Character Name: Isabella De Santa
Alias: N/A
Faction: Collective
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Birthplace: Isola de Santa Maria, Italy
Occupation: De Santa Family Mafia, Underboss
Appearance: Isabella has a round face with defined cheek bones and a pouty lip. Her nose is somewhat on the large side but not so much as to be a distraction. Her irises are a dark shade of brown. Though she doesn't spend much time in the sun her skin has a natural tan to it. Her black hair is usually kept in a neat bob cut and she typically wears makeup everyday. Her favorite shade of lipstick to wear is bright red and she often overuses black eyeliner. Her eyelashes are always full even without mascara so she sometimes goes without. Her skin has no blemishes and the only arguably unpleasant feature about her face is her nose.
Her body has a rather slim but fit stature. She isn't too skinny but has no noticeable amounts of fat on her body. Even her bust is relatively small. Her legs are notably long, despite her height being nothing impressive, and her feet are of a regular size. When she flexes her arms or legs there is clear muscle definition but it is still easily missed.
Height: 5' 7" or 1.7 m
Weight: 130 lbs or 58.9 kg
Apparel: Her apparel varies but Isabella has a few consistencies in her clothing. For starters she only wears expensive, designer products. As well she typically only wears black or red clothing. On special occasions or out of sheer randomness she will wear white clothing though that is a rare event.
Weaponry: With her many connections it is very easy for Isabella to get her hands on weapons of all kinds, within a few days at any rate. She does have some weapons that she keeps either on her person, at home, or other convenient but safe locations.
- A knife, which she keeps concealed on her person.
- A small handgun, which she keeps concealed on her person.
- A multitude of shotguns, rifles, and even machine guns are kept at various safehouses throughout the city.
- Isabella has access to various explosives though they are stored out of town.
Equipment:
- Untraceable cell phone ; she doesn't know how it works and doesn't care.
- Various Italian sports cars ; live hard, drive fast.
- Murder Diary ; a diary kept at her house that accounts every torture and killing that Isabella has committed, to the best of her memories.
Powers:
- Advanced Cellular Regeneration: The cells in Isabella's body kick into reproductive overdrive when damage is sustained. Cuts and bruises are healed almost instantly. Even broken bones and grievous injuries will be fixed at an incredibly rapid pace. Because of the hyper-metabolism of her body she is highly unlikely to even age. While some otherwise fatal injuries can be neglected there are some limits to the magnitude of her regenerating power. Mutilation, for instance, cannot always be repaired. For example: should Isabella lose an arm she could either re-attach the lost limb and be healed very quickly but if she doesn't have access to the arm then her body is capable of entirely regenerating a new one over the course of several hours to several days (depending on at which point along the limb that it was severed). Decapitation, however, is ultimately fatal as the cells in her head will die from a lack of nutrition before her body can regenerate to the point of regaining circulation. Severe head trauma is still within the scope of her regenerative capabilities. As a note: Isabella has to remain nourished or the regenerative abilities will be hampered. While normal diseases and even biological weapons cannot cause long-term damage, total malnourishment can still kill her. Isabella is still susceptible to pain as her neurological system is always healthy.
- Abnormal Strength: While not particularly stellar, Isabella is stronger than she appears. Despite an apparent lack of muscle mass, the muscle cells in her body are very tight and healthy. In turn she is capable of more strength than normal humans who have to train their muscles. She has enough strength to overpower a fit human but not much beyond that.
- Enhanced Brain Power: As the cells in her brain don't die, Isabella is capable of storing and using more information than the average human. Some of the effects are: perfect/photographic memory, enhanced cognitive abilities, quicker learning, and resistance to mind-altering chemicals.
Skills:
- While not an expert marksman, Isabella knows how to handle and use most conventional weapons.
- While not an expert in hand-to-hand combat, Isabella is trained to use her body as a weapon.
- An incredibly steady hand.
- Ph.D. level knowledge of the human body.
- Bilingual (English and Italian).
Weaknesses: While she is rather difficult to kill, decapitating her and keeping the head separate from the body will surely do the trick. Likewise there are alternatives to killing her, such as simply trapping her or otherwise keeping her in a defenseless and confined state. Though she is strong she isn't strong enough to free herself from being tied to a wall with a chain. Perhaps the most practical method of handling Isabella would be appealing to her psychological state. Her hot-blooded, sadist nature can be used against her better than any conventional weapon can. Though physically torturing her has been proven ineffective, psychological torture is very viable.
Morality: Chaotic Evil
Personality: When you combine arrogance, impunity, compulsiveness, and sadism you get a violent sociopath with no inhibitions. Isabella enjoys nothing more than killing people, slowly if possible. In fact a psychologist would likely label her as an erotophonophiliac, though saying "she gets off on murder" to her face or her family will probably only be met with defensive skepticism. She is largely detached from the outside world, typically doing as she pleases with seemingly no awareness of consequences. Despite her official title she isn't particularly responsible and is actually quite dangerous to even her own comrades and family. When properly motivated, however, she can put on quite the façade and "play nice" with others. Her fearless nature is sometimes admirable but at other times detrimental, usually to her allies more so than herself. Her erratic and unpredictable nature leads many to believe that she is entirely unintelligent but that is false. Isabella simply doesn't use her knowledge to its utmost capacity unless it is a requirement to get something she wants. On occasion she has been known to develop an obsession with something (past examples include: books, puppies, cars, and pigeons) that will last several weeks before she simply changes her mind on the subject and moves on to less obsessive behaviors. Presently she isn't hooked on anything but it is impossible to predict if and when she may start again. It can be noted that while she isn't too picky with her victims she still prefers to kill males over females, likely due to her relationship with her father and the fact that the majority of his men were... men. Isabella has a nasty case of Pavlovian conditioning in regards to certain words. Particularly hearing her own name or the word "listen" seem to garner an angry and often violent reaction.
Bio: Born to mob boss Vincent De Santa on his private island in Italy, Isabella was the youngest of his three children. Her two older brothers, Antonio and Vincent Jr., were already being trained to the mafia way of life. However, as a girl, Isabella had no use in the family business other than to be objectified as something to protect. Her father and brothers lived in America, New York City to be precise, while she remained at the family home in Italy with her mother. The girl's uselessness was re-evaluated when she was nine years old after suspicions of her being superhuman arose.
After her mother's car was hit in a head-on collision with Isabella and her mother inside, it was noticed that by the time emergency personnel responded that Isabella had no detectable injuries while her mother, Gloria, was severely injured. Vincent travelled back to Italy ahead of his vacation schedule due to the accident and when he saw his daughter's condition for himself he believed that she was indeed superhuman. He placed all three of his children in the care of Italian scientist Alberto Gandolfini, a leading scientist in superhuman research. Preliminary testing proved that Antonio and Vincent Jr. were not superhuman but confirmed that Isabella was.
At Vincent's command, he ordered Gandolfini to perform tests on Isabella to find out what she could do, the extent of her powers, and possibly how to recreate them for him and his sons. He took his sons, and this time his wife, and flew back to America to resume business while Isabella was left behind to be tested. The family only returned to Italy three times a year, in which they would visit Isabella. But the entire time they were gone she was forced to undergo inhumane lab tests. It was discovered that painkillers wore off on her incredibly quickly and that anesthetics didn't even take effect so in order to get any research done they had to do without.
After years of this "testing" they did conclude the limits to her regenerative capabilities. But in the process they also provided Isabella with a reason to hate them and her father. At fourteen, after Gandolfini concluded that her powers could not be replicated, Vincent picked Isabella up from Gandolfini and brought her to America as well, now believing that she would have use in the mafia hierarchy. Thus began her training. At first she was against it, as she didn't want anything to do with her father by now. But after she held a gun for the first time and she fired her first shot at the human-shaped target down the range, she discovered that she actually liked some of the aspects.
Isabella learned much and she learned fast. The contacts, the methods, and even the manners. But as she got older and older her behavior became more and more violent and erratic. This concerned her father, though he refused to have her take a psychological evaluation. Instead he sent her back to Gandolfini in Italy to see if her powers had something to do with her escalating behavior. He and his team began testing like before, but unlike before Isabella had grown to the point where she was no longer a defenseless little girl. She could remember the pain of the past tests vividly and had no desire to be cut open again. Instead she decided to do the cutting.
At nineteen she murdered Alberto Gandolfini and three assistants, using the various surgical tools that they had in the room. The violent and gory nature of the kills, as Isabella made sure to torture them first, shocked the De Santa family. Gandolfini's murder was never officially solved as the De Santa family never left a paper connection with the scientist, but the family knew what happened. When Isabella returned to America, she came back with an even more dangerous behavior than when she left.
Vincent knew that it was only a matter of time before his daughter's violent tendencies turned against her own family. Against his wife's wishes, he ordered several Soldatos (soldiers) to escort Isabella on a trip to the New Jersey beach. Instead of taking her home, however, they took her to a shipyard where they attempted to execute her. They shot her in the head twice and dumped her body into the ocean, as per Vincent's instructions. Gandolfini had concluded that she wouldn't be able to survive head trauma as the brain was the primary source of her regenerative powers, but that ended up being false.
After regenerating and waking up several minutes later, Isabella grew furious at her betrayal. She swam to shore and paid a taxi to take her back to New York City. The credit card purchase would've been a warning to the De Santa family had they monitored her bank account. Two days after her supposed death, well after the news of her "mysterious disappearance" reached her brothers and the rest of the mob, Isabella arrived at their Staten Island home. In front of her brothers, mother, and several guards she stabbed her father to death with a fork she retrieved from the dining room. Immediately following that she killed two guards with the same fork before her uncle, the underboss, arrived. Now armed with a gun she took from one of the Soldatos, she threatened the underboss to make the Capos vote her as the next boss.
At this point her brothers intervened, calming her down and explaining to her that she wouldn't be able to run an entire mafia as she had no training in leadership. After some consideration she decided that she wanted her oldest brother, Vincent Jr., to take the ropes and to allow her to be the underboss. The next day when the Capos gathered to vote on the subject, Isabella made a surprise appearance with a surprise shotgun, forcing the Capos to do as she wished. Vincent Jr. was now the Boss and she was the Underboss. It didn't take long before she realized that she didn't like the responsibility of the position, leading to her delegating most of her work to her brother Antonio.
What she did enjoy, however, was her ability to command Soldatos and her freedom to do as she pleased. Both her brothers feared her now, as did the entire mafia. It became incredibly clear that it was best to let her have her way once she started killing comrades for opposing her decisions. She made herself feel as though she was doing work by constantly attending "business trips" with squads. This gave her an excuse to kill almost weekly. Her actions caught up with her once when detectives linked a string of her murders together by how she tortures her victims and witness statements describing the De Santa Mafia as being the perpetrators. Once a sample of her blood was found at the scene of a crime the police received the go-ahead to get a DNA test from Isabella.
She was arrested and administered the blood test, proving her as the murderer. Before she could be properly tried, however, her family paid her bail and had her released. The fact she was given a bail came from the fact that the police did not know that she was superhuman and weren't aware that she could pose a serious threat to the city. Her brothers, on the other hand, knew very well that her psychotic behavior combined with her powers made her a dangerous weapon. Other gangs in New York often refer to the De Santa family as bullies though in reality it is only Isabella that actively seeks violence.
Recently she had received a strange invitation to join a group called the Collective. Isabella was entirely uninterested but her brothers saw value in the opportunity. It would not only get their crazy sister away from them but give the De Santa family a chance at establishing more connections and making even more money. Vincent Jr. and Antonio pleaded for Isabella to join but they didn't make any breakthroughs. It wasn't until Isabella saw a story in the news about superheroes that she decided to approach the Collective.
