An Arragement Most Foul

Annaliel watched him mess with the chess set out of the corner of her eye before setting her book to the side and joining him. She gave him a small smile as she moved one of the pawns in front of her and leaned back, silently challenging him to make a move.

Constantine gladly accepted the challenge and moved his piece. He studied the board carefully trying to remember every possible move he could. His concentration wasn't the best, but he loved a good game, and it had been a year or two since he last played this one.

Annaliel watched the bored quietly and made each move simply but expertly. She wasn't going to allow her husband to best her at one of her favorite games of all times. She watched him makes his moves calmly and smiled at him every time that she stool one of his pieces.

"Haha, clever..." Constantine smiled back and looked over at his previous moves carefully being sure not to make any careless mistakes. He had to hand it to her, she was very good which made it all the more fun.

"Well one of us has to be." She teased lightly as she waited for him to move his piece. She had him corners and it was only a matter of time before she won.

Constantine chuckled, and looked over the board one last time before moving his piece in the only spot he could. She had put him in a tight bind, and all he could do was sit back and admit defeat, "Looks like you're going to win. Well played!"

Annaliel amiled at him as he gave up, knowing that he was going to lose either way."So do I get a prize?" She asked him playfully.

Leaning forward and over the chess table, he placed a kiss on his wife's cheek and winked, "Will that be all, my dear?"

Annaliel blushed and giggled softly before returning the kiss with one of her own before she pulled back.

"Only if you want that much in return~" She teased before standing up and smiling down at him. "Anyway, dinner should be ready by now."

The Duke linked arms with his wife and walked with her towards the dining room. "What are the cooks making for tonight, again?" he asked.

"I believe that were making a small roast and some potatoes for dinner this evening, Just enough for the two of us." She said sweetly as she smiled at him.

Once they had entered the dining room, he pulled out a chair for her to sit down and then sat down himself. It was late, but he didn't feel tired and he thought to himself quietly as he waited.

Annaliel smiled a bit as she sat and waited for dinner with Constantine. She looked at him for a moment as he seemed to be thinking before leaning in a bit to speak to him.

"What are you thinking about?"
