The fly infects a honey bee by depositing its eggs into the bee's abdomen. A few days after the bee dies, fly larvae burst out from between the bee's head and thorax.

Oh no, poor bees. I guess that this makes trying to safeguard honey bees even more important, especially if it turns out that it is occurring more frequently and damaging more hives.

This is more common than you'd expect.

The honey bees can't catch a break, can they? It is nice to see people outside of beekeepers sending in specimens and trying to help out.

Now for my casual reminder that something similar exists. Tarantula Hawks.

Tarantula Hawks.
I'll be seeing all three of those in my nightmares. *shudders*

Everyone should visit a bee farm. ^_^ It's amazing.
