Forest Village of Pinnacle
With a few members of the party staying behind with the weary Diana, waiting for her to get her strength back, Euthalia had no issue keeping pace with them from above. They were barely moving if at all. Once Stella erected her light barrier, their movement stopped entirely. The monsters did not stop, however, and continued clambering onto the bridge to surround the party on 2 sides. So long as the barrier held, they felt safe inside, but it would not hold forever.
Euthalia's poisons seemed to work well enough. Those that it didn't cause instant death to, it at least weakened, allowing her to make several killing strokes. Something she would have to be mindful of while dispersing her poisons was that there was no breeze, so her toxins and scents would slowly drift down to the party below if she continued to use them like she was. While the numbers of enemies on the higher level were fewer, without her scents, her ability to continue combating the enemies that were slowly encircling her would become increasingly dangerous.
Meanwhile, Ren and Shurik were cleaving a blood and ashes covered path to the central platform that the thief and the portals waited on. The fight was like moving uphill and only grew more fierce by the moment. Situations grew worse when the party stopped moving to keep up behind them. Monsters had gotten on the bridge and would move to surround them in time. They would continue to struggle, and the odds of their survival would continue to shrink. They managed to reach the central platform, but before they could step foot on it, a dark miasma descended on the monsters crowding to meet them. With painful gasps and screams, the monsters writhed and dropped to the ground, many falling off the walkways. From the dark miasma, bone warriors like those in the mines manifested. Armored and armed, they were not nearly so mindless or easy to deal with. They were clearly being puppeteered by the seductive woman that kept the Thief company. With incomprehensible chants and peculiar gesticulations, the women moved and marched the bone soldiers to meet Shurik and Ren in battle formations.
The Thief sat in his bone throne swirling would could have been a drink in his chalice, the stolen artifact. He smiled faintly as the appearance of the Apostles, but made no move to suggest he was concerned. Labra's flying invisibilty seemed to be working as the thief did not look in her direction. She was able to move in without being attacked and grabbed the chalice. However, she was unable to wrench it free of the man's hand. It was then he looked at her with red eyes, despite her still being invisible.
"You want this? Well, you may not have it..."
He said in an elegant voice before splashing her invisible form with the contents of the cup. In addition to making her invisible form stand out, the liquid the reached the platform immediately pooled, vaporized, and formed another ghostly looking portal of light. Another barely dressed woman walked out, nodded to the rogue, and wickedly turned on Labra with all her malice. The woman showed labra a smile of rotted teeth and a sadistic cackle.
