ROLEPLAY: OUT OF CHARACTER

ROLEPLAY TALK

  • p-article.png
Articles are essays or informational pieces related to roleplaying, similar to our Workshops.
  • p-interest-1.png
An Interest Check prefix denotes a thread used for circulating a basic RP concept in order to gauge how well it will be received before putting up a fully-developed Out of Character thread, as well as for you to find players who can help you plot and flesh it out.
  • p-plotting-1.png
Think of this as your step two after an Interest Check! If you have an idea that you know will generate interest or have a group of people interested in an RP but don't have the kinks worked out quite yet, you can make a plotting thread as a precursor to your official signup (or fully fledged Jump In RP!)
  • p-resources.png
If you have something useful to share in relation to roleplaying in general, this is the prefix to use!

SIGNUPS & PLOT DISCUSSIONS

  • p-anthro.png
Also commonly known as "Furry" RP. This genre involves characters that are a mix of human and animal.
  • p-apocalyptic.png
For those RPs taking place in an "end-of-the-world" scenario. Post-apocalyptic may also fall under this prefix.
  • p-chatrp.png
Use this prefix to indicate that your RP will take place in one of our live roleplaying chats.
  • p-dnd.png
Attention tabletop gamers! If you're running a dice-based game or setting your roleplay in a Dungeons & Dragons universe, you should use this prefix.
  • p-fanbased.png
This prefix is for any game based off of a popular TV series, book, movie, etc. If the universe isn't your intellectual property, you might use this prefix.
  • p-fantasy.png
Fantasy is one of the most popular genres on the site! If your RP involves magic or unusual creatures, it falls under fantasy.
  • p-historical.png
Historical RPs are based on time periods other than present day.
  • p-horror.png
One of the most provoking genres, horror RPs involve plots that revolve around inspiring fear in your players.
  • p-info.png
Threads with this prefix are usually posted by staff, and contain important guidelines for this subforum.
  • p-iwaku.png
This prefix indicates that an RP is set in the world of the Iwaku Mythos, a series of roleplays where the forum is played as a fantasy world and your character is based on your online persona.
  • realims.gif
Magical realism is a more subtle genre of fantasy where the magical elements are not recognized as being out of the ordinary.
  • p-mature.png
For roleplays that will be played in the Mature Roleplay subforum (if you don't know what PWP means, you probably shouldn't be reading this!)
  • p-misc.png
Can't find a prefix that fits your RP? It falls under Miscellaneous!
  • p-modern.png
Modern roleplays are those that take place in present-day and do not involve magical or supernatural elements.
  • p-modfan.png
ModFan is an abbreviation for Modern Fantasy, and indicates a fantasy RP that is set in a modern, urban world.
  • p-modsci.png
ModSci, similarly to ModFan, is an abbreviation for Modern Sci-Fi. This genre of roleplay has science-fiction themes without a futuristic setting.
  • p-mythos.png
Like RPs with the Iwaku prefix, these RPs are set in the realm of "Iwaku World", but directly relate to the established "canonical" Mythos of previous Iwaku RPs.
  • p-otherworld.png
This prefix indicates a roleplay that involves interdimensional travel.
  • p-private-.png
Any roleplay with a Private prefix means that it isn't open to anyone who hasn't been invited. If you haven't talked to the person running it, don't post in this thread!
  • p-reality.png
Roleplays with the Reality prefix focus on modern-day characters in plausible situations.
  • p-romance.png
An RP focusing on the romantic tension between characters falls under this genre and prefix.
  • p-scifan.png
Short for Sci-Fi/Fantasy, this genre is a mix of scientific and magical themes.
  • p-scifi.png
Sci-fi, or science-fiction, is a genre concerning advanced technology and often other planets than Earth.
  • p-socialize.png
Roleplays under the Socialize prefix are those that involve purely character interaction, e.g. a bar or club setting.
  • p-spacesaga.png
Spacesagas are a subgenre of science-fiction revolving around interstellar travel and themes of adventure.
  • p-steampunk.png
A popular genre involving the evolution of steam power instead of electricity, often using Victorian England as a setting or influence.
  • p-warepic.png
Those RPs taking place on the battlefield and involving military or political themes can be classified as War Epics.

JUMP IN ROLEPLAYS

FANTASY/MODERN/SCIFI ROLEPLAYS

  • p-private-.png
Any roleplay with a Private prefix means that it isn't open to anyone who hasn't been invited. If you haven't talked to the person running it, don't post in this thread!
  • p-seeooc-.png
Most In Character threads will have this prefix. This just means that this game has an accompanying OOC (Out of Character) thread with plot information and character signups in the Signups & Plot Discussions forum.

MATURE ROLEPLAYS

  • p-group-1.png
Although many Mature RPs are one-on-one between two partners, some involve a group of players on the same scale as any other RP. This prefix is used to differentiate such a roleplay from the one-on-ones.
  • p-info.png
Threads with this prefix are usually posted by staff, and contain important guidelines for this subforum.
  • p-needpartner-.png
This prefix indicates a one-on-one RP where the thread owner is missing a partner to fill the opposite role.
  • p-private-.png
Any roleplay with a Private prefix means that it isn't open to anyone who hasn't been invited. If you haven't talked to the person running it, don't post in this thread!
