General Appearance:
Cessyl is 5'8, very athletic and muscular for a woman. Her hair is blonde and in a short messy version of pageboy style which she cuts herself. She has several scars and bruises on her body, the most pronounced of which being a set of scars at her left hip. She has intense blue eyes and plump lips accompanied by crooked teeth and an ever-sunburnt nose. It's a rare day that she isn't at least moderately disheveled.
General Personality:
Cessyl is naturally sunny, determined, emotional, and in many ways naive. She moves through the world with relative ease and has a persistent sense of wonder. She believes in fate, country, and a code of ethics. She's a dedicated and enthusiastic soldier, a fixer who doesn't like to leave any problem unremedied.
Inner Personality:
While she projects strength and good behavior, Cessyl still struggles with anxiety and self-loathing. She's very much aware of her homosexuality, but has lasting and painful shame around it. She's also very aware of being low-born and female and knows she must work extra hard to make up for these cultural strikes against her. Her emotions are powerful and she is vulnerable to impulsive acts and other meltdowns when truly overwhelmed. Physically she is strong and able to endure many things but on the inside she's still very soft of heart.
History:
Cessyl was born in the small country village of Amal in Southern Melleica. Cessyl's family holds a land contract, an ancient legal and religious responsibility to keep the same bloodline farming the same plot of land. The contract passes from parent to eldest available child when the parent has met or exceeded the age of forty-five and the child has met or exceeded the age of eighteen. The contract bound Cessyl's father, Taschek, to the family farming plot throughout most of her life. Cessyl's mother, Aedrith, died when Cessyl was five and left behind three children: Cessyl, elder brother Tasch, and younger sister Lisze.
Despite being poor, Cessyl had a fun childhood electing to spend her free time adventuring and rough housing with her brother whom she greatly admired. She and Tasch particularly enjoyed studying fighting techniques, and sparring with each other and the boys in their village. While Cessyl did not have the benefit of school, she liked to listen to the storytellers who passed down the oral history of Melleica and has gained an extensive knowledge of these tales over the years.
When Cessyl was twelve and her brother sixteen, Tasch entered training for the military. Although too young to enter herself and not welcome as a woman in the gender-biased South, Cessyl still studied whatever she could glean from him. This was her first experience picking up a real sword and she was immediately and powerfully drawn to the feeling it brought.
Although Tasch was oldest of the Eid children, popular optimism about the war against their rival kingdom led all to believe that his tour would be over well before Cessyl's eighteenth birthday, leaving Tasch to inherit the contract as expected. However, the war dragged on, long and bitter, and it soon became clear that Cessyl would inherit the contract instead upon her eighteenth birthday. Desperate not to become trapped in Amal, Cessyl fled in search for training bases in the Middling, using her fighting skills and adeptness at physical labor to pay her way.
Upon entering training Cessyl shot up in the ranks due to her years of prior practice. Eventually Cessyl tried for the rank of Elite and passed. Shortly thereafter she received summons to fulfill an opening for an "elite female" at a famous prison known as The Tower. Here she guards the one and only occupant, the princess of the rival kingdom.
