[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village, Haschou Village Central ]

He inspected the buildings.
He gazed at the far away mountains.
He enjoyed the lack of rude nobles and servants

He watched villagers go on about their daily lives. Those seemingly not bothered with the coup going on nearby. He was impressed of it. Despite it effecting the top people of the village. The manual labour would not do itself. Truly, who cared what oppressor would be at the top when they were all the same?

He would come back later, when this whole thing had blown over.

Yes, The Pirate King would respect himself. And not stick around to people who did not view him as a person.

The Pirate King was independent, and he was worth it!

Musing to himself, he wandered the centre of Haschou. The market was busy, but the signs of the tourist season being near it's conclusion was clear. Some travelling merchants had already began to store away the least important things. Items that were not sold often and such.

Saburo blew out his cheeks. If he tried to forget his current situation. The ball of pure stress inside him faded a small amount. And he would take that!

He was in his own world. Let the others solve this puzzle. He was just a-

The hairs on his neck stood up.

Squish

No.

"Sa~bu~ro~" A voice breathed into his ear.

Nonono.

"How I've missed you!" He could feel the frantic beating of her heart against his back.

Saburo laughed. It was manic laughter. One given from such delerious displeasure felt by men who has put their house on a bad bet. He had tried to cover this girl up in his mind. He could in someway accept what had happened to him as really bad luck. But this girl pushed that past into complete and deliberate lunacy.

He wanted to break into a full sprint and keep running till he reached the edge of the world. But he knew it was pointless.

"Bubblegum." Saburo uttered through his teeth. "W-What brings you here. I didn't know you would go to the effort of finding me in the neithare as well." Saburo patted her on the shoulder lightly in some vain attempt to get her off him. It required some strange angles.

"How...persistent."

Rumiko_Ico.jpg

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Interior]

Taking the impact head on, Rumiko is forced to pause briefly, though it seemed to only be partly from the impact as her eyes meet his and then the sword. Pausing to consider where she was and at least the brief truth of his fist she maintains her guard but suddenly calms herself, taking in a couple deep breaths, her right hand shakes briefly as if to be in the practice of writing something or another as she stares at Him.

"You should have made use of that sword.. The fact you haven't says much..."

Narrowing her eyes, he had passed a test, though not one the Miko had planned. With her left hand ready for a palm thrust, the blue ki gathers around her form and as suddenly she hops a few steps back. Unsure of what to say or his intentions there was put one question and remark she could think of in the moment.

"You've gotten stronger... Why are you in this, place?" More importantly why was he in here and just what was he in the three years, a lowly bandit that he was so many years ago would not have been given free reign of the Castle and if he were with the coup forces he wouldn't have been hiding in here. A fact she didn't care to point out as she studied him, it would only serve to bring up old wounds, and right now she still had a castle to help clear.

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Interior]

As Kuroi felt his palm make impact and the current of wind expel from his hand, his irritated scowl calmed. When last the two saw each other, he was no match for her. He hardly knew how to swing a sword and only half the time did he possess the will to. Now was different. He was stronger, faster, more in tune with the element of Wind. With this, he could even the odds against her brutish strength.

Turning his gaze to look upwards in order to analyze the effects of his attack, he was met with the same cold gaze that he remembered.

Acquiring a face of confusion and shock, it was the expression of someone motioning to sit down only to realize far too late that no seat sat there. Actually, it was more akin to going to sit down, only for there to be a rattlesnake—no, for the seat to have been an ogre's toothpick just about to be used. Sure he didn't think she would have died from a single move, but no effect?!

Staring up at Rumiko, his face flashed the same worry that he showed three years ago. He knew what would happen next. Either he would be getting real-intimate with that table he was sitting on, or his torso would very quickly lose a third of its mass. But then, when he expected her to counter and saw her motion to, she backed away.

Once again gaining a look of confusion at her actions, Rumiko's word's brought irritation to this already intimidating situation. The fact he hadn't used the sword said much? What? Was she insinuating that he, either intentionally or subconsciously, held back because of her? No, that—What a foolish assumption. That would've just been the most obvious thing! Right! So, he thought going with something less predictable would've gotten more effects! Obviously!

Gritting his teeth, Kuroi remained at the ready. Just because her posture appeared passive didn't mean that couldn't change at the drop of a hat. When it came to physique, she was a demon, after all.

"Tch... Why don't you answer that yourself? Still following me after all these years? You're a bit too clingy, sis." The tone he took with her held a trace of venom. Who could know why. "If you're just scared I came to rob some farmer, then screw off. I'm a participant in the tournament—Was... I dunno what the hell all this is."

Kei Daidouji, #00FFFF
Kei_Ico.jpg

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Maplegrounds Entrance]

Tsubaki played along nicely. He was a bit rusty at this -and he was a bit tired- but people could be fooled into pity if he played his cards right. It was a good warmup for later. All he needed was a little luck and maybe a little pity. The response was a bit more wordy than he thought it would be, but ultimately they got the food they needed. The noble girl was well-read. Well, whatever. She still gave up the food and that meant that they could eat while waiting for the signal.

"Yeah, mom and dad used to travel a bunch."
Kei looked pained, feigning as if he had relived a bad memory. "B-but they adored the name they heard."

Well, they got the stupid birds finally. What a huge distraction. Once back at the group, Kei unloaded his burden of bird upon whoever was closest and walked off towards the castle. It was going to be a long wait, it seemed.

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Interior]

Yay for the Miko Battering Ram. This made life much, much easier. No gate knocking or anything, they could just let her go at it. Now...

"I'm pleased to hear that you've decided to assist us. I take that none of you are hurt?"

"You're kidding me. Well, I guess the human torch is joining us today, everyone."

"Don't be mean she's trying really hard."

"Ah, the brave boy." Kei said with disdain. "What a coward."

The boy behind Cirika gripped his training sword tighter. He grit his teeth and tried not to look like he was going to deck the rude older boy. Maybe that'd would knock some politeness into him.

The conversation was interrupted by Rumiko's shout of surprise. Kei braced himself for action, drawing a dagger instantly, on edge. It seemed as though one of the guard knew Rumiko personally and she knew him. Which was... well it wasn't possible.

"I hate to interrupt this reunion... but we kinda sorta have more important matters to deal with. Like the whole coup situation going on? If he's coming with us, just grab him and go. If not we knock him out and deal with him later. Your choice, Rumiko."

What a pain.

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Interior]

Balling her fist up and starting to walk forward, those remarks had struck a nerve it seemed in some manner. "I haven't looked for you at all these last Three years. I had hoped you returned home and renounced your old ways. And yes I'm in much the same situation, though I have been looking for you during this, to see if you had changed and if old spirits could be laid to rest..." Pondering if she had to correct that mistake, or just what or why he was here, motioning with her right hand once more Rumiko is stopped mid sentence by a friendly reminder by Kei.

While she had lots of questions and even pondered hitting him back for knocking the wind out of her a bit, it was fair game from swatting him all those years ago. "...what he does is up to him."

Letting her gaze soften a bit towards Kuroi, the Miko steps ever so slightly closer talking in a low tone. "We need to have a long talk, about this and other things, for now we are trying to save this castle.. Brother."

Now speaking louder to be sure Kei could hear, Rumiko continues, pointing her thumb with a poking gesture towards the apparent guardsman.

"His name is Kuroi. Anything more than that will come from him or we'll go over later."

Stepping away once more, Rumiko makes way for the front door, to see what the group would be up to, or how her brother would react to her words at least, though for now it wasn't the time to talk, least not to answer both of their questions.

Taking a step back from Saburo, Bubblegum pondered for a moment, before nodding. For now, she'd play along, her Nightmare-producing brain wouldn't even know what hit it once she was done with... herself...!?

"I told you, Saburo! I'd find you, always and ever. Not even death will do us apart." Did she tell him? Not like it mattered.

"Now that we're reunited there is nothing that can stop us!" She nodded to him, before pointing at the sky. Ah, she felt truly so happy right now. " We're unbeatable. Undefeatable! Unkillable! Inseparable! And we gonna kick this places booty real good. Right?"

"Return home? Wait, you would've just left me alone, trusting me? What would you have done if everyone in that camp said Oh yes, we're very sorry and won't do it again? Just leave?!" Kuroi honestly didn't get the woman. She had shown herself to be monstrous and unforgiving but also somehow naive and merciful? Complete contradictions in the boy's mind. "I've changed, in the sense I'm not that weak little kid who's just going to lay over and die."

Readying himself again, the miko seemed preparing to make a move, one he was all too prepared to not get hit by. He knew what might happen if he didn't evade successfully, the horrid crunching of bone and splattering of flesh sounding in his mind from back then. However, just as Rumiko grew close, someone intervened.

Staring off with a blank expression. Was he a companion of hers? "...Who's the pretty-boy?"

Kuroi ignored the egging on from him. The boy knew though, one day that man would piss the miko off, and on that day, he would enjoy himself watching him get chased and batted around.

Hearing what Rumiko spoke up close, Kuroi narrowed him, lightly huffing before sheathing his blade at his hip.

"Long as a talk is all it is, fine. Whatever. After all this, somebody better tell me what the hell is going on, though!" Following after them to the door, Rumiko didn't seem to be trying to kill him, at the moment, and apparently she had allies, which was worse news for him if he decided to pick a fight. It was better to have a truce until they all at least knew what was happening. Besides, backstabbing wasn't her style. "So either of you wanna tell me what this coup is about and what the plan is?"

@Runara

"You really went quite far with this stupid plan to irk me, Gaijin. Fall into the Neithare."

Gyoku answered with a harsh refusal to cooperate.
It wasn't a surprise though. Given how rude Runara had been with her, she didn't want to entertain any sort of conversation.

From aside though, a worried look on Cirika's face seemed to tell something else.
She was worried over something. Spurned from Runara's words, she answered the doven.

"...It's my family that's been trapped here. I will save them and put the traitors to the sword. It's my duty to see that through." Cirika said. Her tone made it sound like that like in saying that, she had decided upon something. Anzai could understand though. What the Doven had said was probably correct. It was likely that the person behind this coup was someone who was supposed be serving under the Ikkikari. Someone possibly close to them even.

This coup was an act of treachery. The only punishment for treachery was death.
His sister was coming to the grips of that likely outcome.

What followed. A reunion of sorts. Between Cirika and Gyoku, they understood that Rumiko was the sister of one of the guards. The exchange between the siblings was loaded. However, it had to be kept short and sorted out for later.

"Lady Cirika. The young lord...."

Gyoku said, looking to Anzai.

"Lord Anzai, it is important that you not be put into harms way. One of the shadows will escort you out."

@Karyra

Cirika took took her brothers hand and squeezed it.
He was gently pushed into one of the Loyal shadows who whisked him away from the castle.

"Everyone!" Cirika yelled out as she drew a blade. "Take the castle and find the Daimyou! No mercy to anyone who resists!"

The guards replied with 'aye'. And pressed further into the keep.

Cirika Ikkikari - #808080
Cirika_Ico.jpg

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Daimyou's Suite]

The few coup members in the castle either retreated further into the castle or were cut down. None of them surrendered - for they knew that the very act of supporting the coup guaranteed a death sentence. Each room in the castle was barged into. Each one with either a cowering noble taken hostage or traitor in hiding. However, the sweeps of these rooms did not yield the Daimyou and his wife.

Eventually though, Cirika and the travelers came upon a curious scene. She'd find more than just her parents there.

It was in one of the upper rooms of the Keep. The Daimyou's own suite, where they came upon the shadows and the last group of traitors staring one another down. At the end of the room were the nobles - including the Daimyou, tied up. What was supposed be a swift victory had turned into an intense stare down.

"Why... Father is right over there!"
"Hold it Lady Cirika! There is likely a reason why they didn't just charge in..."

One of the Loyal Shadows - the ranking one that lead this team tasked to free the Daimyou, nodded. He was trying to signal to Gyoku. Seeming to try to wave them... away? For Cirika however, with her mother and father just in reach, Cirika moved into the room, and yelled out to the culprits of the coup that remained.

"Your revolt is over! Lay down your arms and surrender!"

The coup members laughed at her.
This perturbed Cirika. Genuinely surprised.

"W-what's wrong?"

"Ah... Lady Cirika. We were hoping that you'd come join us here with your parents. It's very convenient that you've walked right up to us."

The voice was familiar to her.
As was the person who spoke. But, even after seeing and hearing them, Cirika couldn't quite accept who it was.

"Lady Moriya. You've seemed to have freed yourself from the ropes that the others are tied in."

Cirika sternly addressed the one noble who was freely walking in that side of the room. An elegant looking lady wearing a foreign scarf over her otherwise traditional Kimono. This was Kiri's mother. The mother of the very same girl the travelers had been parlaying with just earlier. Kiri's own own family then, was involved in this coup.

"Lady Moriya! Lady Kiri was sincerely worried about your well being after finding out you were trapped in the castle! But, you can't be saying that you're involved in it?"

Lady Moriya gave a genteel nod.

"It seems the case, I'm afraid."

Instantly, Gyoku remembered the words that the doven had said earlier.

"You ear'd whore! You knew about this the entire time!?"

Cirika gasped.
Yes. Just a moment ago, the thing that Runara said. It made it sound like Runara was asking if she would support either the Ikkikari or the Moriya Family she served when it came down to it.

But then... where did Gyoku's loyalty lie, then?
Cirika looked to the shadow, expectantly.

Gyoku responded in kind. Answer that question of loyalty through her next action. She stood at the ready with her blade.

"...Lady Katsura. If you continue this then Lord Moriya would be very disappointed to hear of your death. Surrender, and put an end to any more of this pointless bloodshed."

Cirika breathed out in relief.

"Oh Gyoku..." Lady Moriya began. "You speak on the assumption that you have the overwhelming advantage here. But, the truth is quite the opposite. YFor you see, you are mistaken. The moment you all entered this room you unwittingly entered into a trap."

Hearing her words, Cirika looked around the room, frantically. Trying to spot the 'trap'.
In doing so, she did not find any trap. But she did notice one familiar noble that wasn't supposed be here.

"K....Kiri?"

Over there, in the corner under guard, was Kiri Moriya.
She was seated behind a small wall of pillows taken from rooms in the Keep. Behind her was a solid stone wall. This was was a core supporting pillar of hardened earth that kept the Keep standing.

"Just as I thought then. So, Lady Kiri is also..."

Gyoku began. However, she was immediately interrupted.

"Lady Moriya! You will set my family, the other hostages, and Kiri free at once!"

Lady Moriya lightly giggled at Cirika's dramaticism.
"My Kiriha is on my side. That much should be obvious, right?"

"Lady Moriya! I won't permit you to drag Lady Kiri into this nonsense!"

"You are mistaken, Gyoku! Kiri decided to help me so she could become a princess like she's supposed be! She's the cornerstone of my trap! And you've all let yourselves into it the moment you stepped into the castle!"

"Kiri! Please tell me she's lying!"
"Kiri...!"

"You should be more concerned about yourself Lady Cirika. You see, note that my Kiriha has proficiency in Earth Force. You know that just by crumbing that wall behind her, she can make the entire castle come crashing down, with you in it!"

"You flatter your own intelligence, Lady Moriya!"

"I do! You'have come in here thinking that you could brute force your way to ending this little coup. But in doing so, you made yourself and everyone you brought into here into a hostage. If you start to attack us, then we'll have no choice but to take you - the castle, and everyone else in it with us!"

The young injured noble looked back to Kiri, now on the other side of the lines.

@Luma

"Kiri... you can't be seriously going along with this, I refuse to believe it!"

Just like the shadows that were already there when they arrived. They were at a stalemate.
If they directly attacked like this, then Lady Moriya threatened to have her daughter bring down the keep.
But, that would only work if Kiri went along with it. Did she really support her mother that far, like Lady Moriya was saying?

Giving Cirika up here also seemed like it would not be a good idea. With the entire family here - save Anzai - they would likely be killed in order to prevent them from returning to power. Anzai, the young boy, had no chance to take back power like Cirika would otherwise be able to potentially do.

A peaceful resolution was still there.
And it lay with the nap-loving girl across the room.

"...Lady Moriya! Even you must know this is foolish! Do you really want to... do you really want to be responsible for killing everyone in the castle!?"

@_Everyone

"You folk. You were the ones who were playing around with Kiriha earlier today, right? Let's strike a deal."
"Tie up Lady Cirika and leave her here, with us. If you do that and leave the castle without attacking us, then you'll be allowed to safely leave."

"You travelers have no collateral in this besides your lives. Do this little thing and you'll be able to leave with your lives! Choose!"

Cirika and Goyku turned to the travelers. They were weary, but also completely unsure of what the travelers intended to do here. Right now, the travelers were the most numerous of the two sides. It looked like they could easily overpower either side with force alone.

"We can... talk this out. No one else needs to get hurt."
"Didn't you tell your guards to cut down anyone who resisted, Lady Cirika? You are a hypocrite!"
"Everyone. Please. Nobody else needs to get hurt. So, please...."\
"Hypocrite Princess!"

The travelers stared down a hard situation. They were presented with an ultimatum of sorts from Lady Moriya. if they surrendered over Lady Cirika, they would live. Simple as that. Without a doubt, though, that would lead to a bad end. The clock would be turned back, and the pieces would inevitably return to the beginning. Their troubles here would only yield the knowledge of this outcome.

Cirika was certainly naive.
It was no surprise then, that the original one died in the real world so suddenly.

But, on the other side of that room was a girl who was supposed be this one's friend. Right now, they were watching a so called friendship come to an end in a particularly cruel and bitter way. In a way, a lot like how the Original Cirika's life ended. In betrayal.

This was all starting to leave a nasty taste in their mouth.

They could turn it around.
As bad as things were now, if they could turn it around, and avoid the bitter cycle of restarting from death.
But, it had to begin here. It had to begin with getting Kiri back on Cirika's side to avoid another flavor of the same tragedy from occurring again.

This hopeless princess really did need the help of those travelers indeed.

Pausing to turn back to him, or rather his remark, she looks blankly. "I would have observed. If you had changed, yes, I would have left you alone and had they put down their arms I would have allowed those that showed any good to live. As I said we will speak of this later..and it shall be a long talk I feel.. As to the.. pretty boy, his name is Kei Daidouji, as to the Coup, no, I don't know, we are following two of the women out there..just follow our lead."

If Kuroi liked it or not, now wasn't the time to explain things, not that any of them knew enough to explain.

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Daimyou's Suite]

Listening to the prattling on, the intrigues, betrayals and petty politics, one thing struck the Miko oddly.. Just where was her Husband, never mind how gaudily dressed the woman was, still this even had angered the Priestess something fierce, without her notebook to scribble things in Rumiko does the next natural thing, digging into one of the supporting drywalls, until it starts to crack and break.. Pressing in on the support pillar the Miko gives a Silent Warning as if to say;

No you don't kill us all, I kill us all.

Or maybe she just did not like the wall, either way. "WHAT IN THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ALL OF YOU!?"

"Your people are starving and Dying! Wolves are rampaging your lands, a Gods Damned Dragon was plaguing your lands! And you would fight over a Stupid Wooden Castle who's Gate I knocked down? For what?! A CHAIR?! Overseeing a land of Poverty starved Skeletons!?

AND THEN YOU DARE THREATEN US, YOURSELF AND YOUR DAUGHTER TO HAVE IT!? And here I thought your Husband was a piece of work, no he did his job! The guardsmen would have been useful on the wolves, but nooooo let's fight and kill one another! Fucking Brilliant! This is why the Temples have to care for the people, why WE had to kill the bandits and things you can scarcely imagine! As you Nobles are too stupid and selfish to do the job! It's why we had to kill your damned Dragon while you sat here and plotted too afraid to go into your own damn forest! But what do you care!? You who are Born to Rule while rarely stepping out to see how your people live! You Forget that to Rule is to Serve!

Have some Pride for your stations! Would your Ancestors be proud of you now!? What of you idiots supporting her!? Ohhh she's just threatening to kill us all now! She won't betray us later! No wonder snake oil sells well!"

Punching her fist into the wall this time, Rumiko glares directly at the woman. "Stop your stupid revolt now, or I'll make good on your threat, and you, stop killing everyone in this! If we can spare them and lock her up then no one else needs to die!"

Pointing at the Lady and the Cirika, the Miko had had more than enough of their political intrigues.

"Sleepy head, I don't know you and I'm not pretending that I do, but you do know what she'll do to your friend and you seen how your people have already ruled these lands.. You were out there with us and you helped even if just a little against that dragon, be your own person. We all must do what we must... I just ask leniency be shown to those in this coup Lady Cirika.. Enough people have died this day."

Turning her attention back towards the would be Queen and all others in the room, the Miko has a bit of a dangerous glint to her eye, at odds with her normally more kind and Clerical way of being and seemingly holding with her mention of being an Exterminator.

"I don't take kindly to being threatened. As my master said, When the devil comes a knock'n, look him square in the eye, you've got faith like a mountain and you won't let it die."

Even if it would take her some time, the Miko seems to have snapped into some sort of fanatical zealotry, with her normally blue aura radiating a bit of crimson red, as if to remark on the words of her brother so long ago, she was something of a Demon that had at least picked her side in all of this and one who actually seemed very willing to attempt dropping the castle on them all. While being highly insolent to the nobles her words did ring a sort of angry truth born of Righteousness.

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Gate]

Runara wasn't too pleased to hear that sort of answer from Gyoku. It was no surprise, both of them have been going at it with each other since they've met. She would then turn her gaze towards Cirika, who perhaps catches on on what she have said about loyalty and treachery. Strong words, yet will she really do it when it comes to that?

But there's still some worry of Gyoku's alignment when it comes to that moment, as Runara knows she have taken care of Kiri. Who is a part of the Moriya family who served under Ikkikari. If the history were to be believed, Runara suspected Kiri's family of being the one behind the coup. That is perhaps the reasoning behind her question. Gyoku was loyal to the Moriya, would she break her loyalty if it came to that moment?

Looking around, it seemed to be that there was a reunion of some sort between Rumiko and a guard who is none other than her brother. To Runara's surprise, Rumiko's brother doesn't look like a hulking monster, very unlike Rumiko. While she loved to join in the conversation in their reunion, now would not be the time, she would ignore their reunion for the time being and follow Cirika to retake the castle.

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Daimyou's Suite]

Sweeping the castle from floor to floor, they cut down traitorous nobles, pushed them more and more into the corner. While saving some of the loyal vassals.

Upon entering the Daimyou's suite. One of the Shadows that were tasked to save the Daimyou waved them... away? A bad feeling came through her thoughts, as Cirika moved forward she wanted to stop her from going further in but she couldn't.

Cirika would then threaten the coup members, only to be responded with laughters. It have seemed they've entered the trap set by the traitorous nobles. And the one who stepped up to talk with Cirika is none other than... Kiri's mother, the Lady of the Moriya family. And as Runara suspected, she had a part of this coup.

She would turn her attention towards Gyoku who lashed out at her after the revelation. Took her long enough to realize this coup plan couldn't be achieved without a work of someone from the inside. She had no intention of berating Gyoku, but with this revelation, comes a question. "I don't want to claim that I know this the entire time, but the more important question is... Which side will you choose?" Runara looked expectantly, confident that she will make the right choice either way.

And she chose to side with Cirika. It was then revealed that the trap that the group were about to be caught in, was none other than Kiri. But would she help her mother this much?

And then, Lady Moriya presents an ultimatum to the party. To surrender Cirika and leave without any bloodshed on their end, or to stay and die together. Of course, from one princess to another, Runara couldn't leave Cirika. No, she couldn't leave Kiri more than Cirika. She's not the kind of person who'd dump her friends for a position. Would she be that selfish for power? No...

She would then listened to the Miko's outrage. Pointing out all her hatred for nobles, no, that's not how to turn this thing around for the better.

". . . Is this what you really wanted Kiri?" The first question that came from Runara's mouth as she stepped forward. "Knowing you, you wouldn't dump your friends for this position... No? I know you're not that kind of person." She moved closer towards Kiri. "What do you truly wish for?" She asked once again, in a kind yet rather heavy tone. She extend her arms, as if she welcomed her for a hug. "You could just whisper it to me should you afraid of revealing it to everyone..."

Clicking his tongue, none of this made any damn sense. Not even Rumiko knew what was going on apparently, yet still, they were somehow supposed to just follow some people around?

"Ridiculous... You don't even know what's happening and you're following someone around trying to play the hero," Kuroi scoffed, though he was more complaining to himself than outright ridiculing his sister. Not that she didn't deserve the ridicule for this. Though she was right on one thing, their talk could wait for late, hopefully after he got some answer's on whatever this mess was.

Hearing a young woman call to them all, the bandit turned vagabond let out a sigh and followed behind the group, not very happy he was now fighting for a cause he knew not of.

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Daimyou's Suite]

Reaching what appeared to be the most lavish room in the castle, tensions were high between the coup assailants, defenders, as well as the group Kuroi was now apart of. Grim, pained and angry expressions littered the individuals in the area. The young highwayman however, simply looked blank, staring around as if he had little clue what was happening.

Of course, he had eyes and ears. He knew who was trying to defend the castle, who was trying to take it, someone betrayed someone else, but from the window viewed by an outsider, it didn't help determine an opinion nor did the event rock his emotions as it did to those more involved. The swordmistress appeared distraught at the betrayal, the rebels were giving the typical villain speech, and even his own sister was countering their threat of mass suicide with her own.

Narrowing his eyes in irritation, Kuroi looked to his elder sibling, waiting with aggravated breath for her to finish her own little speech.

"Yeah, could you come up with a plan that kills the bitch threatening us instead of us?" He questioned rhetorically, seeming more annoyed than frightened by the prospect. Of course, that was just his poker face. She could kill them all.

And she'd do it too, the brute.

Next to speak was a Doven, albeit not as long-winded, and—Pause.

Staring at the woman apparently trying to make peace out of this whole shit-storm, the former criminal acquired yet another question in the midst of his confusion for the current situation.

...What the hell is she wearing?

Or perhaps, what isn't she wearing would've been the better question. A Doven dressed like a dancer strolling into a siege trying to hug everyone's problems away.

What a start to likely the most morbidly-ending joke.

Glancing back to the group, Kuroi's tired scowl dissipated at the sight of his sister seemingly transforming into the demon he remembered oh so long ago.

"Yeah... I have no idea who did what or who's right or wrong... but the ogre here will kill us all." At this point, Kuroi seemed slightly more nervous at the presence of his sibling. "Yeah... so does anyone have an actual fucking plan here?"

Kiri's gazed holes in the floor with a cold, dead stare, chin resting on her knees. One hand remained on the cold, stone wall, feeling its relative fragility against the earth-attuned power within her. When the doors finally burst open, her eyes turned up, ever so slightly.

"Now you have time for me.... haha... hah..." It was a hopeless laugh: devoid of any real humor or joy. She returned to staring down until the startling sound of cracked wall stole back her gaze.

"Stop..." she commanded weakly, to the point where it wasn't even audible. "Why...?" Kiri's mumblings were in response to Rumiko, but no immediate sense could be gleaned from them.

The guards positioned inbetween Kiri and the others immediately pointed their spears out as Runara approached. Before they could actually thrust forward however, Kiri weakly called out, "N-no... stop... let her through..." They hesitated, "...now!" The sudden outburst got through and they reluctantly stepped aside.

"I wish... I'd noticed sooner. I wish... I could've stopped all this... before so many... so many were..." Kiri squeezed her eyes shut tight for a few moments, choking something back in her throat. She paused for a long, tense moment, before she reopened them with a resolute gaze.

"Runara... I'm glad we met. If this is what it's like being a princess... I understand why you ran away." Kiri pulled her in, over the little barricade of pillows, for a light hug, petting her ears a bit. When she finally pulled away, Kiri pulled a shiny, silver, tree-shaped broach out of a hidden pocket in her shirt, placing it in Runara's hands. "For good luck," she whispered, before turning to the rest of the travelers.

"At sunset, the first day the leaves turned yellow, Ciri visited Shibuta's Lodge... just for a few minutes. If you take her and get close enough to the mountain, no one should follow you. Take her and get out of this horrible place...!"

Shooting a quick nod to Rumiko, Kiri whirled around and punched the wall, the crackings spreading and spreading, until the entire thing collapsed into pieces.

Iris Darkfield - CC #FF0080

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Daimyou's doorway]

At a glance, Runara's life as the crown princess of the Moonsky Kingdom sounds to be a very easy life. Going around doing what she wants, attending some private lectures to groom her as a potential ruler. Despite her doing rather poor on some of the class, she seems to be having it easy. She even made some friends outside the circle of noblety. With some that were perhaps left a lot to be desired, according to the Royal Guards that were tailing Runara whenever she goes out of her castle.

One of them were Iris Darkfield, it was not that she were a criminal or something. She perhaps got a bit too close to Runara, and that she don't really have any notable friends than Runara from the observation of the Royal Guards. They feared that Iris could potentially drag Runara down from doing what she were supposed to do as the crown princess...

Yet, here they are, meeting in the farmfields. To be more accurate, the farmfields currently owned by the Darkfield family. Runara, dressed properly as a princess at that time waved at Iris who were currently working at the farmfield. With a big smile, she motioned for Iris to come over. "Iris~! Come on over, let's go hang out~" She said out loud, expecting Iris to come over and have some nice time with her.

The younger woman's ears perked up at the all too familiar voice, grabbing her attention from the soil that needed to be tilled. Iris had been dressed in normal peasant clothing, a bit baggy and airy so she would be comfortable walking around as she worked. It was a dirt brown color, something Iris had grown accustomed to. It camouflaged any soil or stains that came upon it, making it the most popular choice amongst the farmer's village workers.

Iris turned around. Her small smile turned bigger and joyous upon seeing her closest friend arrive. Iris set the tiller down, then took a rag to wipe her hands from the seed carrier she had set to the side.

She knew that Runara's advisors, guards, or whoever spoke to the princess all had an ill opinion of Iris as a person. Not because she was dangerous or anything, but because she was a "bad influence."

Iris could understand the influence part if it had been in regards to her stealing food when she needed it. But it was still weak evidence against her. Runara didn't need to steal food, nor had Iris encouraged her to do so. Iris had not taken advantage of her friend either, and she'd tried to tell Runara's guards this as an attempt to reason with them.

But, she couldn't exactly argue with sheep and expect to win. So she let them think what they wanted.

She rushed over to her friend, not wanting to keep Runara waiting too long.

"Runara~! How are you today?" Iris asked her, greeting her in the same cheery fashion she always had.

Runara could see her friend Iris approaching her, their difference in wealth class was obvious. Despite that, she don't mind befriending Iris. As Iris approaches, Runara extends her arms, about to hug Iris, but she then realized that dirt would get onto her clothes. She cancels her motion while keeping her cheery smile. "I was always great, thank you for asking~" She answered. "Well, shall we?" Runara motioned Iris to follow.

A while after they walked and having some small talk, they arrived at their usual hangout spot. A field with a clear beautiful view of the lake. Runara took a seat on the grassy field. Gazing at the lake, while she looked content, Iris could see that there was something that troubled Runara even with her attempting to hide that.

"Gee... Sometimes I envy your life." Runara said out of a blue. Perhaps a surprise for Iris as Runara was a princess that were granted a lot of freedom. Why would she say that?

Iris had had a feeling in the pit of her gut that something was amiss. Runara threw thousands of smiles her way when the two were together, a sight that Iris had always enjoyed since that happiness was so contagious. However, because the genuine smiles were so common, it became easy to spot the forced ones. They stood out to Iris, even when the princess tried her best to hide it.

However, what left Runara's lips was... unexpected.

"R-Really?" The smaller Doven asked, her brown and blue eyes wide. Realizing the blatant surprised look she gave her friend, she quickly shook her head a few times to snap out of the momentary shock. She took a seat next to the other."Sorry, this is my first time ever hearing that from anyone... Could you tell me why?"

Seeing Iris reacted in a rather surprised way. Runara tilted her head aside "Eh? What's wrong? Was it that... surprising?" She questioned, although keeping her rather lighthearted tone. Although hearing that Iris never heard that from everyone, she giggled softly.

"Well, not you specifically... But well, not princesses in general." She corrected as she turn her gaze to the lake.

"You see... Living as a princess is pretty great and all, nice clothes, getting pretty much almost everything I wanted as simple as mentioning what I want, the freedom of doing what I wanted... I mean sure there were those private tutoring that I personally not a fan of, that's not really one that I envied though..." Runara went a bit roundabout on her explaining the cause, starting from explaining her life in general.

"But you see, when you came to a certain age..." Runara glanced to her ring finger. "You were expected to grow up and have responsibility as a leader figure... And well... I... I'm not exactly ready for that." This was still not the problem she had with her life. "And what's worse... I... Well, you know... I can't have the freedom to choose my life partner! It was already chosen and decided by my parents!" She raised her tone, sounding really upset on that certain fact. She would then picks up a small pebble on the ground.

"I don't even like that guy, the guy that I'm set to marry..." Sighing, she flings the pebble towards the lake.

Iris sat quietly, listening to Runara explain her troubles as royalty to her. She brought her knees to her chest, hugging them, eyes never leaving her friend to give her her full attention.

She had always held a sense of jealousy towards Runara, but never any contempt. Runara couldn't help that she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, nor could she help the world of responsibilities that came as a consequence to the life of luxuries she was blessed with.

Even though Iris's first scent of life was manure and blood, her happiest memories involved some kind of tool, and the fact she would have to make her own clothes if she didn't profit from the crops, Runara never spoke down on her.

Runara never bragged about her materialistic items. She never treated Iris as lesser than her, despite their clear class differences.

It was why Iris liked Runara. She may be a princess, but she wasn't spoiled rotten. Runara saw people as people instead of "poor" or "wealthy." Iris could think of a few Nobles who could learn from Runara.

"Hmm..." She gave a soft hum, turning her gaze towards the lake as well. "I knew being a royal girl wasn't all it's cracked up to be. Responsibilities ready to drop on you the second you reach that age. And if that ain't enough, they rob you of your future. Now, they're taking away the right to choose who you spend that future with? That's overkill."

Iris watched the glittering waters of the lake's waves rock back and forth. The small ripples and splashes followed Runara's pebble until it sunk somewhere at the center. "The heart and the emotions tied to it are sacred; not something your parents can just disregard for something like this... It's wrong of them for trying to force this on you, inhumane really. You're not a signature on a contract to tie things together. You're Runara, a girl who deserves a say in whose ring she wears. The least they can do is let you find a person who will give you the love and affection you want in life... What's the point of a marriage if it doesn't have the love, bond, and trust the two participants should have, you know?"

Iris reached down and picked up a small pebble herself. She tossed it with a flick of the wrist, watching the small rock as it pitter pattered across the waves but dropped significantly shorter than her friend's first throw. She smiled and dropped her head in defeat. "Ugh. Can't ever get it right..."

Find a person that would give her the love and affection... That's it! Runara should've done that. She should have the right to choose her partner in life. She's not an object, she's a proper being who have rights to decide and not have things decided for her.

Somehow... Iris' comforting message gave her an idea on what to do next, to run away and make a point that while she's the crown princess of a kingdom. Doesn't mean she doesn't have a say to a choice that will affect her future as herself.

"You're right... What's the point of marriage if I don't even love my partner..." She let out a relieved sigh as she glanced at Iris. "I'll... perhaps try to get my voice be heard. I want them to know that I don't want to be forced to marry someone I don't even love."

Runara then reaches her arm around Iris' shoulders, pulling her in to give her a thankful hug. "Thank you... I'm glad to have you as a friend, a dear one at that..."

Iris had no idea what her friend had in mind. She thought that Runara was going to refuse the marriage and stand up for herself. She didn't think her words would inspire the princess to do what no one in Moonsky could have predicted.

Nor was Iris prepared for the consequences that would derive from Runara's actions. Not just against the princess, but to the farm girl who unknowingly motivated what was to come.

She smiled and returned the hug as best as she could, doing her best to avoid touching what she shouldn't.

"Aww, thanks Runara. I'm glad I'm just as dear a friend to you as you are to me!"

How long had it been since Iris had last seen the farm? She wasn't sure. She'd stop keeping track of that a while ago, or at least what felt like a while. Instead, she watched her corners, checked her 6, and wore her hood at all times when navigating around villages. Sometimes she would get to sleep in an inn's bed, sometimes outside using her cloak as a blanket. How had she managed to avoid capture for this long? When her only fighting experience was stabbing bears and critters, not people? Probably through sheer luck and less-than-competent bounty hunters reaching her first.

The Moonsky King had put a generous bounty on her head only a day or so after his daughter disappeared from the kingdom.

"Kidnapper!" He called her, right before demanding the safe return of Runara or Iris would face severe punishment.

They didn't listen to her pleas or her reasoning, nor did they take into account the look of shock on her face when she was told what had happened. She must have been the one to do something so awful to her best friend, because why wouldn't she? Iris was obviously jealous of her princess friend and decided to betray her trust and kidnap her! Maybe sell her to the black market as a slave so Iris can turn her surname's reputation from "low-class filth" to "of utmost respect."

Because why would Iris care about the one friend she saw like a sister?

Obviously Iris was just a manipulative little worm looking for easy riches…

What in the world was the King thinking? Was he just distressed and searched for some scapegoat to pin the blame on? Was this his way of "punishing" her for being friends with Runara?

What did Iris do to deserve fearing for her safety every single day?

She didn't know.

If her luck continued as it had, she may not live long enough to find out the answers.

Iris had no idea what she expected when she attended the festival. A last ditch effort to clear her name? Or maybe the final place she would see Runara's face before she was killed. All she knew was she had gone with the intent of wishing to see her friend again; be it alive, ill, corpse, or grave. She had just wanted closure of Runara's whereabouts. Her backup wish? To live peacefully for the rest of her days. No worries of funds, no worries of problems. Just her, her future family, and her farm; where she had been birthed, and where she would be buried.

Instead, the universe had other plans.

She awoke on a hard surface with blurry vision that gradually came into focus. At first, Iris was certain that she was in a prison cell, but then the charming environment began to settle. The decorations, the building, everything was as far from a cell as it could be.

Iris sat up immediately, but regretted it when her head spun.

What in the world happened? All she knew was she was waiting for bounty hunters to pass, and the next thing she knew, she was… In a castle? A noble's house?

Was this what a wealthy life looked like?

It was then Iris realized that she hadn't been tied up, nor had she been stripped of her weapon.

Speaking of stripped, why was she in a servant's uniform?

If she was captured, why hadn't her weapon been taken from her?

What idiot would leave a weapon with their hostage?

Perhaps this wasn't her capture, but something different…

Was this a psychological experiment on her? Or the King's doing?

Ugh… She's gone insane, hasn't she? This was her descent into madness, wasn't it? Countless worry-filled nights has taken its toll…

Iris had gone to the halls, searching for any clue of where she was. She tried to get some information from any nearby servants she came across; however, none of them even gave her their time of day. As if she wasn't there.

With a pout, the Doven girl was left with no choice but to explore the whereabouts and figure it out herself…

What a mistake that was.

She could hear battle, and while the appropriate instinct was to run away, Iris had no choice but to try and see if the person, or people, battling one another had a common goal with her.

Iris knew she was an idiot, but it was better than standing around waiting for whatever shitstorm it was to come to her.

She was coming down a hall when she heard outbursts. Something that sounded from a woman, spewing hatred over a deserving individual by the sound of it, then a collision against stone?

Iris followed.

She came to a doorway, the source of the commotion, then peeked inside. Eavesdropping was wrong, but it has saved her so many times already…

Her eyes widened seeing a familiar figure, with large black Doven ears and a tail she'd seen so many times prior.

No, it couldn't be…

'Oh kill me now, I've gone insane...' Iris thought to herself as she watched the events unfold.

Spears pointed at this woman, but before Iris could find her voice, another girl found hers.

A small, sleepy looking girl demanded the guards to step aside to let the Doven girl pass, revealing the fortress of pillows around her.

"I wish... I'd noticed sooner. I wish... I could've stopped all this... before so many... so many were..."

The girl paused, squeezing her eyes tight before they opened with a whole new look in them.

"Runara... I'm glad we met. If this is what it's like being a princess... I understand why you ran away."

Runara…

Runara…

I-It was Runara? Truly? Truly?!

This is where she had gone this whole time?

B-But why?

The girl said she ran away?

Why did she run?

Why did she run away? Without so much as a note? Or anything that said she was okay? Did she think Moonsky would be alright with her sudden disappearance?!

Iris hadn't noticed a single tear falling from her left eye, but she was far too focused on the situation at hand to really care.

The little girl punched the wall, the stone collapsing entirely before her before giving Runara, a priestess, and some random boy instructions on how to escape.

If she didn't speak, she'd lose her friend again.

"W-Wait! Runara!" Iris moved from the doorway, calling to her friend, "Take me with you too, please!"

The air was heavy. Sweat rolled down the necks of the travellers. This was truly a shitty situation. They faced another cycle beginning right infront of them.

Could they run away in time. Was Cirika's parents doomed. Who was the archetect of this caslte and could they find them and strangle them?

THUMP.

Everyone slowed down as dust rained down from the roof. Was this!!!

THUMPTHUMP

Oh gods, it was too late! They were all gonna die!

THUMPTHU-

A glass shattering bang roared through the Daimyou's suite.
Light erupted from above. The shady castle atmosphere was swept away as the evening sun greeted the coup supporters and breakers alike.

As the ceiling began to rain down, Two figures could be falling down. Who, due to the Daminyo's egotisical need for impratical high ceilings. Were still falling in the air.

Holding eachother: One in peaceful bliss. One in agnoising terror.

BubblegumIco.jpg

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village, Haschou Village Central ]

"T-Those are a lot of words..." And he knew for one, that Unkillable was incorrect. Which gave him some hope on the inseparable part.

Saburo stared at her. Yes, how would he get rid of this lunatic? Would pointing behind her with a suprised expression work?

A sketch of a blueprint of a framework of an idea was made in his head. Yes, he think he knew just how to solve two problems at once. "Y-Yeah....we are gonna kick some booty. There's some silly coup going on. And you- I mean us are gonna flex our power on them!" Tapping the tips of his fingers together. Saburo chuckled nervously.

Perfect. If he could leave her to the group over at the castle. Then she could do some good work while being free of his hands. He'd seen her toss those guards like they were nothing. It wasn't like he was wishing harm on her, nothing like it! But if Rumiko perhaps got a little irritated at her, then...well. Who could fault him? Everyone knew himself that the priestess was prone to some violent outbursts. As a wise man once said. Let them fight.

"C-Come...er, princess?" Almost exicited at the potential outcome of this. Saburo beckoned the princess to come along as he begin to almost jog back to the castle.

He would solve actually getting in there along the way....probably.[/HR][/hr]

The girl's smile curled even more upwards. "Yes, the coup." She nodded, retracting her stretched out arm. "I like the way you're thinking." The Ocan Princess was truly happy.

There was no need to convince him. No need to explain herself to him. The axe-wielder had her very own reasons to screw with people, but what did it matter if Saburo literally asked her for it?

She could feel her heart racing as she followed Saburo. Yeah, this feeling. It truly was love — or just the adrenaline from running towards the castle?

They reached the outskirts of the maplegrounds. An increasingly familar sight for the Pirate King. Jogging along, his mind raced with the hope of potential freedom from this girl. Afterall, dates were best kept short and sweet.

The remaining peasents huddling around the fire came over the horizon as they got closer to to the gates. Which meant that a certain noble might still be there "Er, T-This way!" Saburo announced, suddenly taking a 45 degree turn.

They reached the walls of the maplegrounds. A good distance away from the guarded gates. Course, this led to the problem of getting over the high walls.

It was fortunate then, that Saburo was following his tendency to stare at the floor. As he spotted some sort of hole to the other side. It was small, but it wasn't like the two of them were too big anyway. Questions such as why the hell this was here would be saved for later.

Saburo opened his mouth to speak, but halted himself. He didn't know how far they were with this whole coup shennagins. But for all he knew, He could get across the other side only to have numerous bows pointed at him.

Glancing at Bubblegum, Saburo figured it was best for the toughest to lead the pack. "Well...Ladies first?

"...?" Bubblegum looked confused at him for a second, tilting her head. "You know they have a fr-" Before realization struck her. Smiling. Yes. This was wonderful, truly. "We're truly made for each other!"

Drawing Love Tap from its holster, the Ocean Princess eyes shimmered brightly as she changed the configuration of her weapon. Making a huge wind-up animation, there was now only herself and the target in her mind.

"Be gentle, Love Tap." She whispered to her weapon before striking. Flames from behind increasing the weapons velocity to an even higher level of destruction.

It sounded like a cannon ball had just slammed into the stone wall as bricks and other debris miraculously missed the two. A one-siege army, ready at the Pirate King's call.

With a very proud grin the girl walked through the wall. No need for those tiny little dirt holes like some peasant. "So... what's your plan?"

Holy Shit.

"Huh."

His Stalker was wielding a cannon, and not with much trouble either! What the hell was this girl! Subsconciously holding the handle of his whip in a reassuring manner. The Pirate King walked through the newly made hole. His eyes on the now collapsed tunnel the entire time.

"Plan?" Saburo stared at Bubblegum. "O-Oh. Y-Yes." He hadn't honestly thought that they would get through like that. Who would to be honest. In the best of worlds where she had already been seperated from him by now, He would have fled far back into the village. But seeing as that had not happened yet...

Gods, he couldn't go in there with her. She might actually get far enough in that he wouldn't get back out safely. That or she would end up bringing the whole castle down with them.

He looked up to the sky. He needed somewhere without any danger, but close enough to make it seem like they were doing it. The sunshine rays stinging his eyes, He shifted slightly so that the roof of the castle blocked the sun.

The Pirate King blinked.

"The Roof. First, we get to the roof"

Flawless Plan, aside from the matter of how to actually get there.

"W-Well..." Saburo coughed, trying his best to give an quizzing look towards Bubblegum. "A-And how would you go upon it." The Pirate King challenged.

"The roof?" The Ocean Princess repeated Saburo's words as she looked up, before giving him a thumbs up. "That'll be easy, my love!" The greatest of man was thoroughly testing her, wasn't he?

Oohhh, she made sure he would fall for her in every reality possible. Over and over again.

"Although..." Suddenly, the Princess appeared a lot more timid, even fidgeting. "It'll be my first time..." Her cheeks flushed. "...my first time with someone else..." She corrected herself, before giving him a wink with a mischievous smile. "So please be gentle."

Opening and closing another set of hatchets on Love Tap, the girl rammed the weapon into the ground: The shaft now horizontal.

"Now, Saburo, come closer!" Not giving him much of a choice, the Ocean Princess grabbed Saburo around his waist and dragged him a lot closer.

Pointing at the padded bottom on Love Tap's head, she continued excitedly. "Use that as a foothold, and hold on tight!" This was the one and only warning he would get.

Her one arm still wrapped around the Pirate King's waist, and the other firmly on the weapon's shaft, Saburo could feel the ground under them getting hotter and hotter. There were flames, and smoke, as the weapon the two were standing on literally started to ascend.

Drops of sweat were running down the Princess's face as all she did was giggle like mad. "FUUUUUN~~" They went higher, and higher. Closer and closer to the roof the Pirate King sought so after. Or maybe they aimed even further beyond? Reaching for the Stars in Heaven?

"What next, oh great Pirate King?" She yelled, for the fire stream below them made quite the noise.

Oh gods, he was going to die.
Wrapped up with a Princess, flying through the air.

With great despair, he watched the roof go by and get increasingly under the couple. If it wasn't for the wind tring to rip his eyelids off, he probably would have started crying.

"STOP IT YOU MADWOMAN!" He screamed as loud as he could. The heat under him began to disperse. Soon, the self-made rocket device reached it's peak in it's trajectory. For a moment, the two Pirates stared at eachother. Romantically floating in the sky. Aleast from Bubblegum's view.

Then gravity kicked in.

They began to fall, and fall fast.

"I-"

He wanted to go home.

"I DON'T-"

He wanted to go home!

"I DON'T WANNA DIEEEE!" Saburo cried.

It began to rain ice.
That was underselling it however, the size of the ice was basically the size of an man. It was raining down, in large chunks. Crashing against the roof of the castle.

THUMP

Never one to be shown up. Bubblegum was quick to think of a way to help her partner. Though not exactly sure on what he was trying to do. She obviously went with what would be cool.

THUMPTHUMP

Saburo felt himself getting grabbed by both of Bubble's gum arms.

Opening his eyes, Saburo felt a sincere moment confusion. If she was holding him, who was holding the ax-

Saburo looked down, or up in his scenario. It was hurtling towards the roof.

No.

Nonono-

THUMPTHU-

The roof gave away in brilliant flames; As the two fell into the castle.

And now, the present.

"AAAAAAH!"

His vision was obscurred purely by the face of bubblegums.

And suddenly Saburo had a very clear thought.

He was not gonna have his last moments be connected to the one who caused his demise.

Pressing his hands against the Princess's stomach. Bubblegum wonde-

"Drizzle Whisper"

Saburo used his last will to send her flying away with his water force.

Much to his chagrin, the Princess would land right next to Kiri. Where all the pillows had been collected for the Tousawan noble. Her Axe skidding to the stop right where the stone pillar had been.

Ah, at least he would die by himself.

That thought wasn't very comforting when he was in the air hurtling towards the ground.

Wait a second, Wasn't this just like..

"W-W-WAAAATER FALL SMASH!"

Drawing from the falling ice. Saburo formed a protective water bubble around himself.

Lady Moriyra, like many of the others. Did not have time to react much to this development. Which, unforunately for her. Meant not getting out of the way of the hurtling water hamster ball.

Saburo screamed silently as his ball collided with the traitorous Lady Moriya

It was not soft for her.

The bubble popping. He bounced up and flew once again up in the sky. Thankfully, this was a lot shorter. Right into the tied up nobles, was his destination. Not that he had any idea that he had done that or who they were. But it was the way it happened.

Alive.

He was still alive.

Fumbling between the mess of nobles. Saburo struggled to get up.

"God, so many ropes. I-I don't judge...couple stuff. But I will have to break these. Sorry!" Freezing the ropes till they snapped. Saburo rose up.

"..."

He felt as if he was interrupting something.

There was a lot of people in this room. Including his group. errr...

Looking around, he settled on looking at the person closest to him. He was unknowingly staring the just freed Dayimo in the face.

He took a deep breath.

"I AM THE PIRATE KING!....What's going on?"

First off Kiri and Runara would have a talk, while the former seemed a bit scared or unsure, it was during this the Miko would be overwhelmed by her senses and observations. As if all together, Kiri attempted to bring the building down on them all..no it was more than an attempt, she fully meant to do so.. Another Doven of some sort came running out of nowhere screaming at Runara..well she wasn't sure what, as suddenly the pirate lord and a strange looking girl arrived, watching as the girl of the pair landing in a pile of pillars and Saburo put the poor woman into the floor, bouncing into the nobles.

The problem was Kiri had already put her plan into motion nodding at the Miko as she pulled it off, was it out of recognition, spite, approval? There was no way they could save them all.. but the Miko could buy time. Perhaps...

"IDIOT! GET HER OUT NOW! GO!" Stepping off on one leg and moving at speed, the Miko had aimed her center of mass for Kiri directly, or at least the supporting pillar. She had 50-50 Odds from how she figured. Shouting at Kiri in the first case and Runara in the second, the Miko would launch her own belated offensive, not bothering to mention who "her" was. They all should know it by now. (@LowDefinition @Luma)

In one case she could knock Kiri and herself out of the wall and disrupt the collapse if only briefly by forcing it to fold more onto this side. If she missed she could take up the support foundation at least briefly to slow it for the others to gain some time to escape.

This wouldn't kill her so easily.. Either way, at the very least a part of the Keep would fall, the only difference was how fast, how much and if Kiri survived.. As to the nobles that Subaru had misshapenly saved.. Well that was the providence of the Kami and of her allies..

Now she would cast her own dice of fate, would she save Kiri and slow the destruction to save the rest, or would she just buy time.. though Kiri was unlikely to be saved by the rest. Regardless minus themselves Cirika had the highest priority to live. (@Ehb )

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Daimyou's Suite]

Not even the spears pointed at her, threatening to take her life. Fazed her as she approaches Kiri to welcome her to a hug. It was surely going to be the end of her if she didn't stop, or if not for Kiri demanding the guards to step aside.

Kiri... realized that being a princess is not all sunshine and rainbows as what some people had said. She understood why Runara ran, in that light and tender hug. After that Runara receives some sort of... brooch? shaped like a tree. Kiri said it was for good luck before turning her gaze to the others and give everyone directions before...

Runara couldn't believe this, she still went to collapse the castle, and to think that this castle is only supported by one pillar... Who made this castle? Even she knows Sapiens could do a better foundation than this terrible foundation, which was what Runara would thought if she's not surprised at Kiri's bold move. The castle started rumbling and out of nowhere came... Iris!?

Before she could look clearly at Iris, two figures crashed down onto the suite. One was Saburo, and one was... Some eccentric looking human. He managed to break the situation and saved the nobles held captive. Meanwhile she watches Rumiko charging towards the supporting pilar that were behind Kiri. Noticing this, Runara quickly dove away, diving towards Iris. She would then wrap her arms around Iris. Embracing her shortly before letting go.

"Iris!!! Why are you here!?" She questioned in panic, grabbing her wrist. "You know what, save it for later! We need to get out of this castle!" She quickly retracts her question before making a dash away, dragging Iris with her. She looked at others and expect any one of them to help drag Cirika out of this castle that would crumble down to the ground soon!

[Month of Harvest, Haschou Village / Haschou Castle, Daimyou's Suite]

Eyes focused on the sound of crackling, creaking drywall. The source of the sound was a monster. Threatening to do the exact same thing that Lady Moriya was threatening them with.

Cirika was watching Rumiko with a mix of awe and terror. She remembered that this person had punched into a barrel at the market. She was a little awed that the Miko had such an admirable mindset. But, maybe, just a little bit moreso she was a little surprised at Rumiko's suddenly overwhelming presence.

"Stop your stupid revolt now, or I'll make good on your threat, and you, stop killing everyone in this! If we can spare them and lock her up then no one else needs to die!"

Lady Moriya and Crika glanced at each other. Their meeting gazes seeming to communicate something along the lines she's serious? Rumiko then pointed to Kiri.

Cirika's surprised expression eased a little. Thinking about it a little. Her rush from charging into the castle... the people that were getting cut down. She didn't want any bloodshed... but still. A coup was a coup. What else could she do against these people who've taken the castle? But, a part of her still felt like what Rumiko said was right. She didn't want to have people die... but...!

She struggled with this mentally as the exchange continued.

"I don't take kindly to being threatened. As my master said, When the devil comes a knock'n, look him square in the eye, you've got faith like a mountain and you won't let it die."

"Don't lecture me you damned monster! I know what I'm doing here will lead to prosperity for the people of this land!" Lady Moriya retorted.

"Yeah, could you come up with a plan that kills the bitch threatening us instead of us?" Kuroi added. "Yeah... I have no idea who did what or who's right or wrong... but the ogre here will kill us all."

Understandably. Kuroi was a little... distant to the supposed crisis unfolding before him. It felt a little unreal, hard to believe. But, the most 'real' thing for him here was his sister, Rumiko. He knew firsthand the things those absurdly muscular arms could do to a person.

"Yeah... so does anyone have an actual fucking plan here?"

Runara, looking to Kiri, attempted to appeal to her with her words.

". . . Is this what you really wanted Kiri?" T
"Knowing you, you wouldn't dump your friends for this position... No? I know you're not that kind of person."
"What do you truly wish for?"

She approached Kiri with welcoming arms. The coup members on the other side eyed her down wearily.

"You could just whisper it to me should you afraid of revealing it to everyone..."

@LowDefinition

"Stand back Dog ears! If you know what's good for ya! We're going to join Senka and put an end to all the ails of this town! We'll get food, and men... then you'll be regretting the side you chose!" Warned the nearest guard, spear poised at her.

@Luma @EmperorsChosen

Cirika shook her head. She'd come to a decision.

"Kiri! I... don't want this! I don't want to fight you! We can talk it out! Let's reach a peaceful resolution. As long as it takes to. We can do it!" She put her hand over her heart. "No more. Rumiko... she's right. No one else needs to die!"

"Now you have time for me.... haha... hah..."

"Kiri... Let's stop this. I know I made a mistake. But... that can be mended. It can!"

"Stop..."

N-no... stop... let her through..."
"Lady Kiri. This doven isn't part of the coup. Why?"
"...now!"

The guards, with hesitation, allowed Runara through. Prompting a response from Lady Moriya.

"Why are you letting that woman through? Idiots!"

....
Kiri parlayed with Runara. Speaking in hushed tones before handing the doven something. She then looked to the others.
"At sunset, the first day the leaves turned yellow, Ciri visited Shibuta's Lodge... just for a few minutes. If you take her and get close enough to the mountain, no one should follow you. Take her and get out of this horrible place...!"

She punched the wall - the support pillar - behind her. It began to crack.
Lady Moriya only looked on in an expression synthesized between shock and vividly pungent fear.

"KIRIHA MORIYA! STOP THIS AT ONCE!"

@Jessica2477
"W-Wait! Runara!"
"Take me with you too, please!"

Another ear'd one. In the doorway seemed to call out to the traveler's own doven.
But, at the moment, the most alarming crumbling of the support pillar behind Kiri was drawing the most attention.
The roof collapsed into the room with a harrowing smash.

"AAAAAAH!"

...and a scream?

The dust in the room cleared. The castle had not yet collapsed, rather it was just the roof above them in the center of the room that had done so. But, it's collase wasn't due to the damage Kiri or the Miko was inflicting on the Keep. Rather, it was from the two people who had fallen in to the keep itself from above.

In the time that it took for the dust to clear, there were various untied nobles scrambling out of the room. Runara and a girl were heaped into each other by Kiri, Lady Moriya lay dazed in a puddle of water... and...

"I AM THE PIRATE KING!....What's going on?"

The travelers and cirika looked at Saburo, standing in the midst of cut ropes and the general chaos. Almost everyone in the room, shadows, traitors, were helplessly on the ground and looking at this strange man whom had come crashing from the heavens.

"...."

"IDIOT! GET HER OUT NOW! GO!"

Rumiko yelled out. Just as suddenly, the room shuddered from an impact. Cirika only caught a glimpse of the Rumiko's figure charging headlong into Kiri's direction. A plume of dust arose after her attack though. Obscuring what exactly happened. Cirika was however, able to observe the subtle shifts in the orientation of the room. She got a feeling that what Rumiko had did just now was intentional. But, the most important thing, though, was to get out!

And, get out they ultimately did.
Despite the dangers of the castle collapsing entirely, the strike that the Miko inflicted on thee support pillars seemed to prevent the structure from collapsing entirely. Though structurally unstable, the building did manage to hold to allow for those inside to be evacuate.

An hour later, Cirika, the travelers, the guards and the nobles and conspirators who surrendered remained gathered outside in the dark. The keep began to groan, as structures within the damaged floor began to give way. With a resounding crash the floor where the Daimyou's suite resided was flattened. Showering the area with dust.

However, ultimately the Keep remained standing ultimately.

At the rally point back at the gates, Saburo was also staring down the very stony expression being worn by Lord Ikkikari. Somehow, even though the entire coup seemed to hasve been single highhandedly resolved thanks to the person staring at him, he seemed quite stoic, even if he'd been dropped down on by Saburo.

"Cirika."
"Yes, father?"

He looked around at the whole group of foreigners who were gathered here. He understood that they were here to help, but he had to ask his daughter regardless.

"Who are these people, Cirika?"
"They offered to help defeat the swallow beaks, you see."
"I see. How... curious!"

@Rithas

The daimyou hovered his head over Saburo's for just a moment.
He sized it like a crane claw.

Cirika Ikkikari - #808080
Cirika_Ico.jpg

[Month of Renewal, Haschou Village / The Maplegrounds]

Cirika plainly drank her tea at a table as her father carried the 'Hero' Saburo under his arm like a wooden plank. The daimyou was laughing heartily in the background as the villagers laughed and clapped at the merriment. After them, a girl with bright hair and an angry expression persued them sluggishly but determinedly under the weight of a few guardsman dragging behind her.

Lord Ikkikari weirdly taken a liking to Saburo since the coup. Today, finally, after the repairs, the castle was finally able to hold festivities for the destruction of the Swallow Beaks and the defeat of the Lesser Dragon. The Village hunters were able to again practice their skills on the swallow beaks that remained in disarray in the surrounding countryside. Since the Daimyou wished to have all of them culled, the food at the festival remained plentiful.

The travelers, after much difficulty, seemed to finally be able to get some rest. Both fortunately and unfortunately for Saburo, he was being hailed as some sort of hero. The most admiration seemed to be coming from Lord Ikkikari though, who seemed keen on 'giving him a lift' whenever he saw him. The manner the Daimyou went about this was absolutely terrifying however so he'd been trying to avoid him throughout the entirety of the frost.

It was now the season of Renewal. The frost was giving away. But, the party's efforts to take back the Farmlands and their granaries allowed for those grains to be released to the public before they went bad. Indeed, this 'harvest festival' was quite late. But after the rough Frost, cleaning up after the coup, fighting off the Berserk fangs to clear the farmlands and secure the grain stores. This peace was most certainly a welcome one.

Cirika looked about at the villagers. Not too many of them were lining up for the Swallow Beak nowadays. The appeared to be getting a little bored of the plentiful fowl meat. Those partaking in eating were more eager to have the grains and pastries that were now available.

Food, games, and festivities. This time was a far cry from the chaotic situation from several months ago, when the Travelers went from causing trouble in the market to helping defeat the coup. In the distance, Haschou castle was finally in the process of being taken down, the damage that was done to it during the coup was too much to be repaired.

In the meantime, She and the Daimyou's family had taken up residence in the manor that was Seized from the Moriya Family.
Yes, right now, just opposite from her. Sitting with an empty expression was Kiri. Unlike her mother, she was pardoned for her participation for the coup. The price she paid was being stripped of her rank... and to take one of her own fingers as proof of her loyalty to the Ikkikari. Right now, officially, Kiri Moriya was a servant to Cirika. Though, in reality, Cirika took control over her, as any other noble would likley treat Kiri worse after what happened.

Her protecting Kiri was a contentious issue for some of the townfolk, some of whom wanted the entire Moriya family killed for their treachery. Lord Moriya was in exile in a foreign land. He had likely heard of what had happened, and knew that coming to the village was a deathwish.

Saburo and Bubblegum landed in a heap right beside the sitting Kiri. His head just barely missing a neatly stacked pyramid of rolls. Much to Rumiko's displeasure as she was about to reach out to take one.
Kiri, like always, didn't react much to it. Though Cirika did not wish to downplay the people who died in the coup, for her, she felt like like Kiri was among those hurt the most by it. The wounds taken from her being tackled by Rumiko were no longer as apparent. But the wounds taken from the aftermath of that day were still there. Keeping her at close hand was the best option she could think of for her.

Dwelling on that wasn't what the festival was about though. And, it wasn't the reason why she'd gathered the travelers here today.

@_Everyone

Cirika put her cup down. With Bubblegum and Saburo piled up here, that meant everyone was here.

"...Everyone. Thank you very much for the past few months. It was no doubt thanks to your combined efforts that we've finally been able to hold an
actual proper feast and festival, as I'd promised all the way back during the Month of Chill."

Most certainly, many things had happened since then.

"I've always been under the assumption that you've all been begrudgingly waiting to actually get your celebration for defeating that Lesser Dragon. In yes, you've also helped out the village immensely. But... now that the festivals' happened, what are you all to do now? You see, I wanted to call you all here today because, um... well..."

She traced over a healing scratch on her hand. That one had come from the quest that sent them out into the cottage far out in the woods.

"I was wondering if having this festival meant that it was goodbye."

The party and her had done many things together these past couple of months. More often than not, the things they deal with was unpleasant. Fighting monsters, confronting curses, or seeing the worst that people could do to others out in the wilderness. These experiences had provided Cirika with valuable knowledge and practice in going out and dealing with real problems beyond the secure gates of the town.

But, she knew from the start of their partnership that these people weren't going to be here forever. After all, Rumiko had said from the beginning that what they sought was not a cozy home here in the town.

"...Rumiko-san. A long time ago, back when we fist met. You mentioned to me that you all came from a different world... one that was much like this, but in the future. I never gave you the time to explain it, but... after all that we've been through together and after how much you've all helped me and the village..." Cirika put her hand over her heart, she nodded assuredly. "I think it's my turn now. I want to help you all out."

Yes. The time they'd all spent questing with each other had softened Cirika up to the otherwise preposterous idea that they were from another world, or time travelers. They had been searching for ways to escape the world, but in their adventures, the only anomalies and bits and pieces they could scrounge up ended up being too fragmented or inconclusive.

But, when Cirika made that sort of gesture it usually meant she was very sure of something. Did that mean she had a lead to what they were seeking?

"Please tell me. Up until now I've just been depending on all of oyu, but I want to now return that favor. But, I must know more of it, if you may."

Having finished her talk with Saburo, Rumiko wanders in search for the others, or at least the ones she could find. From what brief interactions they had since then, he took that event somewhat hard. Well that would be putting it mildly, he wasn't depressed at least, but working with Cirika could become problematic and she still didn't fully believe his reasonings in regards to her.

Either way she wasn't going to force anything out of him, but she had taken it upon herself to check all those she could. Death and filled her with a desire to wipe out the Wolves, it was highly unlikely the others weren't bothered by it... No that was impossible.

Wandering the town in search of her comrades before they were no doubt dragged into more of this madness, she spots Kei in the streets. Even with these shadow people now being, well not so much shadow, his features tended to stick out in the crowd, never mind the brief murderous glares.. And it became apparent why, a smiling old man was sitting with him at a corner booth, playing a game of shogi, one in which Kei was losing badly to the old fart, not that Rumiko herself knew how to play it at all either.

"Ah, Kei-San.. How goes your game? And how are you feeling after that.. dog bite?" Hopefully he wouldn't cut the old man with his knives..that would make things very awkward, well not as awkward as asking how he was doing with being brutally mauled to death.

He thought he was good at shogi. Maybe this old man was some kind of secret shogi master? Kei focused on the pieces, contemplating his next move. He moved his hand over a piece, and started to move it what he thought was the right way.

"It doesn't move like that, son."

"Oh, uh sorry." Kei blushed. "It's been a while since I was even taught this the first time."

After a few moves, Kei ultimately was just about to lose.

"You seem to favor going just for the King with your Knight, son. Remember that you have other pieces to play. It's not just about that one piece winning."

"Yeah, but it can jump over all the other pieces and move forward regardless."

"Hmmm." The old man sat back in his seat.

Rumiko appeared, quietly materializing for such a huge woman.

"I believe that's the game."

"I think that's about as well as I'm going to do at this game," Kei replied to Rumiko. "As for the dog bite, it's healing well enough. Still kinda aches, but it'll be fine. I'll walk with you. I think this old man might be hustling me, might be a grandmaster chess player."

Blinking at his response after having watched the game, he was much more calm than she would have expected, though that was not why she was surprised.

"How could he be hustling you, I mean you have no money to bet with...right?"

Pondering that as they walked off, was it possible the world had given him money on this so called respawn.. Would be her luck if so.

"Ahhaha, he seemed to rather know what he was about at any rate. Not that I would have done any better.."

With that there was one thing she had to ask at the back of her mind. "I won't press it, but was there anything you want to talk about, I mean, I know it's impossible for you to have known Cirika, that was almost fifty years ago, but just dealing with her seems to bother you more than just a casual dislike."

At Rumiko's valid point Kei mumbled, "...no, I don't."

The only reassurance that Kei received was that at least the miko wasn't any better at shogi, but she could probably just punch her opponent and win anyway. How did she even get so big, anyway?

Then she asked about his relation to Cirika.

"No, I don't know her. However, I did study this time period pretty closely. It's kind of a romantic era. You've got heroes and villains... and the villains win," Kei said. "This whole place gets covered with ash. I suppose I'm mad at her for that."

He stopped to consider the matter further.

"She reminds me a little of someone I once knew, too. All haughty and rude, and thinks that she's above you. The only difference is how far that Cirika will go to remind you about her status and how low yours is."

]Sighing with a head nod, Kei's problem was an all too common one in a manner, or at least from her field of view.

"All nobles are like that, not religious unless you have Demons to kill or other major problems, then they'll shower you with gifts and ask for forgiveness, soon after it's back to how it was."

There was also the issue of his previous remark as the Miko rubs the back of her head. "I wouldn't take it too seriously what we've read, this world I think is some proof of that we must move forward with an open mind, but a resentment or curse strong enough to birth this.. I have only read such from ancient legends. We must find the source and judging by a few things we've seen I'm not so sure that source is Cirika.. Or at least in full."

Shaking her head once more with disappointed sigh the Miko raises her hands. "All I can say for sure is, the way this world reacts to us will answer much. And yes she does have a terrible habit of that.. Doesn't help this world seems set on casting us as trouble makers."

"... the last part was actually me saying that she's generous compared to the other person."

Cirika probably wouldn't lock him in a closet. His voice had gone hoarse from calling for help from the other servants. Even now, remembering how he couldn't even get the space to pound on the closet door... his heart beat a little faster and harder. He wasn't in the closet anymore, Kei reminded himself. He wasn't.

"Yes, but that doesn't mean that the groundwork for such things aren't there already. Moriya... I don't trust him. He could already be plotting something."

The source of the curse? It was too hard to pinpoint. Who hated her so much that they would trap this whole town to make Cirika die in a loop like this?

"Even if it does try to cast us as trouble makers... I have to wonder if there's another force at work beyond the one keeping us here. I mean, we remember the loops. We remember..." Kei gripped his arm. "We remember being mauled to death by wolves. Yet, we just moved back in time a little. I don't think that Vladis is even around anymore."

"Heh, she's still a noble." Rumiko says flatly at his first attempt of a defense on her behalf.

"Moriya has a funny mustache, if he's not plotting someone around him is.. I know that sounds silly but facial hair can be a give away with some people being up to no good, like they were advertising."

Pausing a bit at that, Rumiko laughs, rubbing the back of her head. "Well it's more than that, after all he threw his daughter out with us and generally paid no attention to anything we had to say, that's a man you could stab in the back and he wouldn't notice till the blade was out of his chest."

Thinking on the rest of what he had to say, the Miko gives a nod of her head, before starting to veer off.

"You have given me much to think on, we can tell if this is a reactive sort of curse or not in short order, if we disrupt this set story we'll likely see quickly if the world reacts... And I am very sure there is another force at work here, one I mean to find.. If you need to talk, I'm easy to spot.

Maybe some of the others may have picked something off the Job board.. I would like to kill those wolves buut..."

"Yeah, she is. A doomed one, but still a noble."

He wished that a mustache was a clear indicator of evil. Though the amount of effort that went into said mustache certainly qualified him for evil.

"Just remember, he's still the Spymaster. It could be all an act. It's hard to tell if he's totally competent or not right now." Kei replied.

Noticing that Rumiko was veering off towards another direction, Kei figured it was time to say farewell.

"Heh, if you want to test the world's reaction so bad, let's just blow up the castle and call it a day." Kei laughed. "I doubt that'll go well if we end up doing that though."

He shrugged. "Ah, but I guess we really should just look around for the others. They're interested in the job board, so they're probably there. I'll go with you."

Rumiko Mitsurugi - CC #b30000
Rumiko_Ico.jpg

[[Month of Renewal, Haschou Village / The Maplegrounds]

Looking around at the others, none seemed worse for the wear, some jobs couldn't be done, others were. Revenge was gotten over those damnable wolves, if not for her brother mocking her, Rumiko wanted to take one to wear as a headdress with it's long flowing fur hanging off her body.. But she had to settle for a coat during the long, long winter. She had no idea how much time had passed in their world, but the spirits here had needed help, of that she was unquestionably sure.

Course not all had went swimmingly, Kiri had to chop off one of her fingers and had lost her title, her family had kept their skins but overall their lot in life had taken a hit, but they still had it..

Well no, they didn't. Looking at Cirika the Miko pays apt attention to her request, taking up her warm friendly smile, there was a softness to the eyes that hinted it was not a fake, but something in it would remind one of a priest reading the final rites to a dying man.

"I would not know where to start, but I shall try." Pushing aside the rice bowel she was given and setting her chopsticks down, Cirika deserved to know..
"Lady Cirika, we all here are from your lands, or most of us rather, the blood of Tousawa runs in our veins.. But from fifty years from now. Lady Cirika to be frank, you and all who are here, minus the infants who are oddly lacking in this town are dead. But it is not so simple.. I will tell you of the 50 years time that has passed and of why you all are here to the best of my conclusions. Pardon if this is long, to reach the now we must start from the beginning."

"In our world, you die this week, if not tomorrow, killed by an unknown Assassin, your Father goes on to wage a massive War, and Lady Kiri, according to history goes on ultimately in the eyes of history to have betrayed us all, her name forever tied to being a Traitor.. However the problems don't end there, Haschou becomes sacked as a result of the wars and while your Family partially unifies the land, it would be the Mountain that... saved us all. Demon Crown Mountain, it saves us by exploding and wiping out most of Tousawan lands, forcing us to unify and fight the Shang for Steppes land that barely keeps us alive. Our people are slowly dying our life spans greatly reduced..creatures not of this world and bandits plague the lands we now call home.. Even my Temple lays broken, our priests and priestess are scattered.."

Waiting for the woman to process all that Rumiko had to say she continues; "So what does this have to do with you? In our time, while we took the land Shang didn't want they are still unquestionably the ruling power, Economically and in time Militarily. We are guests on the doorstep of a Giant we gave a bloody nose. Said giant is now, well, holding a Festival of Swords, the Wushu School holds a battle tournament in which those who collect three bells from a defeated enemy can have any wish within reason, given by the King, or if you prefer Emperor of Shang. Prisoners, killers, thieves, peasants, soldiers, swordsmen all compete. We all here have a wish, something we want or have to do. Personally I think it's a cover story for something else or rigged from the start.

My wish was funds to build a new village and Temple back in our lands a real city for the Refugees so that we may retake our own lands, and to spread a common religion to Shang and Tousawa alike so just maybe this all does not repeat.. Well..there is also the small issue of asking for pardons and a blank pass to assault corrupt officials..a fat Governor of note.."

Either way, most you see here were poisoned, our bells stolen, a swordswoman of renown who could be your reincarnation I dare say came to attack us after we grouped up and did a distasteful thing, a great many bells in her hand, more bells than she needed.. And Shang Crossbowmen, Soldiers, not fighters.

After a..disruption to our attempts to fight her honorably..." She says with a bit of distaste to her voice while not looking directly at anyone in general as she carries on, "..went very poorly. While fleeing we ended up in a water logged graveyard that contained many of the important people of this village in it, why or how I don't know, but the site was desecrated, our temple laid in ruins. I tried to sanctify as much as I could for the time being but it was not enough.

A vengeful Spirit rose up from the graves and we had to battle it, to release it from it's torment and to save ourselves.. That spirit was..you.

Or a part of you rather, once purified with holy fire, rather than being dismissed you, or what I believe was a fragment of you joined in union with your sword.. Why your sword was there, well, I'm not too sure, I can just say, bushy eyebrows there leaves us a descendant that looks a whole lot like her and about as smug." Laughing heartily she shakes her head while grabbing a cup of sake.

"She was so ignorant to the spirits and to faith that she literally could not see them and didn't get dragged in. Though Lady Cirika, you are not at fault, your attachments brought us in, but..if I am to be honest, I believe this is a Realm of the Ancestral afterlife one that was severed.

Someone, or ones out there hated you enough that they cursed everyone in this village into being chained here, their spirits split, their rebirth or eternal rest being held captive, so they could watch you die again and again and again.. This is a foul sorcery and the Kami shall not forgive who did this, I will see to it they end up in the Seven Hells... Either way we cannot leave, we have died at least once and a poor man who was here that you all no longer remember went mad from repeating this endlessly, failing to help you once.

The Resentment towards you is in the fact you failed the Pilgrimage, your resentment combined with others and the poor spirits condemned to die in agony in Haschou has made a very, very powerful curse..

But one that can be broken."

Pausing once more as she sets the Sake Cup down, this was exactly why the Miko hated long talks or story telling, it got very, very tedious.

"It is my belief and some of what I pieced together from the ruins, caves and holy sites, that if we can protect you from the Assassins, whom we know who are coming and if we can help you finish this pilgrims path, the curse will be broken and your souls can move on in peace.. And that we can be released.

If I am to be honest, I don't think you can prevent the Eruption, it's a natural occurrence. And I don't know if I believe in Kiri being the one who was the great betrayer, mostly as, it's said she's the one who shoots you in the Neck. Supposedly she falls from a horse and snaps her neck.. This I for sure do not believe.

Where you all will go once we finish this, I cannot say, I don't know how much time has passed for us out there, and the power and the fact this curse is in Southern Shang, it is possible some disturbances and changes will happen in our world..either way yourand yours have been reliving this for 50 years almost."

Going back to her bowl of rice, the Miko doesn't start eating just yet, though the story seemed to be winding down at least.

"If you want to help us, then allow us to help you, at the end of this all I think we'll find the source and then and there we can defeat it and punish it and you will have finished your Duty and allow all these here to rest at long last.. We cannot remain here Lady Cirika and while I don't know what effects this world may have, I can recall comrades we have lost in this world, likely taken by the horrors of the Swamp, but I cannot recall their names. It all is not doom and gloom, your school still survives but this world is just a vengeful reflection of the past.

If you can accept all of this, or want to humor the words of a madwoman, you get company on a lonely road and saved from an assassination. If however the Madwoman is right, I will do all that I can to see to it that a proper shrine is built and that you all are reburied in the rightful homeland. Either way it's more work for me. And if I cannot do it, then provided I can find a suitable enough fool, my children will." Laughing while rubbing the back of her head Rumiko sighs heavily ending the story with a bit of a joke;

"Ah well need to find a man with peculiar tastes I guess."

Having laid out the truth, the tales of death and destruction, the plotting of the Shang and the corruption of history and the story of the Assassins and how Cirika is why they were here, the Miko seems strangely serene with all of this, as she turns to her comrades in turn, the story time was over and a long one it was.

[Month of Renewal, Haschou Village / The Maplegrounds]

A whole season spent in the ghost town. Kei developed habits of helping townsfolk between jobs and visiting Cirika. Mainly, it was an excuse to help Kiri with her new position of servant where he could. He never elaborated on why he decided this. Even when asked, he'd just silently continue his task.

Saburo could soak up the glory and all the praise. That was fine with Kei. He deserved it after the crazy new people they picked up. Someone Runara knew, some Sea Princess, and Rumiko's brother. It was all chaotic.

The regular schedule and work helped a lot with it.

The festival was fun though. He wasn't sure why he'd allowed himself to think that he was having a good time at this festival in spite of everything. At least it all worked out, mostly. Moriya... that whole family lost their status and Kiri was just so... quiet about it. At the very least, he could allow himself to have fun. He felt more relaxed, as though somehow the reality of what would happen when they left wasn't there anymore.

Sitting down as Cirika started to question the whole party about what was actually happening, Kei decided that it was best for someone else to explain. Thankfully, Rumiko was up to the task. She explained it pretty well, and Kei focused on eating as much as he could.

"Yeah, you need to find a man who can handle the fact that you could suplex him to death, Rumiko." Kei joked. "But seriously, we really have to leave. Unfortunately, all of us are in this tournament either because we don't want to be, or need something from it desperately. We can't just ignore it. Even if we wanted to. Although we could all just be crazy, simultaneously somehow."

[ Month of Renewal, Haschou Village / The Maplegrounds ]

Wide eyed, Saburo held himself with a truama that he had been familar with for the past months. He looked up to Cirika. "I-I thought we had talked about your f-father doing that...."

It wasn't like he hated being seen as a hero the last while. It was nice, sure, getting nods from stoic men, giggles from gossiping women and high fives from random children. But he couldn't help but feel a little guilty about the fact that he still, at this moment. Didn't know what exactly he had done. He had gotten the gist of it obviously. Stopped coup, traitor nobles being traitorous and all that. But he had never quite mustered up the courage to ask what had happened in that castle. He had said the phrase "Duh, Because I'm Saburo!" enough at this point that he didn't even stutter when he did it.

Alas, they had spent the last months doing tasks and such with Cirika. Numerous times he had nearly shat himself, gotten stabbed, a bite taken out of him or just generally unwanted situations. Still, when he went out it was giving him a better chance to avoid the Dayiamo and Bubblegum. Bubblegum was crazy and the head of the village had a monsterous grip.

Truly, if anything these last few months had given him time to hone his skills of sneak. He wasn't at the level of turning invisible yet. But his Saburo senses had certainly been heightened.

Now, it seemed Cirika was realising their time here was (hopefully) getting to a close.

"I think it's my turn now. I want to help you all out."
"Please tell me. Up until now I've just been depending on all of oyu, but I want to now return that favor. But, I must know more of it, if you may."

Saburo scratched his chin, how would one go about-

"I would not know where to start, but I shall try."

The Pirate Eyes closed in prepared cringe. Rumiko wasn't exactly subtle with revlations.

And she really, really, really...was not.

"What about putting it lightly Rumiko!"
The Pirate King huffed. "We don't actually know about that being the way to get out of here! But..." Saburo looked down guility. "Most of that is basically it....yeah."

He shrugged, to himself mostly. "I'm not Tousawan. The opposite, if anything. So I never read much into your history. B-But...If you do hear us now. We really do need to get out of here. Whether we have already saved you from your..." Saburo couldn't help but look at Kiri. "Assassin. Or not. If that's even what we needed to do. But it's something to do with you."

"Try not to go in shock...pretty please."
