Lately Alerts haven't seemed to be working for me when someone tags me, or quotes me, or mentions me, or responds to a watched thread.

Etc etc.

I checked, and it is NOT my preferences.
 
It may be the spam filter kicking in. To avoid this make sure you read all of your alerts and posts that may have been posted after the post you received the alert for. Otherwise to prevent you from being spammed by alerts you may no longer have interst in or the system being overwhelmed you will stop recieving alerts entirely.
