"Highland hasn't changed…it never does."

At first, they didn't notice.

They came to Highland for the same reason as the others: a stroke of luck, riding high on the prospect of potential prosperity. The clean-cut lifestyle of the town was a welcome change from the grit of the West, a ruthless engine that tended to chew drifters up and spit them out. Somehow they'd landed here, given an opportunity to build a life they'd never had before.

Highland did not come without its quirks. The township's noticeable lack of crime was strange for the area, but could be attributed to the stiffnecked sheriff and his militia of deputies. The townspeople themselves were nice, albeit distant. Not very engaging, but they'd seen pricklier sorts. The curfew was one of the things most griped about, the sheriff's strict admonition about not staying out after dark the one thing that bothered the newcomers. The cracks in the town's perfect visage were there, just barely on the surface. They chose not to look harder than was necessary.

Until trouble came looking for them.

There was a shot in the dead of night. Mere hours upon their arrival, they found the sheriff sprawled on the floor of his own home, life trickling out of him from a gunshot wound in the head. A pistol rested in one lifeless hand. A crumpled piece of paper was clutched in another. The note was brief but the barely legible scrawl screamed with undeniable urgency:

Your days are numbered. We are many.

That night, Highland changed.

We're a small 4-man group in need of more players. No gunslingers, please! We have a ton of those already. We also need more female characters.

If you're interested but unsure how to jump in, don't worry, we'll help you figure it out and ease the process for you. Posting speed is quite slow and flexible, so if you're looking for something more fast-paced this probably won't accommodate your needs. Posting expectation is adept, meaning no one liners (but no novel-length posts, either).

If you have any questions, let us know. If you want to jump right in, here is the SU thread.

I'm interested and I've read the lore thread. I'm still not sure if I'm 100% ready to commit, though, mostly because I'm worried as to what kind of horror this is. I assume asking explicitly would spoil the surprise of what you guys have planned, so I'd just like to ask if you can at least tell me if it will involve demonic forces, ghosts, or anything of that sort. I'm really not comfortable with those sorts of things, so I'd like to know before I put myself in an awkward or uncomfortable situation. Thank you! :D

That's understandable.

But yeah, it's definitely erring towards the supernatural.

Ah, okay. Well, thank you, but in that case I don't think I will be joining. Best of luck in finding some more players! ^.^

So I know your not looking for gunslingers. What about exorcists, grifters, or swindlers who MAY or MAY NOT own a firearm?

Appreciate the interest my dude. Unfortunately, we're not taking any new players anymore (which is my bad, I should have updated this thread accordingly). Best of luck in your rp search though!
