TLDR:
  • Lilirel gets Shurik out of his Fugue State.
  • She goes back to her position next to Sorod.
  • She uses a Blood Vine to fill in the gap on the other side until someone steps up.
  • Lilirel brings up the idea of causing another cave-in.

YY53pcY.png

Lilirel’s assumptions were incorrect. Sorod moved back sooner than Shurik who remained in the front, attacking non-stop while bellowing primal roars. The aasimar bared her teeth as she exhaled sharply. His aggressive state was beneficial in cleaving through the skeletons, but the one-track mindset was obviously making it difficult to work as a group and could also prove dangerous to Shurik himself if he was stuck out in front alone. Taking a deep breath in through her nose, Lilirel rushed forward. Darting passed Sorod, blade sheathed on her back. “SHURIK!” She called to him. “EDARIS!” Lilirel made sure to enunciate clearly before lowering her form. Shoulder to his waist, arms coming around his knees. She heaved the man up and onto her shoulder with a small grunt and a momentary adjustment in her stance before pushing forward.

Making her way behind Sorod she put down the large man closer to the back of the group, near Euthalia and Stella, so he could have a moment to regain himself if he hadn’t already. She let out a long breath before drawing her weapon once more. Stepping up closer to Sorod she kept her eye on the horde. Summoning a large blood vine in the gap on the other side of the iron golem just to help keep the skeletons at bay, until someone could fill that gap.

If they continued to retreat as the tunnel narrowed behind them, they would have to fight less Skeletons at once. Looking up and around Lily clenched her jaw. Could they succeed in controlling another cave-in? It had worked well enough the last time. “How do you all feel about bringing this ceiling down?” She looked up again before glancing over her shoulder and briefly looking towards each group member. “It worked pretty well last time. Think we’d be lucky enough to make it work again?” Her eyes lingered on Shurik. He had caused the cave-in last time. Perhaps allowing him to do it again would yield the same results? She was unsure, but it was an idea.

Situation
Time: 4:10 PM
Date: October 17th 327(CE)
Weather: Partly cloudy with otherwise blue skies and cool weather and a warm sun. Inside Taruhm, its warmer like used gymnasium and lit by torches and the occasional arrow slits. In the mine, there was a bit of airflow, but the only heat came from their light sources. Otherwise it was cool and with little air movement.

TooLongDidn'tRead: The multiple fronts of battle still craved resolution, but members of the party were beginning to lose their resolve...

Note From The Author: (More attacks means less accuracy and in some cases more energy spent)
Post Listening:

Ooze Fight
Labra's valient effort used most of her energy, but she was able to lasso Zayne from the ooze that held him. However, the ooze was not eager to let go of it's meal. In the faint glow of the chaos tentacle, other tentacles of ooze appeared and stretched out to feel out the cave. It was only a matter of time before they found Zayne and reeled him back in and Labra soon after. If nothing was done, their acidic kiss would soon caress the both of them.

Tunnel Defense
The uneven retreat left the Apostle line broken. When Sorod dropped his taunting in favor of the retreat, the skeletal warriors swarmed the Apostles, surrounding them quickly despite Sorod's size and Lilirel's support. Fortunately, the warriors to the party's rear were still few in number. A solid effort by the party may allow them to push past the enemy to continue fleeing down the tunnel. However, before that time, they would need to weather the storm. No longer as protected, the Apostles faced enemies on nearly all sides and would be forced to fight for their lives while standing back to back. Shurik, Sorod, and Lilirel received a couple wounds apiece in the struggle with more promised unless they could turn things around...

The 3 Sisters
The group fighting the witches also needed to hurry. With Knell severely injured and Jeremiah not far behind her, the party would need to settle things or risk casualties. Little did they know of the approaching undead army no longer being held by their allies far down the tunnel. Fortunately, the effort was there. Ren was unable to grab ahold of the wounded woman. It seemed she had not interest in being restrained again. However, one of the icy slashes did connect to send up a spray of blood and an accompanied scream from the witch. She was not dead, but she would be not long for the world if she did not stifle the bleeding. Has her dark red blood oozed from her wounds and dotted the shallow water, she started to cackle maniacally. That's when Ren and Jeremiah would feel like they were standing in acid. Dark pools of something unearthly were clawing at their feet and legs and trying to drag them down would leeching their life force. While both would manage to pull away, Ren was now as injured as Jeremiah was despite the icy armor and Jeremiah was little better than Knell who was nearly defenseless before the other hag.

To add to their problems, Jeremiah managed to exhaust what was left of his energy and would need time to regain his strength. Despite his flurry of icy attacks on the witch in the rear, she was not so easily put down. Unlike her sisters, she was still fully fighting ready. It seemed as though she looked forward to the challenge as she sauntered toward Jeremiah as he attempted to keep his distance. The unfortunate events continued. She already displayed she had the power to assault the party at range. Jeremiah was not safe as she held out her sceptor towards him. He had gained the aggro he hoped for, but at what cost? Dark energies swirled and mingled with the green of her scepter before streaking towards Jeremiah...and stealing away what was left of his life and energy into a dark cloud that disappeared like the life in his eyes. He would splash into the water with eyes still open and face exposed to the air, a shocked expression permanently plastered on his face...

If only...followers of the way could die so easy. At the core of Jeremiah's being, the script etched into him began to glow and the chaos in and around him began to churn.

"Rise"

Came the disembodied command issued to Jeremiah as he stood at the precipice between living and not. Eyes would blink and his breath would return to what looked like his corpse just a moment ago.

However, the struggle for the rest of the party continued. With Knell being little more than decoration at this point, Amira was left facing the 3rd sister on her own. Even with her enhanced speed and defenses, her flurry of attacks could not break the woman's guard as she whipped the bone scepter around with incredible expertise. The two continue their struggle to the side of the shimmering portal while the light illuminated all their nasty and beautiful expressions and movements. A light breeze tugged at the fabrics they wore and their hair, but nothing could distract this dance. Amira's sturdier body proved resilient enough to shrug off the blows of the scepter that managed to get through.

Elsewhere...?
Diana's efforts were baring fruit, literally. The trees and shrugs touched by her power began to turn green and flowers and fruits started to bud. The alters were for the most party disturbed and all manner of vegetation was now outstretched toward the portal and overgrowing the stones of the altar the portal was perched upon. The light of the portal seemed to start to waver. Diana knew if should could destroy the gate, she might be able to shut off access to the power of her enemies on the other side. But if she wasn't careful, she would also wind up sealing herself on the wrong side and potentially trapping herself there indefinitely...

_____________________________________

While trapped within the strange ooze with still no way out, Zayne continued to struggle wherever and however he could to get free while the other Apostle attempted to free him. The only thing keeping his flesh from burning off by this point was his Chaos that he had focused into a center point within his body.
Moments passed as his Chaos continued to drain with every second he spent in the ooze, the sudden tug at his body only to be freed in mere seconds had been unexpected as he fell over onto the floor beside his fellow Apostle. It was Labra, and by the look of it, she was injured due to her attempts of rescuing him.

"I..I'm sorry--"
Just as he apologized for getting her injured, the sudden tug at his ankle and burning sensation returning only upon his ankle caught his attention. Turning his gaze in the direction of the tugging, he lit up a small ball of fire with whatever Chaos he still had left only to find the hostile ooze had shown itself with many more tentacles.

"Miss..Labra. Stay behind..me and cover your eyes.." Panting with each word he spoke from what little Chaos he still had left. Resisting the pull from the oozing tentacle, Zayne once again focused all his energy into the center of his body once more as it caused his blue hair to fade into a silvery white even moreso.
Although it was only for a moment, a smirk spread across his lips before cracks began to form upon his face, and arms all over. "Return to ashes..!" In an instant, his eyes began to glow a bright orangey red as his body exploded into a blast of fire that enveloped the entire tunnel in smoldering heat while the fire avoided Labra as long as she remained around him while only emitting a slight warm sensation rather than everything else in the tunnel to burn and melt away anything that came into contact with the fire.

The fire would last for a couple of minutes before finally dissipating leaving a large pile of ashes where he once stood leaving a small boy with blue hair laying there in the same clothing that was just slightly too large for him.

Euthalia Apricot

TL;DR Euthalia agreed with the plan to bring the tunnel down and spreads a scent to increase everyone's focus. She'll follow up on further suggestions regarding the retreat or tunnel breakdown.

Although she was greeted by some of her fellow Apostles, none of them informed her what this undead horde was about. Either they didn't know about it or they didn't care to inform her. Whichever it was, Euthalia would have to deal with the fact that she was fighting without knowing the reason. She was okay with the idea of falling back and would gladly do so but the suggestion was posted after I posted and I didn't double-post which defaulted to Euthalia not going along, but Sorod figured it was also a good time to let through some enemies, which meant Euthalia wasn't in an immediately position to retreat. 'Wait. Did he just call me lettuce? How odd.' She was pretty far from being lettuce, about as far as a frog was from a human.

It didn't matter much, for now, as the undead horde was a bit more urgent. The fact that Shurik had stayed behind in a state of rage wasn't ideal either, but Lilirel went to pick him up. As for bringing the place down. “I've got no objections.” That said, she had little luxury in chatting a lot, as they had been fairly surrounded. It meant even a mostly supportive character like her had to pitch in to keep the horde from overrunning the group of them. She mostly played defensive, only lunging her dagger towards the skull of any skeleton that got too close for comfort.

However, she realised it wasn't the only task at hand. Although some party members got new wounds, they weren't too severe. What was severe, however, was that Shurik needed to get back into action quickly. She could help with that, as she spread a scent that would help increase the focus of their allies. It was likely to help Shurik snap back out of rage with more easy and would hopefully help the rest to gather their thoughts and tactics a little easier, as breaking through the ranks of the undead horde to retreat and bringing the tunnel down would need a fair bit of coordination and focus. Whatever they'd do to break through the ranks, retreat into the tunnel, and bring the roof down, she'd go along with and try to assist them where possible. That included becoming the fated carrier of the wielder of light, also known as picking up Estella after she used up all her magic. “I'd be my honour.” It'd also keep the real warriors able to protect the rest of them.

TL;DR:

  • Shurik is woken up by Lilirel and with Euthalia's scents recovers quickly.
  • He surveys the situation of being surrounded while contemplating the tunnel collapse.
  • Shurik lets the party know he needs ammo, a spell, and suggests getting further down and in front of the horde.
  • Shurik starts clearing the way forward into the tunnel.

Shurik Plate 500.png
Shurik had just cleaved another Skeleton in half when his name was called. He turned his gaze towards the sound, those glowing Cat like eyes staring at Lilirel for only a moment before she called out the codeword he had given her. Those primal, fiery eyes suddenly dimmed to Shurik’s normal gaze. He stumbled as he was awoken but before he could stumble further, he felt the collision of their bodies as Lilirel throw her shoulder into him and lift him off his feet. Confusion racked his brain as he bobbed in the air before he was set down. Back with the others, Shurik regained his balance a little faster thanks to the scents from Euthalia wafting around him. The old wound stung as did the newer ones as he fully came to. He had been hit more than he thought but he wouldn’t let that stop him.

Shurik surveyed the situation they had found himself in. He had not heard the order to retreat in his wild state and this caused the line to collapse. He looked around him as the undead began to corner the group into a pocket. Back to back, they stood. Shurik growled under his breath as he drew his sword back up and defended. He heard Lilirel’s idea about bringing the ceiling down on the undead once more. He caught her gaze for a second and shook his head. “I only had the one shot enchanted. I can’t use it again unless a mage casts a spell on one of the runes.” He sighed, “We’d have to think of something else to bring it down or someone’s going to have to use some energy to arm my arm. But first, we have to get back in front of this Horde.”

Shurik noticed that the army wasn’t that deep in the tunnel and that maybe two ranks separated the group from being able to get deeper into the tunnels. “Well, I suggest more now, than later.” Shurik drew up his blade out of the defensive and into an attack position before he suddenly rushed forward “Follow me.” He brought his blade out in front of him and collided the flat side against as many skeleton warriors he could to knock them into the back rank behind them. If he got both close enough, Shurik would throw his shoulder against his blade in hopes of knocking the undead warriors off balance and just clear enough of his sword to execute his second motion, a swift spin, bringing himself full circle to cleave the skeletons and some of the ones on either side away to leave a gap for the party to quickly move through. If Shurik cleared the way, he’d start clearing any that tried to enter the newly formed gap from the left side of the cave while moving back to keep ahead of the horde. He hoped the party could follow through.

TL;DR: Labra follows the advice of Zayne and stays by him, pulling back in what Moon Chaos she could before covering her eyes and waits for what ever happened to pass. After that happened, she looked around, then scans the child she sees. Scans for the other Apostles and their levels. Scans herself. Misses the moon. Kinda starts to cry.
Labra's concentration wavered as the Moon Chaos tethered to her gave a vicious yank to the Phoenix. The attempt to get him out worked, but it seemed that the ooze didn't want to give up the chance of fresh meat. It whipped it's tentacles around her sleeve covered arm, starting to seep through the material. The words spoken by the Phoenix swirled around her head as the pain of extending herself over her limit and the burns from the ooze clouded her mind. She followed the fellow Apostle's advice though, and stayed behind him, tugging on the tether of Chaos, and getting back what she could into her core. That done quickly, she returned her scarf to it proper place and tugged her hood over her eyes, shielding them.
A bright outburst of light and waves of heat later, the Moon Imp peered out from behind her hood, feeling like she had just passed through a hot spring. Her sensitive skin sent alarms all around her, and on instinct, a flash of Moon Chaos flared out from below her scarf and over her limbs, cooling them. Big black eyes blinked in curiosity as Labra peered around at her surroundings. A pile of ashes surrounded a small boy with blue hair and oversized clothing and her, while the ooze stuff was burned and drawn back. Satisfied that the ooze wasn't a threat for now, she turned her attention to the boy.

Blue hair...Is this is Phoenix in his newborn state? Certainly looks the same. He might need new clothes...I think I have a needle in my bag somewhere, could just stitch up the clothes he has now so we could move more easily and quickly. She thought, tilting her head and staring at the child blankly, before closing her eyes and searching for her fellow Apostle's Chaos trails. After a minute of searching, she found them and surveyed their levels. Jeremiah had strange levels of energy and Chaos radiating from his core, but he was still alive, so she moved on. The golem and the others with him defending the tunnel seemed closer to the chamber with the sisters then before, but she brushed it off and went through a quick check of her own levels. Low energy, low Chaos, low everything. Oh, moon fungus. I need to get back in the moonlight soon. I hate being underground. I miss the moon. Her eyes still closed, a faint shimmer of Moon Chaos on her skin, and dirt all over her formerly white clothes, Labra sighed deeply, and a small tear ran from the corner of her eye to the bottom of her chin, trembling there.

Tl;DR: Ren sends a parting Ice Spike at the bleeding witch and carries Jeremiah back to the mouth of the cave

Ren started to pant from exhaustion, but only took a moment to observe her handiwork. The frost creeping around her body was slowly pulling her down. Already frost was crawling up under her eye, and she'd have to finish off this witch soon. Just one more push and...

Splash.

Jeremiah fell into the water. Ren felt hands pulling her down.... down... but she could survive it. However, if Jermiah was dead or just sleeping...

Ren turned quickly back at the bleeding witch, her eyes leaving red light trails in the dark. I'll kill you. Ren threw up ice spikes towards the witch, then sprinted for Jeremiah. He was the more immediate thing. Was he breathing was he okay? Ren pulled Jeremiah from the water and dashed back to the mouth of the cave, trying to get him out of the water.

Once he was on the ground, Ren tried to hit his chest. It was far to gentle to be effective, but she'd seen people do that and it seemed to help. Ren cursed her stupidity. If she was smarter she could have helped him sooner.

Ren was so stupid. She knew this, and still... she could do absolutely nothing.

"Sorry. Sorry sorry sorry..."

Ren kept gently thumping Jeremiah's chest, trying to make him stop sleeping. To just be okay. Tears were the only thing cutting through the frost building up on her face. She couldn't even really see through one eye, she had expended so much chaos, but it was all pointless. They had already lost so many people just in this mine. She just hoped that the artifact was worth it.

TLDR: Jeremiah died and came back to life. Bring Me to Life plays in the background.

He was dodging and fighting as best as he could when the unthinkable happened- his tank ran out. That horrifying realization came to him, and the disgusting woman seemed to take advantage of that. The accursed wand flashed, and there was nothing. He couldn't feel...anything anymore- not falling into the water, not anything.

Jeremiah could feel himself at the precipice between life and death, and death had been winning, until a voice called to him. Chaos surged through him, pulling him back from the edge. His spirit was strong, and he was willing to fight.

This was it- he had been given another chance- and this time, he couldn't waste it by being gung-ho in battle. He was mortal like everyone- and dying had taught him an important lesson- he was strong, but there would always be someone stronger than him. He couldn't do it alone- he needed help. This had been too close of a call. Though he was patient. They could come back, murder the women later when he had his strength again. Then he would eat their corpses with spite.

Breath rushed back into his body, and he started breathing again. His eyes fluttered open to see Ren, a sight that made him relax. "Get Diana....everyone retreat. Kill them....later....with rocks." Jeremiah said as loud as he could, his voice coming out as a sort of mumble that only Ren would hear. The exhaustion was still there, but they had to leave, now. Someone else could hurt the witches later. They were under a mountain- maybe it was time to cause an accident- once the Apostles grouped together. With labored breathing, he stood up- the scales that had appeared on him from the dunking seemed to melt away as his back was free from the water.

Jeremiah was empty, and he didn't like being empty. It took effort, but he was up on his feet, although now he really looked like death warmed over. "We have to get out of range. Let Amira take care of our backs. The rest of us...not so much." With that, he fell back, trying to pull Ten with him so she wouldn't be hurt as well. She looked almost as shitty as he felt- probably why everyone had freaked out over his would being ripped out from his body.

TL;DR: Estella decided to trust in her teammates and use her remaining energy to charge Shurik's arm as best she can.

Stella had continued to fight, and amidst the chaos of clanking and grunting, she heard Shurik say something about needing to enchant his arm again to follow Lilirel's plan of bringing the tunnel down. Maybe it was because of Euthalia's scent that gave her focus, causing her to be more brave, or maybe it was the heat of the moment, but Stella had decided that she could maybe try to enchant Shurik's arm with a concentrated light orb. However, it would cause her to collapse for a while due to her energy levels already on the below average side. Shurik hadn't delayed and immediately cleaved a path forward, and Stella decided to follow suit. She closed her eyes and both her light orb and bow dissipated, and the tunnel was left in darkness, but only for a moment. The next second the tunnel was once again lit up, but this time it was from her light shield that she had formed that was attached to her right forearm. Using her left hand, she grabbed her pocket knife and prepared herself for the close quarter combat, all while making sure Euthalia would be close by.

As she moved closer to Shurik, with the aid of Euthalia's scents she spoke to him as loud as she could, hoping her voice would reach him through the chaotic battlefield. "I can recharge your arm with my light magic, however I will collapse after." She quickly turned to Lilirel, Sorod and Euthalia, continuing her words while stabbing away at any undead. "I will need... help after I collapse to bring me with you." She ended her sentence, her knife once again clashing into one of the bodies of the undead that had lunged at her.

  • Lilirel follows the rest of the party.
  • She tries to clear any stray skeletons on her side.
  • Lilirel summons a large bloodvine just passed the furthest Apostle and lets it sweep in a wide arc, colliding with the wall and any skeletons close to it.

YY53pcY.png

Lilirel bared her teeth as the undead spilled through to begin surrounding them. She listened to what the rest of her group had to say, staying silent for the most part and following. As Shurik cleared the undead, she made sure to stay on her side and follow suit. Attacking when necessary, cleaving through whatever came forward. Clenching her jaw Lilirel focused her chaos. Summoning a single, large blood vine beyond the furthest group member, she made sure to bring it forth close to one of the cavern walls. It swung viciously, slamming against stone and sweeping at any skeletal warriors it could reach.

TooLongDidn'tRead: Sorod follows the suggestion of the others, and offers to carry Stella later on.

Bearing the burden of the tide, Sorod gave himself some space to breath temporarily, luckily, the others were quick enough to catch his drift. Listening to their ideas, he felt discomfort within him as he glanced momentarily upwards, doubting the safety of such an idea in a place like this. A false move could lead to all their downfall, should the collapse of the ceiling go in a direction they didn't desire.

"So-That is a terrible idea, if I am going to be honest-Rod. So-But it seems our options don't really allow us the benefit of a choice, I shall catch Little-Star-Rod."

He strode forward and slammed aside one of the breaching undead, crushing it into fine dust that added another layer onto the cave floor. He followed after Shurik's onslaught and covered the areas where the others left small windows, using his longer range to his advantage. Serving as a shield and a spear, a typical purpose he has long fulfilled, and will only continue to. The simplicity of his work made things easier for him, so he let the others lead their progression without voicing too much of his worries and complaints.

The mountain above them still bore down on the Iron Giant, but he spoke no squeak nor squawk.

Because he knows he'll have to eventually face this fear of his, and to do that, he just has to put his feet upon the peak. Easy.

TL;DR: Shurik opens the rune compartment and instructs Stella on how to charge the rune for an attack after they have confirmation someone will be able to carry her.

Shurik Plate 500.png
Shurik defended the line and watched as the others fell into position once more for the defense. He heard the voice of Stella as she came up beside him and then heard the calls of Euthalia and Sorod, offering to carry her after she had used her energy. Shurik nodded and switched his sword into his real hand. Shurik Continued to swing defensively against the enemy as he slapped the metal arm against his leg and a small plate slid back revealing five runes and a space that looked burned into the metal. “Alright. Looks like we have you covered. Don’t go too ham or I’ll be down an arm the rest of the fight.” Shurik held his arm as steady as possible so that Stella could focus in on the rune. “Cast your spell on the rune itself. It’ll absorb from there,” He instructed. ‘Do or die time Shurik,’ he muttered to himself ‘this could hurt.’

the leprechaun, like a dumbass edgelord, tries to tear the portal in two while she jumps into the portal, attempting to either take it with her into the cave or destroy it entirely

~~

Diana, instead of feeling at all drained by her work, felt rejuvenated. The fear of her surroundings seeped into her handiwork, taking away the horrible feeling in her gut yet leaving the invigorating adrenaline coursing through her. She swore she could feel the Chaos twisting and turning throughout her body and soaring into the scene around her. And the sight of lush, green grass and sweet-smelling roses made her want to laugh with relief. She couldn't remember ever feeling so filled with power, despite having been so many times before.

But she had work to do.

As grass grew and buds bloomed, she continued to pull the sturdy branches and slithering vines and wrap them around the portal. Satisfaction beamed from her grin when she noticed the wavering of the light. For the first time she had tried to destroy a magical portal, she was doing a pretty good job. But it also meant she had to be careful. If she tore it apart too soon, she'd be trapped in this place forever. She frowned. The magnitude of her job finally scared her. Either she'd die, her friends would die, and people she didn't even know would die, or it might work out. But the ginger couldn't afford to think like that. Hopefully, providence would be on her side. Pushing away any thought of hesitation she had, she continued to work.

The ginger turned towards the light. The branches were beginning to bloom little leaves and flower buds. Diana bent down, plucked a poppy from the ground beside her feet, and put it in her pocket. She took a deep breath and stepped several steps backward, pushing Chaos into the branches tied about the portal and binding them to her hands as if the Chaos were an invisible rope.

"Here goes nothing," she whispered to herself, steeling herself for what she was going to do next.

Gritting her teeth and shutting her eyes, she charged towards the portal. The "ropes" connecting her and the portal tightened with every stride. Then, yanking the tree-covered exit with every measure of strength and Chaos inside of her, she leaped into the portal.

What happened next, she had no idea.

TLDR: Further engaged the sister, spoke briefly to the apostles. She transformed into the jade serpent and changed target. Focusing her attention on the wounded sister.

In the midst of the fight. Amira found herself forced back towards the far wall. Blow for blow she could not find an opportunity to exploit in the woman's defense. The excite grew inside her as each assault was met with resistance. A bubbling chuckle ripped her throat as she blocked a sudden swing to her chest, no doubt if it had connected her rib cage would have shattered. But a quick reaction from deft hands, connected the blades in time. A vibration shook through the metal as the daggers strained against the shaft of the scepter; near black eyes connected wildly with the woman before her. With an exchange for a brief moment of speed, the strength in her body increased immensely. In a display of warriors vigor she expelled with an extending of her tongue; followed with a grotesque noise roared from her lungs. Enhancing the image of her savagery, as she became the idea of a mad woman in the heat of battle. Amira pushed back against the woman, forcing distance between them.
"IS THIS THE BEST YOU HAVE TO OFFER ME!" she shouted, raising her arms both daggers dangling from her hands. She pointed to each woman, finding her eyes could see the retreating form of Jeremiah and Ren. "You, and you, AND YOU! Are worth nothing!..I will help you, return to nothing. Be grateful for my kindness." her voice lowered at the end of her words. In a display of speed she moved towards Jeremiah and Ren, standing between them and the women. Not for their protection, but for her own pleasure as she spoke to both of the apostles. "Is something the matter? Are you not welcoming the embrace of death they offer, fellow apostles? Is it not a seductive promise...It can be quite the attractive mistress, if you know how to tame it." she smiled but it did not reach her speak of happiness, only a smile of death.
"Do you remember what I said Jeremiah. I will happily take on all three...Enjoy your entertainment." she dropped her daggers into the shallow water, and raised both hands to run through damp hair. Soft as silk, dark as midnight. A breath escaped her lungs, as she looked up to the ceiling. Eyes admired the natural beauty of the mines. As human eyes shifted into those of a serpent. Her body crack and broke, stretching as skin became dark green scales. Crests of sharp bone flowed down the spine of the serpents form. The shadow of the serpent engulfed the image of both Ren and Jeremiah at the entrance as the serpent grew to an immense size. The head sharp, wide, with rows of sword like teeth in its mouth, the size reached that of the body of a grown man; capable of crushing one between its jaw.
The throat of the serpent bobbed, as a low guttural sound came forth as if the drums of war were descending upon the room. The eyes of the serpent descended upon the weakened sister Ren had wounded. Even with the serpents great size, it could move quickly as it hovered slightly above the water. A hiss came from its parted mouth, saliva running between long fangs. The serpent curled its body and darted forward towards the wounded sister. A sight to behold as its jaw opened intent on crushing the woman and impaling her flesh between its fangs. The body of the serpent stretched and circled swiftly intent on its target.

TooLongDidn'tRead: The battle for the mine concluded with the Apostles victorious. Now for some rest before continuing their journey...

Note From The Author: (good job attempting to work together. This is open rp time, so I'll be posting more or less based on how the party interacts with the world while we are in this scene. Assume those who haven't posted in a while are dead in the mine.)

Taruhm Veranda

A day has passed since the events in the mine of Taruhm. The Apostles narrowly emerged victorious, but victors, they were. Unlike the battle for Taruhm, the battle for the mine was their victory, alone. The party was greeted as they exited the mine, some holding each other up, but all alive. Foreman collaborated the tale and the Mayor vowed to keep his word as thanks for the service performed. However, before moving onto the next part of business, the party was encouraged to rest, heal, and enjoy the city an extra night.

The party will find themselves being waited upon while sitting in a charming veranda on the battlements of the fortress. With lunch being served and drinks being kept full, it was a luxurious time. Followers of The Way knew of the evils associated with overindulgence, but some would likely still be tempted. The weather was nice, the company was fair, and the outdoors felt amazing compared to the stifling and stinking cave they nearly died in. About 80' up in the air, they had a waist high railing between them and a vast expense of a view with rolling hills and the near by river flowing cleanly. The mountains behind them towered out of sight and would soon offer shade as the sun passed across the sky.

The mayor promised to meet them for lunch and discuss their reward for the mine that included information on the individual they seek as well as how they might give chase. However, Toby, the mayor's assistant was present and overseeing affairs for the party. He had an air about him that made him stand out from the common populace in a more lethal way, but more than that, he seemed dependable. He made little effort to converse with the party directly other than to answer questions in as few words as possible. Most of his voice was saved for ordering about the serving women that catered to the party. Some were awestruck by seeing the heroes of the city up close and needed reminded they were working.

TL;DR: diana vibes

Diana sighed happily as she looked upon the scenery beyond the balcony, resting her cheek on her hand and grinning like a madwoman. She'd close her eyes to pay attention to the music of the river, but she'd end up missing the view of the rolling plains. She took to sitting and smiling.

The caves had been hell to her. Even actual hell had been a delight compared to the stifling pits that reeked of death. This... this was heavenly. This peaceful stupor was better than the feeling of victory, in her opinion.

A small pink drink (with much less alcohol inside) sat in her other hand. She'd sip the lemony liquid every once and a while to maintain some diversity in her plans for the day. Other than that, she'd be glad to speak to another apostle as she continued savoring and building up energy as the time passed.

Euthalia Apricot

TL;DR Euthalia carried out Estella, bridal-style. She used up her magic to heal the party at the chamber. Now she goes up to Diana for a chat.

Euthalia was still a bit dazzled by how things had turned out. After picking up Estella and carrying her bridal-style what else? with a collapsing tunnel behind them, they barely made it out without killing themselves in the collapse. They ended up running into a chamber where she noticed the other Apostles, although she didn't really recall any of them by name. They were wounded, so she used up some of her last reserves on her healing scents. They were lead out of the mine soon afterwards, by a man she hadn't met before.

Now, having been filled up on what had happened in the mines before her arrival, she was able to rest and enjoy the feeling of the sunlight. Her 'late' arrival at the latest, and the fact that she apparently had missed an early battle entirely, did make her feel a tad bit uncomfortable. Checking out the soil hadn't exactly been worth it. Ah, well, on the topic of soil, she saw someone she thought to recognize. A smaller human women with red hair. 'Where did I see her before...' Euthalia suddenly recalled it with a smile. 'The gardens, that's where I must've seen her.' She figured she might as well introduce herself properly, as it hadn't come to that before.

“Good afternoon, I think we've met before, but never introduced ourselves properly. I'm Euthalia Apricot, it's a pleasure to meet you.”

TL;DR: Moon Imp Labra is sleepy, but remebers the child(Zayne) she came out with and offers to fix his clothes so he doesn't fall over before she goes to sleep. But decisions must be made quickly before she goes to dreamland.

Labra winced at the bright light, and quickly ducked behind/under the nearest shadow. Which just so happened to be the small child that she had come out of the mine with. She scrambled behind him, noting that he was still taller then her. She still did it anyways. Better that then being in the light. A small yawn escaped her before she covered her mouth with her sleeve. The Moon Imp pulled out one of her needles from her bag, and motioned him over to one of the more shaded spots. "Okay, so this is going to sound a bit off, but if you'd like, I can fix your clothes for you, so you aren't tripping over them all the time. Then I'm going to go to sleep. This light is giving me a headache." She tilted her head to the side and looked at him. "The only awkard part is that you'll have to stand completly still and let me sow them up on you so that when you grow, I, or one of the other Apostles, can just let out the hems. You don't have to if you don't want to, but make a decision quick or I'm gonna fall asleep." She stifiled another yawn, and blinked, her black eyes slightly unfocused.

TL;DR: Shurik Decompresses in the back of the balcony against the wall.

Shurik Plate 500.png

Shurik kept his back to the wall of the fortress. After he set his sword to lean against the wall next to him, he crouched down until his heels touched the ground. He braced his weight back into the stone. He stared into the liquid in his cup. As the cup twirled and the drink sloshed around the glass, it reached the edge of the cup just as Shurik would pull it away once more. He gulped down the contents in one go and if being summoned by the empty glass, servants would find his position and refill the cup before he could see the bottom.

The third time this happened, Shurik’s eyes narrowed and he growled at the person who attempted to fill his glass. They quickly went in the other direction. He set the empty glass against the floor and slid the rest of the way down the wall to a sitting position. His eyes glazed over at the horizon. It was a lovely time of year. He’d scan the balcony now and then, taken note of the people who had made it to the end, and then remembered those who had not. At that, he picked up the glass once more, held it out to the side, his arm fully extended, and the servant from before quickly rushed over, filled the glass, and scurried away. He toasted. Then he once more emptied the cup before setting his head against the stone behind him and closed his eyes, just for a moment.

Tl;DR: Ren is thinking about the mines, and is all bandaged up. She says that she doesn't like staying there.

A day later and Ren was still replaying the whole fight back in her head. Her mask hung around her neck and bandages wrapped around the right side of her face and eye. Cuts everywhere bled into other bandages as she refused to stay still, and with her large coat she was almost like she had never been injured. But she had gone full tilt back into the fray after Jeremiah was all right.

She had one thing she knew how to do in this world, and that wasn't going to change.

Even now, as she sat on the fence on the edge of the veranda. The staff disliked that, but there wasn't much they could do to stop Ren from doing so. She'd grab food and such and stuff them into pockets and bags for later.

She was extremely polite. And silent. She thanked the servers when give things, but it was all rote memory. The Public Ren and the Private Ren were very different, indeed. The luxury of the place set her on edge, as if the mines had been a spa day instead.

Here she was surrounded by the enemies of Smiles. Smiles were far more sinister, and she remembered the last time she trusted a Smile. At least she met Wolfe that way, but that man surely meant for her to die out in the woods. Although she did not remember all of that time, she knew that he had offered help but enjoyed the despair she felt when he left her.

Smiles were evil. Villagers threw rocks.

"We should not stay here. I do not like it."

Ren's first words since the mines that weren't rehearsed.

"The Mayer is..." Ren caught sight of Toby as she looked towards the others and cut herself off. "The Mayer is kind to offer us such a meal. Thank you."

She turned back to the view, silent once more. The others could take care of Words for now.
