As far as Perona was concerned, their entire plan was going by smoothly and quickly without a hitch. She found that her time in temporary stasis had done little to dull her senses or abilities. As she followed Loriel, who had taken the lead and a gun, they made their way down a series of corridors until Loriel stopped at an intersection, entering a room with the I.D. card that he'd swiped earlier. He had to have spotted something, obviously there were quite a few men on this ship, because the next thing Perona knew, there was a loud

obviously, there was another soldier in their way. However, this time with a gun involved, they'd be gathering all the attention of the remaining guards. "Guard the entrance for a second!" Loriel's voice called, Perona already standing in the doorway, her newly acquired knife at the ready, along with the cord she carried. While waiting for the first signs of guards to come rushing down the corridor, Perona attached the knife and cord, tying one end around the hilt of the knife securely. Melee weapon becomes long-ranged, just until they could get their old weapons back. There wasn't much interference with whatever Loriel was trying to do, and Perona was grateful for that, as the lights went out for a moment, and the lighting for the reserve lights left much to be imagined in terms of visibility. This was followed by the sound of a loud crunch from behind her. This was followed by the sound of a loud crash, and the fizzing of wiring, and other such noise.

Loriel was back at the door in no time at all, "Alright, step three. We have one minute." Perona followed Loriel closely as they trekked across the long hallway. "That's it. It's shut down, so we'll need to get through the access hatch and climb up to get to the weapon cache." Towards an elevator and access hatch that would take them to their weapons. And Perona could finally ditch the makeshift weapon and take back her old- The sound of a boot shifting its weight immediately caught her attention, mostly because it was so close, and so quiet, like it was waiting. "Hold on!" she hissed, body already weaving around Loriel and low to the ground, the click of the gun readying was met with Perona thrusting the long knife into their would-be perpetrator's arm. The guard pulled the gun up in pain, and the shot fired slightly over Loriel's head, probably singeing some hair. Perona didn't give much quarter after the crisis was averted, rushing forward with the remainder of the cord and wrapping it around the man's neck. With his arm attached to the knife, he could do little to stop the attack. A successful twist and snap executed by Perona left the guard dangling in her grip, until she released him form her grip and knife. But there were quite a few voices in the distance who were attracted by the gunfire.

"Get to the elevator, then. I've got your back." Perona took the knife and standard pistol from the deceased guard, as well as the tactical sling to hold it in. This time asking that Loriel follow behind her and instruct her on where they need to go to get their stuff back. The shapes in the distance were two or three. Perona remembered that there weren't that many people on this vessel to begin with. When they started firing, Perona wasn't sure whether to laugh or not as they took cover from the fire. "Oh goodness..." she murmured, peering around a corner as she fired two or three shot at the closest person. "What would you have me do to get out of this situation, Loriel? I could use your input."

With that thirty second period of frantic mouse-movement and boot smashing out of the way, he ran back over to the door and said, "alright, step three. We have one minute." With that, it was time for him to run over to the elevator. Left, right, straight. He pointed ahead. He had opened the elevator door with the console, but the access hatch wasn't automated. "That's it. It's shut down, so we'll need to get through the-" "Hold on!" Loriel felt a shiver fly down his spine as he looked to his left, feeling Perona shifting past him. As he did, he also saw down the barrel of a rifle and a dirty, muscular pirate staring down its sights. Oh.

BANG

Am I dead? He opened his eyes. Perona was quickly prying a few things off of the guy's still corpse. He patted around his head to make sure everything was still there. Nope, all good. He was about to thank her, but she was the first to speak. "Get to the elevator, then. I've got your back." You sure do. He ran.

Immediately after reaching the elevator, he heard Perona start running over. He didn't bother looking over at her, he was busy standing on the railing and trying to pry the elevator open with a chunk of metal.

CLICK

He hit the door, forcing it open. But as he did, he heard foosteps quickly approaching from behind Perona and around the corner they were just at. He scrambled up and into the elevator shaft as quickly as he could, then reached his hand down. Before he knew it, Perona was in the elevator shaft with him. "You're really quite exceptional." He commented, closing and barring the access hatch as the first few bullets started hitting the elevator walls below them.

The next step was to climb up to the next floor, so that's what they did. Loriel went first since he knew how to operate the shut door at the top of the elevator shaft. Once he got near the top, he heard movement on the other side. He frowned. I don't think I can handle the recoil like this. He looked back down and saw that the mooks were banging on the access hatch door - that or they were trying to shoot it. I guess I don't have a choice.

He leveled the gun at the intersection point between the door and the floor, then positioned himself so that the gun's kickback wouldn't whack him in the face. After waiting for the movement to stop, he fired a round. It clearly missed, as a volley of bullets greeted him in return. He kept his head down until he heard the fellow on the other side release the mag, then set his pistol up to one grouping of holes, aimed through another one, and took another shot.

It hit the guy's arm. The guy cursed like a sailor as the pain caused him to drop the mag. Loriel wasn't feeling to hot either, as his wrist and hand were starting to shake from pain. He took another shot after re-positioning. This time, the shot hit the guy's chest. He still didn't give up though - his gun was loaded. Loriel panicked and took another shot, but missed and had to duck down for another volley. This guy's damn resilient. Once the volley was done, he popped up and, through a bigger hole, returned fire, smacking the guy right in the head.

With that ordeal over, Loriel pried open what remained of the door and quickly looked around gun-first as Perona followed behind. He heard footsteps around the corner that led to the weapon storage. "Almost there, final stretch." With the delays they had, he was only confident that they had 30 more seconds. It was going to be pretty close.

As he ran forward, he paused at the corner. He was certain that he heard something, but it sounded pretty far back. He gathered his guts, bent low, and dove around the corner, over to a small bit of cover. He heard a shot fly past him as he did. Shots kept raining around him and against his cover once he landed - that is, they did until Perona swung around the corner and popped the shooter's head open.

Once he was able to stand again, he ran toward the weapon cache door. When he got there, the door was closed, so he opened it with his ID and rushed in. Inside, he found their gear and a bunch of other stuff, just as they knew they would. He ditched the kinetic pistol, grabbed his harness, slung it over his shoulder, grabbed a breaching charge, and pulled out a rifle. With that, he sprinted back toward the elevator. They didn't have a second to spare.

As soon as he got back to the elevator, he pried open the door, threw in a breaching charge and waited. Once he heard a shout in the elevator, he pressed the detonator. The charge blew up and he quickly aimed down the shaft with his rifle. The roof of the elevator was blown open and two corpses lay in the rubble on the damaged floor of the elevator. He quickly climbed down the elevator shaft, landed in the elevator and ran for the escape pods.

How many have we killed now? He tried counting. He personally killed 4, and he remembered Perona killing at least 4. Is there a single pirate left? It didn't matter, they wouldn't be able to pilot the ship without the whole crew anyway. Once he reached the end of the hallway, he activated the escape pod with the ID and took aim into the pod. Nobody was inside. He aimed back down the corridor to cover Perona as she followed him. Once she was in the pod and Loriel was sure that no one was following them, he rushed back in and slammed the "eject" button.

With that, Loriel collapsed into a chair from exhaustion and barely managed to get strapped in before he was tossed around like leaves in a salad from the thrust of the launch. Gear was arrayed all over him like ornaments on a Christmas tree. He looked over at Perona. "Damn fine job you did there." He pulled the sunglasses out of the pocket of his harness and set them on his face. Finally. Some peace of mind. The peace of mind lasted a solid ten seconds before he remembered:

"Now we need to find a way back."
