, especially when she's in a nasty mood. She's a very forward and direct person, preferring to avoid beating around the bush and getting directly to the issue. She speaks whatever is on her mind, only minding what she says in the most serious of situations. It's a real challenge for her to practice tact, a trait she may have gotten from her grandmother. Amaya is, however, fiercely loyal to her people, her friends, family and the Earth Nation as a whole. She values freedom, loyalty, kindness and honesty above all else.

History: Amaya was 11 years old when the Fire Nation Army attacked her hometown of Sekitan. She had lived with her parents, her baby brother of five years and her grandmother. She lived a life of luxury and ease due to her father's wealth and business savvy. Her family would have been one of the many casualties of the invasion had her father, along with a few other men, not made a deal with the Fire Nation, offering their services, influence, and money in turn for protection and good standing.

While Amaya's parents saw the deal as protecting their family, Amaya's grandmother saw it as selling out their fellow Earth Nation citizens, an act she condemned fiercely. She protested the fire nation with every chance she got, often preaching to Amaya of her father's cowardice and disapproval of his decision. Unfortunately, her protesting resulted in her arrest and future execution, to make an example out of her.

Distraught, Amaya pleaded to her father to help save her grandmother, his mother, but he ultimately refused, not wishing to risk the protection he had secured for the rest of his family. An unfortunate circumstance she brought upon herself, he called it. Infuriated with her father's decision, she tried to take matters into her own hands and used the earthbending she'd learned from her family to try and save her grandmother, only to end up apprehended and jailed alongside her.

When the day came, she was to be executed along with her grandmother. First, her grandmother was killed, and she was to be next. Lucky for her she was freed by her father, who, filled with regret and sadness, wasn't willing to let his daughter die as well. He freed her at a terrible cost, his last words to her being an apology and to flee the scene, to never come back.

Amaya did not waste the opportunity, escaping from Sekitan without hesitation. She struggled on her own, worried about both her mother and her brother's safety with no way to safely check on them. She lived her years scraping by in the wild in an attempt to stay safe and survive, her hatred for the fire nation growing stronger each day. When news of the Coal War broke, she saw this as an opportunity, joining up with the Rebel Armada in the hopes of taking down the Fire Nation once and for all.

Name: Amaya

Name Tarkik (Tark) Quassa

Age: 34 years

Gender: Male

Appearance: Tark is built to fight. At 5’9” and a comfortable 190 lbs, he is a solid figure, obviously and quite effortlessly muscular while still bearing the body fat necessary to survive the freezing temps of his home. His beard he keeps clean shaven, and his hair he keeps short, finding it easier to handle. He wears a perpetually pensive look, as if always considering something, and his brow is lined with deep furrows that are not mirrored in the corners of his eyes.

Bender or Non-Bender: Non-Bender

Martial Art Influence: Ba Gua and Ba Gua Dao
Given his student’s propensity for aggressive behavior, Piandao taught Tark Ba Gua and it’s weaponized form, Ba Gua Dao. A flowing, redirecting, and intentional form, Ba Gua utilizes many of the values idealized in the Water Tribes.

Weapons of Choice: Dao Sword

Personality: Professional and disciplined, Tark carries a measured and considered bearing. He responds thoughtfully and concisely, careful to use no unnecessary word nor action. There is an eagerness to act, to do something, that can be seen underneath his demeanor, and though long years of training have helped him rein in that passion, it can flare, particularly when he perceives a serious injustice committed against someone's family. While not precisely an unpleasant person to be around, he can be an acquired taste.

History: Patience is perhaps the hardest of skills to learn.

Tarkik Quassa was born in the Southern Water Tribe well into the Fire Nation’s long assault on the other kingdoms of the world. For years throughout his childhood, he watched as fathers and brothers and uncles were sent off to war, aiding the Earth Kingdom and his own tribe’s northern cousins against the incursion, and he longed to go with them, despite his age. Hope dwindled with the dwindling numbers of fighting age males, and even the Fire Nation itself seemed to think the Southern Tribe of no concern after a time: with all but the youngest or the most elderly males gone to war, and with any individual showing even the slightest inclination to water bending taken captive, the Southern Tribe could offer no aid to those who resisted the Fire Nation.

But everything changed with the bright column of light in the sky. Fire Nation ships returned, destroying their walls and homes in search of the Avatar, a figure of bedtime stories to Tark. A small boy, some years older than Tark himself, was captured, and Tark never saw him again. But people whispered, and rumors spread that perhaps the Avatar has truely returned.

The hope that accompanied those rumors died soon after with the Avatar’s defeat. The subsequent assaults on Gooling and other Earth Kingdom sites further cemented the feeling of doom that settled more and more upon the Southern Tribe, and even Tark, now an orphan as a result of the assault on his home, felt it himself. But a kind of anger, born perhaps of desperation at his inability to contribute, grew within him, and before long, he ventured out to join in the fight against the Fire Nation.

Youthful passion gave him the drive to venture out, but he had little experience in travel over the wider seas, and unaccompanied within a boat no larger than a skiff, Tark was soon lost at sea. Adrift for days, he drifted north, subsisting first on his meager supplies and then on the fish he was able to obtain from the salty seas, especially as the waters warmed. On more than one occasion, at the approach of Fire Nation warships, Tark would capsize his small boat and pray they overlooked it as merely flotsam. It seemed they did.

Rather, most did. On one such occasion, as he was hiding beneath the overturned boat, Tark heard a thumping on the stretched pelt hull, as if someone were knocking a fist against it. The boat was lifted, and he was discovered. A gentleman of obviously Fire Nation heritage but clearly not of their warlike temperament greeted him, taking him in to his house on the closest island. Introducing himself as Piandao, the gentleman pried into Tark‘s history, attempting to determine why such a young man would be in such a position. Tark, utterly at a loss at this inquiry, withheld nothing. Sympathetic and unsure of what to do with he boy he’d rescued, but having no desire to turn him over to the Fire Nation, offered Tark a place as a servant. Tark, refused, determined to seek a chance against the Fire Nation, but his fury was greeted with patience. If he would serve Piandao for 3 years as a servant, Piandao sword that he’d given Tark the means to fulfill his desire. At a loss of other options, Tark agreed.

It was a long three years, full of frustration and anger. Many of the tasks expected of Tark were menial and tedious, with apparently no value, and he railed against them, vocally at first, and in his heart later when Piandao punishes him for ingratitude. Piandao for his part seemed as though he could never be pleased, and he was ever critical of Tarik’s work. But as is often the case with the scenarios, Piandao was teaching Tark patience, initiative, and self control, and Tark, unaware of his status as a student, learned well. After the three years expired, Piandao kept his word and began training Tark in the tactics of war swordsmanship. Tark learned well, and after a year of dedicated training, Piandao made him full apprentice to the White Lotus, an organization in the world across all borders that sought balance between nations. As apprentice, Tark aided in several acts of subterfuge and sabotage against the Fire Nation. Most recently, Piandao has assigned him to aid the Rebel Armada’s Special Squadron, and Tark has arrived with an eagerness to fight.

Other: He has acclimated reasonably well to the warmer climes, but Tark can still be prone to overheating. As such, it’s not unusual to see him go about with no shirt, even in the face of battle.
