   unstoppable now - the phantoms

They tune in to their television sets, day and night, to watch them. They gather in the streets, braving every cold and hot day, to catch even just a single glimpse. For the people of Oceania, the soldiers aren't simply soldiers. They are gods. And like gods, they possess special powers.

For as long as anyone could remember, Oceania and Eurasia had been at war. It was an endless power struggle that came at a great cost. Many lives were lost. Many resources, depleted. But overtime, war became a source of entertainment. A brutal showdown to watch in the comfort of one's home, as millions of other lives were sacrificed in the battlefield. Entertainment was hard to come by these days. Life had become bleak under a dictatorship.

With war came great advancements in technology. Oceania's soldiers were each equipped with their own unique weapons, some of which might even cater to their personality and style. For the soldiers were also celebrities, and they had to look the part.

But Eurasia hadn't been idle, either. For years, it had been exploring the furthest reaches of the universe, in search of a technology far more superior than what could be reaped on Earth.

They found what they were looking for.

They called it "dark matter", a substance so mysterious it could not have any other name. It was but an ever-curling wisp of purple smoke; and yet, it held great powers. Powers that would soon become the world's undoing.

Dark Matter and Man merged together to form the strongest superheroes the world had ever seen. Yet, Oceania persevered. It recruited more soldiers, waged more wars. Until finally, Eurasia, unable to keep up, was defeated. At least for the time being. Oceania was all fireworks and celebration that day, for it had gained brand new territory as prize. And now, they had Eurasia's soldiers too, or at least what was left of them.

Eurasia's former soldiers were now slave warriors in enemy land; they had been brainwashed, experimented with, then brainwashed some more. But the public despised them still. Why should these foreign folk live in Oceania's country, and wield Oceania's banner in war? Dissent grew among Oceania's original soldiers also, but under such a strict dictatorship, they had no choice. For the moment, they must join hands and work together.

After all, Eurasia had not yet been defeated. As the years droned on, it schemed and steadily grew back into power.

Its newest monsters lay in wait.

RULES

1. GM word is law. I'll definitely try my best to take everyone's ideas and suggestions into consideration, but do keep in mind that I will always have the final word where this role-play is concerned.
2. Practice basic role-playing etiquette. That means no godmodding, powerplaying, and so on.
3. Let me know first if you have issues with other role-players. Don't start drama.
4. Post semiweekly, as per the expectations of this role-play. Let me know ahead of time if you need to go on a hiatus. I know life can get busy, but I need to be informed.
5. I'm going to require more than one-liners, but I also don't want novel-length posts. Keep it straightforward and give enough material for others to work with.
6. Only two characters max per person, preferably one ex-Eurasian and one patriot Oceanian.
7. Please don't use characters from games/books/etc. You can base your character concept on them, but they can't be an exact copy.
8. This is the only thread where I'll be allowing out-of-character discussions. No OOCs in any of the other threads. Feel free to join the Discord server if you feel like chatting up with the rest of us. I highly recommend it because this is where we do most of our planning and bantering.

WEB : a cyber-genetic system controlled by a neural implant. Allows for telekinetic communication with her weapons. WEB is limited to two items at a time and hinders control when maximized. Range and use varies with equipment.
  • Hornet: a six foot glaive. STING's main weapon used for direct combat. WEB is incorporated as a method of transportation, allowing Hornet to levitate via telekinesis. Although Hornet cannot be used for flight, it can be used as a hovering device with a floating effect. Hornet must be within 5 meters for WEB to activate.
  • Wasp: a foot long arrow - high precision with concentration. Must be within 10 meters for WEB to activate.
  • Bumblebee: a swarm of three inch dagger-like projectiles. Low precision - no individual control. Must be within 20 meters for WEB to activate.

A lifetime of suppression and perfection became frustration. It became her persona, and when she was recognized for battle, many resonated with the bullshit they thought to be an expression of freedom and defiance. But that too was just another product packaged and delivered to be bought and consumed.

STING is known to be eccentric.

She has the natural ability to entertain - attracting attention without craving it. Her life is a performance regardless of an audience. This is due to her hedonistic values and indulgent nature - a path of self destruction that others vicariously live through. She can be sympathetic, but lacks the ability to empathize. She's level headed with terrible impulse control.

Someone said red didn't suit her. Its now her signature colour.

Ezra is compelling. She stands with the confidence of a God.
Along with her uncouth behavior, her style is both queer and offensive. No one would recognize her without the wig, contacts and exaggerated make up. Her natural face is doll-like and docile. She uses a lot of blush to add colour to her pale complexion.

Aashni has what is sometimes referred to as Electrokinesis. With this ability, Aashni can create and manipulate electricity. Certain strengths of this ability are:​
  • remaining unharmed around places with high voltage electricity. it is similar to the way in which someone who can wield fire would never sustain any burns.​
  • aashni can often generate electricity to charge something or power something up. similarly, her body tends to send off sparks as a kind of defense mechanism when she's caught off guard.​
  • aashni can form lightning from clouds overhead.​
  • aashni can usually sense if there is an electrical source nearby, or an electromagnetic field.​
  • aashni cannot control technology completely, but she can cause electrical appliances to go haywire by stepping into a room. with some luck, she could maybe unlock a room or something that has a finger print scanner or an electrical keypad by just frying the thing and messing with the system, but it doesn't always work.​
  • using up electricity from a source and deflecting it onto someone/something else, as a kind of offensive power.​
limitations of this ability are:​
  • the fact that even though she can generate lightning, she is better off generating it herself or using existing sources of electricity. forming lightning requires way too much of her energy, and aside from that, there also needs to be the presence of clouds overhead. it also works best outdoors, and not so much when she's indoors, but this isn't impossible.​
  • aashni's powers are more or less under control, but she can still be a little volatile. her behaviour often influences the way her ability reacts. being upset or angry can cause nearby appliances to fuse or act funny momentarily. she can also send off random sparks from her body when she's angry.​
  • when generating her own electric energy, the range is not as far as it is when she's building actual lightning from a cloud. if her target is too far, there are high chances of any offensive tactics not even reaching them unless there is an electrical source near them.​
  • generating her own electricity also has a limit because she can't just keep on doing it for as long as she wants. usually, if she has an electrical source nearby, she can just draw on that energy to keep going, but continuous use can also give her bad headaches and, in severe cases, lead to blackouts that could last a while.​
  • certain barriers block her ability to sense nearby technology/electrical sources or affect nearby technology/electrical sources. mainly, these barriers are lead and other substances that are really bad conductors of electricity/do not conduct electricity.​

Summary

Aashni was born to a small family in Eurasia, and her whole life, war was pretty much all she knew. Her father was a soldier, and so was her older brother. There was rarely peace and there was hardly a time where Aashni and her mother didn't worry about seeing the two men of the family come back home in one piece. By the time advances came about in Eurasia, Aashni had become a teenager, and, having witnessed the fight between two nations for so long, she had wanted to join the battle, especially when it seemed like now they had more of a chance with the discovery of dark matter.

By this time, Aashni had also lost her brother to the war, so she was more determined to try and walk in his footsteps and let his sacrifice not be in vain. She went through the change, and came out new. Well, she was the same person, but she was... enhanced. She was stronger, in terms of her abilities. And it was just in time for the final war between Oceania and Eurasia -- the one in which they were defeated. Aashni, among all other Eurasia soldiers, was taken away from her home and forced to turn on her homeland, brainwashed and tortured into believing the views of Oceania. Aashni soon learned not to fight back, and keeps herself tight lipped out of fear that saying the wrong thing would result in enduring more physical and mental pain. She is constantly at a war with her own mind, but on the outside, Aashni just looks like someone with a very good poker face.

For the most part, Aashni is a rather withdrawn person. She's nice, and kind, and always willing to help, but the more bubbly side of her can only be seen when she actually warms up to someone -- a task hard to do considering all she's been through. She can be a fighter if she wants to, and it is not uncommon for her to stand up for herself or people close to her, but she's mostly a soft, humble being, which is quite different to the electric abilities she acquired. Aashni is not known to have a bad temper, though she tends to surprise people with her sharp tongue on the off occasion that she has her patience tested.​

Outfitted with top grade processors, shock absorbers, repuslors for increased punch acceleration, ordinance built into the fists to be fired in precise timing with his punches for added damage affect, built of a top secret mixture of aluminum and tungsten to increase strength while decreasing weight, and capable of a lifting weight of 5 tons, the Bear Arms are capable of ravaging all but the most determined of foes. Should they make connection: the trade off to power is never often speed, and when wearing the Bear Arms, Curtis is fat slower than he might otherwise be. He therefore relies on his Bear Skin even more than he used to. In addition, they are powered by an onboard micro fusion reactor. They do therefore bear a weak point in that area (highly reenforced though it is, and a significant power surge could feasibly undermine its power distribution.

• Bear Skin: Built into his cybernetic enhancements outfitted during the War itself, the Bear Skin is an advanced shielding system designed to protect Curtis from most initial impacts. The greater the impact will of course require a recharge of the system, as it must dissipate the kinetic energy before absorbing more, and the shield does by necessity not cover his arms at the shoulder so as to not compromise it during his pugilism.

• Cybernetic War-grade Arms: Designed to replace the limbs lost to the Gate Keeper, Curtis wears a pair of cybernetic arms on a routine basis. Bearing only slightly more strength than his natural ones, the CWAs are outfitted with with sensors for increased spatial awareness, a plethora of blades attachments, a communications system, and even a 30 round micro-gun when in a pinch. Made of carbon fiber, they are light and strong, but not indestructible.

Curtis Merriam volunteered for the Oceania army early on, finding their cause just, and he proved himself a master of ordinance and pugilistic forms of combat, an ability that minor cybernetics and bio-enhancements improved upon. Quick, precise, and strong, he hit like a bomb wherever he was deployed and tore through enemy ranks like a bear through a campsite. His ferocity earned him both title, prestige, and following, bringing him success that a lack of tactical ecumene might have otherwise denied him.

It didn’t last. As the war raged toward its end, Merriam found himself increasingly disenchanted by the pile of dead bodies that lay at his and his coterie’s feet. His involvement began to lessen, until an encounter with a Eurasian assassin known as the Gate Keeper left him quite literally disarmed at the shoulders. Robbed of his very means of fighting, though his arms were swiftly replaced by arguably better fully cybernetic replacements, Merriam retreated to his desk, though he commissioned in secret a set of advanced battle arms to fit over his more realistically sized replacements, hoping against hope, even as peace fell uncertainly, that he might have the chance to fight the Gate Keeper once again.
He has since kept himself busy with administrative duties tied to his position, as well as the occasional training bout with a certain young woman who bears a similar burden and subsequent enhancement as he.

Genesis OS - A military satellite that is able to launch plasma lasers from orbit while also acting as a guide for a multitude of wireless drones used at ground level. It has four control modules, neurotransmitters, retina display, voice command, and manual inputs.
  • Hatsya (System Iota) - System that pinpoints exact locations to strike with plasma lasers. A downtime is present 1/3 of the time, with a 4-hour break needed for every 8 hours of standby activity due to orbit and power restrictions. Its main drawback is an extremely low tolerance to errors. Powered by solar flares and nuclear energy the system can provide around 8-10 lanches that can last from 2-7 seconds, with a margin of error for about 3ft, before needing to recharge during distant orbit.
  • Meissa (System Lambda) - The base operating system of Genesis, an AI system that maximizes the tracking abilities and calculation accuracy of the system.
Genesis Armory - The guided drone system of Genesis OS, trajectories can be set manually or depend on Meissa’s support, manual adjustments in real time can also be done depending on the model. Drones are reusable and will automatically return unless instructed to self-detonate.
  • Rigel (System Beta) - A storage system that strengths communication with Meissa, allowing faster laser strikes from above. It can serve as a load transporter but its max speed is only about the same as human sprinting. It takes preparation to bring around due to its size of around 4ft.
  • Bellatrix (System Gamma) - Circular drones that have one single plasma blade measuring around 1 ft (30cm) extending out. When activated they start spinning at high speeds and can track targets or be manually controlled. Their power system can only sustain the action for 12-15 seconds before automatically returning or self-detonating. Often used in pairs with one under manual control one under auto tracking. Supply: 8 by default, 36 with Rigel's storage system support.
  • Alnilam (System Epsilon) - A plasma barrier that can be set up between two drones. Used mainly for defense but can be used for offensive purposes with correct planning. Barries can be extended up to 10ft (3m), but the plasma density and heat both go down as the barrier becomes longer. Can be activated for about 120 seconds before needing to let the system cooldown. Supply: 4 (2 pairs) by default, 18 (9 pairs) with Rigel's storage system support
  • Betelgeuse (System Alpha) - An utility object composed of triangular 50x50 self-configuring drones, each about 0.5 inches it can be shaped into many forms for common usage like cup holders, along with the ability to pick up and move small items. Its main function is to serve as the last line of defense and only close ranged weapon within the Genesis Armory. In offense transform mode, it resembles two plasma coated blades, they are activated during immediate close range threats. It's more predictable than human fighters, those trained in hand to hand combat can overpower it quite quickly. Despite this the more battles it sees the more human-like it will become.
  • Mintaka (System Delta) - A defense system that focuses on deflecting electromagnetic attacks that maybe interfere with satellite signal or power surges. It can withstand most generic EMP attacks but could be partially or completely broken with more powerful surges. It has no defensive capabilities against anything else.

He is a long ranged combatant capable of executing a variety of special tactics.

Summary

A genius born in the shadows. The youngest of five in a famed upper-class military family, those birth conditions destined Orion to always fail to live up to any familial expectations during his childhood. Being anemic and sickly he was constantly overshadowed and belittled by his parents as well as older siblings. After being deemed incapable of completing training to become a soldier, his existence was almost completely hidden away by his family in order to preserve their reputation.

Despite this Orion soon found his prodigious aeronautic engineering abilities when he was sent to become a military satellite operator. “Project Meissa” that was concocted with remote-controlled robotic operators and a retiring satellite soon earned him a name among soldiers and engineers. With his growing influence and resources, he created the Genesis OS that allowed him to stand on equal footing with some celebrity soldiers due to its fantastical debut during the war. Although at the tail end of the war a fatal miscalculation let the young man to losing a lung and over half his stomach. Realizing the drawbacks of manual operation, Orion created the A.I upgrade of Meissa in order to prevent similar situations in the future despite the war ending before it was fully complete.

Personality

Level-headed, calm and collective are what most other’s impression of Orion. He often seems distant and lost in thought, but is rarely questioned as for his enthusiasm in developing newer, more powerful weaponry for Oceania never ceased. Many assume that he is simply absorbed in his research and studies.

In reality, Orion does not have much of political opinion, his logical capabilities often suggest that there is something odd about the way society functions. Although he never expressed this, because in contrast to his apathetic, stoic public image he is actually quite mellow and timid. Those who've gotten to know him can see that he is quite softspoken and even a little naive at times. His current success did little to ease his troublesome past, causing a severe lack of confidence and interpersonal skills despite his attempt to seem assertive and commanding. In combat, he is often pushed around by others regardless of rank or authority level.

Appearance

Orion is frail, to put into simplest terms, being on the shorter side of males, especially in the military and has trouble keeping up the standard weight for his height after losing parts of his digestive system. With pale skin that's close to grey-ish due to anemia and dull platinum colored hair, he tries his best to hide his poor conditions, preferring to drape an overcoat on his shoulders in a similar fashion to a cape to not expose his fragile looking form. He also tries to cover up as much skin as possible, usually wearing gloves to hide the scars from IV needles. Though this does little to ease the smell of hospital hallways and laboratories that seems to have seaped into his skin through the years.

    The Angel - A large example of Oceania’s superior technological skills and resources. The Angel is a giant weaponized mech in which Lucia, The Prophet, resides. The mecha significantly increases Lucia’s defense.The mecha can also absorb sunlight during the day and weaponize it by charging her plasma blades, strengthening her shields, or generating lost power. The suit is resistant, nearly immune, to heat.

    Smite - The star shaped design at the center of The Angel is a cannon that can fire a super charged beam of either plasma energy or solar light. It’s a devastating move that can incinerate anyone with out some kind of protection caught in its path. If sunlight is used, it can cause sun poisoning to those with in the vicinity unless they seek shelter.

    Sabrael & Zophiel - The right and left blades the mecha wields. The blades themselves are plasma, allowing them to cut through armor that isn’t reinforced to withstand such levels of heat. They can ignite into flames as well, and light anything flammable. Both are equipped to produce shields. A technique Lucia can do with her shield entails hurtling herself at an opponent(s) and run them through. Direct contact to the shields can cause severe burn damage.

    Divine Sight - The suit is equipped with highly acute sensors that can detect in coming projectiles of any sort. It can also track the movements of an enemy, increasing Lucia’s precision. Divine Sight is not mutually exclusive to the mecha either. Lucia wears bio-engineered contacts outside the mecha that allows her to gather data from her surroundings, and increases her sight willingly. It also comes with different sensors such as night vision and heat vision.

    The Fall - The “feathered” wings of the mecha are not what keeps the mecha afloat since it’s all metal. The mecha has multiple smaller turbines that suck in air and propel it upwards with the aid of some jets found at the heels and back of the suit. The feathers are not just for show though! They’re in fact remotely guided missiles used to hit multiple targets from above. The explosions have a wide area effect.

    Divine Detonation - The Prophet carries a series of miniature scriptures resembling that of The New Dawn’s holy book. Each “book” can do various things, all of which are distinguishable by the color of the cover’s stars. A book with red star is a bomb. White books are snares meant to entrap enemies. Green books have first aid supplies for any allies on the field. Purple books release an acidic gas. Blue books act as tasers and electrify anyone one they come into contact with.

    Ophiel - Lucia’s primary weapon outside her mech suit. A plasma gun that has a significant kinetic energy component. It can take any carbon based material into the chamber where it becomes ionized.     Training
    - Since Lucia is ambidextrous she is able to switch dominant hands, and attacks easily making her moves less predictable and more versatile both inside and outside the mech. Lucia used to be a gymnast before joining the military, and refused to give up it's required training regimens. She's flexible, agile, and quick on her feet. Military training has allowed Lucia to excel in endurance, stamina, marksmanship, and the like. She knows standard hand to hand combat, and how to handle knives and guns as well as disarm them. They also trained her in tactics and strategy. She also knows how to operate standard military vehicles, and piloting. As a Colonel Lucia has learned how to command large groups of people, and has brushed up on both her interpersonal skills.

    Physical
    - Lucia is in top physical condition, save for her eyes, and stronger than most civilians in her age group. She is really dexterous due to her gymnast background, which enables her to do parkour, climbing, and anything similar to the sort. She is also well coordinated, and has great endurance.

  • Drawbacks

    The Angel - The Angel, while it slightly increases speed for Lucia and allows her to fly, is bulky and slower than those who have any kind of boosted speed. It is not an agile mech suit either. It can’t do precise acrobatics. The Angel requires a large amount of energy to operate. Since the suit is one of a kind, Lucia has to ensure that it doesn't get so badly damaged that it cannot be repaired. If it takes too much damage she will be forced to evacuate the mech and send it back to base for repairs. With out the suit Lucia's defense drops in exchange for more agility.

    Smite - The cannon takes a lot of energy, and has to charge before being used. The mecha is usually equipped with several energy tanks used to power up the cannon, but it's limited to just three. When it runs out it can recharge using solar power instead of plasma, but it takes longer to charge up and is virtually useless at night. It can still charge on cloudy days, but it will take significantly longer to the point that it's useless in a fight. The beam of energy it fires can be avoided if the necessary precautions are taken. Sun poisioning, while it is dangerous if untreated, will only lead to more serious issues, such as cancer, with long time exposure. At most those with severe sun poisoning will have irritated skin, pain, swelling, fever, nausea, disorientation, and headaches. Additionally, Sun poisoning does not affect everyone. Some people will be more likely to develop sun poisoning than others.

    Sabrael & Zophiel - The blades cannot penetrate armor made to withstand plasma based attacks or hero’s with impenetrable skin. There is a delay when switching between blade and shield, meaning Lucia has to watch her timing in between offense and defense. While the blades are made to withstand plasma or powerful blows, they are not unbreakable or can't be tampered with in some way.

    Divine Sight - Outside the mecha, extended use of the contacts can cause permanent damage to the eyes. It can cause temporary blindness, which will eventually become permanent blindness. The contacts are still connected to some sort of computer network, and thus can be tampered with by hacking means (if they can bypass encryption and security measures) or electrical based attacks. Frying the contacts or getting them to malfunction can cause serious damage to the eyes.

    The Fall - There is a limited amount of missiles that can be used. The bombs can be shielded against if someone has the right abilities or tech to do so.

    Divine Detonation - EMFs can easily take out any of these bombs with in range. These bombs will detonate no matter who steps on them, which serves a potential problem for advancing soliders. If there is one bomb that detonates, it can cause a chain reaction if it accidentally detonates a near by book bomb. Healing "books" can be used by anyone not just Oceania soldiers. You can avoid the snares if you react quickly enough, or escape them with the proper equipment. Acidic gas wont affect those with an immunity to it.

    Ophiel - Ophiel isn't useful against certain types of armor, especially armor made to withstand highly concentrated plasma. It will not penetrate those with impenetrable skin or abilities. There must be suitable carbon based material near by to use for ammo.

    Bad Eyes - Lucia has used her bio-engineered contacts so much that they've already started causing permanent damage to her eyes. She has to wear glasses outside combat, and if her contacts were to malfunction she will become a bad shot.

    Suit Sickness - Prolonged exposure to the suit is dangerous for Lucia's health. Her immune system has started getting weaker and as a result she is getting sicker easier, and more often than she has before. Before Eurasia's defeat, Taum served as a covert ops soldier. His role was to extract information, inmates, or anything else needed for the cause with as little detection as possible, the only trace of his nightly actions the trail of bodies left in his wake. Like an apparition, his body takes on a faded appearance and allows light and solid objects to pass through without bodily harm. In recent years, this power has become more unstable, at times activating without his direct will for anywhere between a few seconds to an hour. These are what he refers to as his "fits", and this has only deepened his hatred of his powers.
  • Shadowstep - An ability he refers to as "micro-teleportation": the power of instant body displacement on a small scale, with a range between several inches to no more than three feet. The speed of his shifting makes him an incredibly difficult target to hit. Depending on the speed of his shadowstep, he can momentarily make an illusion-like copy of himself, another target for his enemies to attempt to strike. Genesis OS - A military satellite that is able to launch plasma lasers from orbit while also acting as a guide for a multitude of wireless drones used at ground level. It has four control modules, neurotransmitters, retina display, voice command, and manual inputs.
  • Hatsya (System Iota) - System that pinpoints exact locations to strike with plasma lasers. A downtime is present 1/3 of the time, with a 4-hour break needed for every 8 hours of standby activity due to orbit and power restrictions. Its main drawback is an extremely low tolerance to errors. Powered by solar flares and nuclear energy the system can provide around 8-10 lanches that can last from 2-7 seconds, with a margin of error for about 3ft, before needing to recharge during distant orbit.
  • Meissa (System Lambda) - The base operating system of Genesis, an AI system that maximizes the tracking abilities and calculation accuracy of the system.
Genesis Armory - The guided drone system of Genesis OS, trajectories can be set manually or depend on Meissa’s support, manual adjustments in real time can also be done depending on the model. Drones are reusable and will automatically return unless instructed to self-detonate.
  • Rigel (System Beta) - A storage system that strengths communication with Meissa, allowing faster laser strikes from above. It can serve as a load transporter but its max speed is only about the same as human sprinting. It takes preparation to bring around due to its size of around 4ft.
  • Bellatrix (System Gamma) - Circular drones that have one single plasma blade measuring around 1 ft (30cm) extending out. When activated they start spinning at high speeds and can track targets or be manually controlled. Their power system can only sustain the action for 12-15 seconds before automatically returning or self-detonating. Often used in pairs with one under manual control one under auto tracking. Supply: 8 by default, 36 with Rigel's storage system support.
  • Alnilam (System Epsilon) - A plasma barrier that can be set up between two drones. Used mainly for defense but can be used for offensive purposes with correct planning. Barries can be extended up to 10ft (3m), but the plasma density and heat both go down as the barrier becomes longer. Can be activated for about 120 seconds before needing to let the system cooldown. Supply: 4 (2 pairs) by default, 18 (9 pairs) with Rigel's storage system support
  • Betelgeuse (System Alpha) - An utility object composed of triangular 50x50 self-configuring drones, each about 0.5 inches it can be shaped into many forms for common usage like cup holders, along with the ability to pick up and move small items. Its main function is to serve as the last line of defense and only close ranged weapon within the Genesis Armory. In offense transform mode, it resembles two plasma coated blades, they are activated during immediate close range threats. It's more predictable than human fighters, those trained in hand to hand combat can overpower it quite quickly. Despite this the more battles it sees the more human-like it will become.
  • Mintaka (System Delta) - A defense system that focuses on deflecting electromagnetic attacks that maybe interfere with satellite signal or power surges. It can withstand most generic EMP attacks but could be partially or completely broken with more powerful surges. It has no defensive capabilities against anything else.

Summary

A genius born in the shadows. The youngest of five in a famed upper-class military family, those birth conditions destined Orion to always fail to live up to any familial expectations during his childhood. Being anemic and sickly he was constantly overshadowed and belittled by his parents as well as older siblings. After being deemed incapable of completing training to become a soldier, his existence was almost completely hidden away by his family in order to preserve their reputation.

Despite this Orion soon found his prodigious aeronautic engineering abilities when he was sent to become a military satellite operator. “Project Meissa” that was concocted with remote-controlled robotic operators and a retiring satellite soon earned him a name among soldiers and engineers. With his growing influence and resources, he created the Genesis OS that allowed him to stand on equal footing with some celebrity soldiers due to its fantastical debut during the war. Although at the tail end of the war a fatal miscalculation let the young man to losing a lung and over half his stomach. Realizing the drawbacks of manual operation, Orion created the A.I upgrade of Meissa in order to prevent similar situations in the future despite the war ending before it was fully complete.

Personality

Level-headed, calm and collective are what most other’s impression of Orion. He often seems distant and lost in thought, but is rarely questioned as for his enthusiasm in developing newer, more powerful weaponry for Oceania never ceased. Many assume that he is simply absorbed in his research and studies.

In reality, Orion does not have much of political opinion, his logical capabilities often suggest that there is something odd about the way society functions. Although he never expressed this, because in contrast to his apathetic, stoic public image he is actually quite mellow and timid. Those who've gotten to know him can see that he is quite softspoken and even a little naive at times. His current success did little to ease his troublesome past, causing a severe lack of confidence and interpersonal skills despite his attempt to seem assertive and commanding. In combat, he is often pushed around by others regardless of rank or authority level.

Appearance

Orion is frail, to put into simplest terms, being on the shorter side of males, especially in the military and has trouble keeping up the standard weight for his height after losing parts of his digestive system. With pale skin that's close to grey-ish due to anemia and dull platinum colored hair, he tries his best to hide his poor conditions, preferring to drape an overcoat on his shoulders in a similar fashion to a cape to not expose his fragile looking form. He also tries to cover up as much skin as possible, usually wearing gloves to hide the scars from IV needles. Though this does little to ease the smell of hospital hallways and laboratories that seems to have seaped into his skin through the years.

Superhuman Durability:
+ Laila’s bones, muscle and tissue are reinforced and stronger due to her mutation. This makes it almost impossible to puncture her flesh and muscle and also makes it much more difficult to break her bones.
+On the surface level, poisons aren't very effective.
+Her durability is her main line of defense.
- Corrosives are irritable and if a strong enough mixture is used it can scar and burn her skin.
- If toxins and poisons enter the bloodstream they can weaken her, slow her down and quite possibly incapacitate her should the dosage be high enough; until her healing factor can kick in and help her regenerate and remove the poisons and toxins from her system.

Superhuman Stamina:
+ Laila can sustain a few days without requiring proper rest.
- Fatigue begins to grow visible after this time, when on minimal amounts of sleep.

Superhuman Senses:
+ With an acute sense of hearing, Laila can hear sounds coming from a greater distance than the average human.
- Higher end frequencies and sounds can be piercing and painful to her sensitive ears.
- Lower end frequencies and sounds can be nauseating.
- She is prone to overloading her sense of hearing if she doesn't focus on dampening it.
+ Laila's pupils can dilate further than the average human for better view in lower-lighting and darker settings without the aid of night-vision equipment.
-She is more susceptible to being incapacitated and disoriented by bursts of bright light.
+ Laila has a very strong sense of smell. Capable of discerning different smells layered upon one another.

Enhanced regeneration:
+ Along with Laila's superhuman durability comes an advanced level of regeneration capabilities. Although not instantaneous it is above average in comparison to most.
- Platinum powder conflicts with Laila's internal system instantly. Causing something akin to an allergic reaction. Which dampens her enhanced regenerative capability until it leaves her system. The reasons for this weakness are unknown.

Berserk:
+ Laila's Berserk ability is something she is capable of controlling (although she hasn't bothered to work on her control). It’s triggered based on her level of rage, anger and excitement for battle / thirst for blood. In this state her body's inhibitors shut off allowing her access to her maximum power output.
+/- Laila tends to act in a more animalistic and predatory fashion when under the influence of this ability.
- It's a draining process that leaves her in a tired and weakened state, especially if she uses the full extent of her abilities while she's gone “Berserk”.
- It is much easier for her to trigger her Primal Instinct when under the influence of “Berserk”.

Primal Instinct:
+/- A last ditch effort to survive. Laila’s human processes shut off as she becomes a feral being that strives for nothing more than survival, no matter the cost.
- Her primal instinct is also considered a weakness. In this state she cannot discern friend from foe or right from wrong. The only goal is to come out on top. Survival is the only thing that matters.
- When under the influence of either her Berserk or Primal Instinct abilities, Laila grows weaker much faster as her body is constantly pushing it’s maximum output with no chance to properly regenerate and re-energize.

WEAPONS

Laila's use has always been purely for intimidation and as a scare tactic. On the rare occasion she is deployed to battle she is given a basic soldier kit that consists of an assault rifle, a high-powered side arm, an array of grenades (frag, smoke and concussion) and a secondary weapon which is the only variable that changes, typically a shotgun or some sort of heavy weapon (grenade launcher or heavy machine gun).

The only specialized item in her arsenal was an implant to be triggered remotely to force her to enter her "Berserk" state.​

Summary
Born to unknown parents on a Eurasian testing facility and training base, rumor has it that Laila was the child of a dark matter infused soldier and a laboratory worker. She was told that her mother died upon giving birth to her and that her surname came from a file of a woman who died during labour. She was never able to gain access to further information or find this file.

From a young age Laila was exposed to studying, analysis and experimentation. Her unnatural eye-colour along with the rumor of a dark matter infused soldier being her father were the two main reasons she went through such rigorous trials. By the age of twelve they hadn't managed to find anything abnormal about her and she was placed among the other children that lived on the base to begin studies and see where she would be placed upon maturation. It was in this setting that the bullying begun. The reasons she was treated poorly varied from being an orphan, to looking weird and acting weird, or simply because she was slow at learning, since she was placed in a classroom for the first time at age twelve without any form of schooling before that. Laila quickly learned that the other kids would most likely never be nice to her or befriend her. It was at this point in life that she found herself spending time alone, until she discovered the facilities that housed the animals on the base, all mostly present for studying and experimentation. Laila soon discovered that she had an affinity towards the animals and when she wasn't in class or doing chores she could be found in one of the various labs playing or talking to any animal she could find.

It was at the age of sixteen that a single horrible decision, which went against the rules, would change her life. A dog she had grown fond of was being transported to a lab, Laila following and staying as close as she could, until they wouldn’t allow her any further. "TW-DS-04" or Tawdy as she called him, was strapped down and sedated as Laila watched from the windows. They poked and prodded, made notes and studied. The sedative used on Tawdy seemed to wear out sooner than they had anticipated and with one last injection, the animal jolted into action viciously. The doctors were attacked and the dog attempted to escape. Alarms blared as he rammed into the lab doors with enough force to shatter the windows. The rest of the memories are a blur to Laila. She recalls bits and pieces on occasion but the full incident was never disclosed to her. The next memory that always comes back when recalling the event, is of Laila waking up in an isolated room that was not her own. A scientist and someone who seemed of high status watching her before unconsciousness claims her.

Personality
Laila is a very quiet person. Her whole life she has simply done what she's told regardless of how she feels about it. Some say she just blindly follows orders, despite that not being true. Internally she screams and argues with herself about the tasks forced upon her, tasks that for others tend to be choices. Externally she avoids arguments, since from a young age she was practically programmed to obey or else there would be painful consequences. Laila has never had a say; her word, to others, meant nothing. She's just a filthy animal.

That being said she's certainly not easy to approach, even though she shows submissive signs in her posture. Laila's made herself jagged and has built serious walls and tough skin after a life of mental and physical abuse. She will only show anger and irritation, as anything else, in her mind, shows her vulnerability. Even those that claim to be close to her will rarely see anything other than what she wants them to see.

  • Scars from various animals adorn her body. These are all pre-dark matter fusion. When she used to spend time with the animals within her base.

  • (The) Monster - The first nickname given to her after her first battle. The carnage witnessed by those who chose to use the term, was in their minds, justifiable. Laila despises this nickname. It objectifies her and makes her feel like she means nothing more to those who use it, than just a beast to be unleashed. Her typical response when being called this is a low menacing growl, which she is aware doesn't make her case any better.
  • Wildling - This nickname came to fruition when someone chose to use a softer term in comparison to "Monster". Laila dislikes this name as it makes her feel like she is still just an animal in the eyes of those who use it.
  • Wolf - A code-name given to her for the battlefield. It's rarely used by soldiers and squad-mates as most will typically use one of the above. It's not a name she likes, but it's preferred when in battle.
  • Skovgaard - The use of her last name always signified that she was in trouble of some sorts. Over time she’s learned not to care about being summoned by her last name. Trouble or not, it’s better to be called by her last name instead of some other degrading term someone may come up with.
  • El - The first letter of her name. She is indifferent towards this particular nickname. Laila has discovered that people comfortable with her presence will use this nickname in a casual conversation.

Hey folks. I have some bad news today. Unfortunately, I don't feel like continuing this role-play anymore; I haven't been feeling up to role-playing in general, really. RL has been pretty hectic and I want to focus on that for the time being.
