Ilium is a different sort of roleplay. Traditionally, RPs are about player-player interaction. Here, we take an approach that is more similar to collaborative fiction. This style of writing means that your lasting mark on ilium will be a unique contribution to our world, and may not necessarily be the types of back and forths you are used to.

How awesome can I be?
This roleplay runs on the Karma System. What that means is, you can be as powerful as you want, but with great power comes great responsibility. Asmodeus and Tegan will reward good roleplaying, not good powergaming. So if you dominate too much, interfere with other players too much, or get too cocky, there will be consequences.

Here's an example: Using magic burns calories. The more magic you use, the more you need to eat, hydrate and rest. What's more, maybe it ages you prematurely, or gives you long-term medical issues.

Here's another example: Martial artists need to practice every day. You need to stay fit and limber, because muscle memory soon fades.

And one more: You've got a great sword? You need to keep it maintained. Sharpen it, stop it from rusting, ensure the hilt is rebound and treated correctly.

The more you try to abuse the power levels in the roleplay, the more likely you are to pull a muscle, catch an illness, break your shit, fall off a cliff or attract the attention of mind-raping psychic parasites.

Ilium's Chosen- The mean and method of purifying the poisoned realm was burned into Kairos's mind like a brand. He is a physical host for the Word of Ilium.

Blight Sense- Kairos can sense the decay in all things.

Cicurate- Kairos can halt the process of decay in living things.

Cosmic Affinity- Kairos can communicate with any plant, creature or element that was born from Sunne.

Eirene, the Northern Archon

Race: Human

Nation: Pegulis

Occupation: The Northern Archon

Notable Skills:
A brilliant strategist and politician; Eirene knows how to connect and manipulate people for her cause.

Seeing the bigger picture; She can connect the dots of smaller events and realize how it will affect the situation at large.

Willful Magic; The strength of her magic directly correlates with the strength of her will and body.

Notable Possessions: Eirene has on her a pendant used to buckle her cloak, it is of strong sentimental value.

Aux: Skadi, The White Wolf. About the size of a large dog, this white furred, blue-eyed creature is a quiet, subtle animal and rarely strays very far.

Advent:

Moment of Clarity - For a brief minute she can hyper focus and ignore all distractions and stresses to see and solve a problem clearly. This can be done once a day.

Second Wind - Should she exhaust herself and her power, this burst of energy can fuel a last ditch spell. It can only be used once a day.

Notable Skills:

Prodigal Translator-Glyph is fluent in a great many languages in Sunne.

Friends in Every City-The old man has traveled far and wide, then back again. He has contacts in the highest and lowest of places.

Persistence of Memory-His sharp mind contains an encyclopedic knowledge of Sunne's history and persons of interest.

Experience with such things- Glyph is very astute at reading others. He possesses the annoying ability to discern moods and intentions.

Notable Possessions: Glyph is never without his Oud and seems to always have some form of rare herb and oil on his person.

Advent:

Seersight- Once per day, Glyph can glimpse the destiny of another. He cannot divine a subject's destiny more than once, nor can he see his own.

Notable Skills:

Cum grano salis- The Lady's mysterious physiology makes her impervious to toxins, disease, possession, and enchantments

Cinnabar Clad- Despite her young age and muddled lineage, Ironblood has proven herself indispensable as an alchemist. As such, she is a part of the Jade Prophet's circle of trusted disciples.

Fieldcraft- Ironblood is dispatched on frequent expeditions into the poisoned forest. She possesses a vast working knowledge of the alien flora and fauna within, as well as the skills required for preserving and transporting specimens. She is especially adapt at concocting 'from scratch'.

Geomancy- The Lady is sensitive to the subtle frequencies of the elements that compose our universe. She can attune herself to these frequencies for dousing and scrying for physical objects.

Notable Possessions: Alchemical field kit.

Orenda- Once per day, Ironblood may use her body to channel/redirect the flow of an external energy source.

Equivalent Exchange- Ironblood can reduce a substance down to its basic comprising elements.

True Path (Mountaineering) - Carval can join Medwick to give him uncanny awareness of handholds and ledges, speeding his ascent of vertical surfaces for 1 minute.

Scholar's Repose (Barvelle Sage) - For 1 minute Carval can join Medwick to instill a profound sense of awe in the area around him. This allows Medwick to give speeches, lessons and rants that few can interrupt without great force of will.

Prestigious Leap (Dexterous Gait) – He can jump distances that should be impossible for ordinary mortals.

Nation: Shar hails from the wilds close to the city Aldus of Pegulis

Appearance: She is from the snow leopard variety of Anima. She has pierced ears with many rings, chains and studs of various sizes dangling from them.

Occupation:
Archaeologist (step-sister to Medwick)

Notable Skills:
~Scimitar combat - a basic knowledge of swordsmanship.
~Linguistics
~Mountaineering - experience working at high elevation dig sites in Pegulis.
~Knife throwing skills.


Notable Possessions:
A scimitar, throwing knives, and a small first aid kit that contains peppermint for upset tummies, aloe for burns and small scrapes, arnica for pain and inflammation, clove oil for numbing and gauze for binding.


Aux: Tandra

Description: She is a small two foot long iridescent blue dragon built for speed, with opalish eyes that whirl inside. They whirl faster and change colors for different emotions.

Advent:
Pathfinder - Tandra can help Shar judge the obstacle course for quick and easy navigation, improve her balance and avoid threats along the way for one minute. This skill can then be applied to urban environments as and when encountering them.

Arcane reader - This improves Shardis' ability to read and understand the old symbols and writings from the past for one minute.

- Keen Eyes: With his eyes honed from hunting both at night and during frigid storms, Castigarian is capable of picking out small movements at great distances.

- Steady Hands: Years of drawing, holding, and releasing his arrows has left his hands capable of incredible precision.

- Capable Tracker: Having spent a good number of years prowling the woods for his big game, Castigarian knows what signs to look for when tracking something...or someone.

- Like a Mountain: Years of living in and off the wilds has built the already impressively sized Castigarian into a veritable mound of muscle and strength. His stance as as firm as a boulder and when prompted, he can hit like an out of control horse and carriage.

Notable Possessions:

- Gredihm Family Bow: Hewn from a sturdy oak, the bow is strung with a thick animal tendon.

- Oak Handled Hunting Knife: Perhaps a bit rustic in design, the 4" blade is kept well honed at all times and is easily capable of piercing animal hides in mere moments.

- Belt w/various Pouches: Seemingly mundane in nature, it takes many tools to be a successful hunter, from simple things like replacement arrowheads and rope to stranger things like animal urine.

- Twin Hand Axes: A simple pair of hand axes that have been reinforced and tempered many times over; the axe heads themselves being filed and sharped down to a razor's edge that is kept as well as his hunting knife at all times.

- Precise Aim (Keen Eyes): Castigarian can hyper focus his eyes, allowing him to see far greater distances than would be capable of a normal human, allowing him to place an arrow with much greater ease.

- Devil in the Details (Capable Tracker): Castigarian can focus so intently on his surroundings that he can pick up the smallest of details that might help him to follow someone's path, no matter how well concealed it might be.​

Occupation: Aldus Watch Guard Captain

Notable Skills:
Pressure Makes Diamonds - Ilsa thrives under pressure. She regularly practices the ability to control the depth of her breathing and her heart rate, allowing her to function with both physical and mental clarity when under immense pressure and in the heat of the moment.

Natural Leader - Ilsa leads by example, listens to her troop, and respects each member as she would a brother or sister. This, combined with her calm confidence, ensures loyal followers.

Clever Tactician - She is an excellent coordinator of small skirmish maneuvers to win battles, but not so fluent in large-scale military movements that win wars.

Might and Magic - Ilsa has the ability to use basic elemental enchantments (fire, water, wind, earth) on her own weapons, augmenting her ability to go toe-to-toe with one or multiple opponents using a sword or mace and shield.

Notable Possessions: Ornately decorated broadsword and crested shield. Necklace with a mirror pendant, standard issue for the Aldus Watch. Lastly, her mother's flute.

Advent:

Sanctuary (Pressure) - By exerting incredible will, Ilsa can create a barrier about 20 feet in diameter (centered on herself) that forcefully pushes foes back and prevents them from entering for one minute.

Call of Healing (Natural Leader) - Ilsa can help wounds and fractures to heal on a single individual (herself or someone else) for one minute. The healing process is sped up greatly, and can close most gashes and wounds, but very severe injuries will not completely heal in the one-minute timeframe. Occupation: Merchant-Soldier. Lut is a high ranking officer in the Kaustir army responsible for acquisition and distribution.

Notable Skills:

- Keen sense of hearing, from hearing the faint singing of bugs at night.
- Quick observations, an ability to notice and react to things from his peripheral, almost to a fault.
- Reputation (tough, but fair, willing to negotiate, but cutthroat) which enhances his ability to Negotiate for economic, trade, and arms deals between suppliers and the army.

Notable Possessions:

Imperial seal of acquistion, a stamp that grants him authority of purchase over many, but not all, matters
- Horn of Distress, a small, but unusually loud whistle with a distinctive keen that summons the local authority to his aid.
- Sand Rapier, a rapier whose blade tapers to a wide, serrated base at the guard. It is sturdy and built to deflect and catch heavy weaponry.

Aux: Black scarab beetle.

Advents:

- Lut can listen through his beetle for a short period of time.
- His beetle, always hovering around him, acts as an alarm beacon, automatically forcing an advent to allow Lut to save himself from an assassin's strike. Unfortunately, after it has been spent once ...

Notable Skills:

Deadened Skin: As a side affect from working in the harsh wasteland weather and fighting various monstrosities. Nils is able to ignore minor wounds and harsh elements are a mild irritant.

Barbed Chain Combat: Nils has mastered the art of the strange but lethal barbed chain and its uses.

Combat Medicine: The key to surviving in the wasteland is all about resourcefullness. Nils can use almost anything to patch himself or anyone else up. While it may not be a complete healing it is a quick fix that allows the recipient to keep fighting for a short time.

Poisoned weapons: Nils has several pouches of rare and deadly poisons from the poisoned forest. This gives Nils' weapons a deadly bite that causes even minor wounds to quickly turn deadly.

Notable Possessions:

His signature barbed chain, sturdy light armor, pouches filled with various poisons, and a hidden knife.

Rotter the Rat

Advents:

Black Lungs: Nils vomits forth a cloud of thick black smoke. The smoke is highly toxic and viscous, both blinding and choking anyone caught inside it.

Locust Feast: If there is no edible food source Nils can summon a swarm of locusts. The locusts crawl out of his mouth and devour anything organic, whether it be dead or alive. The locusts then return to Nils and transfer the nutrients into his body.

Eloquent Speaker-
Nearly being as greatly educated as a citizen from Pegulis he can adjust his way of speaking or manner depending on the class of person he is talking to.

Intense Training- Over the years he has trained and this has caused him body to become a tough terrain full of scars, this has allowed him to take more pain and also allowing him to lift heavier things. But to a limit.

Good Eyesight- Able to see through the dust that blocks his eyesight on a daily basis.

Bloodshot Eyes-
During arena fights he focuses only on his opponent and their movements, removing the thought of the crowd out of of his mind.

Notable Possessions: Metal claws created by his father that were passed down to him, and his mother's golden engraved ring that simply says ''Eternally''.

Aux: Samba, the Wolf.

Advents:

Eyes of Foreseeable Acts- With this ability he can see the movements of a person closely in a short amount of time and dodge or deflect attacks.

Rage- Enabling him to enter a state of rage that increases his strength and speed.

Occupation: Guide/Cartographer. Guides people between the cities of Pegulis, mainly trading caravans. Also draws detailed maps of Pegulis highlighting the best traveling routes for trading caravans or for the lone woodsman.

Notable Skills:

*Artist- He can draw people, maps, and scenery with good skill but must see them first to accurately draw them.

*Cartography- Has a naturally ability to map out regions with great detail.

*Photographic Memory- He can walk into a crowded room and take one good look and days later still be able to describe the whole scene down to the little details.

*Duelist- Considers himself deadly with a sword and enjoys the thrill and rush of fighting someone in single combat where he seldom loses.

Notable Possessions: A detailed map of Pegulis that he drew himself.

Aux: Rayne- She’s a spren, a fairy like creature, who changes colors depending on Jaladin’s mood.

Advent:

* To see one’s heart- For one minute he can go into a trance like state and uses his artistic skill and draw person's face and see what emotion that person is feeling the strongest at that moment.

* Adrenaline Rush- Everything comes into focus and everything seems to slow down around him. Adrenaline surges though out his body allowing him to move and strike faster and all pain taken during this time is dulled drastically but felt after the minute is over.

Occupation: Naval Officer in Hosia. Captain of the Sea Wraith.

Notable Skills:

Intuit Direction: Given a moment of concentration, Valyrin can determine where true north lies in relation to himself.

One with the Sword: Through years of dedicated and rigorous training, Valyrin has become an expert with the katana and wakizashi.

Sea Worthy: Valyrin never suffers from sea sickness, and can remain steady on his feet in the worst of squalls.

Reputation: Valyrin is known to be ruthless when dealing with enemies of Viridos. Perhaps a little too ruthless.

Notable Possessions:

A superbly crafted katana, wakizashi, and tanto.

Zephyr the Osprey

Eyes of the Osprey: For one minute, Valyrin can view the world through Zephyr's eyes.

Gust of Wind: For one minute, Valyrin can summon a gust of wind that has the strength of a fresh breeze (17-21 knots).

Notable Skills:

Smith Fit for a King - Anything from helmets, swords, and shields and be handled by the quirky blacksmith. Unless the material is extremely rare, he can most likely make something out of it. Practice makes perfect.

Product Knowledge - When you have a business, you tend to get a handle of the things you sell and any related goods. This includes characteristics, prices in different locations, and the like.

Blunt Fighting - With extensive training, with hammers, he tends to grab one when in a fight.

Great Strength - The large frame and blacksmith lifestyle has left his body with a whole lot of spare muscle to mess around with.

Notable Possessions:

Full smithy - capable of repair, creation, and even improvement of weapons and armor.
Highly protective armor/shield, that fits him perfectly. (Used Aux to give the it extra juice)
Hammy - One handed Hammer (Also used Aux to create)

Aux:

Bracelet - Worth a pretty penny but it has great sentimental value

Advents:

Blacksmithing (Smith Fit for a King) - For 1 minute, Khanaan can output magic (with the help of the bracelet) and can be injected into whatever item he his making. This improves the efficiency of any weapon and armor.

Protection (Blunt Fighting) - The bracelet supplies protective magic, for 1 minute, that helps keep him alive in a fight. It is a barrier shield that can deflect many attacks.

Occupation: Healer

Notable Skills:
Hands of Healing - She’s a doctor by profession and can thus take care of any standard illnesses or injuries, as well as creating poison antidotes.

Healer’s gift – In a pinch she has a few healing spells she can use. However, doing so uses her own energy to heal the patient so the effects of any spell are directly related to her own state of being. She will be weakened accordingly for a time afterward.

Open Mind – She has always had a love of learning and the skill and dedication to put what she has learned into practice, as well as the ability to remember seemingly insignificant information years later. This is due to having trained her mind from a young age to record details and recall them later, a sort of memorization technique. It takes practice and an awareness that there is something she wants to remember.

Nature Walking – While not a navigator she’s good at finding her way through the wild places.

Notable Possessions:
Healer’s medical bag and necessary tools
A large belt knife of sentimental value

Aux: A silver ring worn on the center finger of her right hand.

Advents:
Mind Palace (Open Mind) - Once a day for 1 minute she can focus her mind and absorb/sift through a vast amount of information very quickly. Whether it’s going through what she already knows to find the right solution, or speed-reading in search of a specific piece of information.

Lifeline (Healer’s gift) - Once a day for 1 minute this advent gives her extra stamina she usually uses to fuel the healing of a patient without destroying herself in the process.

Notable Skills:

Horticulturist - He diligently keeps his own personal garden of plants- most prominently featuring fungi, lichen, and moss- and is an expert in discerning what is edible, medicinal, or lethal.

Medicine Man - Myrwyn has perfected the art of preparing tonics, salves, poultices, and most importantly antidotes from the native flora (and in some cases, fauna) of the Green Realm. Of course, that knowledge can be used to kill as easily as to cure. If he wanted to.

Gourmet - His skills are not limited only to the healing arts; he also knows the secrets of culinary pursuits that allow him to create exquisite meals out of medicine. He can usually mask even the most bitter of tastes with practice and the right ingredients.

Familiar Ground - Having lost his sight at a young age, he has by necessity learned routes through the Green Realm by means of touch, hearing, and scent. He is not easily lost in the Riven area.

Notable Possessions: Medicine bag containing tools of the craft.

Aux: An ornately carved wooden spoon.

Advents:

A Spoonful of Sugar - Once per day, Myrwyn may alter the toxicity of food or drink by stirring it three times with his spoon. The direction in which he stirs determines whether the poison is added or neutralized.

Foxfire - Myrwyn can shed a bit of his own blood to coat an object with bioluminescent "paint". He cannot perform this ritual more than once per day. The light lasts up to three hours or until the blood is washed/worn away.
