Forest Village of Pinnacle

The party remained in place and readied themselves to meet the oncoming waves of enemies, but staying in place was never an option. Their enemies knew no number and the party would be eventually overran so long as that remained the case. The paths closest to the party were invaded first. Massive creatures that smelled overwhelmingly of filth were the first to approach while ferrying smaller enemies on their backs or in their wake.

The party had no defensive line. Sure, a few of the paths had defenders at their heads, playing their parts for the moment. Those that stepped up were doing their best to keep enemies from fully entering the junction the rest of the party gathered on, but the flood of foes merely ran around to other walk ways that were not defended while other monsters continued to press the first ones. Soon the party had monsters on all sides, in and among them. Blocking one exposed their backs to others. Slaying one, made room and opening for countless others. Staying in place was not an option. No matter how many they slew, their Apostle blood would be what inevitably drenched the platform if they stayed.

All apostles currently in scene are getting attacked and overwhelmed. Failure to leave the plaza area for a better position within the next few moments will put their life at risk. All have suffered some cuts and bruises so far. Poorly kept weapons, claws, fangs, and all manner of bruit force has been brought to bare against the party. Aside from the stench, the party could also perceive the creak and sway of the massive branches and trees that supported all of them.

Labra was one of the few that was able to levitate enough to avoid injury, but only for the moment. So long as she performed no other abilities, she could continue to freely float, but the enemies were crafty and eyed her as they plotted. Perhaps even she would not be safe inevitably if she remained.

Tl;DR: Ren grabs Diana and launches the two into the air, demanding she create a plant bridge now.

Ren threw up a wall of ice spikes to try and further slow down the horde, but it wouldn't last long. At the least the discussion of various plans sounded viable...

"Just do... something! We have Monsters on the way. That ice no longer is slowing them." Ren yelled. "Let's just smash through and kill the portals, yes?"

Ren ran and grabbed Diana. "I take her and we kill portals NOW."

Ren was growling, ready for action. Words words words. She hated words! Ren needed to spring forward and take care of the problem now. If they dithered any longer the monsters were going to just walk right over them. Already they were battering the party. Ren created an ice spike right under them, launching the duo into the air.

"Need plant bridge now!" Ren yelled. "Do it!"

TLDR:
  • Lilirel begins to channel more energy so she can bring down the the platform with all the surrounding enemies
  • She tells everyone to get off the platform.

YY53pcY.png

Glancing towards Euthalia as she approached her, Lilirel nodded towards her fellow Apostle. "Any help is welcome." She smiled softly before returning her attention towards the pathway they faced. The hordes were growing closer and no decision was being made. Gritting her teeth Lilirel let out a sharp exhale.

In moments their foes surrounded them and everyone, regardless of their fighting skill had to do something. The first creak and groan of the platform beneath their feet had Lily looking down as she caught her breath. Channeling larger sums of evil energy into her being the Aasimar growled to herself. The white sclera of her eyes was being invaded by smoky, black tendrils; veins darkening across her form. "You all need to find a way off this platform!" She called to the group of Apostle's as she tried to move to a more central position on the platform. A grunt escaped her as she huffed against the stinging sensation coming from her forehead and shoulders. Dark almost black blood dripping down her face and back. Horns and wings just starting to poke through flesh.

leprechaun builds big bridge but is kinda weak yolo

As soon as Ren swooped Diana up and launched them into the air, a single thought pierced through the cloud of fears swirling through her mind and that was to survive. The white-haired woman's words rang in her ear and seemed to register in her powers faster than it did in her brain. The various green things her chaos had anchored onto earlier lurched in her gut, yanking them up. The swirling chaos in her system and the fear raging about mixed together and somehow created a falling sensation that she couldn't ignore. Her stomach lurched further when she realized they were actually falling.

Her life flashed before her eyes: the last time she had seen her mother. The butterflies from the orphanage garden. Tending the flowers outside of the abbey. That's when it hit her.

Every sensation coursing through her suddenly left her. The ginger was winded and her head was throbbing. Is this death?

Something shocked her into a sitting position. The fear and chaos filled her before she realized caused it. And when she opened her eyes, she realized she had fallen onto a patch of vibrant green moss that blanketed a large and intricate maze of interlocking logs and branches. A bridge large and sturdy enough to carry even Sorod for some time grew from a dozen trees with additions that, alone, could not hold them. But together, the bridge was strong. For now.

The bridge, although building it drained her to the point where she could only crawl, the lush surroundings and the (she very grudgingly admitted this) thirst for victory was filling her with energy much more rapidly than in the cave.

TL;DR:

-Shurik tries to fight for a bit, realizes quickly there are too many.
-Hears Lily Shout to get off the platform.
-Cuts the bridge as best he can and flees to the magical appearing sky-bridge and asks the others a question

Shurik Plate 500.png

The Horde grew closer and Shurik found himself hungry for the battle. As they collided on the front line, his sword swept wide across the entire walkway to decimate as many enemies as possible. He was lost in the fray. Very quickly all the enemies swarmed en masse around and in the group. Shurik found himself defending from all sides. He turned to punches and kicks when an enemy approached his flank, but simply found another in its place when he looked back once more. Everyone else seemed to be moving away from the platform as fast as they could. He heard Lily's call and understood instantly what was about to happen. "Shit."

Shurik Swung his sword across the ground and aimed to cut the walkway in front of him down. He would use the swords momentum to turn himself around and begin a mad dash towards a sky bridge that just appeared. He barreled through any enemies who stepped into his way, using his sword like a shield, flat side forward and horizontal with his body, and angling the blade to plow them to the side should they step up.

When he was close enough, He would launch himself up one of the connecting trees onto a branch intertwined with the bridge and and hopefully land on the edge of the bridge. "Quick thinking, friends." Shurik drew in a long breath and released it in a short huff. He noticed Diana on the ground and Ren. "What's next?"

Euthalia Apricot

TL;DR Euthalia climbs up a layer, potentially brings Lilirels stuff, keeps up with the rest of the party with her freshly gained high ground.

Euthalia's and Lilirel's efforts to keep the party from getting swarmed failed, as they weren't backed up by anyone else. It also turned out that Lilirel had made her own emergency plan, telling them all to get off the platform, which didn't sound all that promising. There was only one way leave at the moment, disregarding the lethal options, which was to retreat towards the trees and climb. Euthalia also noticed Lilirel slowly changing. She lost some of the warrior-maiden charms, but who knew, maybe she'd end up gaining some new ones. Regardless of that, Euthalia would pick up Lilirel's stuff and task herself with bringing it along.

She'd end up retreating to the tree by the time Diana had made a bridge. Although she shortly debated going after them, she quickly realised the flaw in that plan. The enemy might use the same strategy, breaking down the bridge and sending all of them down to their doom, especially if all of them were stuck on the same bridge. Being on separate walkways was probably the best way to reduce that kind of risk. As such, she'd climb up, hoping not to be grabbed and otherwise hoping to kick loose whatever grabbed her. Afterwards, she'd turn around instantly to see if she needed to help anyone else up or if she'd need to use the newfound range of her spear to keep enemies at bay for her allies to have a safe climb up.

With that done as well, she'd quickly try to route her way through the walkways in order to keep somewhat close to the rest of the party, albeit at a higher level. Assuming they were still going to the portals, she'd keep that place in mind in particular.

TLDR:
  • Lilirel's transformation continues, her intention becoming more clear.

YY53pcY.png

With her personal belongings taken care of, Lilirel wasted no time in taking in more concentrated energy from the chaos that surrounded them. Her fingernails sharpened into claws, fangs lengthening as the forming horns and wings grew longer, larger and more rapidly. The pained sounds that escaped her were kept to a minimum as her body began to shift as well. She did what she could to keep the enemies around her at bay, she could feel the platform she stood upon groan and shift with her growing form. Shurik had weakened one end and Lilirel hoped that in conjunction with her weight, it would be enough to collapse the damn thing and take all these beasts down with her.

TLDR: Jer does a thing

Suddenly, there was no more time to think- the army was here, and the platform was ready to go. He unfroze the water and pulled some towards him for later use. "There's no time to wait!" Jeremiah calls out. With a knife he swipes out at the chaos beasts long enough to give him a split second to run. Then, he raced towards the edge of the platform, using the momentum to jump off the platform to land on the sky bridge, near Diana and Ren. "No more words. Action! Ren and I have your back Diana!" Any monster that went near them got cut by Jeremiah's knife, as a revenge against them hurting him. His movements were economical, designed to waste as little energy as possible while also preventing as many monsters from getting close to them as possible.
He noticed Diana on the ground, and without even thinking he helped her up, letting the ginger lean against him.

TL;DR: Labra has energy plants.
Labra dropped out of the sky onto the plant thing that Diana had made. A small squeak left her mouth as her legs absorbed the fall, and throbbed for a few seconds. She sighed and rubbed them, before running towards the Earth Mother. Her hand in her herb bag as she ran, she pulled out a small plant as she stopped in front of Diana. The plant was a pale yellow, with small white flowers and larger white leaves.
"Eat this. It will help you with your energy. If you regain your energy, you have a greater chance of regaining your Chaos. Chew it into a paste and swallow. Be sure to eat all of it." She instructed, holding out the plant. She moved onto Ren next, and gave her the same plant with the same instructions. Then onto Jeremiah, then Shurik, Lilirel, and Euthalia. She glanced around for more Apostles, but saw none at the moment, and so watched the horde of monsters below them with a watchful eye, trying to see where the rest of her family was.

Forest Village of Pinnacle

As the situation turned dire, Diana was able to procure some hope for the party at the cost of her energy to keep fighting. A plant bridge of interconnected vines, branches, and other plant life formed as the individual pieces came together in the air. While the plant bridge was sturdy and not much different from the pathways already threading throughout the village, it was still connected to the village's existing pathways in several places. In the areas where it connected to the existing infastructure of the village, monsters started to scramble onto the bridge Diana made. While many lacked the appropriate body type to climb up or balance over to the main bridge, several still could and did.

While the party on the 'sky' bridge now had a growing path that led them directly through the village to the junction the thief and his women awaited the party with portals still active, they were left contending in the enemies now getting on the bridge. Fortunately, the bridge at the list narrowed down the directions the enemy could effectively come at them from to the front and rear. While above was an option....

Euthalia's upper level was crawling with enemies that were attempting to bypass the crowds and drop down on the party from above. However, with Euthalia there, they no longer focused on the party below and instead clamored for a chance to fight Euthalia. She would have to fight a growing number of enemies and run out of her way if she wished for even a chance of keeping up with the party on their more direct route below. The apostle being up there at least kept enemies from raining down on the party though.

Lilirel's growing form coupled with overwhelming enemy numbers finally crumbled the adjoining platform and a few connected pathways into the swirling mists below. Lilirel would pludge out of sight into the fog with the rest.

Up ahead of the party on the sky bridge, the portals' monsters started to get onto the sky bridge that connected to their platform and started to funnel more enemies directly towards the party. They couldn't stop their progress lest their risk getting overwhelmed again with even fewer places to run to. They would have to hope Labra's greens were enough for the moment.

Tl;DR: Ren stashes her plants, and rushes forward to clear a path for Diana and the others.

The Giant shattered the platform beneath them and Ren was grateful for that. That would limit the monsters. Diana followed orders and they landed on a mossy platform. No time to hesitate, they needed to smash and kill those portals.

"We kill portals. Simple."

She took the plant from Labra, but not being tired, she tucked it away with her food in her pocket.

Ren ran ahead, clearing a path towards the nearest portal, using Ice Wolf to make herself stronger. She had to keep moving to not freeze and kill the moss, but as long as Jeremiah backed up Diana, they could keep moving forward.

"Follow quickly!" she shouted back.

Ren grabbed and smashed in the head of a smaller monkey like monster, throwing it over the bridge as she went. No time for clean kills, only time for getting things done quickly and without getting too tired.

TL;DR: Stella had almost failed to jump on the bridge, but once she was on it she quickly continued clearing the way for Ren and Diana. She then had a plan of utilizing the plant from Labra to recharge her energy and create a light dome for her team.

Estella had waited at the bottom as they all moved towards the bridge quickly, her trusty little bow in her hands as she began shooting at the monsters that tried to come close. However, there was too many enemies and they had to quickly leave, causing Stella's light bow to dissipate in her hands and to immediately run towards the bridge and launch herself towards it. Almost failing her jump, she had to pull herself up the vine and was breathing heavily at the end of it. 'Jesus I almost died.' she whispered to herself and even though she wanted to take a moment to calm down she didn't have much of a choice. She immediately called out her light bow again and started aiming at the far away monsters that were moving closer towards them, sniping them one by one as fast as she could. She made sure that Ren and Diana was clear of enemies while keeping the back line clean. She was concerned however, as they were still quite far away from the thief and the portal. She was thinking that even if they reached the portal, they would need some time for Diana to destroy all three portals, and seeing Labra send out the plant Stella thought of another plan.

She waved towards Labra and asked for the plant, and had decided that she would start ingesting the plant once they were close enough, and when Diana is in the portal, she will summon a light dome that will protect their team from the other enemies that would otherwise corner them. While looking for Labra to wave at, she also took note at Euthalia's position, making sure to remind herself to also lookout for their team's healer that was alone at the high ground.

Euthalia Apricot

TL;DR Alone At The High Ground, Part 1:
Euthalia tries out various flavours of scented Chaos and spear wielding in an attempt to keep up with the party.

Euthalia watched Lilirel go down, as literally and fast as possible, which meant that she ended up being the only one taking the high ground. For as proud as Obi-Wan would be, It was far from ideal, but at least she was pulling away some enemies from raining down on her allies. The downside? She was pretty much going solo here, which was both lonely and not really suiting her current built preferable way of dealing with fights. There was one benefit, however, which was that she could spread a variety of poisonous scents to see if anything she had was able to weaken, kill, daze, intoxicate… basically do anything harmful… to any of the creatures storming around. With her allies being far enough way, she would no longer risk having them breath in any of these fragrances.

Were those scents to fail, or to deliver unsatisfactory results, she'd switch to seeing if any of her more repugnant scents would work (at the risk of only attracting these equally foul smelling creatures) or if any of the bugs she was able to attract could distract these creatures enough to tumble them down into the depths below. With some luck, any of these tricks, combined with newfound spear and armour, would allow her to keep up with the party.

For as far as Labra's plant went… lacking a digestive system, there was little that Euthalia could do with it, other than maybe wearing it as decoration. The idea was nice, but the result wouldn't be able to come out. At least her second-favourite source of light (coming in second behind the sun, but beating the moon by a margin), Estella, was keeping an eye out for her as well.

TL;DR: Shurik rushes ahead and helps Ren Keep the way in front of them clear.

Shurik was able to catch his breath for a second as he watched the platform below them collapse and send Lily along with many of the attacking monsters into whatever waited below. Shurik turned to watch the interactions with everyone else before letting out a huff through his nose. He accepted the plant from Labra and stuffed it into his mouth between his gums and lips. He wasn't extremely tired now, but it would come in use at a later time.

As a couple others took care of Diana, Shurik found himself grateful for not having to carry her this time. For the next part of this he would need to be able to use everything he had. Shurik rolled his shoulders back and continued the rolling pressure along his spine. "Here goes nothing." Shurik watched Ren as he started down the path and after a few seconds, he began to follow. He kept pace about seven feet behind Ren as they both dashed down the bridge. Whatever got by Ren, Shurik was quick to remove from the path.

They moved ever closer to the front of the bridge, The Thief and his portals growing closer and closer. The front of monsters from the main platform that now moved toward them also grew closer. Shurik's lips curled into a snarl and he began to pick up his pace as they rushed forward.

TL;DR: Labra gives hugs to Stella then attempts to make it to the thief without dying. Cause dying would be bad.

Labra grinned, happy that she could be off help. Noticing Stella waving at her, she trotted over and held out an energy plant. After giving Stella the plant, she hugged her leg tight before activating Hidden Moon. Turning away from those gathered there, she broke out in a dead run, trying to put as much distance between them as possible before activating Wingless Flight. Ignoring how the drop in her energy made her falter, she zoomed off towards the thief, and with him, the relic that Mr.Abbot had wanted them to get.

She made it part of the way before dropping out of the sky into a tree and crouched on a branch there, releasing the two spells and instead trying to conceal herself in the shadows. Not sure how well that worked, but she did it anyways.
"Alright, get in, grab the relic if possible, and get out. Gotcha. Let's do this. Protect the Swarm, live another day-or die. Either way I'm getting that relic." She whispered softly to herself, steeling herself to do just what she intended. Activating both spells again, she took off again, trying to get to the thief and grab the relic if possible. But only fate will decide if she makes it or not.

Forest Village of Pinnacle

With a few members of the party staying behind with the weary Diana, waiting for her to get her strength back, Euthalia had no issue keeping pace with them from above. They were barely moving if at all. Once Stella erected her light barrier, their movement stopped entirely. The monsters did not stop, however, and continued clambering onto the bridge to surround the party on 2 sides. So long as the barrier held, they felt safe inside, but it would not hold forever.

Euthalia's poisons seemed to work well enough. Those that it didn't cause instant death to, it at least weakened, allowing her to make several killing strokes. Something she would have to be mindful of while dispersing her poisons was that there was no breeze, so her toxins and scents would slowly drift down to the party below if she continued to use them like she was. While the numbers of enemies on the higher level were fewer, without her scents, her ability to continue combating the enemies that were slowly encircling her would become increasingly dangerous.

Meanwhile, Ren and Shurik were cleaving a blood and ashes covered path to the central platform that the thief and the portals waited on. The fight was like moving uphill and only grew more fierce by the moment. Situations grew worse when the party stopped moving to keep up behind them. Monsters had gotten on the bridge and would move to surround them in time. They would continue to struggle, and the odds of their survival would continue to shrink. They managed to reach the central platform, but before they could step foot on it, a dark miasma descended on the monsters crowding to meet them. With painful gasps and screams, the monsters writhed and dropped to the ground, many falling off the walkways. From the dark miasma, bone warriors like those in the mines manifested. Armored and armed, they were not nearly so mindless or easy to deal with. They were clearly being puppeteered by the seductive woman that kept the Thief company. With incomprehensible chants and peculiar gesticulations, the women moved and marched the bone soldiers to meet Shurik and Ren in battle formations.

The Thief sat in his bone throne swirling would could have been a drink in his chalice, the stolen artifact. He smiled faintly as the appearance of the Apostles, but made no move to suggest he was concerned. Labra's flying invisibilty seemed to be working as the thief did not look in her direction. She was able to move in without being attacked and grabbed the chalice. However, she was unable to wrench it free of the man's hand. It was then he looked at her with red eyes, despite her still being invisible.

"You want this? Well, you may not have it..."

He said in an elegant voice before splashing her invisible form with the contents of the cup. In addition to making her invisible form stand out, the liquid the reached the platform immediately pooled, vaporized, and formed another ghostly looking portal of light. Another barely dressed woman walked out, nodded to the rogue, and wickedly turned on Labra with all her malice. The woman showed labra a smile of rotted teeth and a sadistic cackle.

TL;DR: Labra done goofed. Whoops. Trying to grab cup when possible, avoiding some scandalous woman, yelling at a thief, and whapping people on heads with a wand. . .Shes trying

Labra gasped as the liquid of whatever was in the cup drenched her. Shaking off as much water as she could, literally shaking it off, she let go of her invisability spell and glared at the thief. "Excuse me mister! You shouldn't have stolen that! That's not yours! What reason do you have taking it from Mr.Abbot?" She asked, pointing an accusing finger at the thief and ran behind his chair, trying to avoid the woman. "Ack! Another woman! Put some clothes on! Why do they have no clothes on?!" The Moon Imp yelped, avoiding the woman by running away everytime she got near. "Please-yikes!"

She cast Wingless Flight and flew up above both of their heads, avoiding the woman as best as she could. Taking her wand out of her sleeve, she dropped altitude, whapping the woman and the thief on the head before flying back up, still eyeing the stolen relic, ready to move in and swipe it when she could. She tried to stay in one place, only moving when she wanted to hit them on the head, and when the woman tried to get her, in order to preserve as much energy as possible.

TLDR: Diana hippity hops off the bridge and gives Jerimiah the option to do so too. She/they hopefully land on her desired target.

Diana used the time she spent gaining back her energy to observe. She was still in imminent danger, but much less so than if she was on the platform. She shuddered to think of what would happen if Ren hadn't taken action. The red-head looked at each portal with growing discomfort: there was no way she could take them all out by herself, despite what the others thought.

Suddenly, another portal burst into existence, spawning another one of those grotesque troll-women who have a rough time putting on clothes in the morning. Diana groaned out loud in return, quite sick of the sight of shimmering lights. Gritting her teeth, she focused on moving with Jerimiah across the bridge step by step and tried her best not to get in the way of any combat. A sudden and quick pang of panic plowed into her and she looked up to face those horrible dead things that had been in the mines. A new sense of urgency filled her.

Diana forced her eyes open and, still leaning on Jerimiah, looked up at him. "We have to get off this bridge and destroy those portals!" she said, raising her voice just above the racket so that all those in the vicinity could hear. Her words sounding like a summarization of her mission, but it was a warning more than anything else. She didn't want to force him to follow her plan, especially if it would conflict with his own, so she gave him this suggestion. "If you want to get off the bridge and onto the platform now, follow me!"

The ginger shut her eyes and proceeded to fall off the bridge.

A thick and green vine wrapped around her wrist several times just as she was about to plummet to the ground. She felt a harsh tug on her arm socket, but it was much perferable to pretty much any other fate available. Concealed by the shadow of the bridge, she dangled freely about two yards from the bottom of her prior creation. Diana prayed her instincts gave Jerimiah (only if he chose to jump as well) the same fate. She forced the vine to travel toward the edge of the platform, connecting with other vines and growing across the bottom of the bridge towards a cluster of trees on the enemy's platform that may conceal her/them for a time being from prying eyes. The action was draining, but the adrenaline coursing through her kept the chaos flow steady enough.

Diana had enough energy to walk and conjure some greenery here and there, but conserving that energy was her main priority. Or... was it? The thought of her teammates suddenly came into her mind and she turned her gaze to the bridge. There had to have been more she could have done. She shook her head. They were apostles, they could do this! Or, she hoped they could. Perhaps she could provide a distraction so they could get off? No, no. She needed to focus on the portals.

  • Lilirel flies back up to the group

YY53pcY.png

It was in the midst of her free fall that Lilirel managed to complete her shift. A loud whoosh echoing as leathery wings snapped open and began to push the demoness upward. Flying just slightly to the left, away from where all her fellow Apostles had escaped to, Lilirel pushed herself up faster, an array of bridges and platforms overhead. She positioned herself in a way that she hoped would bring destruction to these structures and cause more creatures to fall to their deaths. Coming up through these bridges, Lilirel would then position herself across the two nearest platforms, distributing her weight across a couple platforms instead of a single one. She wished to avoid having to fly back up to her team.

TLDR: Jeremiah is worried about Labra but also acts as Diana's bodyguard.

Jeremiah looked at Diana who has just...fallen off of the bridge. Well, that was one way to make him act. He had been fending off monsters all the while, and she had just dropped. His luck for choosing to be her bodyguard. The herb Euthalia had given him was tucked away in a side pocket, ready to be eaten when he was feeling low. Feeling cautious, he swiped out with Chaos to buy himself a few seconds, using the time to jump off the bridge, catching himself in a shoulder roll that displaced the force that probably would have broken something.

"Damnit Diana." Jeremiah said, reaching towards her to help her up again. "We have to head for Ren and Shurik." They were paving the way, but someone had to take care of Diana, who seemed to not be doing a great job of it herself. He hoisted her upward as if she was his drunk friend he was carrying home, lifting her up so she was piggybacking him.

"Wait up!" Jeremiah called to Ren and Shurik, chasing after them with a light jog while fending off Chaos beasts. He could see that Labra was all by herself. The imp should probably teleport to them, as she was by herself, which was worrying. That was something he had to focus about later, as right now he had to get himself and Diana to the others. His cuts and wounds burned with the weight of Diana on his shoulders, but be could take it.
It took time, but with dedication and work, he managed to fight his way to Ren and Shurik, letting them do the fighting heavy lifting while he helped fend off the Chaos beasts.
