The Missing King

In the chapel of the church the students gathered, sitting restlessly in their benches as they waited for the ritual to be over. Outside the first years were giddily waiting, excited to be 'knighted' into the school and start their initiation. Standing in a row they all marched in a slow step, one by one reaching the altar where the principal stood with Excalibur's replica.

The sword was justice. Each student bend the knee in front of the principal, representing the crown of the school. The point of the blade tapped each shoulder once and a blessing for the students came forth, wishing them good fortune in their studies and relationships. A short speech was given that heaved down on the importance of friendship and the opportunity that Albion Preparatory gives.

Next came equality. Forming a circle all students stood side by side, the intention for them to realise that none stood above the other. The new Guinevere is introduced to the school and crowd, so that all knew who the senior was that they could seek in case of trouble. The head of the female dormitories carried the golden chalice filled with grape juice. It was the chalice of fairness, from which each student in the circle drank and passed it to the next student. The last part represented fairness, as they would all share amongst each other equally like brothers and sisters.

With that their bond was sealed. Having been knighted into the honour of Albion and having shared a drink the students were bound to each other and Albion for the entirety of their stay here and beyond. The ritual was over and the school year had officially started and all seemed well.

However, only few noticed that what was off. The male counterpart to Guinevere, Arthur had made no appearance in the ritual. Where the senior head of the male dormitories would usually take over the chalice from Guinevere and speak his blessing as part of the ritual had been skipped. Instead a hole had been left smoothened and ignored, but the older students stirred restlessly. Where was their Arthur?

None truly knew. The student chosen as the male representative of the school was an exemplary student and it was unlike him to not appear on a day as important as today. However, with the instructions to not stir any distress with the new students the school covered up the hole and forced the rest to be silent.

Some assumed that the boy was simply late, but all who knew the senior knows that he is punctuality himself. However, the seniors know better. Having organised a party the night prior some of the students are anxiously eyeing the forest nearby the school. Something is stirring and no one dares to look.

He was late.

Jamie walked along the empty corridor, his backpack half-open from carelessly neglecting to prepare his things the previous night. The ceremony would have already started, or perhaps it was already nearing completion, but it hardly mattered. At least, it didn't matter to him. There were more things on his mind that morning: last night's party, and the rumors that had sprouted since then.

The incident wasn't something he had seen with his own eyes, but the story was relayed to him by a close friend who had experienced it all. Jamie and a few others were sitting by a bonfire when George had approached them. He had had a couple of drinks, but his eyes were clear and sober, and the frown on his face was grave. With shaking hands and a pitchy voice that indicated fear, he recounted what had happened.

It started with a game of Truth or Dare, with Michael Zhang as the victim.

They had urged Michael to perform a dark ritual--a well-known campus lore. Nobody expected anything to come out of it, of course, but it went terribly wrong. In the chaos that ensued, Michael Zhang disappeared. All that was left of him were traces of blood on the forest floor.

Jamie and a few classmates had spent the rest of the evening looking for Michael. They had called his phone, checked the dormitories, and even reported the incident to the professors. However, they couldn't find him. Morning came sooner than expected as Jamie gave his traumatized friend some company. They both knew that the situation was in capable hands now, but neither could simply forget the incident. Jamie hadn't experienced it himself, but he had heard enough from others to know that the circumstances were dire.

And yet, school went on like nothing had happened. How could it?

Smack.

It took him a second or two to realize that he had bumped into someone. His things fell onto the floor: an assortment of books, pens, and finally,

A single syringe amidst it all.

Alodia Josephine Turner

Location: Main hallway | Interacting with: Jamie Schwartz @FieryCold

The initiation ceremony of Albion was absolutely the dullest thing ever. It was a lot of talk that she couldn't hear properly, sitting still and filled with nonsense of tradition that she could scream at.

Which she didn't, because otherwise daddy was going to cut off the moneyflow. She really couldn't afford that with all the supplies she needed and still needed.

Though, at the other hand it was him who had wanted her to go to this fancypancy school. If it had been left to Alodia she would have gone elsewhere. Somewhere more fun and less pompous. A french boarding school with all the other rich kids. Pah! What he was thinking of sending Alodia here was beyond her imagination. Anyone could see that she just didn't fit in, no matter how many brands she wore.

At least there was the party last night. There had been booze sneaked into the school grounds, there were snacks, loud banging music that muffled all else out, but there was fun. And Alodia was always in for some fun.

That night she had left her hearing aid behind in the dorms, enjoying the muffled sounds as the colours were splashing in front of her eyes. Another art piece on mind.

Though, the blur of the party also had dark spots. The pinkette couldn't recall what it was again that changed the mood. Her mind was twisting too much and the noises were overlapping each other. All she remembered were a few students passing out, and another few vomiting, while the rest fought. Needless to say, the party ended soon after that.

Still a enjoyable party!

Humming to herself the girl moved down the hallways, glad to be skipping out of the ceremony and have the school for herself. No one to tell her she was too loud, no one to bother her…

Or not.

"Hey!" Alodia called, feeling a force walk into her. Her voice was, as per usual, louder than intended and the girl fell down to the ground along with a clutter of other items. "Watch it!" she snarled her head groaning in the slight hangover that was left behind. Picking herself up the artist's eyes fell over a needle like object, blinking to realise that she saw that right.

"You dropped your drugs!" this time she did intended to speak loudly, turning around to her unfortunate figure when she realised…

"Joey? James, no... Jamie!" the girl exclaimed loudly, having to correct herself a few times before she finally remembered the name of the blonde. Wow, did she just walk into a jackpot. Mister funny on crack?
