At the beginning of the twenty-first century, a war of intergalactic proportions was brought to an end due to the actions of a handful of teenagers from the planet Earth. Through the use of alien technology, the Yeerk invasion of Earth was averted by these youngsters, but not without the loss of several lives, both human and otherwise. Even those who managed to survive the horrors of war would find themselves, and their worlds, changed forever.

That was over fifty years ago.

Now, after having been opened up to other civilizations in the galaxy, Earth has entered a new era of space exploration and technological advancement. While initially reserved exclusively for world governments in good standing with the U.N., as well as a handful of influential corporations, alien technologies have gradually started to leak out into worse parts of the globe, finding their way into the hands of criminals and terrorists. The very same morphing technology that allowed the humans and their allies to resist invasion over half a century earlier has now revolutionized the way human beings fight their own wars, as well as how they cheat and steal from one another.

This has caused relations between Earth and its alien allies to become strained, particularly so when it comes to the Andalites, the race responsible for much of this technology finding its way to Earth. While they assisted in helping the earthlings to repell the Yeerks, their sworn enemies, they had always feared humans would eventually abuse their advanced technologies. These two species, which once considered themselves friends and allies, are now becoming increasingly isolated, leaning ever closer to entering an intergalactic cold war.

With this united front dissolved, the Yeerks, whose empire had been routed and confined to a limited region of space, are now planning to resume their plans of conquering other worlds.

Behind the scenes, however, forces beyond the scope and knowledge of any of these races are at work. These same forces who were originally responsible for engineering the war between the Yeerks and the Andalites are now embroiled in yet another conflict. Once again, these god-like beings will send their chosen warriors into battle, the fate of an entire galaxy hanging in the balance.

RACES

ANDALITES

images

Originally a herd-oriented species, the Andalites evolved a second pair of eyes on opposable stalks and blades on the end of their tails to help them survive the threats posed by the predators of their homeworld. Having no mouths, they consume their sustenance through their hooves, absorbing nutrients from the grasses they walk upon. Over several thousand years, they attained a level of scientific and technological sophistication that allowed them to develop z-space travel and journey between the stars. They encountered many other species in their travels, eventually becoming one of the dominant forces in the galaxy. Notably, they also developed the technology known as "morphing", which allows the user to transform into another living species through acquiring its DNA. Their fateful encounter with the Yeerk species however, would afterward lead their entire civilization into war, causing their society to develop into a rigidly millitaristic honor-based system.
After fighting against the Yeerks for the better part of a century, the spread of their enemies was finally contained and reversed on the backwater planet of Earth. This was due in no small part to the actions of an Andalite prince named Elfangor who had crashed on Earth and granted their morphing technology to a small band of young humans. After these freedom fighters, known amongst themselves as the Animorphs, had neutralized the Yeerk threat to Earth, Andalite military forces used it as a staging point to bring their war to its end.

The period after this victory was one of peace for both humans and the Andalites. The two races opened their worlds to one another, and a great cultural and technological exchange took place between the two. Unfortunately, as time went on, the Andalites strong sense of pride and their distrust of humans using their technology led to conflict between the former allies. When Earth's sovereign governments failed to prove they could control humanity's use of advanced Andalite technology, Andalites became hostile to Earth and withdrew from the solar system, threatening to use violence if the situation was not eventually rectified. Travel between Earth and the Andalite homeworld is now heavily restricted, and the only Andalites remaining on Earth for long periods of time are peace-keepers and diplomats, dedicated to preserving the strained ties between humans and their species.

YEERKS

29slugs.jpg

A race of slug-like parasites initially confined to the pools of their homeworld due to their reliance on the rays of their system's star for their survival, the Yeerks are required to leave their host bodies every few days in order to return to their home pool and absorb Kandrona particles. Yeerks will usually enter a host body through the ear canal, working their way to the hosts brain where they attach themselves and thereafter control the host's entire neurological system.
After the Andalites discovered them, a scientist named Seerow took pity on the Yeerks and gave them access to ships and other forms of technology. The Yeerks quickly seized this chance to escape the confines of their homeworld's pools and the limited hosts available to them there. Gradually, they spread throughout the stars, claiming more and more races as hosts and using artificial Kandrona-ray projectors to establish pools in other locations. The Andalites fought against their attempts to spread across the galaxy, but were unable to defeat them until the secret Yeerk invasion of Earth was thwarted and their empire was thrown into disarray.
Now, most Yeerks are confined to their home planet and not allowed to leave under penalty of death. Scattered forces still offer resistance to the Andalites in various far-flung parts of the galaxy, but the Yeerk high command has long since collapsed. The Yeerk command structure previously included a ruling Council, all but one member of which is now accounted for by the Andalites, and a series of officers known as Vissers(numbered 1-47) and Sub-Vissers(47-100). It is unknown how many of these former leaders are still at large, although it is presumed to be relatively few.

HORK-BAJIR

Toby.jpg

While their appearance is quite ferocious, with sharp, blade-like horns protruding from their wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, and foreheads, the Hork-Bajir are actually a peaceful herbivorous race in their natural environment. While they seem perfectly adapted to harvesting bark in the dense forests of their homeworld, this is only because they were genetically engineered specifically to tend to the giant trees that also serve as their homes by the originaly inhabitants of their planet, the Arn. They were created because a planetary catastrophe had rendered much of their world inhabitable, and several species of trees were necessary to restore its damaged atmosphere.
Despite their intended purpose, the Yeerks realized they could be effectively used as living-weapons in the form of Controllers, or Yeerk hosts. They conquered the Hork-Bajir, whose limited intelligence did not equip them to fight back. The entire species was enslaved to be used a hosts for the Yeerk empire's footsoldiers. A small enclave of escaped Hork-Bajir managed to live in hiding on Earth due to help form the Animorphs, and from this colony the last surviving Arn took genetic samples with which he planned to return to his homeworld and create a new race of free Hork-Bajir.
After the Yeerks were forced off Earth, the escaped Hork-Bajir were allowed to live on protected lands in Yellowstone Nation Forest. They and their descendants have happily lived there ever since under the guidance of the Hork-Bajir seer Toby Hamee. As a seer, she is a rare mutated member of the Hork-Bajir race possessing greater intelligence on par with that of humans or even Andalites. She is also very old, and her tribe now anticipates the birth of a new seer who will lead them in the future. There is also the problem of the few Hork-Bajir remaining under the control of Yeerk forces elsewhere in the galaxy, who must somehow be liberated and returned to their brethren.

TAXXONS

Another race conquered by the Yeerks, the Taxxons nevertheless remained somewhat unpopular as hosts due to their peculiar and grotesque characteristics as a species. Possessing long, worm or centipede-like bodies and mouths rimmed with teeth, they are vicious carnivores with cannabalistic tendencies. A strange, instinctive behavior similar to an eating disorder in humans causes them to be constantly plagued with insatiable hunger. They will consume almost anything, even things verging on the inedible, and the slightest scent of blood sends them into a feeding frenzy. Wounded Taxxons are known to go as far as eating themselves out of bloodlust, if they are not first consumed by other members of their species. Because their intense hunger is hard to control, Taxxon Controllers are usually not trusted with high ranking positions, mainly being designated as hunters and trackers due to their keen sense of smell. Their heightened reflexes, however, do make them somewhat useful as pilots.
All Taxxons on Earth after the failure of the Yeerk invasion were forced to morph into large snakes and relocated to the Amazon to prevent them from becoming a hazard. Like with the Hork-Bajir, however, some Taxxon Controllers are still active and on the run.

NPCs

The Ellimist- A mysterious being who has guided the development of many worlds and cultures throughout the galaxy. Once a mortal being, he long ago ascended to a higher existance outside this reality. His powers over time and space have lead to many races regarding him as a kind of god, although this is a point held in contention, even by the Ellimist himself. After encountering the being known as Crayak, the Ellimist took up the cause of protecting species from destruction, particularly those species targeted by Crayak. Their contest over the fate of all life in the galaxy has been waged for countless millenia, most recently through their proxies, the Andalites and Yeerks.

Crayak- Considered by some to be the ultimate evil. A being, like the Ellimist, with powers beyond description, Crayak originally came from another galaxy, but he is dedicated to gaining dominion over the Milky Way. He has engineered the extinction of countless races he deemed to be useless or threatening to his plans. This brought him into conflict with the Ellimist and the band of humans called the Animorphs. After his machinations involving the Yeerks failed, the name Crayak was not so much as spoken for several decades. However, rumors that his assistant and representative, the Drode, is once again active in Yeerk space have recently started to surface.

The One- A being of untold origin, presumed to be similar to the Ellimist or Crayak, although its intentions and goals remain unclear. All that is known is that it was encountered by several of the original Animorphs during a rescue mission, after which they disappeared. There are whispered legends that it was the thing that originally expelled Crayak from his home galaxy and forced him into the Milky Way.

MORE TO COME...

And now... for a race that Animorph's fans might not be familiar with.

THE HETWAN

11465.jpg

An insectoid race from outside the galaxy, the Hetwan's culture had remained at a level of stagnation for centuries. That was until Crayak found them. Replacing Ka Anor, their all-important god that they claimed to have lost somehow, Crayak has molded the Hetwan into a replacement for the Howlers, the ferocious race that once served as his foot soldiers. The Animorphs sucessfully freed the Howlers from Crayak's control, setting his plans back substantially.
Although not particulary strong, the Hetwan make up for their weaknesses with their seemingly endless numbers and hive-like mentality. They will sacrifice themselves one and all for Crayak, who they now see as their leader and god. While not particularly technologically advanced as a race, the Hetwan have a skill for adapting to new concepts and instruments, collectively learning how to master new situations at a speed that is truly frightening. Their fatal flaw, much like the Taxxons, is that their insectoid bodies are extremely fragile, making it incredibly easy for even an unarmed human to seriously injure or kill them.

Fluffy shall be someone that morphs into a HORK-BAJIR. Character sheet will be in this post. :3
How old should the characters be? Should they be mid-teenage years like the books? I normally don't do 16 year olds anymore but I can make an exception for this. ;)

^

Same question.

Also wondering how many morphs we're limited to.

I'm realizing more and more how much I failed at making things clear...

The characters can be any age you like. Ideally, they shouldn't be just average teenagers, because the only people with access to morphing technology either work for a government (spies or special ops), have it illegally (criminals and terrorists), or are aliens (Andalites and renegade Yeerks). Most people will have only a few morphs that are based on their profession. Soldiers will have a least one battle morph, while spies will have chosen morphs better suited for infilitration.

I think I'll limit everyone to two morphs to start with, and then they can acquire others as time goes on. How does that sound?

I'd like to join....*takes a moment to REFRESH MEMORY*

She has a lot of charisma, which helps her get out of trouble real easily. Her voice talents also come in handy because she can make herself sound like someone completely different. Jaqi's also a skillful fighter, though only when she has a weapon when in human form.
Weaknesses:
Charms and voice talents aren't everything; she has no physical strength whatsoever when she's in human form. She also has very weak ankles from past fractures.

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS

Current Goal/Purpose:
Try to make a living and learn more about herself

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Strengths: Some experience piloting. Always scored very highly in simulations, but has fairly little experience flying actual ships. Has mastered the art of body language, knowing practically every visual cue from most major species, although primarily specializes in Andalites and humans.
Weaknesses: He never truly took to tail-fighting during his training, and as such is a poor fighter in one on one combat. He doesn’t have much physical strength or stamina, being a worse runner than most other Andalites. While he does have a general issue Shredder beam weapon, he has never used it in a non-practice setting, preferring to keep in stored away and out of sight as it would likely prove counter-productive to his mission.
