Lyra was quickly pulled in by the laughing children. She did her best to listen to the lecture but soon she had dashed off to play. She kicked the ball around with the Elf children, seeing how fun it could be.

One of the children fell, the little girl crying about her scraped knee. Lyra rushed over, crouching in front of the girl and winking. "Watch." She took out a flower seed from her pouch and threw it on the ground. A tiny spark of magic was enough that the flower grew right in the middle of the path. Soon, the elvish girl was giggling and Lyra was quick to patch up her knee. "Better?"

The girl nodded and soon was back up and playing.

Vaid and Marri hadn't bothered to stop Lyra from going off to play with the kids. Building relations with these small villages was very important. The two of them walked in through the door on the building. The ceilings were high above them and the room was filled with the smell of incense. Waves of magical energy could be seen as they vibrated the heavy smoke as it traveled though the room. Vaid and Marri stepped around a corner to see the head priest of the village. He was seated deep in a trance as the result of a spell. Around him sat four heavily robbed acolytes, they were all deep in concentration. They had been assigned the job of keeping the heavy magical energies stable and from spreading too far outside of the building they were in. Both Vaid and Marri sat down, startling some of the acolytes. Marri and Vaid very quickly analyzed the spell that was being casted and were able to assist. Vaid reached out to the priest to assist him by enhancing the flow of energy to make it more efficient. Marri became an anchor for the energy. All of the wild and used energy would flow into him where he would then purify it so that it was once again natural energy and released it into the area around him. The acolytes realized that their job was being done for them by a single person and instead shifted to flinging the new purified energy away from the village so as to not attract beasts that feast on magical energy.

Lyra giggled, running around with the kids. Suddenly, she felt something shift and she stood still in her place. Her eyes centered on a dying tree and she looked at the children. "What's wrong with that tree?" She pointed, alarmed when some of the kids shook their heads and backed awaym.

"Cursed. Sister, the tree is outside of the protective barrier...it is said that tree carries the curse from the badlands." The little girl she had previously helped stated and Lyra felt fear creep along her spine. She began to walk towards it, feeling pulled by a force she could not name. "No! Sister!" Some of the kids freaked out, rushing towards the building the acolytes were in.

Lyra ignored everything, her hand resting on the trunk of the tree. Her vision began to black out and she grew anxious. Colors swam before her vision and she thought she could see clouds of poison drifting in the bark of the tree.

Vaid and Marri immediately felt the change in the energies behind the barrier. Both of them quickly gave warning signals to their counterparts and then sealed themselves off from the spell. This would allow the original team of five to complete the spell uninterrupted. Just as they were standing a little ran in. "Please, please, you have to hep Sister! She went to the cursed tree!" The little girl's eyes were brimming with tears and she could barley stand still. Marri and Vaid quickly followed her outside but made sure to only watch. The day would come when Lyra would be faced against impossible odds, alone, and as such she would need to learn how to tip those odds in her favor with what power she has. Though the two were resigned to let Lyra settle this on her own both of them stood at the ready, their magical energies ragging just beneath the surface of their skin.

Lyra groaned, feeling the pain from the tree. Her magic was too deep in for her to pull away now. Instead, it was as if the tree had sensed her ability to help it.

Everywhere Lyra's magic touched was cleaned and purified. The humans would have called her a kami, the elves would have named her a great healer....she knew none of it. She was part of the tree as she purified it and cast the poison out of its leaves and soul.

The tree gave its thanks as healing set forth in its limbs before it shoved her magic away. Lyra's eyes opened with a snap as she returned to her body. Her knees buckled and she fell in a heap beside the tree. All she wanted was sleep but she felt that there was a reason behind the sickness and she was desperate to find it.

Both Marri and Vaid smiled as everyone gasped as they watched the tree slowly return to life. It's darkened and seemingly petrified bark began to soften and return to a deep rich brown, the wilted and grayed leaves began to return to a glorious green and began to bend towards the sun to once again absorb sunlight, all the while black and purple mist slowly drifted away from the tree. Marri walked towards Lyra to help her sit up fully. "Good work, Lyra," Marri said in a proud voice. Vaid walked past the two and stood by the tree. His mouth began to form words but their sounds never seemed to escape the air in front of his mouth before they were whisked off by the wind. Slowly the wind began to pick up around him. As it gained strength it began to swirl around the tree in a circle. Vaid slowly raised his hand towards the sky and then spoke the final phrase in the spell. The wind suddenly felt as though it was blown away from the area and left in its place was a feeling of tranquility. Vaid then went and knelt down next to Lyra, "Good job healing that tree. You were able to force the disease out but it was strong enough to remain intact with itself. Tomorrow I'll teach you how to use natural energies to dissolve a strong disease such as that." Vaid told Lyra as he smiled at her; it was obvious from his smile that he was proud of her.

((Getting ready to ask if I can go on a break, almost called my supervisor Lyra hahahaha))

((That made me smile for the first time today :)))

Lyra nodded, dozing where she sat. "Thank you." She focused her eyes on his face and smiled. "It asked for help...all I did was answer..." she felt sleepy but she forced herself to her feet. She fought off the urge to curl up in a ball and instead began walking back towards the village stubbornly. The plants all turned until they were facing her, offering her their energy and strength.

"No, but thank you." She whispered, waving them away before they could touch her.

Vaid nodded at Marri and he picked her up to take her to where they were going to be setting up camp. The sun was just setting and casting an deep orange glow on everything. By now the crowd had cleared except the little girl who had come to get him. She came to stand by Vaid as he gazed at the tree and the sky. Vaid was shaken from his trance as the little girl put her hand into his. She looked up at Vaid as he looked down, Vaid tightened his hand around hers. "The forest cries, Vaid. It's dying," she said as tears slowly ran down her face. Vaid gave her a big smile and hopped that the little girl would find strength in it, "Yes I know. However, you must keep this to yourself. You, Marri, and I are the only ones who have been able to feel it. Don't worry though, Lady Lyra will save the forest." The little girl's face brightened and she let her hand slip from Vaid's as she turned to skip back to her house for dinner. Vaid's smile slowly faded from his face, 'That is if the forest doesn't consume her mind, body, and soul before she can heal it.'

Lyra wept silently as she was carried by Marri. A sinking feeling had set in her gut and she had no idea why. She felt pain ripple along her body and she tried to push away from Marri. "The tree must still be hurting somehow..."

She felt like every nerve in her body was on fire and consumed with toxins. "Why do I feel like this?"

Marri ran his hand across a variety of spots on Lyra's body. As he did so he sent ripples of energy though her to try and detect anything that would be out of sync with Lyra's personal energy. However, he found nothing. Marri then knew exactly what Lyra was starting to feel, what Vaid and him had been feeling for the last couple of years. The forest was dying, for whatever reason. It was strange though, not even anyone on the council could feel the slow decay. Even the tree they had just seen was the first physical manifestation of the dying forest that any of them had seen.

Lyra sniffled, curling up into a tighter ball and beginning to feel herself drift off. "Ill check on the tree tomorrow..." her energies were depleted and all that was left was her raw magic and a feeling that something was not right in her little world. "I'm probably worrying about nothing..." she yyawned, drifitng to sleep quickly.

Marri laid a light barrier over Lyra to block out other energies so that she would be able to get a good sleep. Marri walked out to Vaid, who was still by the tree. "So it seems that the forest is finally beginning to show signs of its death," Marri said to Vaid as he came to stand next to him. The two of them stared at the tree for a bit and then began to walk about the forest instead of trying to find the source of the tree's illness. "A little girl in this village knows that the forest is dying. We should come back in a few years and check on her, maybe even train her as well. All these years we've traveled and looked for whatever might be causing this disease and can find nothing. No one else can even feel the forest dying. What are we going to do, Marri?" Vaid asked Marri with a touch of worry in his voice. "Don't worry Vaid. We will get to the source of this issue before long, you know we will."

Lyra slept for several hours before stirring. When she did finally wake, it was a groggy wakefulness one would have from still being tired. Her eyes flit towards the tree and she smiled at its new growth.

After the excitement of the first day Vaid and Marri hadn't been able to speak with the priest of the village. He and his acolytes had finished whatever spell they were working on late into the night and as such hadn't yet awoken. Marri and Vaid helped out around the village wherever they were needed. Marri helped out in the fields with bring the crops in. He used some of his magical energy to make his body move faster and allow him to lift large loads. People stared at him in disbelief as he carried three men's worth of crops to the cart. Meanwhile, Vaid ran about the village helping wherever he thought he might be needed. He cured a child of her lung rot, repaired the roof of an elderly man's house, and renewed some of the protective runes around the central housing structure.

The next day Lyra was up and about. She moved more slowly around the village but was aware of the eyes on her. She stopped by the fields, her face scrunched up as she peered at the soil and the trees on the edge of the field. She walked the outskirts of the village, oddly aware of something wrong but unable to determine the cause. She eventually made her way back to the center and decided to sit down and meditate. She worked on the exercises taught to her and soon began to feel something negative in the flora around her. She ignored the stares of the village people and decided to work on the negativity in the fields before anything else.

((Haven't been posting because I lost sight of what I wanted to do with the plot line. Came up with one while falling asleep the other night and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.))

The day seemed to pass quickly and before long the light was fading. Each had spent their day doing their own tasks. Marri and Vaid had spent the day helping out in various places of the village, never really seeing one another. Lyra had spent the day moving from place to place within the village as well as on the outskirts of the village to try and find the source of the ailment within the flora. As the sun slowly dipped behind the mountains, which looked giant even though they were very far away, the three of them returned to the small hut they had been offered to use while they were visiting. Lyra was the last one to walk into the hut, pushing past the think wooden curtain used to cover the doorway. Once inside she saw Vaid and Marri, looking very somber, sitting around a small size fire. "Lyra we know that you've been trying to search for the source of the forest's disease. Marri and I already know the source, please sit. We will explain everything and then we are immediately leaving," Vaid told Lyra, his normal easy going tone was all but gone.

Lyra was aching magically and physically as she had every night since arriving to the village. Her control over her gift as well as her reservess had grown by leaps and bounds since and the flora was flourishing in every area she touched. At Vaid's words she sat heavily and frowned. "What's wrong?" She wondered, the tone of his voice setting her on edge. "Wait, leave? We can't! I still have work to do!"

Vaid and Marri glanced at one another before looking back at Lyra. "Lyra, you can't do anything here. You maybe slowly healing this area but you're also causing those who want the forest to die to look this direction, to look for this village. If the issue is exactly what we think it is then this entire village will be leveled if a battle took place here," Marri told Lyra, his tone was serious. Marri stood up and started pacing without saying much else. "Listen Lyra, we have to go to the source of the problem. Chances are that the issues are being caused by an elemental that has been sealed away and a dark mage."

Lyra felt the room spin. Level this village? All because she was healing a few plants?

"Take me there. Ill end it." Her tone was demanding and serious. She did not care what she had to do, she was determined to save the forest.

Vaid shook his head but Marri stepped in before Vaid could say anything, "Lyra you're not ready. This problem is a very large one. Granted you did a great job healing that tree of the disease, and even seem to be a natural born healer, you're not yet prepared to face this. There are measures we will have to take and this situation isn't as simple as healing something and everything will be fine. We've wasted too much time here," Marri said as he walked towards his portion of the hut to summon the interdimensional portal so they could leave. "Lyra, pack up, and let's leave. Once we are on the road we can explain more. Also, you must learn the lesson of controlling your emotions. I know that you mean well but you also need to understand that if you undertake a spell more powerful than the power you have, the magic will kill you. Mages must remain calm and make intelligent decisions based on the situation before them. We have too much power to be letting our emotions control us." Vaid gave Lyra a heartfelt smile and began his own packing. Marri had finished drawing the runes on the wall to summon the door and quickly made it appear. In a matter of minutes the two of them were ready to leave.
