~ 19 ~ Female ~ Earth Bender ~
~ 5'1 ft ~ 110 lbs ~

Weapons of Choice: Dahlia only keeps a knife on her person as she believes weapons are for chumps if you have bending. That knife is solely for the purpose of slicing food that needs to be sliced.

She does keep a pouch on her person, much like a moneybag. However this contains many assorted sizes of rocks and pebbles and the uses as projectiles when the time asks for offense.

Personality: Most people would call Dahlia a down to earth sort of person, whether intended as a pun or not. Having lived as a street rat most of her life has cultivated her thinking into being realistic and easy to approach... depending on who you are. A downtrodden person in need will find her rather kind, friendly and even gentle; the opposite could be said when she is face by people who in her opinion are pompous idiots with more money than brains. Humour and mischief are part and parcel with who she is, no matter who she is dealing with, and any attempt to hamper that may cause her a little annoyance. One wouldn't go as far as calling her sensible, but she is a no nonsense sort and doesn't appreciate people making a big deal out of nothing.

History: Although Dahlia can't remember much of a home save for the streets she grew up in, she did indeed have a home and loving parents when she was a toddler. Her mother worked in an inn whilst her father used his spruced up boat to take couples on romantic boat trips. It was a good life and for while they weren't affected by the unrest that was spreading through the rest of the Earth Kingdom. However, the year Dahlia was born was when Kasai Village was formed. Dahlia's parents knew it wouldn't be long before their home village was overrun by Fire Nation soldiers. While it was heartbreaking, her father decided it was his duty to head over to the Capital, from where he eventually joined the Rebel Armada.

Dahlia and her mother had managed to escape what is now known as Sekitan when the Fire Nation attacked, but not without cost. They had barely reach the closest safe city before her mother collapsed from prolonged neglect of her injuries during the attack. Alone and with no one to help, Dahlia stayed by her mother's side as the latter passed away, unable to find any food or water for herself. She was on the brink of death herself when she was found by a couple of street rats who decided to take her in.

Knowing nothing of her mother and father, she grew up in the dirty alleyways, stealing and pick-pocketing or relying on others kindness. It wasn't long before she realized she could move rocks around with actually picking them. Further investigations told her this was called Bending. She spent a good lot of time watching other benders and copying their moves, discovering she could do what they did and even more. It was during one of these self training days when she caught the eyes of an Earth Bender named Heran. He was headed further into the Earth Kingdom, ready to join the Rebel Armada. Seeing her skill, he realized she was wasting her talents where she wouldn't be able to do anything by herself.

Convincing the now sixteen year old wasn't a hard feat. She had been living on the streets due to necessity, not want, and the same could be said for how she earned money and food... she didn't actually enjoy stealing from others, and the punishment was never really worth it. With the promise of food, clothes and shelter, she at last left the city of her childhood and headed out with Heran. Whether she wanted to make a change for herself or for the world at large, it didn't quite matter- in the end she figured she'd end up doing both.

Name: Jun Li

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Appearance: Standing at a height of 5'7 with a build that leaves her weighing around 130 lbs, Jun is not exactly imposing at first glance. Her lean build has been fought for and well earned, however, through a great deal of training and strife amongst other things, and is quite strong as a result. She has long black hair that she frequently ties up into a bun or a braid to keep it from her face, and her eyes are an even darker shade. She also tends to wear blues and muted greens when out of her Kyoshi Warrior garb. Otherwise, she's dressed in the layered kimono, and armored up with a full face of makeup to boot.

Bender or Nonbender: Nonbender

Element: None

Martial Art Influence: Tessenjutsu, Shorinji Kempo

Weapon of Choice: Tessen/ warfans, katana

Personality: Jun is a woman with a great deal of confidence in both herself and her abilities, having long been exposed to first hand combat where hesitation was not an option. She is even-tempered and quite analytical, and has proved on more than one occasion before that she can be quite resourceful as a result. While she initially seems hard to aggravate, it's not impossible. She can still be a rather angry person, even if she's found far better ways to focus it as an adult.

Even as an adult, however, she can be headstrong, emotionally withdrawn, and blunt. She can become single minded and determined, leading her to tune out those around her for her own interests and goals. When she can be dragged out of her own thoughts, however, she is quite warm and compassionate, in a "tough love" sort of way. She has a tendency to take on a mentor-like role to those she feels needs it. She also has a sly sense of humor, often teasing those around her.

History: Jun's life began simply enough. Born to a family of farmers on Kyoshi Island, her life started quite peacefully. The island hadn't yet gotten fully involved in the war effort and there was still peace to be found on the island protected so fiercely by the Unagi and the Kyoshi Warriors. While not directly touched by war, though, its effects were still felt. There were many rough winters made more so by lack of supplies to an already fairly isolated island. It was these comparatively small injustices that first began the fire inside Jun.

On Kyoshi, she grew up well-loved and surrounded by friends and siblings until she was about 12 years old.

Then the siege on Kyoshi began.

The first fights were brutal and bloody, and a great number of Kyoshi Warriors, regular citizens that had taken up the fight, and Fire Nation citizens lost in the first weeks.

First Jun watched her eldest brother die at the hands of the Fire Nation. Then another of her brothers, as the siege heated once again. The battles stretched from days, to weeks, then to months and years. Rough winters grew worse, and Kyoshi as a whole was starving.

And Jun grew angrier. She attempted multiple times to join warriors in battle against the ships on their horizons, to avenge her family and friends that had been taken from them, only to be pulled back each time. One time, it was a warrior of Kyoshi that pulled her back. Instead of trying to calm Jun, the woman instead gave her an opportunity. Join the Kyoshi Warriors, train under her, and one day, she'd be ready to fight the Fire Nation and come out on top.

Jun saw it as an opportunity she couldn't say no to. So she joined the Kyoshi warriors, training and growing in skill through the years. She fought against the soldiers on their shores, and over time, she rose to be the second in command of her branch of Warriors.

It was after many years had passed and even more battles that Jun spotted an opportunity. The siege had been waged for nearly a decade, and each year, the effect grew worse. They had tried before to send ships out for supplies, only for them to be sunk by the Fire Nation warships. Anything larger than a skiff would be sunk, and even those didn't always make it out

Jun suggested something horribly risky, and something that could very well be their only chance to turn the tide of the battle: Send out warriors to the mainland, so that they could bring aid back to Kyoshi.

After careful coordination, the several branches of Kyoshi warriors across the island's villages planned to do just that. They sent out several skiffs towards the mainland, each of them with several Warriors aboard.

Jun herself had nearly made it past when they were spotted, and the skiff was blasted to smithereens. As far as she is aware, she's the only survivor from that incident, and she has yet to receive word on if any of the other Warriors made it to the mainland.

Unable to stop and grieve for her lost warriors, Jun continued on towards Ba Sing Se, scouring the Earth Kingdom for signs of one thing. The Rebel Armada.

She was coming home to Kyoshi, and she'd be on the other side of the Fire Nation's ships when she did.

Other: She has a retractable shield in the bracer of her Kyoshi Warrior uniform that she uses frequently in conjunction with her other weapons.

Name || Makoto Jinsen
evxxi0w143lqe1p0y7pk

Age || 23
Gender || Male

Appearance || Standing at a rather lean and toned 5'11", Makoto has a very apparent confidence about him, often glistening in his hazel green eyes. He carries himself with an air of nonchalance and a trademark grin generally splits his lips. He dresses fairly casually, and either has his shoulder length jet black hair down or swept into a messy bun. He has a thin scar going down his bottom lip to the end of his chin.

Bender or Non-Bender || Bender
Element || Earth

Weapons of Choice || -Bo (staff)
-Blasting Jelly (ingredients and a few capsules ready made)

Personality || There's nothing shy about Makoto. Boastful, teasing, but often lighthearted, he doesn't wish bad upon anyone. Even if he's really pushing someone's buttons, he's mostly just looking to have a little fun. Beneath the somewhat laid back and perhaps obnoxious demeanor, Mako is a caretaker at heart. He wants the best for those he loves and is often driven by desire to do what's right for others.

But he still likes to piss people off a little.

History || Makoto looks back on his childhood very fondly. He was raised well aware of the love his parents had for him, and in turn they instilled within him a love for the world. His father, a proficient sandbender and travelling merchant, taught him everything he knows. Makoto often accompanied his father on his business trips through the Si Wong desert where he furthered his studies and training. To Makoto, this never felt like work. It was the best way that the father and son duo enjoyed spending time together and furthering their relationship; through the art of bending and marketing, crafting relationships with both the earth and its inhabitants. And at the end of it all the two would always come home to his mother's famous Baozi and homemade botan rice candies.

Makoto was eighteen when his father went out on a business trip alone and never returned. It took some time for word to travel back of what had occurred, but Makoto knew nothing would keep his father from home except for one thing. The fire nation.

There wasn't even a body to bury.

After that, Makoto tried to pick the business up himself, but it was tough without a partner. He recruited his childhood best friend, Qiang, and the two upheld the business for quite some time until an unfortunate event that left Makoto partnerless once again.

He figured out how to make it work. And he wasn't half bad at doing it alone either, not with all the training his father had instilled within him. In recent weeks, his mother fell ill, which lead him to seek out a few riskier but higher paying jobs and even take up guiding people through his usual route through the desert, which lead him to his current position of guiding the Rebel Armada through Si Wong desert.

Other || Likes to make sculptures out of sand. Pockets seem to be teeming with rice candy, and is always gravitating towards sweeter foods. Likes to cook, and carries a small journal teeming with recipes and other random thoughts.

Name | Ai Shersazo (Eye Share-sah-Zo)
Age | Eighteen
Gender | Female

Appearance | Ai is a beautiful young woman, with gentle, refined features. Dark, almond-shaped eyes rest beneath long lashes and a slightly narrow button nose leads to a small, evenly bowed mouth. Her hair, dark brown is a contrast to flawless pale white skin, and comes to the small of her back, generally decorated with braids and the occasional ornament. She stands at roughly 5'2", and sports a small, delicate build.

Bender element | Water

Martial Arts Influence | Tai Chi

Weapon | Bow and sword

Personality - Ai is by all intents and purposes, pampered and naive. For all her sheltered mannerisms and lack of comprehension, especially regarding the harsh realities of the world, however, she is a kind soul, with an unmitigated gentle-nature and open-heart. What she lacks in worldly wisdom, she makes up for in her optimism and oddly definitive knack for strategist.

Ai will almost always consider others before herself, and has, to her own detriment, thrown herself into a situation without thinking of the risks, first.

History | Born in the Northern Watertribe, Ai is a distant cousin to the ruling chief. A princess, by birthright, she was raised with charm and compassion, and an encompassing love for her people. As relations began to crumble and the Fire Nation began its climb towards supremacy, Ai became greatly concerned for the safety and sanctuary of their home, and requested of her father to study combative water bending - something forbidden for the women of her tribe.

Her father denied the request, but shortly thereafter, Ai was approached by her father's adviser, Emery, who agreed to tutor her in secret. For the next few years, he offered Ai knowledge both defensive and offensive, and her skills grew exponentially. In time, she had surpassed even her teacher, who determined that Ai should not be held back by the predisposition of their tribe. He began training her in other martial techniques, as well, including the bow and a sword.

Shortly after Ai's eighteenth birthday, while she was accompanying him on an ambassador mission to the mainlands, Ai witnessed the murder of her father when Fire Nation soldiers ambushed their camp. Shortly thereafter, she and his adviser were taken captive. At the behest of her father's dearest friend and most trusted adviser, and using her bending, Ai was able to escape. Laying low in a barn, she managed to evade her captors. The following morning, however, Ai was awakened by the farm owners being harassed by a trio of Fire Nation thugs. Unable to ignore the situation, Ai intervened and was discovered by a pair of Rebel soldiers, who requested she return with them to meet the general.

Name: Masao Nishimura

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Appearance: Standing at a height of 5'8 and clocking in at 145 lbs, Masao is not an imposing figure, or even one that typically draws the eye. The strong but lithe build earned through a lifetime of training is made unnoticeable as well, due to frequently being swathed in loose clothing. He's recently avoided red altogether, in an attempt to avoid his prior associations with the Fire Nation. As a result, he's currently dressed in browns and muted greens. His fairly short black hair is longer on top, often forming waves and loose curls. His dark eyes are a stark contrast to his relatively fair complexion, and he tends to wear an infectious sort of smile on his face.

Bender or Nonbender: Bender

Element: Fire

Martial Art Influence: Northern Shaolin Kung Fu

Weapon of Choice: Sai

chrome-round-sai-115573.jpg

Personality: Masao's personality, in and of itself, seems to be something of a contradiction. Some would even claim that he has two. The first is the picture of awkward friendliness. Awkward, anxious, and just a touch silly, this persona is upbeat and amiable. Paired with slightly out of place mannerisms, faltering attempts to socialize, and a corny sense of humor, this version of Masao is often well-liked though frequently teased.

The other persona is the near total opposite. This Masao is cold, calculating, and grim. The otherwise upbeat young man transforms into the calm and composed visage of a well-trained soldier.

The truth of the matter is that Masao's real personality lies somewhere in the middle, and both personas stem directly from a lifetime of training to be an elite soldier, somewhat isolated from the rest of society. He teeters between amusingly awkward amiability and seriousness depending on the situation he finds himself in. The sense of humor is always groan-worthy, however.

History: Masao has never truly known peace. Born into a high ranked military family in the Fire Nation, much of his future was planned for him from the very start. The plans only grew in ambition as it was revealed that Masao was not only a firebender, but an excellent student as well. While hardly a prodigy, he notably excelled in his training and in many facets of his early schooling that garnered the attention of many high ranking officials of the Fire Nation.

It was at the age of 10 that Masao truly began his training for an elite soldier task force for the Fire Nation. Recruited and taken away from his home for long periods of time, he was placed amongst a group of similarly talented young benders, many of them fellow firebenders. It was here that he was groomed and conditioned as part of a force that would grow truly lethal as they approached adulthood, and he became a highly efficient soldier above all else. Over time, more and more recruits joined this force, though some claimed to have never had bending before being "recruited". All Masao knew was that his teammates were recruited, disappeared for several weeks, and then joined the group to make it stronger than before, though he was unsure of how exactly such an event had taken place.

He was sent on several missions with this group, tackling many forces of the Rebel Armada with brutal efficiency. It was only in recent months, however, that Masao began to question his role. Isolated from all but the elite force, his commander, and his oh-so-very proud family, he had no way to truly gauge his actions and his place.

Until the team was sent on a raid in the Earth Kingdom for more young men and women to "recruit" to the elite teams. The looks he and his team had been given by horrified townspeople, by vengeful families, has stuck with him and it impacted a few of his old teammates as well.

Masao slipped away in the night a few mere weeks later with a few old teammates following his lead, convinced he'd been fighting for the wrong side in the war. He fled to Ba Sing Se, hoping to start anew, and perhaps even atone for the wrong he's done.

Extra: He's currently trying to pass himself off as a nonbender, or at least not a former Fire Nation soldier. If he were questioned about it, or if others drew their own conclusions, he'd answer as honestly as he felt necessary. For the moment, though, he's trying to avoid suspicion in an army that has every right to suspect him.

Even without using his bending though, the fighting style is still recognizably Fire Nation.
