TLDR: Helio was in a village some miles from the Abbey when she was summoned by the Abbot to join the group. Her previous encounter left her with no desire to care for the direction of the groups choice. When the storm began and the horde attacked. She took to assaulting the main body of the horde; Helio choose to target the more intelligent rats with strikes of lightning to engage closer.

In the early mornings of the village. A small but quaint building resided. It had thatched roofing, and warmth seeping from the inside out. The occupants were patrons and hidden lovers. The first signs of sunlight penetrated a small room, pale naked legs dangled from the edge. And a slow, steady breath sat on the air. As the occupants slept peacefully a gentle knock filled the room. A soft whimper escaped the plump lips of the red-haired maiden nestled against the bosom of her scarlet affair.
The blonde naturally followed, the one called Helio. A woman of the Abbey, the Mistress of Thunder. And from times a lover of many.
Begrudgingly she awakened and pressed warmed feet to the cold floorboards. Her naked body suddenly in view as the cloth slipped away. She took no effort to cover herself as she answered the door. In a gush of air, it opened forcefully. The servant girl no older than 19 held blankets and fresh water in a jug. Her eyes shifted quickly away at the nakedness and shamelessness of the woman in front of her. "Fresh water and blankets." She offered, her eyes situated on nothing but the corner of the door frame finding great interest in the small spider crawling across it.
"That will do quite lovely. Maybe you would like to join us?" Even as she spoke the fair maidens eye's only enlarged at the offer, but a snigger behind her told of other things. "To change our sheets. We would prefer fresh one's" Helio added. The young maiden cleared her throat and offered a calm tone "The sheets will be cleaned once you leave, mistress" the girl extended her items and Helio took it. Deciding to pity the girl for her jesting. She had a wicked habit of playing with others especially in the mornings. "Well no matter. You be on your way now. Don't keep the master waiting." Helio watched the girl retreat down the hall and closed the door to attend to her scarlet affair.
"You're cruel." a voice fluttered towards her, gentle and satin but her eyes were dark green, the colour of envy. There was not envy in here eyes but desire as they scaled the visage of her nightly lover; as she placed the items on a side table a tall mirror sat on top for a lady to image herself for the day. "Only in the mornings, and when i'm ask to be. As you well know." Helio joined her lover on the bed, stretched out before her. She inclined the short distance and placed a tender kiss on a bare shoulder "A pity we can't explore that further." she spoke against soft skin, her lips gliding across it until she reached to others.
"I know...my father returns tomorrow. A shame my mother did not go with him. She has been unusually attentive as of late." Helio removed herself from the bed and dressed in a white cotton tunic that sat on curved hips. A goblet of red sweet wine would be held in strong fingers "Old age drives mothers mad. Maybe she is trying to relive her youth through you. Trying to mold you. That would be a frightening thing." she drank as the air was filled with laughter, sweet and sharp but beautiful in this melody. "That would be frightening. But I feel it is due to my coming wedding in the spring. Sometimes I wonder..."
A sharp sound of canting horses stopping outside the tavern was heard, both women looked to the door as heavy feet thudded against the wood. The boots stopped at the door, as a softer set joined them when the door was opened it was revealed to be Lady Aileya of House Dover. A delicate dress of blue and embroiled gold on the sleeves, some grey was starting to show at the fringe of her copper hair, long and undisturbed. And her daughter naked in the bed, besides a half dressed Apostle. "It seems your mother is here." Helio stated she was relaxed the redhead clutched the sheers in horror "Mother, please..." she said hurriedly, her mother interrupted "Get dressed. It's time to leave your painted whore."
The girl did as commanded scrapping what rags she used as a disguise to meet Helio. But for Helio this situation was only amusing. She could not contain the sudden grin followed by a soft chuckle not at the daughter but the mother. "Do you think this is funny?" Lady Aileya said in venomous tongue "I do" replied Helio. The mother addressed Helio her eyes alight with disgust and pity "You have no idea the damage you could have done to my daughter. Her reputation. If they discovered this. She would never marry, never have children of her own...You disgust me."
The two women stood mere inches apart but the hatred in ones eyes, and the fire in the other could fill an ocean. Helio grew silent as Seres shuffled to her mothers side and was guided out with only a short glance over her shoulder. "How long do you think you can control her? a frightened bird does not stay frightened for long. Not when their wings are strong." the door shut as Lady Aileya's reply. Helio was left to her thoughts. The room seemed empty, smaller somehow. No soft voice to fill the space.
---
Helio had received a summons not long after. She would be sent to find a thief and joined by countless others on this mission. She had never personally cared to fully affiliated herself with any number of them. The first two years of her being apart of the abbey she simply to collect herself. Training and understanding what it meant to be apart of the Abbey took some time to adjust. As she had no memories of her past, all she had were the present day by day choices. She never looked for answers, a small part of her knew she was not yet ready. Her mind was elsewhere as they came upon the fork, choosing which way to go. She had sent word to Seres but received nothing in return. For her sake she decided worrying would serve no purpose. And merely occupied her time with the current path at hand. She choose to follow the mountain path as others did.
When the town came into view her first thought turned to food. A nice ale, and chicken soup or stew with a few buns cropped up her mind. But the pleasantness of it soon turned to dust as a spine chill ran up her back. And the chaos storm seeped into sight. The horde of rat men bleeding from the storm like an open wound was unexpected. The crack of lightning to her left was like the calling of an old friend. For a moment as the horde rushed towards her, she summoned black clouds to blanket the sky cutting through the chaos storm.
In a fluid motion she had stepped away from the group facing the horde, her boots crunched against he soil. As the conjured storm woven like a snake coiled around its prey. She could hear the rush of gnashing teeth, and thudding feet. As time moved so did the storm. In a state of tranquility her eyes opened, alight as a strike of lightning crashed into her body. Ripples of blue electricity coated her body, and remained in her eyes. Another strike landed a few feet away, as more became rapidly enrapturing the area around her in a 20 meter circle. The air became distorted as rain thickened the area.
The first brave, or insane wave of rat men came upon her. Courage in numbers. In a fluid movement she unhooked the folded metal staff behind her and stock the metal as it fused together. The lightning struck around her seemingly uncontrolled as it followed her movement. The first meet the blunt of her staff, a blow to the chest. A grotesque crack filled the air, as the body landed heavily to her side. The rapid strikes of lightning panicked some of the ratmen, others were hit directly.
As Helio sense the closest lightning strike, she noticed the more intelligent creatures were directing the horde. Her intention was to get closer, but it would take some time. Her attention was drawn back to the lightning strike, as she disposed of two rat men. As she sensed it come to the ground she grab a streak of lightning. It formed a constantly rippling bolt of lightning, the sparks engulfing her arm as it formed in her hand. As the rat men gathered around her, another strike of lightning strengthened the bolt. But it continued to violently enrapture her body.
She unleashed it on the first intelligent rat, in her haste she was unsure if they struck the creature as a streak of pure chaotic lightning, as white as marble penetrated in a straight line into the mass of rat men.

TLDR: Stella immediately summoned her bow when the rat folk came, and began aiming for their heads while backing up once in a while to maintain a safe distance

Stella followed along with the crew up the mountain, humming a soft tune while they scaled the gigantic structure. When they arrived, she was almost out of breath, due to the difficulty of the huge mountain she just had to climb. She took some time and rested with the team, her eyes always curiously scanning the surroundings. It was then she noticed the huge storm that was coming towards them. 'I have a bad feeling about this...' she thought, and her gut feeling proved to be true as a gigantic hoard of rat folk began to attack. She first scanned around her to look for her teammates, and she could see that they had already split into groups.

Hell began to break loose as screams of rat folk can be heard, along with different sounds coming from the fights that began to happen around her. Soon Stella's eyes stopped on the small group rushing towards her, and a smile spread across her face. "Well, I don't hate a fight." she spoke to herself, before digging her feet into the ground and taking a defensive stance.

"Light bow, come to me!!" she shouted, and a bright yellow bow appeared in her hands. Closing one eye and taking aim, she pulled her bow back as a light bolt formed in the bow. She took a moment to steady her breath, before releasing the bow and shooting one of the rats in the head. Hoping that would do the trick, she turned her attention to the other rats, quickly forming more arrows in her bow and shooting them down one by one. Although she was able to shoot a few down, she still needed time to form her light bolts, so she had to slowly back up while she shot the rat folk, hoping that she wouldn't have to end up using her shield instead.

TLDR: Payne fights some rats, decides he wants a Big ol' Ratman soul on his shelf, activates his water armor, and starts going trophy hunting.

Payne drew his sword at the incoming horde of Ratmen. On occasion beasts such as this would wander into his swamp, but their souls were rarely of any notable quality. Those large ones in the back though... If given opportunity, Payne would very much like to see what the life of one of them was like. They seemed cut from a different cloth than the horde.

He takes a defensive stance. The Ratmen want to murder innocents. If he let them live, he might as well of stayed in his bog.

As Ratmen moved in, he cut them down with much more force than he appeared capable of. He was a big creature in a much smaller body after all. Slicing one, then two, then three, Payne wasn't slicing quick enough. A stab through a Ratman's chest, and then scratches made across his own armor.
"Get off.... Right... NOW!"

Payne threw the crowd off of him and began using chaos to pull some water from under the soil to the surface of his armor. Thicker plates of armor formed across his body, bolstering his defenses. Then, the horde was back upon him. They scratched and bit at him uselessly, the water stopping their claws and teeth from doing any significant damage to his armor.

With that, Payne began making his way through the horde, towards the larger Ratmen, killing small ones as he went along.

TLDR:
  • Lilirel intended to follow Althea into the city and makes sure she wasn't trampled, but decided to help outside. She felt like she would be of more use clearing hordes than attempting to speak to any guards.
  • Lilirel is currently just to the east of the gates, the storm's core is in her view and she's working on cleaving rat-folk in half, making way for whoever to get to the generals.
YY53pcY.png

The mountain path had been chosen. The larger part of the group had already started moving before a decision could be made by the remaining members. It had been a way for the rest to be somewhat forced into making the same choice. As long as they were moving towards their goal it didn't matter. The climb up the mountain had been as one would've expected. A few group members gathered various herbs and fruits with the occasional spices. Lily didn't know much in the realm of herbalism, the woman simply choosing to stick to the back of the group and keep an eye on their surroundings. As night descended upon them, camp was set, meals were served, and sleep came to most. Lilirel was surprised to awaken feeling rested, she typically didn't seep for too long. Perhaps the large group she was with helped her in feeling so.

It didn't take long for the mountain city to appear before them, and it wasn't much longer for trouble to arise. Lilirel walked close to Althea but in a single moment of literal chaos erupting she had lost track of her friend, the stampede of humans making it difficult to spot the small Magi. She wanted to call out but chose against it, surely Thea would be fine.

Keeping solid footing as she walked around towards the direction the group had come from, Lilirel made sure not to allow anyone rushing past or into her to cause her to stumble. Deep purple irises studied the storm, jaw clenched as she took steady breaths. She could see the large shadow swaying and moving, her eyes narrowed to get a better visual at what was approaching. Making out the details took the woman a moment. The rat men became apparent as they approached, her hand having already reached for the hilt of her blade, instinct having told her to prepare. Drawing the large sword, she held it out to her side as she watched others begin to engage in battle.

Her vision flickered, small specks of purple glowing here and there. Her lip curled in frustration. Exhaling heavily, her left hand came up and clenched into a fist. The ground directly beneath her shook ever so slightly, the dirt was disturbed as the crimson tendrils came up, two of them appearing and wrapping around Lilirel's left arm. Puncturing her skin, they began to feed her body with the energy she required to aid her allies and these people in battle. Veins blackened and almost seemed to pulsate as the corruption spread through her body. The whites of her sclera slowly being consumed by an abysmal black. Lines and symbols came together to form infernal runes across areas of her skin. As the first horde approached her the vines quickly retracted from her arm. She held enough energy for the time being.

Swinging her blade wide she managed to cleave through what seemed like a decent number of the small opponents. As she brought her weapon back, she ran it across a small part of her arm, the slice was enough to draw blood. Whipping her sword out to her right the blood dripped across the dirt and dissipated within, same with any blood coming from her left arm. Taking her blade with two hands she gripped it tightly and prepared to continue cleaving through these pests.

Lilirel could spot a couple larger opponents just a little further down, generals of some sort she assumed. Whatever they were screaming was lost to her, their language was something she had no knowledge in. She could see some of the other Apostles going after the larger foes. For now she would focus on clearing hordes and trying to help the others get closer to the larger Ratmen. On cue with her thoughts, several crimson tendrils shot up from the ground, just passed her blade's reach, she swung wide with her sword as the blood vines assisted in lashing and slicing through even more enemies.

Tl;DR: Ren starts killing Rats trying to climb the walls, using Ice Claw
Ren stopped just before the gates, watching the Little Mage flee inside them. She knew what she was looking for, and Ren wasn't any good at Words. Satisfied that the Little Mage wouldn't get crushed immediately, Ren turned and ran back towards the fray, letting frost creep up her face as she affixed her mask.

She started clawing her way through the groups of rats climbing the walls, starting with the tallest pile. Frost creeped up the side of her face, freezing blood and sweat alike to it, leaving her face a mess. Each slash with her claws left gaping frozen wounds with frost the crept up from the wound and into the heart.

Once the first pile was left in pieces, Ren howled, a loud high note of victory only temporally lasting. She was crying out that this Dirty Things would not win. They would be destroyed one and all.

"Filthy Things are not permitted to live!" She cried, dashing towards the next group to cut them down as well, screaming in glee the whole way. Ren knew she was a War Hound. No good at Words with Important people, but by the abbey she knew how to tear up these ugly rat men so that they couldn't climb a wall.

Now that the rats knew she was coming the next group wouldn't be as easy, but Ren relished the challenge of killing them before they killed her. Her own grin was nearly as sinister as the mask glowing red strapped to her face.

Note From The Author: (Reminder that the more actions you take in a post ((attacking, ability use, running, jumping, climbing, etc)), the more likely your actions are to fail in situations were risk of failure is possible. Make ability use clear in your posts when it comes to which ability you are using, how many times, and to what degree. Your character's fatigue may come on rather suddenly if I have to guess how powerful you are trying to make your techniques. Please let me know i you won't be able to post for a while or are dropping the rp. Good job so far, everyone.)

The East Side Team (side of river opposite Taruhm)
All those who stayed to fight put up an impressive opposition to the increasing horde of ratmen bearing down on them. Aside from the thunder, rain, and wind, the party would hear the numerous cries of the dying and smell various foul odors wafting from the horde and what remained of the fallen.

At the center of this force, Sorod, Stella and Knell worked together to effectively lay down a suppressing spread of curses, light arrows, and spiritual aura. Spreading out from the momentarily contained focus of their group, Zayne, Payne and Jeremiah cleaved a path along the bank of the river towards the stronger ratmen. Tomoe similarly blazed a trail of her own down the center, and Diana's conjured tree bowled over dozens in its path and made an effective barrier that helped funnel the rats. Further to the east and similarly keeping the horde from flanking the party, Helios conjured a storm that was raining down its own punishment to keep the ratmen occupied.

However, despite the strong start, the fight was not without cost. Knell, Giles, and Zayne all received injuries during the initial waves. While the injuries were not yet serious, being wounded so early on did not bode well. What's more, some of them were already starting to feel fatigue from heavy ability use. Diana and Jeremiah were close to having half their energy reserves depleted and would need to catch their breath sooner than the rest if their pace continued unabated. In the initial clash and chaos of the swarming mobs, only one Large Rat Man was effectively hit by an ability and it was Sorod's issue of challenge. Another issue was the fact that ratmen had not yet stopped spawning from the Chaos Storm to the north.

The rats did not sit idle or retreat in fear. The urging from the Large Rat Men ensured the battle continued. While the central group were more or less in the clear, the members of the team that had pressed forward were now the focal points for all the enemy's retaliation. Tomoe was quickly surrounded by several times as many enemies and would face an ongoing assault from all sides while she continued her solo drive. Zayne, Payne, and Jeremiah were in a slightly better situation since they were able to use the water on their left to keep more of the enemies ahead of them, but they would also deal with greater numbers than before. Helios was no exception. The Large Rat Men seemed eager to press the flank in hopes of surrounding all the Apostles. Despite the clusters of charred or exploded corpses, there seemed to be no end to the enemies Helios would need to keep the horde properly funneled to the party.

The West Side Team (side of the river same as Taruhm)
Ren and Lilirel were effective at rushing into the ratmen horde assaulting the town walls. Whether it was taking out a base unit that toppled several climbing rats or merely slaying those trying to rush around for a better place to climb, they impeded the main force of the rat army. Unfortunately, they were more severely outnumbered than the East Side Team. Effective use of the walls and the river may keep the enemy in front of them, but should they allow themselves to get surrounded, the situation would quickly turn dire.

The Town of Taruhm
Taruhm was officially in lockdown. The gates had been shut and bolstered. Guards were armed and at battle stations. Civilians were locked into their homes or shelters. Althea would eventually make her way up several feet of stairs to the battlements overlooking the battle field below. From her windy perch, she could see her comrades fighting down below. Despite the sun now being hidden behind chaos infused storm clouds, seeing them was not hard as they were regularly illuminated by fire, light, lightning, and other powers and effects going off over the course of the battle. Meanwhile, Taruhm was lit by several torches within its many halls and massive braziers on top. The smell of sweaty, anxious men lingered despite the stiff breeze that now bombarded all.

In addition to soldiers that had started firing lit arrows down into the enemy mass, other men worked together to dump boiling tubs of something down onto rats attempting to scale the walls. Overseeing several of the defense projects was a white haired dwarf with little to show his rank other than the obedience of his men. He was Commander Cobalt of Taruhm. He stood a little over 4 feet high, but gave off an intimidating aura as he barked commands. A massive ballista that was ready to fire was presently unmanned.

To All
The battle had the potential to rage on for a long time. Only the more Prescience oriented Apostles would know the key to ending a Chaos Storm sooner: destroying the Chaos Crystal that bobbed around within the Chaos Storm's swirling clouds. In ideal conditions, the crystal was a difficult shot to hit. Destroying it generally took a few good strikes. Unfortunately, storms had a habit of brewing poor conditions. The growing numbers of ratmen spawning beneath the storm to the north of the town would make getting close to the crystal difficult. A team of coordinated Apostles may be able to pull it off, however...

TLDR:
-Giles enters the scene and is met with an incoming horde of rats

-Giles activates Ant Lion's trap
-Giles decides to rush towards Diana to provide assistance

As Giles grew nearer he had a brief sense of relief, the people fighting the horde of Ratmen were indeed his party members. All he had to do now was rendezvous with the team and assist them against the waves of enemies. Unfortunately, his luck ran out, and Giles soon found himself about to be swarmed by a wave of rats. He took a step back and readied his revolver at his hip, he stood motionlessly as he waited for their first move. Giles could feel the chaos concentrating inside of him, he could feel it nagging and bumping around in the pit of his stomach. It called to him, and surely he would answer.

Giles crouched down and slowly sunk his fingertips into the earth. The ground ahead him that was previously soil had been coated with a large horizontal patch of quicksand. He wriggled his fingers under the ground to deepened the sand, making sure the small creatures would not escape.
Though the sand would hamper their path towards him, giving Giles some time to think about his next move, though it was likely that some of the more intelligent rats would pass through his trap or outright avoid it. Nonetheless, Giles needed help; he wasn't a good fighter by himself and he lacked the ability to clear a wave of enemies in a short amount of time.

He surveyed the battlefield for anyone he could pair with. Most of the Apostles were plowing through the hordes, aiming for the Greater rats except for one, Diana. She wasn't that far but there were still a good amount of rats between them. If Giles were to rush through, it was almost certain that he would be chased, but it seemed he had no other choice.

"Don't you worry Diana! I'm comin!" he yelled as he began his sprint to his familiar party member.

TL;DR: Tomoe uses Enhance and Imbue to make a surge for one of the Large Rat Men.

Tomoe cut to one side, spun to another, halberd in her right hand and sword in her left. Her eyes shone; this was where she felt truly alive. Bring them on! she cried to herself.

And seeing the press grow thicker about her, the ranks of the rats closing behind her path, she knew her plan had worked. Now it was time to take the next step.

She swung her weapons in a wide arc, clearing a space momentarily while lopping off a couple of mangy paw-hands whose owners had been more valiant than careful. Then she took a deep breath, pulling air down into the bottom of her belly, and unleashed a piercing howl.

Flame spat from her mouth, her eyes, her nose, ran down and through her limbs and onto her blades, coruscating in the twilight.

She leapt into the air and began a lethal dance, stepping on the heads of ratmen as she struck to her left and her right, liquid fire splashing and spraying as she went. Like an arrow, straight towards one of the rat leaders.

TLDR:
- Althea realizes that she should be with her team and swings down from the wall to join her friends
- Althea casts Healing Dust to lessen the impact

Althea stopped in her tracks when she saw the dwarf. He was clearly the leader, and she had planned to be assigned somewhere, but a pit in her stomach kept her from advancing towards him.

I want to help these people... but my friends are down there risking their lives while I'm up here...

Looking back down from the wall, the battle continued to rage on. Most of her allies were getting hurt as she was watching, some even getting swarmed by dozens of rat men.

"I won't stay here any longer. My patients need me!"

Quickly getting out a length of rope from her backpack, Althea tied one end to one of it to the nearest battlement and made a loophole for her to hold onto. With one hand in the loop, she used the other hand to cast Healing Dust on herself, and an aura of sparkles flowed around her.

If things go badly, this will lessen the damage and help me heal my team faster...

With one last breath, Althea ran the length of the rope on top of the battlements before falling off, letting the rope swing her the other way towards the battle. When she reached the point closest to the ground she let go and reached into her pack to pull out her twin bear traps, intent on breaking her fall by landing on some unfortunate rat man.

TLDR:
  • Lilirel is killing ratmen.
  • She wants to group up , believing the chances of success are higher in larger numbers.
YY53pcY.png

Her focus was mainly on the enemies before her but that didn't mean Lilirel wasn't staying alert to her surroundings. Her intent was unchanged, clearing the enemies to help her allies advance, that was all she had to do. Her swings were wide, focused and precise. She occasionally allowed the blood vines to surface if it was necessary to assist in clearing the hordes. Steadily Lily was moving towards the group that was closest to the storm. Her eyes glancing around every now and then to see where others were spread across the battlefield. In her mind, grouping up to deal with this threat was the best option. Power in numbers, just like the hordes before them.

Tl;DR: Ren continues killing Rats trying to climb the walls, using Ice Spike

The next wave of rats was nearly there when Ren stopped and turned to the wave and pulled up a wall of ice spikes to let the rats run into them like she'd seen soldiers on horses do in other battles. For now, that'd curb the worst of them, and keep them from ganging up. The longer the others let this battle drag out, the worse it would get. However, leaving the town completely alone wouldn't be safe either.

"Ugh! I hate thinking! It's too hard!"

A noise from the nearby gate pulled Ren's attention away from her thinking dilemma.

"Little Mage!" Ren yelled, moving towards the small Magi. "It's not Safe! Too many rats for just the two..." Ren saw Lilirel and amended her statement, "Three of us. Don't want Little Mage to Hurt!"

Ren paced back and forth. There was a slight lull for now, but things would heat up again, and no doubt they'd just crawl over the spikes if enough bodies piled up in front of them.

"Big Lady!" Ren called to Lillrel, "work together! Too many for only us!"

TooLongDidn'tRead: Sorod, the meta boi, is having none of it. He rushes the big rat he pointed at earlier, and intends to mutilate it with his spear and grind it into the ground with his weight and momentum.

Bathed in the blood of hundreds, possibly thousands if given enough time, of these vermin, Sorod draws ever-closer to his quarry. Nothing in his path could stop him, with his size and shield alone, he pushed against the tides and ground them into fine paste, pressing them deeper underfoot with steps unstoppable. His body still alit with the surging force of Wall's Suppresion, the iron golem approached the Large Rat Man that he had challenged earlier, and chose to determine the outcome of their possible sooner, rather than later. Standing in place for a few seconds, the towering Sorod swayed for a few moments, clenching his metaphorical muscles, and with an explosion of strength, his legs pressed heavily. He intends to rush the large vermin, to collide against it and test its metal against his own. His shield bearing in front of him, with his spear poking out from the side, he ran. His charge accelerating further, Sorod rumbled these words with murderous intent, the archaic scriptures on him flashing brighter with their ominous sanguine shades:

"
SO-SHIELD AGAINST FLESH, METAL AGAINST BONE-ROD!!!"

Llawr Silpad

TL;DR:
-Llawr returns Lilirel's introductions, feels down that the group at large ignored him, but cheers up when Zayne consoles him
-He follows the rest of the group, but senses danger ahead the entire trip; he doesn't mention it due to the party's size and vigor
-When the battle starts, Llawr hangs back to assess the situation and realizes that they can stop the Storm quickly
-He uses Blessing of Venta so he can run faster in an effort to meet his teammates and tell them what he realized
-Seeing Diana and Giles in a pinch, Llawr rushes to help them first and tells them he knows a way to end the Storm quickly

Llawr responded to Lilirel with a bright smile as he reciprocated her offer for a handshake. "I'm Llawr Silpad, and I'm glad to meet you!" He listened to the woman's input and nodded in response. "Thanks; I really appreciate your input," he said to her as she sat on a nearby boulder. When he looked back to the group his face betrayed his surprise that over half of the group had continued walking without paying his words any mind. Although this hurt his confidence slightly, the feeling got swept away by a familiar caress. When the Cait Sith felt the hand of his friend Zayne gently run the top of his head his feline ears perked up with delight. Considering the state of their group at that point, Llawr couldn't argue that negotiations had failed. Even so, the boy couldn't shake off the sense of foreboding he got from the direction of the mountains, so he waited behind for a few minutes with Zayne for the remaining members to decide before moving to rejoin the rest.

After traveling all day Llawr still felt tense about going to the mountains, but considering the size of their group and their vigor to press forward he decided not to bring it up. When it started getting dark he suggested they set up camp, and was thankful that they were all in agreement. Llawr helped cook dinner for the group, and remained cheery as always until they all slept. When the sun began rising, he was naturally one of the first to rise. He exchanged pleasantries with Sorod as he ate something for breakfast and prepared for their departure. Because of their group's size and the limited chances for him to get to know everyone, he didn't notice that they were missing a body when they began moving again. That said, he was increasingly aware of the presence of danger in the direction they were going, so he made sure to wear his more combat oriented clothing for the day.

Sure enough, once the group was in sight of a fortress-city after another day's travel, the source of Llawr's concern was becoming apparent; people were fleeing the city as a storm of Chaos began swirling on the mountain overhead. Tensing up since it was his first time experiencing a Chaos Storm, Llawr froze at the sight of the army of ratmen. When his comrades immediately stormed into combat, Llawr snapped out of his trance; his expression revealing his heightened state of focus. He looked around the battlefield, able to see clearly despite the dark thanks to his feline traits as a Cait Sith, watching everyone's actions and the reactions of the enemy forces to figure out how best to help. Seeing that the smaller ratmen only acted in response to orders spouted by the larger ratmen, it was easy to realize that they were an organized army with set ranks. Content with the knowledge that some of his allies had noticed this and were working their ways toward some of them, he decided to focus on the bigger picture; the Storm's source. His Intuition screamed at him that the highest concentration of danger was in fact sourced at the spiraling torrent of Chaos overhead. We could probably end this if we deal with that, but how would we go about it? This is what I get for not learning what everyone's good at. For now...

Llawr determined that the best course of action for him at that moment would be to travel between each group and try to spread the message while helping them. Drawing his daggers in a dual-reverse grip, he began focusing on drawing as much Chaos from the open air around himself as possible. "Mighty Winds and Torrents, Heed My Plea and grant me the Blessing of Venta!" The invisible Chaos in the winds gathered around him, filling his lungs with strength and surrounding him like an invisible aura that would allow him to slip through the wind unimpeded by drag. Once this was complete, he burst into a full sprint that surpassed what most of his teammates would naturally be capable of thanks to his light, speed-oriented frame. He quickly cleared ground, heading towards his teammates who were both closest to him and seemed to need the most assistance of the group; Diana and Giles. Seeing the group of ratmen between the two, he ran up on Diana's side of the confrontation. Dashing passed the woman with a quick "excuse me," the boy began slashing the ratmen soldiers that approached her. With swift, evasive motions leading into rapid slashes, Llawr was able to begin thinning out the group of ratmen. After a moment, he spoke up to the two Apostles; "Sorry if I'm intruding Big Sis Diana and Mr. Cowboy! I wanted to help out, and I need to tell everyone that there's a way we can end this Storm quickly! I hope you guys don't mind and can help me out once we clear these guys out," he finished while killing yet another ratman that only stood up to his belly in stature.

TL;DR: Stella managed to figure out where the Chaos Storm was, and ran to Knell to ask if she and Sorod would help her try to take out the Chaos Crystal.

Stella continued firing at the ratmen, looking back once in a while to make sure she won't bump into someone or something. The horde seemed never ending, and Stella began to worry that they might not be able to last long. She backed up a few steps this time, making sure she had enough space and time before she closed her eyes. She was easily distracted, and although she can sense chaos, it was often difficult for her to do so unless she concentrated. She tuned out the noise as quickly as she could and sensed the source of the ratmen, the Chaos Crystal that was in the chaotic winds that protected it. Opening her eyes, she tried her best to focus her attention onto the storm, barely being able to make out that the storm was near the north of town. She cursed under her breath, regretting how she never really did try to hone any of her abilities or talents, and ran towards the nearest person that was in her sight.

She ran behind Knell and gauged the surroundings, before she reached her hands out towards the sky. "Dome of light, protect us from harm!" she shouted, and a dome of light formed around Knell and Stella, blocking any ratmen from them for a slight while. Her light dome couldn't reach Sorod however, as he had went much further away from her range. She turned to Knell and took a deep breath before explaining the situation. "I have a way to stop this madness. There is a Chaos Storm that holds a Chaos Crystal near the north of the town and we need to take the crystal out, if not the ratmen will never stop coming in groups. I see you know that big guy over there, maybe we can try to go north and take it out so we can end the hordes."

Stella had completed her explanation, waiting for a response from the girl in front of her. Her breaths were slightly more ragged than before due to her running towards Knell and casting her light dome. Light dome was a spell that needed much more energy than her bow and bolts, and she needed consistent energy to keep it up. Hoping that Knell's response would come soon, she kept her eyes on Knell, while keeping the dome up around them so they wouldn't come to any harm.

The fight was getting no where fast and there seemed to be no end to the overwhelming numbers of rat men that the storm had produced over time. It had only been minutes since he had started to battle against the threat and he had already taken injuries that made attempting to keep his calm all the more difficult. Taking notice as to how many of the Apostles were rushing to attempt and take down the commanding larger rat men, Zayne on the other hand stood his ground on the opposite side of the river to make sure that a lower amount of rat men would not come across the river. Striking at any of the creatures that either charged him or came too close to the river with his sword, he used his free hand to grasp his enemies by their limbs or heads just to swing and toss them back into the mob of incoming rats.

Shifting his gaze at his surroundings just to check upon his allies to make sure they were alright as well as that of the town's defenses, the slight distraction of him just paying mind to others had him nearly impaled if it weren't for him to take a slight turn and cause the rusted blade of one of the creatures attempting to jab at him. "Tsk, fine! You want to play dirty?!" With that single phrase, in an instant an explosion of flames erupted the surrounding area around him just to turn the rats that dared to be up close to him to become nothing more than ash while those just outside of his radius flailed from being set ablaze.
Standing there completely enveloped in flames with nothing more than white orbs where his eyes once were as the sword in hand was soon also consumed in the flames as well. Rushing his enemies and away from the river, those who struck at him would simply have either their rusted weapons turn to ash as soon as it came into contact with the fire or be set on fire as he drew too close to them.

Knowing all too well that this would drain him of his energy rapidly by the second, he had hoped that one of the Apostles would at least figure something out to end this battle before he drained himself completely.

TLDR:
  • Lilirel joins Althea and Ren.
  • She's still wishes to group with the rest of the Apostles that are further from the town gates.

The commotion closer to the gates of Taruhm was picked up by Lilirel's ears. The corner of her eye catching the motion of something coming up from the ground. Halting where she stood, Lily took steady breaths, her tourmaline eyes almost glowing. Her sword was held out before her as she watched the never-ending horde. At the sound of Little Mage the brunette's head whipped to the right, glancing over her shoulder to see Althea and the wildling, Ren. The motion of them grouping up had Lily already walking backwards towards them. Turning around as she got closer, there was a momentary grimace that came from her as she almost looked offended. In truth, the one that was struggling with the words spoke accurately, Lilirel was indeed a big lady, so she couldn't really be upset about the statement.

Clenching her jaw she checked over her shoulder as she walked. The last thing she needed was one of those Ratmen jumping her. Standing in front of the two, Lily angled herself just slightly to keep an eye on the chaos just beyond them. "I agree, working together is the smarter option, but we need to make our way towards the group that's further down in the middle of the battlefield. They need the most help." She turned towards Althea and Sorenthath. "The city has defenses and they can hold their ground. If anything we'd just get in their way. We are the ones that have to stop this, that's how we can help this town." She explained her piece and gripped her sword tightly, her attention turning back toward the battlefield, and the Apostles in that direction.

TL;DR: Knell agrees to the plot and calls Sorod to join.

Knell did not mind the fact she was injured. Rather, she used it to strengthen her resolve to fight the horde as she gritted her teeth and forcefully held down a rat, draining its life force in her hands. It writhed as it screeched, the noise gradually getting weaker and weaker with its thrashing less and less. Eventually the body fell limp, causing her to finally release it. She let out a sigh as she stood up and looked around, giving a jolt as she realized that Sorod was no longer there. "Where-?"

But it turned out Stella had come to hold off some of the horde while she had been draining. She let out a sigh of relief and a small smile as she glanced at the woman. "Thank you," she breathed before letting her magic seep through her fingers, listening to Stella explain the plan. Her frown was heavy and her gaze fierce as she nodded once. "Yes, I'll try to bring Sorod with us. A small group to take down the cause...we can do this." She glanced at Sorod and yelled at the top of her lungs. "SOROD! WE'RE TAKING DOWN THE CHAOS CRYSTAL UP NORTH, IT WILL STOP THE HORDE. FOLLOW!" She glanced at Stella, eyes still fierce as her fingers crackled with energy and magic.

TLDR: Jeremiah fights old-fashioned, holding onto his power so he could use it an an opportune time. He also decides to follow Zayne.

Shit, he could feel his energy slowly waning- Jeremiah had been using a lot of Chaos to fight the rats and to keep them off of him. Reluctantly, he sighed, slicing at one more rat before sending the water into his empty waterskin- to be useful for a later time. In those few moments as he was distracted by releasing his magic and unsheathing his knives, a few rats managed to scratch him, leaving bloody wounds on his arms. In retaliation, Jeremiah used his knives to slash out at the rats, slicing through them as if they were made of paper, mainly from how sharp his knives were. He used his strength to push and kick the rats he killed aside as more rats rushed towards him, ready to die. He had to work through the pain, but then again, the scratches weren't that serious.

A few rats beside him were slain suddenly due to Zayne's fire, prompting him to look and see Zayne rushing towards the hordes of rats. "Don't rush off by yourself! I'm coming to help you!" Jeremiah called after Zayne, following up the statement with a curse. "Payne...follow us, or retreat into the river if you need to." Jeremiah hollered to Payne before switching to a more offensive position, steadily making his way towards Zayne, all while stabbing his way though the horde of rats like a deranged serial killer, having to work overtime to gain this amount of an upper hand. If anyone wanted his help, he would be glad to give it, even though he was giving everything he had not to make a mistake and slip up.

TL;DR: diana acknowledges giles and llawr
grows branches underground to use on enemies if nessesary.

Diana's eyes darted back and forth from the rats charging towards them and from Giles, also charging towards her. The sight of another creature that wasn't covered in fur was an immense relief to her. But contrary to popular belief, magical cowboys weren't immortal, and neither were gingers. She had to act no matter how tired the battle made her. Diana reached back into the mist and anchored the magic into the ground once more. Several inch wide, heavily thorned plants obeyed, ready to burst from the ground and stab into whatever stood in her way or grow into a shield of intertwining thorn branches.

Llawr's voice somehow carried over the din of the battle and to her ears, the sudden noise from beside her causing her to jump and spin around to face her opponent. The rage of battle began to wane and so did her clutch on the branches under the dirt beside her when Diana cracked a wide smile (in the midst of a very frightening battle) at how easily the boy startled her. She nodded carefully along to his words, eager to finally have found an end to this chaotic mess of a battle.

"Of course we don't mind! Thanks for the help!" she said cheerfully in reply before turning back to the rat-men and regaining her grip on her underground weapon.

Althea landed hard onto the nearest ratman, digging her beartraps into its flesh. As it screamed Althea scanned the horde of ratmen in front of her. A seemingly endless swarm of ratmen surrounded her on all sides. In most circumstances a normal person would cower in fear or drop on the spot, but something changed in Althea that made her grin. Her eyes changed from full green to yellow rings, and her face was set with a toothy grin that stretched from ear to ear.

"These pests think they can keep me from my patients? They want to undo all the hard work I put into keeping my friends alive?"

With Healing Mist active, the wounds on the ratmen closed around where the bear traps had cut into, but before the ratman could retaliate, Althea pulled hard and tore the traps out of the rat's chest, as well as everything in between.

"
Those who cause harm to others for fun are vermin... and vermin must perish!"

After letting loose a spine chilling laugh Althea ran from one ratman to the next, hopping from body to body like a flea. When a ratman was out of reach, she would switch to the bear trap with the chain and hook herself closer to it before moving to the next target. She danced around Lilirel and Ren, restoring their wounds as she fought, but her main prize was to aid the main group.

"
Let's put out back into these guys and regroup with the others. I get the feeling that the bigger pests are harder to tear than these fodder..."

With bear trap in one hand and chained trap in the other, Althea began to make her way towards the heart of the battle.
