Academy of Arms!

Anthony was shocked that his opponent went to block the first strike rather than dodge which threw off his momentum a bit when Emil struck upwards towards his head. Anthony's adrenaline had slowed down the strike in his mind just in time for him to lean himself slightly off to the right to dodge it getting nicked along the cheek. The next strike came towards his gut before he took a small step back only to be knocked down on his ass from the sweeping kick. The wind was knocked out of his lungs for but a moment before he used his sheath to jab at Emil's gut only to give him a moment of space, after that he rolled onto his feet and sheathed his sword.

"This is going to be the end of the fight Emil. It was fun but i have far too much of an advantage."

Anthony leaped back twice to gain a bit of distance before charging towards Emil again. The look in Anthony's eyes changed from one of excitement to one of seriousness. His steps hit the ground heavily while he drew closer and closer until he tackled into Emil rather than slashing or stabbing. His eyes quickly returned to the look of excitement as a smirk came upon his face while his blade was pointed at the throat of his opponent who was now knocked down upon the floor.

"Ha i gotcha didn't I. You probably thought i was trying something super serious or secret. Nah that stuff isn't for practice. It was a good fight, i hope we get to do it again."

Emil felt the agony of defeat. Sweet pain. He grinned, hiding his true fury behind his well-crafted mask. He questioned himself as to why he hadn't gotten up quickly; it was unlike him to stay down, his spars with his father had always knocked him down at least once, but he would always roll away or get back up. He kicked his head back and his foot upwards, knocking the blade away, and allowing him to regain his stance. He'd sustained a few too many injuries, more than he'd wanted, during the fight, but he felt that he should do at least something SLIGHTLY fancy. After a moment of regaining his posture, sheathing his blades, and dusting invisible dust particles that didn't exist off of himself, he offered his hand to Anthony, as a sign that he was finished. Heheheeeeee! And my dear boy lost. Oh such a poor soul, he lost his first fight against a new opponent. Ooh, goodies, I hope he takes it to heart... Emil told the voice to stuff it, and go back to the dark spot in the back of his head.

"Good fight,"
Emil managed to get out, sounding perfectly normal, adding a tinge of regret to the facade to make it sound more believable. "We'll fight again, more likely than not."

He did exactly as his father had taught him to do next: never dress your small wounds. Which were all of them. He simply rejoined the crowd, and let his body take care of the rest. A year or so ago, his family had taken a platelet count in Emil's blood. At the time it had seemed a little morbid, but in due time he realized it wasn't a bad thing. He had gotten a platelet count of around 400 million per millilitre of blood; his body clotted wounds quicker than most other people. His family had been worried that Emil had been born with Thrombocytosis like his younger brother; he wasn't, and there were no real issues. He was just on the higher side of the platelet count. His brother got blood clots occasionally because of his condition, but was always fine, as their father had medical equipment and a doctor nearby at all times in case of such an event.

Emil walked over to the other second years, and simply waited for Konome to announce the next group to go. In his mind, he was cursing himself repeatedly. He didn't like losing, far from it. But he would take it as a learning point. He would have to train with Anthony again, as to get better against him.

Kenzi tried to get Georgia to sit next to her for the longest, but it was no use. After her defeat, Georgia wanted nothing to to with anybody. No one had the right to talk to her and try to reassure her; Kenzi most especially. Kenzi always had a heart too soft and caring for Georgia's own liking. She would have shown concern in her big blue eyes, trying to touch Georgia's side as if instant contact would heal her wounds. But no. Georgia did not want sympathy, empathy, or pity. It was no mystery that she lost to Tatsukie so quickly after all of the flaunting she did earlier. Everybody in the room had saw the fight. What was done was done, never to be brought up again in Georgia's presence. She planned on making it a faint memory, trying desperately to learn from her mistake.

Kenzi chewed down on her lip for the umpteenth time in that short amount of time of the fight's progression. It was clear that there was nothing she could do to soothe her friend over. She just had to let out all of that steam and humility. Kenzi adjusted her glasses to give Georgia's red pigtails one last frown, eventually turning her back towards her friend to observe the next fight. Anthony and Emil had been called to the middle of the arena for the next sparring. Interesting enough, Kenzi was surprised. This Anthony guy just came into the class and already he was being sent in the middle of a potential war zone? Konome must not have thought into the process of making her students feel comfortable and at ease; especially when they knew they were going to eventually be shot into battle.

Either that or she just didn't care. Kenzi went with the second idea.

Anthony, despite just arriving, dusted the early fight off of his shoulders, though not as smugly as Georgia may have done. Good, so he was mentally off to a good thought. He had some confidence as well as he should have, the gun and sword combo was an infamous tactic to use in battle. The best of both worlds, people would say. Kenzi didn't want to just drop the won on Anthony just because he two of the best weapons. That just would've been unfair. Still, she had to give credit where credit is due.

Meanwhile, Georgia's fingers slid across what she assumed to be a bruise that snaked its ways from mid-stomach all the way down to her thigh. Tatsukie's kick hit a something...important, and whatever that was, it didn't geel so good when she fell on the ground, the floor hitting the same exact spot. It was embarrassing, getting beaten by a simple kick when he could have blew her brains all over the floor. Surly, Konome would have at least been entertained. Georgia couldn't bring herself to look at the teacher anymore than she could have anyone else. Humiliation was still burned behind her cheeks, brushing them with a tickle-me-pink color. Even though the fight was over, she knew that people sent cross looks her way. Her pink lips pursed into a tiny circle before she exhaled, bringing her eyes up to the boy walking to the middle of the floor. Hopefully Emil would put up some bit of a fight, at least for entertainment's sake.

WREEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Georgia's and Kenzi's eyes flew open when Anthony did the unspeakable...he latched the gun to his hip and zipped straight at Emil with his sword only. The advantage Kenzi figured he had before was now down in percentage. They both didn't know if he was being like cocky like Georgia, or he was simply that good that he didn't have a need for the gun. Emil had his dagger in his hand, but his lack of a defensive stance quickly put him in a disadvantage. Georgia saw so many opportune times for some major bloodshed, but the only one she saw was a slit across Anthony's cheek. Kenzi winced. Georgia smirked. Emil hesitated. The fight was over as soon as it began. Whatever was going on in Emil's head screwed him up badly. The kid was too focused on the sword, he didn't begin to think about being tackled. The glinting of a sword beamed across the room from slivers of sunlight from the side windows, bouncing off the pillars. Anthony said something incoherent and a whistle blew. Unlike Tatsukie, he didn't seem to be out for the final blow much like everyone else. Kenzi admired that.

"Great job, guys."she whispered as both boys walked back to their spots, seemingly unphased by any of the pain they had felt throughout their fight. So far, Georgia went through the most hell. Georgia shot a glance towards Anthony and did something she may have never been seen doing in her life: She nodded at him in respect. The whole gun thing was not arrogance, it was a part of a strategy, something she had yet to work on.

"Anthony is the victor and a quick one, I'd say. No matter. The sooner the better. Tobias. Kenzi. To the middle, now. At my whistle."she said, looking at both of them white the silver whistle already to her lips.

With Georgia safely off of the arena floor with Kenzi's help, the second match was selected. It was to be between the new student, Anthony and Emil. While the two headed out to begin their duel, Tobias quickly looked in Georgia's direction. One look at her and it was clear that were would be no consoling her despite Kenzi's impulse to want to help her friend. Knowing better than to stoke a raging flame, Tobias instead set his attention back to the two out in the arena.

Never one to sell another fighter short, as it comes down to skill as well as weapon advantage, Tobias watched with increased interest when Anthony put his pistol away. He plans on fighting head to head, huh? Risky, giving up an advantage. Perhaps it was to show his opponent respect... or he was trying to show off, being a new student. Either way, Tobias doubted it would earn their class any more points from Konome Sensei. The students all had their own theories regarding the teacher's methods and Tobias had a feeling she didn't set up these matches completely randomly. It was like she wanted to test not only the student's fighting ability, but also gauge how well they deal with non-optimal battle conditions.

The fight was under way and Emil took a stance to signal Anthony that it was his move. Anthony responded with a charge, playing to the strengths of the katana. Unlike the expectations of most people, the katana was meant to end fights as quickly as possible. The clashing of steel was rare and drawn out fights between two swordsmen was the stuff of fiction. Fortunately for Emil, he seemed to already know this and took measures to deflect the katana's drawing attack with his sheath. The power of the slash forced him back and still managed to do a small amount of damage. The second attack came quickly, making a neat cut through Emil's shirt as well as leaving a graze along his chest. Emil reacted quickly, taking his chance to counter attack. The strike consisted of a high slash of his knife, leaving a small cut on Anthony's cheek, followed by a sweep kick. It was rare to see used practically, but it still had it's uses. Anthony pushed away Emil with his sword's sheathe for breathing room, even putting his sword away. Was he going to use the drawing slash again? To Tobias' surprise and probably everyone else's he didn't. He charged Emil, only to tackle him to the floor, earning him a victory. Tobias was shocked by the outcome, seeing that Anthony went without half of his arsenal. It was as impressive as it was short lived.

Konome Sensei announced Anthony the victor and wasted no time announcing the next combatants. In an instant, Tobias went from focused over the sound of his name, to shock when Konome Sensei named Kenzi as his opponent.

"You and I, together again." he joked aloud to Kenzi, looking over into the girl's eyes with a friendly smile. They were two for two at being paired up by the teachers so far. Well, if nothing else that would make things interesting. They had shared details their weapons with each other in Rolan Sensei's class. It was bound to have an impact on their spar. "Best of luck to you." he added, pulling his amber eyes away from her to make his way into the arena's floor. Taking his spear from it's resting place on his shoulder to take a stance, Tobias stood at his starting position, strategies already starting to form for dealing with Kenzi's shuriken.

Well, that was interesting. When Anthony put his sword away again Brant briefly the thought that using the same technique twice, especially in the same fight, sometimes wasn't a good idea. Then again on of the most effective techniques for the katana was the drawing-slash move. So Brant watched to see what Anthony would do and it seemed had played off Emil's expectations from when he used the move the first time. He might be tricky to fight, especially since he also has a pistol.

Next up was Tobias and Kenzi. It wasn't really surprising, they obviously had a friendship going on and this teacher seemed to enjoy seeing things like friendships and lives being tested in and by battle. He didn't want Konome to catch him looking at her so he instead scanned the faces around the room one more time. Kenzi seemed to be docile enough, apparently her weapon was the throwing star, or multiple throwing stars. The weapon had the advantage of range over close melee weapons but the spear wasn't a close melee weapon. The stars could also be deflected or blocked, thinking of this made Brant wonder if Kenzi had an alternate means of dealing damage.

Finding himself thinking about contrasts, Brant's eyes wondered over to Georgia, still quite burned about losing how she did. How the mighty fall. They say the bigger they are the harder they fall but that didn't just apply to physical stature, it could also refer to big talk. Although she probably could back it up, it just didn't happen today. Briefly the fire of Georgia's eyes met with the cool of his. All he could offer her was a simple shrug before turning his attention back to the students in the ring, wondering how their weapons would play against each other.

Lance had been more entertained by the short battle than he had thought he would be. Perhaps it was the way the victor had handicapped himself by using only his blade, or that he used something as unexpectedly simple as a tackle to secure victory. He wasn't sure if it was over-confidence in his skills or a deliberate use of misdirection, but the result was an enemy that was difficult to predict in battle. This year's newbies are starting to look like quality entertainment.

[DASH=#006699]
"Oh no..."she whispered to herself. It finally hit her right when she caught eye contact with Konome who hadn't changed her expression at all since the ending of the last battle. Both of their eyes hit one another's, and suddenly, Kenzi remembered it: she and Tobias were the only 2 Second Years left. That meant...the last battle of the Second Years rested in the two of them. All was quiet around the room when Tobias and Kenzi stood up and made their way forward to the arena. Even though seconds before Tobias gave her that warm statement of luck, Kenzi could barely pull her eyes up to the boy. This was her friend! It was almost as bad as fighting Georgia! Almost. Georgia would not have went easy on her whatsoever.

Suddenly, a sharp tinge of realization hit her stomach like white fire, finally causing her to pull her eyes up from the plain wooden floor and up to the great distance between she and her friend. Kenzi, standing placidly with her fingers near her satchel, realized that Tobais was not going to go easy on her either. He had never been the type to treat her like she was handicap or incapable of fighting, even though the two of them have never sparred before. Still, she could tell just by the way he was holding his spear that he was ready for one fight, win or lose.

Kenzi adjusted her glasses, deciding not to say anything. If she did, her anxiety may have snaked back up into her throat, causing her to forfeit then and there. But no. She couldn't do that. Not when there was so many people watching her. Not after seeing Georgia get kicked across the ground by Tatsukie like she was a stray piece of litter. Most importantly, Tobias would not forgive her for showing cowardice. That just wasn't her nature.

WREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Kenzi didn't waste a second, lowering her body like she was bowing to meet someone and taking off in a run. If one was close enough, one could even see tufts of dust and dirt follow her feet. She may not have been the strongest student in the Academy, but she was probably the fastest. Kenzi zipped behind pillar after pillar, back and forth, all the while keeping her eyes focused on Tobias, his spear, and the arena. The fights were mostly about distance, range, close combat, and surprises. Kenzi would not get emotionally distracted like Georgia did and she would also not think too much like Emil. Her plan was simple: evade, attack, conclude.

Last time, Georgia made the mistake of letting Tatsukie make the first move, even while she was walking forward. Kenzi wasn't that dense. She'd take any chance she could to grab the advantage, whatever that yet may be. Sliding her fingers in her satchel as her feet tapped against the ground, Kenzi drew a shuriken and threw it directly to the left, waiting for the wind to adjust the flight pattern. Even then, she didn't pull her focus away from Tobias. He wanted all she had? Well, he was getting it.
[/DASH]

For a moment Tobias was afraid of Kenzi being unwilling to spar with him, as her eyes did not stray from the arena floor all the while that she walked to her starting position. Much to his approval, she gathered her nerve and met his gaze. Her eyes were still kind as always, but she was not going to forfeit. Good, just because they were friends did not mean they couldn't have a sparring match and it certainly didn't mean they would be giving each other any slack. Mutual respect would ensure she gave him her best. He owed her the same.

WREEEEEEEEEEEE!

The whistle blew, signaling the start of the match and in a split-second Kenzi took to using her superior speed and maneuverability. Tobias would not sit and wait to act like a target for her, however. His own speed was nothing to scoff at. His spear may have been a long weapon but it was still a fraction of the weight of Georgia's axe. He did a fairly reasonable job of making sure Kenzi always had a difficult throwing angle if nothing else. Not that it would stop her, he knew she was capable of throwing her shuriken in a way that curved their trajectory. With a glint of light shining off of polished metal and a precise movement of Kenzi's arm and wrist came her first attack.

Speak of the devil. As he predicted, Kenzi used a curved throw. Much to his surprise however, she only threw one star. Was she planning to test his reaction time? His amber eyes became focused on the flying shuriken, plotting out it's destination in his head while bringing his spear in front of his chest to intercept. With a loud KLANG of metal on metal the star bounced harmlessly to the side, but in his focus he lost track of Kenzi. Not good... next time, one eye on the shuriken and one on her. Hell, why didn't I just dodge it. It was a contest of who made the biggest mistake and Tobias had already made the first one.

Tobias found the nearest pillar and planted his back firmly against it to prevent getting flanked, his spear held angled at forty-five degrees for defense. He would need an opportunity to close the distance, break her advantage. Even if he did decide throwing his spear in a javelin like fashion was a good idea, it would only serve to disarm him. Besides, she was quick on her feet, she'd most likely dodge it. He didn't want to think about what would happen if she didn't. They were there to spar, to test each other. Not maim a friend. Readying himself with a few sharp breaths, he took his back off the wall and kept his sharp eyes peeled for any sign of Kenzi or a surprise attack.

[DASH=#006699]
Incredible. In a vast amount of seconds, the spar had already turned into an all out ramble.

Tobias matched her speed with his own; not perfect, but damn near close. He had just as much quickness as she had, but Kenzi had not scratched the surface. She knew that she was going the fastest she could, but it was not always about running. Speed was much more than that. And soon, when Tobias knocked her star to the ground like paper, Kenzi knew exactly how to show for it. A glint of amber zipped through the lens of her glasses, meaning Tobias looked away. Perfect. The moment his eyes pulled away from her, Kenzi's feet quickly skidded to a stop, before doing a side cart-wheel, landing her feet behind a barrier perfectly. A gasp or two rang out in the crowed when Tobias knocked away the star and Kenzi showed how quick she really is.

The cartwheel was the perfect way to get Kenzi out of any line of fire or contact, but she wasn't quick enough. Strands of her blue hair stuck out from the sides of the pillar. She knew Tobias had seen where she went. Kenzi blinked once behind her glasses, keeping her eyes closed for a second or two more. She was all about time and strategy: Tobias could be on her in less than 10 seconds if he wanted to, thats how fast he was. However, Kenzi could do the same in less than 5.

Kenzi didn't waste a second before she burst her entire body from behind its place in the pillar, making a bee line towards Tobias. She knew he wasn't dumb enough to just stand there and wait for her to come, but Kenzi was not stopping her momentum whatsoever, for as soon as she got close enough, she shot her right leg out to kick the edge of the spear. He was already holding it tightly in his hands so it didn't fly away, but getting close to him was the plan.

Now, all she needed was for Tobias to set the rest in motion.
[/DASH]

It didn't take Tobias long to get a glimpse of Kenzi's blue hair behind one of the other pillars. He found it strange she did not seize the opportunity to get in a surprise attack or two. She must have had a better plan in mind. This was the chance he needed, to get into melee range! Knowing better than to waste any more time, Tobias took to running in her direction. She must have either heard him coming, or her timing could not have been any better because she quickly brought herself out to face him.

Tobias braced his spear in front of him as he did for the first deflection, expecting her to throw some more shuriken his way. They never came. Instead she rushed headlong towards him. Before Tobias could even adjust his stance she was upon him, knocking the bladed end of his spear out of the way with a kick as well as throwing him off balance. Out of a solid stance and vulnerable, Tobias used the momentum of Kenzi's kick to plant his spear into the floor and stop himself from falling over. Before she could press further on with that advantage Tobias pushed off the ground with his legs, using his spear to lift himself up with his arms as well and vaulted backwards for some breathing room.

Oddly enough for a melee weapon, his spear did have a minimum effective range, especially against such a quick opponent. As long as he wasn't going to impale someone on the bladed head, which he didn't plan on doing, the best he would be able to do was shove her away or protect himself from her attacks. It was smart of Kenzi to try exploiting that. Her shuriken wouldn't have any sufficient weight or force to knock an opponent off their feet... so it was her best alternative.

Before she could try again, Tobias had regained his footing and he decided it was about time to go on the offensive. Once within range while still out of arms reach he swing the long metal spear in a wide arc in front of himself. This gave him two rapid swings in one attack, both with the head and butt end of the spear. If she ducked, he could easily reverse direction and aim lower. If she leaped backwards, they'd be back at square one.

[DASH=#006699]
Kenzi quickly attempted to duck from the next attack without thinking. There was something about Tobias and his spear that got her on edge. She didn't quite know what it was at the moment, but whatever managed to slip into her mind made Kenzi light on her toes, even lighter than she normally was. The spear was longer up close than it was far away. She should have known as much since she examined it herself during Arms History. Tobias even let her hold the thing to test the depth, weight, and anything else she could have determined by merely holding the weapon! All of a sudden, all of those facts flew out of her when she slid her body to the side to avoid the tip of the spear...

...getting butted hard in the shoulder at the next attack.

Instead of feeling pain, Kenzi felt adrenaline course through her veins, so scared that it may have been the tip instead, slicing straight through her skin. A vibration ran through her shoulder, hanging her arm loosely in a momentary paralysis. Still, she had one more arm and two feet and she was going to use them. A tiny grunt of pain came out of her lips before she bent down on her knees to avoid any more swipes, trying hard to kick Tobias off of his feet. He was too fast, however. Kenzi was just as fast but disoriented. Something about the spear. There was something about the spear...

Tobias went on the offensive again and Kenzi had no other choice but to will her arm to move, grabbing three shuriken from her stash and tossing them directly at him. Fast or not, he had to knock them away at some point. Kenzi's blue eyes burned with determination and consistency. Georgia had said she wanted the Second Years to win this year, and it didn't matter one way or another whether she or Tobias won this very match. Kenzi had something to prove. She needed to show everyone that she was not a pushover. That just because she was sweet and kind did not mean she was capable of being brutal and quick. Somehow, she knew Tobais knew that.

That's when it hit her.

Tobias wasn't holding back! That spear could really kill her! Somehow...it made Kenzi smile as she jumped to the side to grab more shurikens. Her lips pulled into a smile that spoke volumes. This was the challenge she was looking for. With that, Kenzi went all out on her attack, rushing him with shurikens in her hand and a glint in her eye.
[/DASH]

There was a moment where Tobias felt like he gained enough ground in the fight to win and knock Kenzi off of her feet. He should have known better. One solid strike with the butt end of his spear wouldn't be enough to slow her down for long. She continued to fight back, throwing more of her shuriken with her unharmed arm while managing to dodge the rest of Tobias' swings. Kenzi was obviously determined to do her best. That made Tobias smile, it was making him try as hard as he ever had in this class.

A flash of light and Tobias knew more shuriken were on their way. Four, from the looks of it. It forced him to stop chasing Kenzi to protect himself. KLANG - TING! The first two were deflected, the two that followed were too close together, he'd have to evade them. With a tumble the thrown stars flew harmlessly past where he had been standing a moment ago. Tobias felt as though the immediate danger had passed, spotting Kenzi still moving swiftly and gracefully around him. That was until he noticed another volley of shuriken already heading his way. It was too late to act, they met their mark and Tobias felt a stinging pain in his ribs and shoulder.

Staggering backwards for a moment, he instinctively looked down to see that while the pain to his ribs was a non-serious cut, the shuriken that had hit him in the shoulder was still in place. It was another mistake, letting Kenzi get close again. With what had to have been all of her speed she closed the distance. Kenzi's best turned out to be even better than Tobias expected. After seeing this, he wondered if he had ever truly seen her spar seriously. That, or she had improved greatly over the break between school years.

Kenzi was upon him and if he didn't do something the force of her attack would surely send him flying off his feet. With a little luck and quick thinking Tobias sidestepped her at the last second, making her having to stop her own momentum rather than crashing it into him. She came to a stop with a skid, whipping around and reaching into her stash of shuriken while Tobias took a turn to rush her, spear raised.

WRRREEEEEEEEEE!!

The whistle? Kenzi and Tobias looked at each other in confusion, then to Konome Sensei in unison. Why had she stopped the fight? Konome Sensei wore the same serious expression as always, only moving to make a guesture towards Kenzi's feet and the two of them saw it at the same time. Kenzi had gone out of bounds after missing with that running attempt to knock Tobias off his feet. Tobias could hardly believe it! He looked up at Kenzi, who was still looking at her foot in disbelief and what he sensed was disappointment. Their spar was over, though surely in a way neither of them wanted it to end. Not sure what else to do, Tobias reached up for the star that was still in his shoulder, gritting his teeth in pain and wincing after a harsh tug removed it from his flesh. His wounds were superficial but it would be hard to tell by glancing at him. His white shirt was turning a deep red where the shuriken made contact.

Anthony had been watching the fight the entire time and was quite surprised at how long it took for it to finish. The swift movements of both the candidates were rather amazing as well. They had both seemed to be on equal footing despite the weapon differences and different advantages and disadvantages. Kenzi was faster than anyone he had seen yet and threw her shuriken with such precision and speed that it made him second guess if he could block them himself if the time came. Tobias was rather strong and fast with great reflexes for blocking or dodging. His hits seemed to pack quite a punch as well, combined with the range and coverage of a spear, it all came down to a lethal combination.

When the whistle was blown Anthony was somewhat dissapointed that the teacher had set up a boundaries. They were both in such a heated battle that Kenzi had lost her surroundings and became entranced, the best kind of fighting. Anthony could only smile and wait for them as they came back.

"You both did amazing out there. I'd say you were on even grounds if it weren't for that boundary."

He chuckled and gave them both a pat on the back before waiting for the next group of opponents.

Kenzi was quite fast, speed coupled with shuriken and throwing stars seemed complimentary of each other, being able to evade attacks to get distance enough to make the throwing weapons effective. At first her speed worried him and Brant started thinking of ways to counter her weapon choice and movements. Tobias was also fast but speed seemed to be not as necessary for him since he had reach and power, he could also throw some close range moves as well. Spears, could be tricky weapons to fight against.

Both fighters were very effective with their weapons. It was an exciting fight and Brant didn't even notice how long it was going for until Kenzi stepped out of bounds, which was quite a disappointing and abrupt end. Brant wasn't even aware there had been boundaries but he guessed it was all up to Konome and whatever she decided to change, he wondered what other rules she may throw out there. From what he could tell of her it may be very interesting or stressful rule changes.

Anyways, Kenzi was out and Tobias had won. Time for the next fight.

[DASH=#006699]
The whistle was a mile long in her head. It played over and over again until Kenzi finally determined that it only shrilled once. She quirked her head up to Tobias who had also stopped in mid step like she had. The two shared a strange eye contact, like they had both been away from their bodies and had just gotten back to reality. Her glasses, slightly askew, glinted off of the light one of her shuriken's blazed from his shoulder. Even then, Tobias wasn't down and neither was she. So, why did Konome...? Kenzi pulled herself away from Tobias and to the the teacher that was standing listlessly where she was stationed. The tall lady in the black trench coat, playing martyr and Queen during that class. There was no expression to be found in her eyes, even when she pointed down towards the ground around Kenzi and Tobias. Confused, she looked down and saw her black and blue tennis shoe.

It was barely an inch behind the bold, solid white line.

"What?! Are you kidding me!?" Kenzi could hear Georgia bellowing in disgust from a mile away. Well, at least someone was back to normal. It was hard for her to hide the sudden surprise and disbelief from her face as she looked back at Tobias. He seemed to be sailing the same boat, for he wore an identical expression to hers. The two of them stood there for a good minute until Konome's voice cut across the arena.

"Tobias is the victor due to boundary disqualification. Bummer." Kenzi looked back up at the teacher and smiled, even though Georgia could still be heard across the feild, shouting in frustration. Konome and Kenzi caught eyes and, just maybe, Kenzi could have sworn she caught her lips lifting in the slightest. Tobais yanked out her shuriken from his shoulder and made his way back to where the Second Years stood. They all wore either proud expressions or disappointed ones. Whatever the matter, Kenzi nudged Tobais in his unharmed shoulder.

"Did I do good?"she whispered, even after she felt her stomach doing leaps and twirls in reminiscing of the fight.

"Second Years are done so now I'm going to pull it on the First Years this time, even though we only have two. For those just joining AoA, you see how we work around here. Be careful, don't lose your temper, and fight it out. First to fall to the ground or step out of bounds, loses. Understood?" Her voice cut across the quite hall, not bothering to wait on a response.

"Brant. Adam. To the middle and on my whistle only."she said, returning the whistle back to her slightly parted lips.

About time. My scalp- knife, hungers for blood... And so I...

Adam, while not being well-suited to combat, did know a thing or two about the human body. He knew where to cut, from what angle, whether he should stab or slice, and how hard was necessary. He had the brains, sure - but could he pull it off? With only a slight degree of nervousness visible in his actions - though only enough to make him seem vaguely human - he stepped into the middle, toying with his knife. To most, he looked as if he was simply twirling a knife round his fingers, keeping his dexterity in check - or just showing off. To the more discerning, they would see the desperation with which he fiddled with it, and the minute slips he made at rare intervals. They would be able to tell he didn't believe he could win - they would be able to see what a jittery mess he really felt like. But, he still remained focussed, despite what he thought he could and couldn't do. He still had to fight, whether winning was possible or not. He had to at least draw some blood from Brant, possibly leave him a bit shaken. His reputation as a sadistic body-mutilator depended on it.
For once, his mind remained stable. Albeit, in a loose sense of the word, but stable nonetheless.

Kurt stood impatiently, still standing against the wall, swing his chain a bit faster with each impending second. "Konome, I'm itching to fight!" he shouted. Damn. Why did the newbies always go first. He brushed his hand against a scar on his cheek. He brought his chain to a stop before, placing it back in his stachel.

[Sorry for short post]

Oh, well it looked like it was time for the first years. As he got up from his seated position on the ground, Brant glanced over Adam. All he had was a knife but that meant he would probably have more mobility than he would with his mace and shield. When Brant straightened up, his mouth twisted into a smirk and his body projected a sense of overconfidence as he unstrapped his shield and left it laying where he had been sitting. With a cocky jounce he stepped into the center of the room and held his mace with both hands in a position ready to swing his hardest.

As the final fight of the second years ended, in a disqualification no less, Lance really saw no reason t pay any further attention. He was much more interested in which of his fellow Elites he would fight today. As they had spent the last two years honing their skills and showing their own quirks in battle, Elites usually at least had an idea of how to handle each other. Which, of course, made the battles much, much more interesting.

With the spar over by ring out, there wasn't anything left for Tobias or Kenzi to do out in the arena. He would need to treat his injuries, but that could wait to get off the sparring grounds. With spear in hand he walked back to where his fellow Second Years stood, receiving a pat on the back and compliments on the fight from Anthony. The new student, first to offer his thoughts. Well, now that Tobias thought about it, Georgia did yell over the decision to end the match... but that wasn't quite the same thing. Tobias offered his thanks for the compliment and proceeded past him, as well as many of the others so that he could set his spear down and get to work on bandaging himself.

Not two seconds after leaning his weapon against the far wall, he received a nudge to his unharmed shoulder. "Hmm?" he hummed out the question, turning his head and seeing that Kenzi had caught up with him. She looked alright, heck better than alright about the way their spar had ended now that she was off the field. "Oh, hey." he greeted her, a friendly smile forming. Things were back to normal.

"Did I do good?" she asked of him, something the look in her eyes told Tobias she already knew.

"Yeah. You did great." he responded with a nod and an even wider smile. "I'll bet after that, the other students will treat you with a lot more respect." he assured her. Tobias was included in that. He may have never treated her as poorly as some others, but he still gained more respect for her talent.

Konome Sensei gathered the attention of the room to announce that the Second Years were done and that it was now time for the First Years to show what they were capable of. With his shirt already ruined and soaking up blood, Tobias grabbed hold of his sleeve and tore off a long strip. "Go catch the two First Years," he told Kenzi while tilting his head towards the others. "I'll join everyone after I get this taken care of."
