"Ahh, colors. As much as this is actually a pretty cool place, its still a government-run facility, so grey. lots and lots of grey." he said, a little sad tone in his voice, "And though students occasionally petition for colored paints, and some just go and do it themselves, it only lasts a day or so before the grey paint is back, and punishments are doled out." Nyx was getting a little worried, the room was getting brighter and easier to see, which meant that there was a magical buildup behind him. That was not boding well for him, and he was anxious to get the new student back in his sights, if only to know which way to dodge.

The pants were on, as was her bra. She then walked over towards the bathroom. If they had gotten her clothing, they must have gotten...there it was. With a smile, she walked out with makeup in hand and sat down in front of the floor length mirror. Black eyeliner was a girl's best friend. This discovery made her even happier and the room was filled even more with silvery light. "Well, Mr. Shades, go look through that dresser for a bikini. I plan on swimming as soon as possible."

"To be fair, I can't exactly see where you're pointing, and as far as I know, they would have only provided a generic one-piece suit, adequate for athletics and exercise" Nyx said, fidgeting slightly. There was significant glow coming from behind him, presumably from Ishtar, and it was reflecting off of and illuminating the room around him. Which, while it was more comforting than the pitch black room he had opened for her, was worrying in its own way.

Samuel wasn't sure what kind of answer he had been expecting. That was a very simple answer, but very much like Vralik. A smile tugged his lips. He should've known the free-spirited Vralik would want something that entailed more adventure. Now that he had an answer, however, he felt a small tinge of guilt. It felt unfair to him now that he knew Vralik's ambitions but was still such a mystery himself. Of course, Vralik wouldn't see it that way, but that was just one of the numerous differences between the two young men.

"...I just want to help people, I guess." It wasn't the whole truth, Samuel knew that, but it was more than nothing. He would satisfy his own conscience with this compromise. "Smiles and laughter are rather rare around here. Happiness is the most important thing, I think. If you aren't enjoying life, why are you living?"

Ironic, that statement. Indeed, why was Samuel himself even still alive, after what happened two years ago? He lost his freedom, but more importantly he lost the only thing in the world that he cared about. A certain person died back then, and arguably, so did Samuel.

"I hate one piece swimming suits! They always ride up and give me a wedgy." Ishtar finished her eye liner and pulled a black t-shirt over her head. The glowing dimmed slightly as some of the marks were covered. "Stop acting like a virgin and turn around to help me find things." She grabbed her obsidian cross quickly and snapped it on. Her belt was in shambles but there wasn't another studded belt in the room. "Never seen a woman dress before?" Ishtar shook her head and sighed. The underwear drawer thankfully held the swimsuit, a simple black once piece. Ishtar raised an eyebrow; she needed to get a sewing machine quickly and personalize this stuff. She threw it, along with her jacket, into a leather over the shoulder hobo bag and went to the door. "Coming, Shades?"

Walking out of the room, he mentioned, "Well, its hard to not act a like a virgin when I am one, but that's not the point. I was being polite, and I've helped other new students, some of whom were a fair bit more anxious about the new environment." Continuing on, before they reached the elevator again, he stopped her a door, "Now, before we leave, in the event you need ANYTHING while you're here, help with homework, scheduling new classes, figuring out a meal plan, this is my room. I'm usually here in the evenings, and don't worry about disturbing me, I'll probably be happy to get out and help." With a smile, he leads her on to the elevator, and asks, "Now, I noticed you grabbing a swimsuit, would I be right in assuming you'd like to check out the pool?"

"Of course I do." Now that's what she needed. Water to encompass her and maybe some interesting faces soon. Ishtar wanted to meet some people. Maybe someone in this joint knew of a way to get out of here. And Nyx seemed to know people as a coordinator of sorts. "Got any interesting people around here I could meet?"

Vralik gave a smile and stood back up to walk behind Samuel
"That's very like you Samuel. And I think you would be good at it. Now if we could just get a bigger smile!"
The man instantly reached down and started to tickle Samuel's sides, waiting until he elicited giggles from the young man.
"There we go! Now lets go out and make some smiles!"
Vralik lifted both of his arms up triumphantly, waiting for some response from Samuel . . . only there was none. A quick look to his side revealed that the young man was nowhere to be seen. There were, however, several leaves blowing around as if they had been recently disturbed. Vralik blinked a couple and looked up, seeing a falling figure some hundred feet in the air. It seemed, that in his excitement, he may or may not have thrown Samuel skyward.
"Well poo."
Vralik immediately found himself trying to slow Samuel's descent, guiding his fall down from on high. The problem was a matter of control. He wasn't levitating Samuel after all, he was manipulating the wind around him. Thankfully, Samuel weighed less than him, so the amount of wind manipulated to slow him down wasn't an issue. It was the distance. Vralik's control waned based on how much he manipulated, and how far away the location was. He managed to change what would have been a lethal fall into more of a controlled crash . . . right into Nyx and the female student he was escorting.
"Samuel! Are you all right?! Terribly sorry Nyx!"

Ishtar blinked; the person that had just fallen from the sky had barely knocked her backwards. His face had fallen into the cushion like area between her boobs. Not very gently taking him by the hair and pulling his face into sight, she stared down the skinny white haired kid. With a flick of her hand, some water from a nearby fountain was pulled towards her in a globe. When it floated to a foot above the cretin's head, she clenched her hand into a fist and the globe turned into a spiky ball of ice directly over his head.
"Okay, pervert, you want to explain to me what just happened?"
She heard the shout from a blue-haired creature and took this new one in. Her eyes turned as hard as emerald and a highly dangerous look came into her face. Very few people managed to land a blow on her unpunished, whether or not it was intentional. Now, she was going to have a bruise on her sternum and this one caused possibly.
"...or do I need to launch this at you, anime reject?"

Today could be going better.

A surprise attack is the most effective, so when Vralik launched his assault on Samuel's sensitive sides, he burst into sudden laughter. Before he had a chance to collect himself and beg for mercy, he realized that Vralik had disappeared - as had the ground, and everything around him. He had a moment of stillness as he reached the apex of his brief flight where he watched a rather startled blackbird swerve to avoid him. A moment later, he was screaming for his life, flailing his limbs as he plummeted to the ground.

What exactly happened between sky and ground eluded him - divine intervention, perhaps - but he then found himself unable to see, his face pressed between a pair of warm, soft pillows. After a painful yanking of his hair, he was embarrassed to find out that, unfortunately for him, he'd just used the new girl's breasts as a landing pad. Now he was red as a vine-ripened tomato - speaking of which, they turned out great this year, if he survived this he would make some into salsa.

His terror made his mind wander off-track, attempting to escape the reality he now found himself in. Now experiencing the devastating emotional mix that was fear, surprise, embarrassment, and attraction - bloody hell those were some gem-like eyes she had, had he really never seen a woman up close before? - Samuel was barely able to untie his knotted tongue to sheepishly squeal "T-t-t-terribly sorry."

This was followed immediately by what could have been his final living act on Earth: shooting a fearful look to Vralik that just screamed 'please save me'.

'This is getting ridiculous', Nyx thought to himself, and stepped forward. "Everybody calm down please. Ishtar, the man has not an ounce of wind magics in him, and likely could not have choreographed his impact with you if he tried." Holding his hand up to the orb of water as he passed, he tangled the cobalt streams of magic holding the water in place. With a surprising burst, all the water dispersed in a blast of fine mist and vapor. Staring at the two other mages involved, he observed their auras, one with a steely grey light, wisps and streamers curling about his form, and the other was dull off-white. While elemental affinities had been easy to pin down on the two, water and wind, the third had no such discernible nature. Immediately a bit more wary, as those who had no affinity for the elements had some of the oddest, and most dangerous, core magics he had seen, and he asked them, "Now, who are you two, and what were you doing that resulted in pentagram boy slamming into Ishtar here?"

"Well . . ."
Vralik started nervously. The young woman in question was clearly not in any mood for funny-business. Perhaps it was nerves from being brought in today, or maybe she was just like that all the time. All the young man could do was offer apologies and his usual friendly attitude.
"Terribly sorry about that. I had a bit of . . . and accident? Yes, you would probably call it that. I got a little excited and launched poor Samuel several stories into the sky. I controlled his descent as best I could--but I am still learning."
Vralik offered a smile at the young woman while simultaneously pulling Samuel away from her. His hands were beneath the man's armpits and gently pulled him into a pseudo-standing position.
"Ishtar is your name then? My apologies again for this, but if anyone: it's me you should be shouting at, not Samuel here."

Did Nyx just say what Samuel thought he said?

The boy's knees buckled and he crumpled to the ground in front of Vralik. Samuel had seen this guy around campus, but like the majority of his other classmates, he hadn't made any real contact with Nyx. Samuel had been extremely careful for over two years to hide his mark from the others; it was his source of shame, an uncontrolled destructive magic that forced Samuel to bear its burden, and keep himself in check. How did this relative newcomer - who appeared to be blind, no less - know about the pentagram?

Suddenly Samuel darted to Nyx, wide-eyed and even more pale than usual. "What the bloody hell did you just say?" he muttered frantically, inches from Nyx's face. His left hand held a vicegrip around his right forearm, making sure his right palm was aimed at the ground. He could already feel the shuddering travelling through his arm. He had to calm down, and quickly, but first he had to know. "Pentagram boy, you said...? Did I hear you right, Sir Nyx?"

"Yes, that's what I said, I don't have a name for you yet," he mentioned warily, the rather erratic pulsing of the boys aura was putting him on edge. Continuing on, he said, "So I called you by a visibly defining feature. I figured it'd get the point across better then left-side dude."
Shaking his head slightly at the memory, "I've tried that before, and it almost always falls apart when people try to figure out who's left im referring to. So, " Cutting back to the topic at hand, he said, "If you'd like to be called something else, pentagram-boy, why don't you introduce yourself? You too, fly-boy."

"Hn. Yeah I'd love to know the names of the person who crashed head long into me and the idiot who caused this chaos in the first place." Ishtar crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow at all the people around her. Nyx was a student here; he was also a coordinator. He should know who these people were already at least by sight. Which might mean her original hypothesis was true. He could be blind in some manner. But he did not use divination to see his way or he would have moved out of the way of the falling person. Which meant something else was afoot and she was eager to learn the secret.

Vralik immediately pulled Samuel back, both of his arms on the man's shoulders
"Please! I'm sure everyone here would be much happier without all the dangerous magic flying around, yes?"
The man took a deep breath before speaking
"My name is Vralik, this here is Samuel. And I apologize profusely to all parties involved for what happened. As I said, Samuel had no part in this, the blame falls squarely on me."

"Well, Vralik the anime reject, I am Ishtar Lunore. I am sure that this is not how you greet new people normally." Ishtar studied the person in front of her. The wind magic and ability to fly...now that was something she could find some uses for later. So perhaps teaching him a harsh lesson wasn't necessary as long as he appeared useful to her cause. There seemed to be a spark of adventure in this one that she could fan to help her get out of this gilded cage. "...hmmm..." Another flick of her hand sent another globe of water into Vralik's face. "We're even."

"...Sorry," Samuel muttered, his eyes fixed on his right hand. His right arm felt like a hive of angrily buzzing insects from shoulder to fingertip. Trying to breathe slowly, deeply, and with a set rhythm, Samuel turned on his heel and departed towards his dormitory room, which only he occupied. Being alone in his room would let him collect himself. As he strode away, he made a mental note to find some way to repay Nyx and Ishtar for their inconvenience. All he had to offer were the fruits - and vegetables - of his labor in the garden, but surely everyone liked fresh produce?

He had started tending his own section of the student gardens halfway through his first year at Avalus. While he struggled to keep anything alive for the first two months, that was less his ability as a gardener and more that his core magic would destroy the fragile plants if he wasn't careful. Gardening taught him patience: if he got frustrated, he would risk losing control of his hand and killing whatever unfortunate botanical item he was tending. Even a small pulse was enough to break stems and explode fruits. Now, his plot had expanded to almost three times the normal size of a student's allocation, due to the variety of plants he masterfully cultivated. He enjoyed the calm and beauty of the outdoors and of each different plant. Embarrassingly enough, he found himself talking to his crops more often than not. He felt often that he had more friends among the dirt than the actual student body, and he was strangely okay with that...for now.

Sighing heavily into his hands, he mentally screams, 'Why!? Why can I not get through one tour, ONE, without things going to shit?' Looking up again, he stares at Vralik and says, "Now, if you'll excuse us, I was just showing Ishtar around the campus."

"Unless Little Boy Blue wants to join us? I mean, we are hitting the pool." Ishtar was now studying the little scared creature. He had to have some use, didn't he? Now, she just had to find it. "I want to swim and company is always nice.

"Samuel--"
Vralik started before catching himself and letting the young man walk off. It felt like anything he could try to say right now would just make the tension worse, and he hated that. He had taken the "splash-orb" without complaint. All things considered, it was not much of a punishment compared to how Samuel seemed to be feeling right now. He'd give Samuel at least a few minutes by himself before going to personally apologize and try to make it up to him. As for the new student's offer . . . well, he should at least try and present himself after such a botched introduction right?
"Well, I don't mind tagging along if Nyx has no objections. I can show you where the best views on campus are."
