Tsubaha Mori is a Sapien swordstress who lives in the City of Jiaojing. While the city is home to the Wushu Martial Arts school and it's Famed Jiao-Style, Tsubaha practices the Migrant Ikkikari Sword-style of her family. Known for honestly thinking aloud and having a bit of a short temper. Her sword prowess is often tested by the other sword adherents who look down on her for using the style of a people the rest of the country is at war with.

Wishing to be accepted, Tsubaha takes part in this years' Festival of Swords in order to attain the title of Swordmaster from the King himself. However, she and several other participants are betrayed and left at a disadvantage at the start of the Contest. Will she be able to prove herself worthy of such a title, or will her dreams go down with her hopes of winning the Festival...?

A dancing fox Doven who perhaps joined the Festival of Sword as a mistake. Unaware that it was changed to a duel tournament, she entered the festival thinking that it was still a dance performance in respect of Swordmaster Lee. She knew a lot of traditional dances of the Doven community, and perhaps due to this, one may look at her and thought "What is she even doing here in this tournament?". But make no mistake, her dancing abilities have been adapted into her fighting style. Providing a really nice surprise.

Seeking for love, she wanders around the world. Looking for that fated one, no matter what race he is. As she don't care about the taboo of cross race romantic relationship. Perhaps this wish of her could be achieved in this tournament

Rumiko Mitsurugi hails from the former Tousawn lands, daughter to a tribe from the Crown mountain region, before the Eruption and indeed after the girl was gifted to the Kousen sect because of her potential at a very young age to become a Priestess and given her size even at that time lead to her family having trouble feeding her with the rest of them. Over the following years Rumiko would study the Houten Ryu style, showing great proficiency and acceptance of the teachings, putting her on a path of inner peace and bloodshed, which ultimately in the wake of the Eruption and series of wars lead to her killing her own father and needing to collect her brothers own head for crimes at the time. Given this her relations with her mother and sisters are irrecoverable and she does not speak of them.

A Traveling Woman of Faith and Fist, Rumiko has honed her battled damaged body to points beyond what one may consider human, battling Humans and. In spite of her tower and imposing structure she's shown to be a surprisingly gentle woman that enjoys cooking for others, though a bit stingy. In the think of things she is a strong and dependable frontline fighter that does not shy away from violence or endangerment for the safety and security of others, even if her reward is low, her faith is something she wishes to give to others in this trying time and restore some form of hope and stability for the Tousawa and Shang people. While not a requirement she still likes to be paid for her efforts even if it's just with items to cook with. A gentle Bear of a woman that also conceals claws.

Very strong with her beliefs as with body, she is a Champion of the Weak.

Kei Daidouji is a young man with more than enough knives to shield him from reality. Locked up in prison for four years after supposedly killing a noble, Kei keeps those he trusts at arms' length. His indifference and sarcasm is biting, but seems willing to lend a hand -or knife- to the group. One can often catch him whistling to birds or to himself when in a pleasant mood. Those that catch this glimpse of who he used to be are considered lucky.

His wish is something most people would figure would never get granted, but he's still willing to put everything on the line for it. Killing the Crown Prince of Shang is a tall order, after all. Kei pretends he's up for the challenge, but when push comes to shove, is he really willing to go that far...?

The slaver of innocents. The taker of princesses. The being who owns the flying ship. The immortal mortal. Who stole the heart of the sea queen. Who killed a demon and took it’s whip. Sabaro, The Pirate King.
No one really knows where this Sabaro came from. Just that one day him and his crew started to raid hamlets along the rivers. Soon enough, He became a terror that seemed to destroy and take anything that had the misfortune in his path. The title pirate is also a little ironic, as most of his raids happen to be on land.
Shang nobles were quick to put the identity and blame of Sabaro and his crew on being Tousawa Valley Migrants. This had inadvertently led Saburo to become a bit of a hero to the migrants who fought against the Shang.

Cynics will of course point out that Saburo and his crew seem to attack indiscriminately between the Shang, Migrants, Dovens or Safarians. It’s just that his path had simply led to more Shang residences then others. But this had not stopped both sides from placing the opinions on the Pirate.

One infamous incident that placed Sabaro on the very top of the Shang’s wanted list is the ‘Shebu Robbery’. A large town placed on a distributary of the western river. The head of the town, a notable noble in the shang kingdom. Proudly remarked during a speech that if he was the head of the defence force. He would have taken less then a week to find and capture the Pirate King.
The story goes, that a week later during a stormy night. Sabaro had somehow piloted his large ship up the small distributary only big enough for small fishing rowboats. Rammed right up onto the town’s dock. Went straight to the castle and taken the Noble’s daughter. Then gone back to his ship with the girl and somehow gotten out of sight in mere minutes. The fishermen and guards remarked that the only that could have been possible would have been if the ship could fly. This gave to the rumour that Sabaro had a flying boat.
Meanwhile, The noble found a note the next morning on his daughter’s bedside table from Sabaro. It read,
“Seven days to catch me. Or your child shall forever belong to me
Your lovely King, Sabaro.”

The Noble never caught him, and never saw his daughter again.
It was an embarrassment to the Shang Kingdom, it showed weakness. That a Pirate could just rock up and kidnap someone of noble blood just like that.

His rain of terror went on.

Until one day, news was brought to the nobles and townspeople. Sabaro had been caught. The Pirate King found and imprisoned just like that. The news spread like wildfire. The Shang had his man.
So there lied Sabaro in Shang jail. One thing to note however. This person in jail was Sabaro Shanzhai. Who, much to his displeasure. Has somehow been assumed to be the pirate king. Whatever reasons the guards had were lost to Sabaro.
He had first started off with screaming that he wasn’t the man they were looking for. But the Shang guards were being hounded to find the Pirate King. And worse for him, The Pirate King and his crew suddenly disappeared as soon as he was imprisoned. All signs led to him being the Pirate King.
His death by execution seemed to be imminent. Until one night, Sabaro heard a guard outside his cell talk about the Pirate’s famous treasure hove. This sparked an idea in his head.

He had a message for the guards, let him free. And he would lead them straight to that treasure. And, he added. That stupid noble’s daughter and all others he had kidnapped. Who Sabaro had claimed, were all still alive. For now, as who knew what would happen if he was gone for too long to keep order?

Problem was for the guards, there would be an outrage from the public if he was just released like that. And after a very quick conversation where Sabaro discussed the faults of torture and how it was a totally bad idea and they shouldn’t even try. An agreement was had. He would be allowed to enter the festival in a few weeks, as any prisoner could.

There, he would win his freedom. Then lead the guards to all his possessions. And that Shebu’s noble daughter who was still totally alive and well. Winning would be easy of course, since he was the pirate king after all…
And such is Sabaro’s situation. Having to live a role for any chance to survive. If his role doesn’t kill him first.

Noriko is a Sapien swordsman who lives in the City of Jiaojing. Despite being a member of the acclaimed Jiaojing Wushu School, Noriko practices the Nagareruha Sword Style, taught to him by his "master" before she disappeared. While being recognized as possibly the friendliest individual in Jiaojing, many of veteran students in the Wushu School have come to dislike him after he pulled the mother of all pranks that caused the school to shut down for an entire week in the past. They are also wary of his mysterious origins as they know next to nothing about him aside from the fact that he was a former Tousawa Migrant that was brought to the school by an Exiled Tousa swordstress. His particular sword style is often ridiculed and challenged by the students because it belonged to a woman who was seen as a disgrace even by the enemy.

Noriko joined the Festival of Swords hoping to find out any clues about the whereabouts of his master. If anything, the King should know about most of the things that happen within his territory, right? But that wish of his seems to be more out of reach now after he and several other participants are betrayed and left at a significant disadvantage. And with the ghosts of his past threatening to come back with a vengeance, will he be able to find his master and finally enjoy a peaceful life?

As the cherry blossom of the Hanejima family, Tsubaki was highly looked upon due to her gentle personality, her above-average mastery in the Hanejima Iaijutsu and her stern principles in life. Everything was laid out for her, until a tragic incident destroyed everything and deeply scarred her forever.

Now, the white-haired, timid martial pacifist traveled with the klutzy Doven dancer Runara Blazeheart, after she saved her from an ambush, caused by a group of bandits. Owing her life and freedom to the Dancer, Tsubaki made the oath of servant, promising that she will protect her life until Runara decides to settle down. Due to a string of events, the disgraced Hanejima noble found herself as an unlikely participant of Kenno Matsuri, the annual
Festival of Swords.

Will Tsubaki, who is reluctant to shed blood to save herself and Runara from enemies that are more than willing to make dinner out of them, able to survive the deadly battle royale, both physically and mentally unscathed

Known by his honorary monk name, "Rizen of Jiaojing Wushu", Rizen is a wanderer who left his hometown Jiaojing 2 years ago. He is cheerful, honest, outspoken, and overall a good-natured boy. His hot-bloodedness and loud voice might be a turn off for some people, but he is undeniably the one who sets the mood of the party, a beacon for their morale.

The Jiaojing native was once a regular face of the local Wushu school, ridiculously talented and considered the next torchbearer of modern Lee Wushu. He displays strange affinity towards the wind, often "hearing" it "sing", and an uncanny aptitude of adapting to his opponents. However, a crushing defeat in his Festival debut 2 years ago made him left his hometown on a warrior's pilgrimage, embarking on a journey to temper his spirit and complete his self-styled Rizen-ryuu.

Fast forward to present day Jiaojing, another fateful chapter is unfolding as he made a hometown return for the events of Ken no Matsuri. The current Rizen is as cheerful as ever, but he drastically changes whenever he enters a combat, with eyes that look dark and menacing.

What has spurred his return? Can Rizen complete his quest?

A former brigand hailing from the former lands of Tousawan Mountain region, born to a tribe of bandits. As the only other man in the household aside from his father, Kuroi was taken under his wing despite being described as a runt. Striving for years to make his father proud and do what he thought he needed to to take care of his family, that all came to an end when a certain priestess took it upon herself to rid the land of the highwaymen and chasing Kuroi out of his home within an inch of his life.

Entering into hiding, he trained for years, loathing the weakness and insecurity he showed as a boy. Honing his skill with a blade and the element of wind, much as he could in isolation, Kuroi caught wind of the Festival of Swords and decided the time was nigh to show how much he had improved. He would enter this tournament, this one final fight, and acquire what he and the remnants of his family deserve.

Originally a timid, fearful boy, Kuroi only shows remnants of this persona in certain situations with specific people present. One could say that fateful day did him a favor, scaring him away from a life of crime and suffering. However, it could be also argued that it only made him that much more morbid. At one point, he at least held a conscious and cared for others; showing mercy when he could and being rather disgusted with some actions of his group. Now however, his sense of sympathy has become desensitized.

He is a survivor, but one who has tired of simply surviving. Now, he will live

Iris Darkfield is a simple country girl who grew up in a farmer's village on the outskirts of Moonsky. She is known for her hunting skills around the countryside, and has put it to good use while on the run.

After being accused of kidnapping princess Runara, Iris gradually loses hope when the princess's mysterious disappearance draws out. She takes part in the Festival of Swords in the hopes that she can clear her name, however, life had other surprises for her.

Will she finally be able to provide the proof to clear her name?

From the earliest he can remember, Yuan Liwei was just an ordinary boy living in a village on the outskirts of Shang. As the skirmishes between the Tousa Valley migrants and the Shang Kingdom intensified, the village was caught in the crossfire from one of these battles and was utterly razed. Many of the villagers were slain, and the rest fled the village, leaving it behind forever. Hours after the battle, the young boy found himself waking up in the ruins of his home, having been missed as a survivor by those villagers who fled. Unfortunately, he was also the only one. Lost and lonely, Yuan rose to his feet, limping out of the ruins of his village and into the wilds in search of someone. Anyone. After two days of following the river with no signs of human contact whatsoever, Yuan collapsed, believing he'd die there. Cold, starving, and alone.

The next he woke, Yuan found himself staring into the face of a scarred old man. He'd been saved. After a meal and a rest to regain his strength, Yuan watched the old man as he sat down in front of the boy, explaining who he was. The full story of the progenitor of the Tianlong Style wouldn't be told to him for years to come, but for the moment, all the old man told him was that he was a swordsman and hermit in exile. As payment for being saved, Yuan would learn the Tianlong Style and carry on his legacy. The boy eagerly agreed.
Years passed. Yuan trained under the old master and grew strong. As an penniless exile, the old man was often forced to resort to banditry to feed himself and his apprentice, waylaying travelers and taking their goods and money. Considering that he'd been very young when he'd been taken in, Yuan saw nothing wrong with this from the beginning and eventually joined in to take his master's place on days his health failed him. On the eve of his eighteenth birthday, Yuan learned the final technique of the Tianlong Style. Satisfied with the man he had shaped, the old master told Yuan to draw his sword.

"What, boy? Did you expect for me to send you on your way, like some doting father? No. You will duel me, and you will win. This body of mine is failing. Allow me to die on my feet, as a man should. Come, Yuan! Face me!"

The battle was hard-fought, even considering the master's advanced age, but Yuan eventually triumphed, driving his sword through his chest. As his master fell to the ground, smiling, Yuan finally understood. Vowing to carry on the legacy of the man who had raised him, Yuan set off, in search of compatriots he could call his own. Knowing no other life than one of assault and robbery, Yuan fell in with a group of bandits.

Houhou, Nanami was born in Emergent Kingdom of Tousa, hailing from the Ikkikari Tribe. Originally, she and her family was a part of it, but she was the only daughter her father had. Their mother died to an illness when she was very young. Though to some dispute in the Ikkikari tribe because of her father, they eventually left the tribe. They did not see eye to eye with her father, and probably were against his wish to expand the Ikkikari Tribe with more fighting styles than what they presently had.

Nanami had a sweet and caring father. He taught her about honor and dignity. He taught her the way of the blade. Passing down his continued-developed style to her. Though, she never really knew what was going on behind locked doors. Her father was in the middle of something, and that alone was the reason for his death. She was however, not present in their home when he fought for his life. She only returned when he was taking his last breath.

His dying wish was for her to hone her strength and skills, and to help correct his wrongdoings. Passing down the burden he carried to her, other than just the Heaven's Riches Divine Style. It was a traumatic event, but Nanami overcame it, remembering her father's words. She searched his room, and found notes written down by her father. The notes told her about the men who wanted to steal the Heaven's Riches Divine Style and much more. In her quest to correct his mistakes, she killed more than one person who likely had something to do with his death, directly or indirectly. However, she was one step behind the next target, who framed her for a murder she actually did not commit. Despite her hidden crimes, she was imprisoned for something she did not do.

The quieter and more timid twin sister of Ran Yiban, Lan has a shockingly disturbed past, and similarly dismal future of lifelong imprisonment. Though the details of her crime are hazy and distorted by rumors, most accounts - including Lan's own confession - agree that she murdered her abusive mother in a rage-induced fit. Though she seems to lack confidence on all levels, Lan is resolute in fighting for her wish to attain freedom.

From a young age Black has been lost, adopted by family and mistreated by his own species, he has long searched for an outlet to unleash his anger. With the acquisition of a family knife and a promise of a large sum of money, he found his way out, but treads a path of blood and regret. With his own brute force and creative combat style he intends to carve a new name for himself and bury his past.

However, the fool lacks direction once again and steers himself toward the Festival of Swords to compete in the fights and showcase his strength simply to prove to himself that he is the best. The title could mean less to him. With a shattered past and severe sleeping disorder, can this wanderer rise to the top and prove his mettle?

Abandoned on the snowy streets of Jiaojing as an infant and raised by contract killers, Yu Ri is a trained assassin of the elusive Hui Yun Order, known for her skill with steel wires and her voracious appetite. One of the youngest members to be recognized as a fully-fledged assassin, the combination of her youth and her diminutive size has enabled her to approach her work at angles practically impossible for others. In the Shang Kingdom’s underworld, she is known in certain circles as the ‘Blue Robin’, both for her delicate appearance and her ability to easily traverse from rooftop to rooftop.

Less renowned is her interest in poetry and her terrible table manners, as a professional veneer is something that Yu Ri can keep up quite easily amongst her clients. Her latest contract, to slay a talented martial artist, has brought her to the Shang Kingdom’s Festival of Swords. It is amidst the carnage that her task shall be complete, and perhaps, amidst the carnage, this Blue Robin will find something more?

The second son in this generation of the RInko family, Haruki has never had a sense for commerce or any real interest in taking up his own part in the family's expanding trade empire. Instead, he devoted most of his atention to the classes with his self-defense instructor and often skipped out on other instructions in order to spend more time learning from them. Eventually this led to their dismissal though as their presence was deemed too disruptive to the lifestyle the family wanted from one of their heirs. Naturally, Haruki did not take such a response well and has since been at odds with the majority of his extended family.

Still, he now faces an ultimatum handed down from those above his father. Prove himself at the Sword's Festival. Show them that he is more than the riff raff whose skills can be purchased with sufficient wealth. Prove that he is one of the few who can truly stand above others, just like the Rinko family rose above their station, and they will accept his decision to forgo what has placed them in the higher echelons of society. Fail and they will cut off all ties with him and strip him of his family name. If he wants to go against the flow then so be it, but they will not support him mindlessly nor simply because he is "family".

Likes:

Farming: Iris grew up with her parents gardening, soil tilling, pulling weeds, and hunting for their meal of the day. Because of her so many fond childhood memories linking to farming, she gets nostalgic from doing such activities.

Fish hunting: While casting a line and waiting for the fish to bite can be tranquil and serene, Iris prefers to be more hands on. She likes to use her hunter's intuition to search the water and catch a fish with her bare hands or with the tip of a blade. It's much more gratifying than letting some thin wire do the work.

Singing: Sometimes, laborious tasks can be boring. Iris started singing during her chores when she was a child for fun and soon picked it up as a hobby. Since then, she likes to sing a tune when she's alone and working.





Dislikes:

Ungrateful nobles: Many are born much more fortunate than Iris, and she has no problem with that. However, she does have a problem when the rich folk take everything they own for granted or treat it as if it's not good enough for them. What she hates the most is when a noble decides to flaunt their wealth in her face, as if she should be jealous of their undeserving luxuries. She finds these behaviors cruel and annoying.


Pests: Iris has had to steal food many times because of pests and insects eating or destroying her crops. To this day, she despises pests and does not hesitate to kill on sight.


Quirks:

Rambling: She overthinks sometimes, and this could lead to a bunch of rambling while she tries to think of the perfect solution. The rambling is literally her head's train of thoughts but spoken aloud. This can be humorous or annoying, depending on how you see it.

Hair fidgeting: Iris plays with the ends of her hair when she's unoccupied for an extended amount of time. She hates doing nothing and does what she can to find something to keep her moving.


Fears:

Conviction though innocent: Iris had been accused by the Moonsky kingdom of kidnapping their beloved princess Runara. She fears every day of being captured and returned to face punishment for a crime she didn't commit.

To clear her name and live peacefully


Most Embarrassing Moment:


Floppy fish

Iris had decided to one day try her hand at dancing to go with her songs, and maybe one day become a performer. The session ended with her realizing she had absolutely no talent, people laughing when they saw her and her being known as the "floppy fish" for a while. Since that day she decided not to dance again.

Random Sword: Iris quickly realized during her time on the run that she needed a sword to protect herself. So she stole one from some merchant who wasn't paying attention. Random sword, the name she gave it (cause it's amusing), has been her best friend since then.

Techs:


Techs are your character's special arts. Akin to Skills or Artes in certain RPG games. At the start of the RP, your character knows 4 Different 'Base' Techs. Relationships

As in previous Ehb RPs the relationship system helps get initial introductions out of the way. Especially true here since everyone already agrees to work together at the start. How your character feels towards everyone is based upon their own opinion, but can also be affected by what 'Race' and 'Social Class' they are compared to yours.

  • Sweets: Kuroi holds a particular fondness for food in general, but more particularly sweets. Possibly having been an effect of his childhood, he has come to appreciate nourishment, more specifically the fancier, sweeter kind, whenever it is presented to him. A quick way to his heart, even if he makes rather harsh criticisms as if a connoisseur, he, like a pet, won’t forget the hand which fed him.
  • Money: Once again, due to his upbringing, Kuroi particularly fancies wealth. Having to, at one point, fight for it and as of recently scrounge for it, he envies and even somewhat despises those at the top of the hierarchy, for no other reason than that they were born with more fortune than he. However, this also means the prospect of money is something that will be weighed heavily whenever there is a decision to make with it in the equation.
  • Loyalty: While he’s unlikely to explain and isn’t above other morally-reprehensible acts, Kuroi holds the idea of loyalty to a high bar. He loathes the prospect of treachery and if you’ve earned a favor from him or struck a deal with him, you have no worry of if he will follow through or will be swayed by bribery. Brought on by his rather strange family dynamic and mixed feelings regarding his current and passed family members.
Dislikes:
  • Family: A topic of mixed feelings and ultimate resentment. Kuroi doesn’t look back at his time with his family as something fond. Aside from some of his sisters of whom did nothing to him, he sees his now deceased father as a deceitful bastard and his elder sister as a monster. The prospect of family has brought him nothing fortunate; having dragged him through becoming resented and then barely neglected slaying him, he’s had enough of such kinship.
  • Combat: Despite his past and being no stranger to it, Kuroi is no fan of the adrenaline of battle. Though he will not shy away from it in the slightest, when against an opponent of mediocrity, he treats it more as a nuisance than anything else. Otherwise, he participates for the sake of survival and nothing else.
  • Bitterness: As can be assumed with his attraction to sweets, a bitter treat is something Kuroi will avoid. Refreshments such as beer and other hard alcohols are avoided for no other reason than, unless something is added, they hold an agonizingly bitter taste that he can’t understand why some like it.
Quirks:
  • Critic: Whether he is aware what he does tends to piss people off or not, it is a habit that presents itself in whatever situation, whether Kuroi has the expertise to accurately examine whatever is presented to him, or not. He is not shy with his criticisms, whether it is in regards to food, dance, song, combat or anything else. If it’s presented, he’ll likely have a thought on it. With food especially he will behave much like a connoisseur, much to the chagrin of others and the cook. Though this usually causes the misperception that he is unappreciative or doesn’t care for in, which in most cases is completely untrue.
  • Focus: Or lack thereof in certain situations. Kuroi is blatant in what he feels. Should you wish to know his thoughts you simply need ask, or sometimes as has been established he will tell you flat out. If there is nothing to be said, he will show you how he feels one way or the other, mainly if what you’re doing is boring the hell out of him. Often times during long winded speeches, lessons or quiet travels, Kuroi has developed the habit of yawning and staring off into space if what’s right in front of him isn’t interesting enough to keep him on the same planet as everyone else.
Fears:
  • Rumiko: Just a joke! ...Partially…
  • Being Alone: Not in the sense of just being without someone to speak with on occasion. Everyone needs time to themselves, especially if one travels in a group of noisy companions. What Kuroi fears is the idea of being truly alone; no allies, no friends, no family, no companion, no one of whom you could rely on. A fear which he has faced the past several years of his life thanks to a certain someone. While one part of him is wary of putting faith in others, another yearns for someone with whom he doesn’t have to worry.
Wish: Funds to live comfortably for the rest of his life, without having to struggle or worry about the next day, enough funds that he can support himself as well as those sisters he was forced to leave behind years ago.

Most Embarrassing Moment: Back during his family’s reunion with his sister, Rumiko, she killed their father, aiming to end their activities as bandits. The embarrassing part was his attempt at a fight being running away like a terrified child as if a demon had appeared in front of him. His sister was always rather large, and never weak, but it still caused him to run away frightened and crying, quite literally, for his mommy.

Kuroi never had any formal training. Any attacks he performs are either those he’s worked on himself or mimicks from actual swordsmen. Unlike his sister, who can simply brute force everything, Kuroi isn’t quite that strong and as such relies quite heavily on his elemental control to enhance his fighting style, hence most of his skill trees making full use of the wind element. All in all, it is a street style with a mix of cheap techniques one might see urchins or bandits using, as well as more advanced elemental techniques that, while rough-looking in comparison to a trained noble or warrior, is not lacking thanks to some innate talent.

Bandit's Combo Skill Tree

    Sand Slash (LV 1 - Force)

    Kuroi lunges at his opponent, readying his blade to strike. However just prior to slashing, he procures a fistful of particles from his pocket, typically sand or dirt and chucks it at his opponents guise, blinding them momentarily before letting his sword fly.

  • (Arkane Tech - Close)
    Trifecta Disabler (Locked - Force)

    Kuroi charges at his opponent, gripping his blade in one hand and scabbard in the other. He stabs at his opponents feet, then yanks the blade up to bash them in the eyes with the bottom of the hilt. Finishing, he strikes slams the scabbard in between the target’s legs before pulling back.


Fujin Strike Skill Tree

    Wind Palm (LV 1 - Wind)

    Kuroi harnesses the element of wind into his hands, striking his opponent with a flurry of punches at their torso before forming an orb of gust into an open palm and thrusting it into the center of his opponent’s chest, exerting the condensed current of wind in an forceful impact.

    Gripping his blade with both hands, Kuroi slashes with quick succession in a combo of strikes with his sword, using the wind’s current to aid his movements and the flow of his attacks, chaining them together as if they were one.

    A violent gust of wind surrounds Kuroi’s blade. Gripping firmly with both hands, he unleashes the powerful current with a heavy swing of the sword, sending the rampaging gust in a direction, typically destroying the environment in its direct path.

    Kuroi charges his opponent weapon in hand before throwing it forward. The sword, carried by the wind, cuts the target as it passes while Kuroi slips around them. As the current lets go of the weapon, allowing it to drop into the boy’s grip, he cuts a streak across the opponents back.

    Flying Sword Technique (Locked - Wind)

    The wind’s current takes complete control of Kuroi’s blade, operating it as directed by him. It flies the blade directly at the opponent, cutting it with each pass until the target’s skin is stricken with tears and scars before returning to his hand.

    Sky Blade Bomb (Locked - Wind)

    Mimicking some of his other abilities, a current of wind possesses Kuroi’s blade, yanking it from his grasp and shooting forward at the target, embedding itself within the opponent’s chest. The current influencing the blade will then detonate and expel itself while it has impaled the target, exploding with powerful force in a circular area of effect.

Tsubaha Mori: That midget's supposed to be a noble right? Weird she doesn't seem to get along with the rest of her kind. Might not be too bad, but I guess we'll see how long it is before she tries to ride me like a horse. Still, she's supposed to be good with a sword. I might be able to learn something from her
Rumiko Mitsurugi: Ah, the demon... I never agreed with dad handing her off to some sanctuary just cause it was a bit harder to put food on the table, but even then I still saw her as family... So much for that, huh?
Runara Blazeheart: Does she realize...? You know what, not gonna complain, not gonna comment. Wear whatever you want, let's just hope nothing falls out in a fight.
Saburo Shanzhai: People keep callin' him some pirate lord? I'm not so sure about that, but then again if he's that infamous doing what I used to, he must have some tricks up his sleeve. I'll keep an eye on him.
Kei Daidouji: Some shanks and... more shanks... and more shanks... Other than that, he can come across as a major ass with that streak of sarcasm. Not like it gets to me much, though. Sometimes, it's actually kind of funny.
Rizen: Ah, the prude. I don't know what his deal is, freaking out so much when a curvy woman shows up. Pretty excitable towards practically everything, especially weapon techniques, it's pretty obvious he pursues that knowledge out of interest rather than necessity. Wouldn't it be nice to be that carefree?
Noriko Amagawa: Another combat maniac... Though seems like he can appreciate relaxing and not cutting everything in sight. Maybe his reasons for holding a blade are similar to mine; necessity rather than battle-lust. Still... does he have to go talking to every single person?
Tsubaki Hanejima: More nobles... Not only that, this one's one of those perfectionists. That's gonna be a pain. What's weird is how skittish she is with fights. It can't be she just doesn't want to get her pure hands dirty, since she fights, but it looks like she isn't capable of crossing that line very easily. How the hell did she make it this far...
Kiri Moriya: What... What. This is too much... I thought she slept all the time except for really early in the morning, but then that just turned out to be her sleepwalking too! What the hell? How is she even alive?
Ocean Princess Bubblegum: What. The. Fuck. Who the hell are these people and where do they come from? I have to watch my back for Rumiko and now I also have to keen an eye on these lunatics. I don't know what it is... but it seems strong like sis...
Iris Darkfield: Looks... kinda ditzy. At least we don't have to worry about food with her around since she seems to come from some farm or hunting background. Seems a bit too nice and self-doubtful for fighting though. I'm not gonna say I'm an expert, but I do know that second guessing is a good way to bite it.

Likes:

Design & Crafts: A rare hobby of Kaya's is her ability to craft and design clothing and armor. Cultivated from what little her mother managed to impart on her before she was bound to the Mori House. She honed the simple art in spare time over the length of years, from a rudimentary understanding and mediocre skill to become a capable apprentice of the trade. Though, she found little use or profit from the activity until recently.

Charity Work: Using volunteer works as a chance to escape the Mori Household every now and again during the rare times when a bodyguard isn't needed for Tsubaha, Kaya's little times of freedom are inconsistent and basically an extent of her servitude. In spite of this, her volunteer work is sporadic and often revolves around aiding the maintenance of temples and schools. One of the main areas she enjoys working the most however, seem to be at the Wushu School.

Board Games: Since a young child, Kaya enjoyed the activity of playing board games with others. Be that for the reason she would often tower over them in the strategy of each game one cannot tell, but it is clear that she is a enthusiast of them, owning a large amount of board games known through Sapien, Doven and even Saefarian culture.

Dislikes:

The Mori Household: The Mori house receives no respect from their adoptive servant, and their blatant disrespect towards Tsubaha further worsens the issue. In spite of holding no deep hatred towards her own family, the girl still views the Mori Household poorly and despises how they handled the debt owed to them by her own family.

Familiar Visits: Visiting her estranged family is the most daunting experience Kaya faces, and always after enduring the encounter she leaves with her position firmly reinforced. Long exiled to the Mori family in light of an ancient compulsory debt, her "transfer" to the Mori household is a taboo unrecognized by all participants. Done in the most efficient and licit means, Kaya's past bonds were severed by a fake death and later official adoption into the Mori House. Recognized as both deceased and an orphan without any remaining relatives. She is now recognized as a fortunate lost soul taken in by the Mori who must pay respect on visits to her family during negotiations and gatherings. No signs or hints of familiarity or affection are tolerated, by both parties.

Vegetables: Kaya detests the greens... Any kind of them. If it wasn't for Tsubaha forcing her to eat them through noble decree, the girl would throw them out the window during every meal.

Quirks:

Pragmaticism: The rather tragic result of Kaya's life being entirely flipped upside down. From independence to loyal servitude... the girl learned early that life simply isn't fair. Shattering the innocent view she once held of the world, by her entire life being determined in a singular decision which was not her own. The pieces collected eventually formed a cynical, rather resigned person who held the greater good and duty over her own wishes and desires. To Kaya, duty as a loyal servant is valued more than her personal thoughts and objections. For she knows better than anyone, from experience, that life can forever be set in stone and that there is little one can do to change it. The girl will often weight the needs of others over her own, and see the dirty jobs as necessity in light of the ends justifying the means.

Servant Mannerisms: Over the course of her time serving the Mori household, Kaya has become more and more focused on her self-image and status. With time, she grew to resign and accept her place as a servant, which in turn made her see herself as one. While the girl sometimes struggles to draw a speck of individuality to herself, she still acts much like a servant almost unconsciously: Serving others food, refusing to enter areas unless she's specifically told to accompany them and oft times finding a means to be of use by either cleaning or cooking are only some of the examples that showcase the girl's internalized self-image.

Fears:


Disappointing Tsubaha: Acting as bodyguard and servant, Tsubaha's sole duty is tied to the noble lady in more ways than one. She refuses to imagine how it would feel to fail her and due of that possesses an almost obsessive desire to always protect and counsel Tsubaha while the two are near one another. To disappoint Tsubaha or fail her would only worsen her self view and sense of duty.

Fish Markets: A silly old fear of Kaya's are fish markets on the coastal areas of the city. As a young girl, she was made to trek through these markets on her own and the results were that many of the sellers teased and played with her. Although they'd do that to any young child at the time, Kaya was made specially fearful of the things due to her already disgust towards dead fish. This fear only extended itself towards the butchers and fishers of the coast after the event.

Wish:
Freedom. Kaya wishes to be freed from her life of servitude and reinstated to her original family.


Most Embarrassing Moment:
At one point of her servitude, Kaya decided to impress Tsubaha by attempting to cook her favorite dish. Although she was an impressive servant at cleaning and doing menial labor, the girl clearly didn't have as much luck when it came to cooking and, in spite of her best attempts, the result was a destroyed kitchen and a food that ended intoxicating Tsubaha. The only good thing reaped from this event was that Kaya was able to take a whole week nursing her master to health.

Given her bloodline connections to a powerful royal family of military origins, Kaya received rough training in the area of combat early on during her youth. After her adoption to the Mori family, however, she had to figure out how to continue her training on her own and thus started to create her own unique style, sometimes combining what she could catch from the Ikkikari Compound Swordsmanship and incorporating said movements onto the style her family taught her. The result is a technique that revolves around using elemental strikes to enhance physical attacks, abusing the far-reach of scythes and using attacks from higher ranges to confuse and trick the enemy before dealing powerful strikes.

Crescent Swipe

  • Base Tech - Far
    Crescent Swipe(LVL 1 - Force)
    Kaya arches her scythe backward and then performs an upward slash, slicing through anything in the way and lifting enemies caught by the edge of the attack.



  • Arkane Tech - Far
    Half-Moon Slash(Locked - Force)
    User dashes forward, slashing upwards and bringing the target along to the air. While in the air, makes a long slash to bring the enemy crashing back into the ground.



  • Mythic Tech - Near
    Sinking Moon(Locked - Water)
    Creates a brief burst of water from the user's feet, boosting them towards the enemy in blinding speed. When near the foe, the user will then use the momentum to crash the scythe onto the target, striking at them with immense force.



Water Missile

  • Base Tech - Far
    Water Missile(LVL 1 - Water)
    Hurls a series of small highly pressurized water-made projectiles that crash and explode upon the target.


  • Arkane Tech - Near
    Dragon Missile(LOCKED - Water)
    Dashes towards the target before launching them off the air with a powerful swipe of the scythe. While the target is in the air, the user then unleashes a larger version of Water Missile in the form of a dragon that continues it's path even after crashing onto the target.



  • Mythic Tech - Far
    Water Vortex Missile(LOCKED - Water)
    Accumulating a large amount of water around the weapon in preparation, the user launches off their scythe alongside it, creating a rotating wheel of water that, once hitting it's mark, explodes in a burst of blunt force.



Sinister Reach

  • Base Tech - Far
    Sinister Reach(LVL 1 - Force)
    Quickly edging it's scythe closer to their target, the user drags the target closer to them with a simple pull before slamming the blunt end of the weapon upon one of the target's vital points.


  • Arkane Tech - Near
    Dreadful Impact(LOCKED - Force)
    Quickly hits the target with the blunt end of the weapon, pushing them back and stunning them before slamming the edge of the scythe down upon them. The user can then decide upon pulling the scythe to drag the target back or not.



  • Mythic Tech - Near
    Forceful Current(LOCKED - Water)
    Kaya unleashes an enormous amount of water from her hands directly below her, pushing the target away before she surfs down the wave created. Upon getting closer to the target she slashes across them and the water, ripping the wave apart and soaking the area around.



Waterform

  • Base Tech - Near
    Waterform(LVL 1 - Water)
    Waterform encompasses any form of attack Kaya can produce by using water weapons or objects made from water to strike a foe. This being said, attacks from Waterform often consist of using water to crush enemies, drown them or even to produce defensive cover for allies.


  • Arkane Tech - Near
    Water Prison(LOCKED - Water)
    Upon getting close enough to a target, the user can create a prison of water around them through their palm, engulfing the target in a globe of water that damages them and stuns them.



  • Mythic Tech - Far
    Arclight Bolt - Lightning

Runara Blazeheart: A Doven noble? What is she even doing here? Judging from her clothes, she seems like the most clueless girl I've ever seen. I worry for her.
