A Gentleman's Fee

Sandov's eyes widened a little at the request, never having encountered someone who would pay so much to reserve their little Adette for a whole week in that manner. Adette was their youngest and most innocent Waitress and had freely expressed her discomfort in having sex with the clients which is why her fee was the highest. Nonetheless, he took the card with a smile and a nod of his head.

"Very good, sir, if you insist. My dear Adette, what exactly have you done to romance this man into reserving you for a week?" the owner asked his employee with a cheeky grin.

Adette, having gone silent with her mouth open and her eyes wide after hearing the request from James, shook her head slowly in disbelief.

"I...I don't know."

"Nevertheless, you did good, Adette! I will run your card and reserve her immediately for you, sir," Sandov replied before walking away momentarily.

James smiled at Sandov and once he had left felt it safe to talk to Adette. "Don't worry about me, I know that was a crazy thing I just did, but it should keep Morris off of you, maybe for a long time. I hope I didn't act to boldy. I don't mean to upset you. I planned on coming here tonight and never again. But now...now I think I've found a friend. You have no idea how hard it is to find an honest person in my work field. I know it's rash, but you are different than anyone I've ever met. You are kind considerate, and most of all you are genuine. Ha, look at me, I sound so hopeless. Would you like to return to our seats. We have a whole evening to enjoy afterall." He smiled and gestured to follow him.

James was always one to burn money with his purchases. Anyone who spent like he did, in any other profession, would surely go broke. However, he always seemed to find fluke deals, which weren't much a fluke to him, that would make him very lucrative. Deep down he felt like this was his best purchase yet....friendship. Although he did feel something more. He didn't pay much attention to it though.

Adette recovered from her shock, but now felt more confusion than anything. She could understand why it would be hard for him to find real friends, it was hard for any business man to find real friends; James was so sweet and he seemed so trusting, people would eat him alive if they could.

She followed him back to the table and sat with her client again, staring at his face and wondering...what life had put him through. When he was seated comfortably next to her, she reached out and placed her hand over his to get his attention.

"Thank you, James," she said sincerely with a smile, tightening her grip on his hand, "I don't know what it is...but I feel something with you. You've saved me...and I am in your debt."

" Just be my company, and the we will call it even." He put his hand on hers and gave a warm smile. The night was finally over and the two had spent it all together. James had to leave because of work in the morning. He button his coat up as he prepared to leave. "Adette, tonight was about the most fun I've had since I can remember. Would it be too much to ask for a second night tomorrow? My reservation keeps you free from other men, and I hope that would apply even if I were absent. Money is money and I think Sandov is a man that understands that." He put his hand on her shoulder. "This may be forward but you have changed me Adette. Changed me for good. I won't forget this." He leaned in and kissed her forehead.

The young woman nodded at his words, smiling happily as his lips brushed over forehead. She grasped his hands in hers and moved swiftly to plant a gentle kiss to his cheek.

"I would be more than happy to serve you again tomorrow, James," she replied, still holding tightly on his hands, "This night has been...revitalizing for me. I've never met a genuine man like you...and I cherish our friendship."

She curtsied to him, slow and proper, before standing straight to beam up at him.

"Until next time, James."

James spent the next day excited to see Adette. He flew through his meeting and the night couldn't come soon enough. He drove straight home from his meeting and prepared for the night. He felt that wearing expensive clothing was not a requirement for Sandov's so he decided against a suit and instead would wear casual wear. He put on a dark grey wool sweater and some faded jeans. He put on some expensive sneakers, about the only thing that costed more than 100 dollars. He put on his gold watch and sprayed his finest smelling cologne. Subconsciously it appeared as if James was trying to impress someone, but he wouldn't notice anytime soon, as he continued to make himself look his best, without have to wear expensive clothes.

Another night at Sandov's was under way and while her company had been reserved for only James, Adette was still required to help serve the other clients until the man arrived. She did nothing more than quickly serve up their drinks before disappearing like a shadow before they could detect her presence. That night, even though she still wore the flirty uniform required when being a Waitress, a short full black skirt with white underneath it and a tight off the shoulder top along with an apron that was for nothing more than show, she prettied herself up just a tad more than she normally would. She let her hair down, which was a rare sight for her, and let it curl past her shoulders with a green rose pinned into it this time. She wore eyeliner and eye-shadow to make her silver eyes pop and spritzed herself with her best perfume. Was she trying to impress someone? Maybe. Was she going to tell anyone? Not yet.

She kept glancing towards the entrance into the parlor room where the clients gathered for the show, eagerly waiting for James to walk through it. She began to feel nervous that she had perhaps looked like she was trying to hard to impress him, that eye would frown upon her enhancing her own beauty to look more presentable. She bit her bottom lip in doubt and tugged on her skirt.

'I hope he likes it...I hope he still shows up,' she thought to herself, skipping off again to serve another customer.

James had arrived later than he wanted. He had got caught up in a business call. He entered and took in the environment. He felt much more relaxed in his attire and it reflected his attitude. James was calm and easygoing tonight. He looked around for Adette but she was nowhere to be seen. He shrugged and knew she would show up. He found an empty seat by the wall. James adjusted himself until he was comfortable. It was very busy compared to yesterday and it was hard to even hear himself think. Once again he shrugged it off.

Another Waitress that had been looking out for James per request of Sandov, the man taking an obvious liking to the new customer since he had paid to reserve Adette for an entire week on his first visit to the club, spotted the client and immediately ran to fetch Adette.

"Adette, your client is here!" she informed her coworker, smiling kindly at her, "Show him a fun night!"

"Um...sure. Thanks," Adette replied with a strained smile, though she knew that James expected nothing more from her than good conversation.

Setting her tray down, she straightened her uniform and made her way over to where the other Waitress said James was sitting. A smile slipped into her face as she studied his appearance; as handsome as he looked all dressed up in his expensive suit, she liked him better in his casual clothes. She approached his table and curtsied politely.

"Good evening, James. It's a pleasure to meet you again," she greeted him, her hands clasped behind her back.

"The pleasure is certainly all mine miss. Please, sit." He pulled a chair out and gestured to sit. "How was your day Adette? If you don't mind intruding on your life. I would love to hear about it." The smile he wore yesterday returned in full force. He could not wait to spend another evening with her. It was all he wanted. He felt a strong connection to her and secretly hoped the feeling was mutual. James had a rough meeting and the call which held him up was even worse. He wouldn't let her know but he needed a friend tonight of all nights. He was good at faking a smile and although he was beyond happy, in the back of his mind he worried about business. He would feel rude to let it interfere with the night.

Adette stared at him for a long while, studying his features attentively before she shot up from her seat.

"Hold that thought," she said as she ran off, leaving him at the table.

A minute later, she came back with a small tray on which sat two drinks, one a lemonade and the other a Swedish vodka with cherry soda. She smiled at James as he looked at her curiously, handing him the alcoholic beverage with a laugh.

"You looked like you could use a favorite drink and I remembered how much you liked this drink yesterday," she told him, sitting down again.

She then wrapped her hands around her lemonade and thought about her day; "Well...my day was actually pretty nice. My mother seemed to be well enough to leave the house, so we went for a walk in the park, then out for some ice cream. She wanted to see the kids at the shelter, so I took her there next; the kids were so excited to see her and she was so happy to see them that she started crying, hehe...I'm glad she's feeling better."

James smiled with satisfaction. "I am very happy to hear that. It's always grand when things work out." He took a sip of his drink and then heard his cell phone ring. "Damn, I swear I put this on silent. I am terribly sorry I will only be a moment." He jumped up and ran outside, being as it was the only semi quiet place. It was a friend of his who arranged part of his meeting. "James the men who's part we took are claiming who took it without consent. They are threatening to take it to a higher authority. We don't have any evidence to go against them. This was an oral agreement with no witnesses but you and me." James became furious. "Are you kidding? That is bullshit. I won't deal with this right now. Call me tomorrow." He hung up and walked back in, returning to his seat. His face showed he was angry, and he tried to play it off but it was going to be hard. "I-I am sorry about that, it was unfortunate and disrespectful to you. It won't happen again." His smile did not appear as it usually would have.

"...No, it's fine," Adette replied after a moment of staring at the man, her brow furrowed on worry.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, Adette warily watching James' angry expression before she decided to make a move. She stood up and took his arm in her hands, pulling him to his feet.

"Come with me," she said, leading him away from the din of the room. They walked down a long hallway away from the parlor and came to a set of red double doors.

Fishing around in her apron, she produced an ID card that she swiped in the slot next to the doors. A series of lights went off and a small compartment opened. Adette leaned down and placed her eye in front of the compartment, a light blue light scanning the iris. The compartment light beeped green and the double doors opened for her. She pulled James through and they found themselves in front of another, brightly lit counter where a young woman stood, gazing at Adette curiously and then at the man she was with. The woman smiled cheekily at her and leaned over the counter.

"My, my, Adette, was there finally a man willing to pay your fee?" she teases the young Waitress, "There was no escaping this one, was there?"

Adette strained a smile and shrugged, "I guess not, Pamela. Has anyone reserved the Waterfall Room?"

Pamela shook her head and stood straight, leaning towards the cupboards stacked behind her and producing a silver key from one of the cubbies. She presented it to Adette with a grin.

"Don't get too wild, now. You'll have to get up some time tomorrow, heehee."

Adette shook her head at the woman and took the key with thanks before pulling James down the hallway next to the counter. They walked in silence for a few more seconds before they came to a door with a lovely waterfall painted on its surface. The Waitress opened the door and pulled James in before locking it shut soon after. The Waterfall Room was exactly that, a room that signified the calming effect of water as the gentle sounds filled the air. It was relaxing and tranquil, Adette moving to escort James to the bed. Her intention was not to sleep with him, but to get him somewhere peaceful since his spirit had obviously been angered by that phone call. She wet to the mini bar and stirred him a whole new cup of Swedish vodka and cherry soda, sitting next to him on the bed with worry and concern in her eyes.

"I like this room," she told him after a moment, smiling to try and dispel his anger, "It calms me down when I'm having a rough day or night; maybe it'll do the same for you...Do you want to tell me what it was that made you angry?"

She places her hand on top of his reassuringly.

James was surprised by the whole situation. The room did seem to ease his anger, and her smile warmed him just as it had the other night. "It...it was bad business. That's all." James took his drink and sipped it. "Thank you for looking after me, this was a clever idea you know?" He laughed a little and set his drink down on a small table next to the bed.

"So, what now?" He said, scanning the room and it's features. He really did enjoy the room. Being alone with Adette was what really got him. Not for the obvious reason of sex, but because the main room was loud and full of filth and greed. At least he though so. Here it was quiet, simple, and quiet beautiful. Although James saw Adette as the most beautiful part of the room. It was weird, but he felt as if he was seeing her as more than a friend. It couldn't be, right?

"You, you look very pretty, by the way." James said with a slight blush.

Adette felt her cheeks growing warm and glanced away quickly I avoid stuttering when she started talking. She had hoped he would like it and wouldn't think she was trying to be like the Seducers. She ran her fingers through her dark hair and laughed lightly.

"Thank you," she replied, "Looking bad at him with a smile, "I actually like your look today more than yesterday. I mean, you look great in the suit, of course, but...the casual look really suits you because you look so comfortable and relaxed."

She stared at him for a moment, her heart feeling fuller and fuller the longer she did with an emotion she didn't know she was capable of feeling yet and still wasn't aware of, before she realized that se was indeed staring and tore her gaze away. She stood up and faced him again, her hands behind her back.

"As for what to do...well, I guess that's up to you, James. It'll probably b best if we stay in here for a little while so it looks like we did something, but there are movies in here and there's the bar so I guess we could have a drinking game or...we can just continue to sit and talk. Remember," she reached forward and placed her hand on his cheek, a warm smile spreading to her lips, "I am yours for the entire night if that is your wish. You reserved me for the week and as a Waitress, my duty is to serve you."

"I'd like to think as you as friend, not a waitress Adette. We can do whatever you want. What ever makes you happy, will make me happy." He got up and grabbed her hands and placed them at her sides. "You don't have to act like you're at work, I mean you are, but you don't have to for me. It's unfair. We both should be relaxed, not just me." He smiled and went to the mini bar. "You want something more than lemonade. I won't tell." He winked and took out some different beverages to mix. He waited happily for her answer. James wanted so much to make her feel like she was at Sandov's.

Adette stared after the man, smiling in true joy as she shrugged, "Well, in that case."

She then bent down and unzipped her ankle boots, slipping them and her socks off her feet before wiggling her toes in the carpet. She grinned at James and laughed happily.

"I've always been more partial to walking around barefoot. It makes me feel...free," she told him, scratching the back of her head nervously, "That...sounded weird."

She then made her way over to the bar with him and smiled, "I want to try that Swedish vodka cherry soda you like getting. Is it really that good?"

James laughed as she took her shoes off. She was acting very cute in his opinion. "It is very good, here." He handed her a drink and took one himself. " Here is too friendship, you've made me a happy guy Adette. Im truley thankful." He smiled and took a drink. It felt wrong, but James wanted to be more affectionate with her. Of course that was the intent of reserving her according to Sandov, but the reason for James was different, at least before. She was beautiful and every move made him more and more attracted to her. His stomach fluttered and he became weak on the knees. "So, uhm, we could surely talk if you want, ha" He started tripping on his words and acting like a little boy with a crush. He tried his best not to but it was inevitable.

Adette took the glass of vodka and soda from James and stared into it for a long while before braving herself up and taking a sip. She was sure that if they were doing what her boss thought they were doing, then it would definitely be alright for her to drink a little alcohol with her client. She felt the sweet bubbles flow down her throat, the feeling making her giggle when it tickled her tongue. It definitely was sweet with a slight kick to it that she enjoyed.

"Wow, this really is good!" she said with stars in her eyes, looking up at James with a smile, "How did you even come across this type of mixture anyway?"

She took his hand without thinking much on it, sliding her smaller fingers to grip his, and lead him back over to the bed. She sat them both down as they drank their drinks, Adette sitting closer than she probably would have had it been anyone else but James. She looked up at him with her pretty silver eyes that had started glazing over a little bit, the scent of his cologne invading her nostrils and making her swoon.

" I was at a party with some of my friends. Usually the vodka is to be mixed with basic soda but there was none available. The only thing I could find was cherry flavored and I went for it. It was delicious and I never went back. I also never told anyone, not that it would be a big secret. You're the only other person that I have seen drink it!" He smiled and laughed.

James placed his hand on hers, practically subconsciously. Her hand was small and soft and he felt comfort. He blushed at his thought of further contact with her. "Damn, James, get yourself together!" He thought as he gazed upon her. His reservation entitled her to do anything he wanted, but he would never compromise what they had, not to Adette. He shook it off, he was a bit buzzed and a guy sitting next to a beautiful woman, of course these thoughts would run rampant through his mind.
