Ari stood at the front doors of the high school, staring up at the large doors. It was nothing like her old school, where everything was just right. But, her parents had gotten new jobs, better paying and they had to move. The downfall of the move was having to live in the city. There was just too much for Ari to comprehend, and she hated it, but she knew her parents loved their jobs and she wasn't going to make them unhappy by fighting to stay back home.
And while Ari hadn't been standing there long, she could tell by how the others dressed and looked of those who walked inside, that she stood out. Being in the city all the girls had the fake tans, the expensive clothes, the fake nails and way too white teeth. They were all tall and inhumanly too perfect. The guys were hardly any different with their muscles, khakis, the premade holey jeans and shoes worth more than her own laptop. Looking down at herself, she sighed softly. Her clothes were worn in some places, patched up here and there. The top she wore today had been altered by herself. Her jeans had holes in the knees, but no in the way the others were. And her shoes were scuffed up and dusty from walking everything. Where all the the girls had the tanned skin, hers was pale, a few spots of ance on her chin. And her dark brown hair was pulled back into a simple braid.
Shrugging, she hurried inside and headed towards the gymnasium where they were hosting their little day before school event where students could pick up their schedules, walk around the school, meet some teachers if they wished. Most of the kids had their parents, sophmores she could tell by their nervous faces as they tried opening their lockers with shaking hands, their parents next to them giggling and trying to help. It made her miss her own, but they were busy a lot and didn't get to come with her as much as they liked. "Oh well," she said to herself, before skipping down the small flight of stairs and turning to the doors where everyone was filing through.

Meanwhile, across town, Cyrus sat down in his bed, groaning at his aching feet. He had worked a double shift at the restaurant, and then came home to make breakfast for his mother before she left for her own job. It wasn't the normal life one would expect from a young adult like himself. But he wanted to be sure his mother didn't have to work herself into the ground since his father took off on them.
Kicking off his shoes, Cyrus didn't bother changing into his sleeping clothes. He han his hand through his dark hair a few times before falling into bed. Not bothering with covers, he hit the play button on the radio next to his bed and fell asleep to the music that played from the speakers. It had been a long night, and there was another one in store for him tonight he was sure. But he'd get his day off soon and be able to see his good friend Dimitri.
