A Farewell to Lenaire

Name: Merle Grey
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: He is a lanky man who stands at approximately 5'11 and is barely more than skin and bones. His muscles are all but nonexistent and you can count a few of his ribs on his hourglass figure. His face is angular and gaunt and trimmed with a neat goatee. Some would even consider him pretty, especially with his pouty lips. The top of his head is capped with a messy crop of black hair while the rest is shaved down. His eyes are sharp and blue-grey in colour. Upon his left breast is a brand scorched into his skin in the shape of a crossed arrow.

Personality: Merle enjoys being in the spotlight and an object of desire. His deepest wish is to be wanted and safe. Of course a few little baubles never hurt. If someone can provide him protection, who is he to complain however they treat him. He has a knack for getting into trouble, but often finds a way to wriggle out of it, often leaving others in a tough situation with a small smirk. He is vindictive and plays cruel tricks on those he thinks he can get away with it, but is otherwise cowardly and hides behind the biggest man in the room. He is fickle in his attentions and tends to be attracted to new curiosities all the time. The one thing others can say is a true virtue of his is his compassion for animals and love of Vosko. This is one of the few things he can be moved to bravery for.

Backstory: Merle was born to a family in squalor who indebted themselves to the wrong people. While he does not know of the official state of his kin, leave alone his real familial name, he hears tale from those around him that they attempted to make a plea to pay off what they owed by giving their baby, him, to the Crimson Arrow. The boss of the murderous entourage that deals in drugs and human trafficking boasts that he rescued the wee babe from them and posted their heads on a lamppost. Merle is not sure how much he believes, especially considering he could see himself resembling a number of whores the boss keeps on retainer... and if he wasn't mistaken, he might just have his nose, but scrutiny gets him nowhere and part of him dreads to think of any of the cutthroats as dad.

His childhood growing up among the Crimson Arrow was what you would expect from being raised by thugs and whores. Mugs thrown at him to fetch more ale, tending to some human breeder who was overdosing, and eventually being sampled as product himself. He does not remember much of these events. All he tends to know is he comes to, covered in bruises to a familiar rotten smile that he sees on all their faces.

Merle is coming to realize one of these times, he may not come back to after the abuse as one of the Arrows may go too far. He fears that he might end up in some gutter, a whore who no one cares for... Or worse, turned out onto the street as his looks fade. He knows alone, he will not make it far, not with his secret and not in this city. He just has to wait for an opportunity to present itself.

I'm always impressed with Temp's ability to format a CS. I think we'll see a lot of newcomers copy this.

@Tempest, accepted.

Victor Wellmore

Age:
36

Gender:
Male

Personality:
Victor is a rather hectic busybody with apparently no personality. A hard-worker and prone to being a bit of a dullard he does little to overly endear himself to people. A bit of of dry humour keeps him from being too dull to be around, even if he is unremarkable.

Backstory:
Victor came from humble beginnings, shorthand for being virtually homeless, but did well enough to impress a man of business named James Havordshire with his head for numbers to pull him up from that role and put him to work as a minor accountant. His history in fact seemed to be more of the same, Victor went to work for the twelve hours a day expected by his employer, went to the pub before going home slightly buzzed (from booze or a good fight) and returning to work the next day.

Traits:
A Busybody of Business:
Victor is an apt businessman, hardly a giant at it, but more than adequate enough to do his job well without being thrown onto the streets. He is, what some might call, a yes-man and thus .. fails to stick out significantly at all. One of many such men that are employed by the greed-obsessed elite. Indeed, he seems constantly busy and some might even call him work-obsessed, however he simply doesn't stand out enough for most to remember his name let alone the man wearing it.

Blow off Steam:
Victor, like many such men, likes to blow off a bit of steam after work and has been known to hit the pub and get into the occasional fight with workers, typically bar room brawls where he shows an exceptional skill at improvised violence against his fellow bar fighters as well as quite the skill for abandoning a bar fight before the bobbies show up to club everyone into insensibility.

@Zella, looks just fine to me.

Once I have my characters up that'll make 8-9 party members, and I'd say that's plenty to start with.

Name: Kyne Hardwin
Age: 43
Gender: Male

Personality: Kyne has, like many others lived a hard life, he's just lived it longer than many of those in the lower class. As a partial result of this he has something of an analytical outlook on life and can sometimes be a difficult man to approach. He will speak up when he thinks his input could be helpful but will otherwise tend to refrain from idle chatter, you tend to draw less attention if you appear to just be minding your own business after all.

Backstory: Kyne's story is only a little different to most of the others in the lower class in Lenaire. Born to the upper middle class Kyne had the benefit of a decent, if limited, education in his younger years. Learning his letters and numbers, a little of history and other basics of the education system available to him. Kyne studied by day and worked in his fathers shop come afternoon before helping his mother with the household chores in the evenings. Working hard was a principle drilled into him early in life and it served him well in his early teens when his family fell from grace and wound up scraping for food on the streets in the slums.

Kyne learned quickly on the streets that survival wasn't so much a matter of what you knew, but who you knew. His ingrained work ethic and willingness to do what needed doing saw him move from odd job to odd job, helping people wherever he found he could be of service or a little food or other supplies he and his parents needed, his knowledge of numbers and letters meant he was able to assist in area's where many low born were unsuitable and it netted him more than one 'friend' over the years. Eventually the life took its toll on his parents and Kyne was left alone by his late teens, making his own way where he could.

These days things are little different, Kyne has learned more skills and met more people, always trying to keep a line of dialogue open with those that have treated with him fairly on the chance more opportunities for work or favours open up. but for the most part he lives a comfortable life compared to most, he eats regularly, if not well, his clothes while often a little dirty are usually in good repair due to his ability to sew and occasional access to materials needed. Most importantly to him however is that he has a place to call his. While only a small loft in a shopkeepers attic, the roof doesn't leak and is not particularly draughty and the linens are vermin free.

Recently however he has been dreaming of the bed he had as a child, the home, the life. He may be better off than most in the lower class now, but having known the higher lifestyle he has started to wonder if he might ever have that again. Which has in turn prompted him to start figuring out how he could have that again.

Name: Kailyn "The Andor Hellcat" Andor
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Appearance: Unassuming for her strength, Kai is only roughly 5'2" in height. Undoubtedly, she is well toned, her muscles defined, being able to afford to eat well unlike many others, but they are still well-enough hid under layers of clothes. Her hair is razor-cut at different lengths, having a number of braids on one side. It is a dark brunette with silver streaking through it, despite her relative youth. She dresses in finer clothes and ever present on her person are steel bangles around both her wrists and a pair of heavy fur boots.

Personality: The first thing most notice about Kailyn is that she possesses the social capacity of a brick. Not just any brick, one that has been used to bludgeon your face before being placed in your mantle to remind you of your place. She is vicious, bitter and possesses a vast superiority complex. She struggles to relate to most and looks upon the ruling class with anger, disgust and aspiration. She rejects that she is one of the dregs of society and is sure that someday, somehow, she will see that they pay for what they have reduced her house to. Though they be of the common class, her family does not live in such a manner. Kai, like those before her, squanders her winnings on frivolous things to make her life more comfortable. She, herself, is a lover of art and books.

Backstory: Kai is of the Andorian line, a noble house once among the core of society. The house came to ruin when it was suggested by a competing house that the head of one of the lines was a wielder of sorcery. Despite no evidence of this, whispers were abound and could not be squashed. It came to be that, for their alleged crime of magic, the accused line was executed. Despite the removal of what was believed to be the magical menace, there was doubt cast upon the house of Andor as a whole. They were traitors for harboring magicians or tainted themselves. Their business ties were cut, their resources removed, and their estates seized.

The Andorian line was forced onto the streets and many did not have the constitution for the harsh conditions. If they did not fall prey to the environment, they succumbed to suicide. In the end, only a few remnants, the true fighters of the family remained. Most abandoned the name and attempted to take to the shadows of the cities and acclimate. Kai's ancestor did not. They seethed and roared that their time would come again. Cast a nutter, a drunk bar patron attempted to shut them up himself. The patron did not make it out alive.

From there, the line began to become associated with their wrathful nature and brutality. It was as if they were born to it. They were invited to fighting circles in order to test their mettle for a fee. It was a golden opportunity that gave them a chance to flourish once more. Though they made their own small fortune, it was never enough to drag them out of the drudgery. Between their need for extravagant living and the endless cycle that damned them to the pit of the common class, their money never lasted long.

Kai as well has made her own name in this manner. Fierce... And more than a little lucky. No one has yet to more than graze the Hellcat, leave alone beat her. Suit her as this life of competition is to her, though, she bears her name like a curse. With a fire in her belly, she yearns to strike back at the noble class that dared snub them. She just needs to figure out how.

Alright, IC will be up in 2 days, and from there the story will begin from there. Hope you're all still present and excited.

Stole from Tempest. Such an act is tradition at this point.

Name: Quinn
Age: 24
Gender: Male

Personality: Loud-mouthed and thinks himself terribly clever it's no surprise that he often finds himself at odds against those who believe they know best. Quick to anger, and often forgets he doesn't have the muscle to back up most threats he tends to make rather rashly, Quinn is almost constantly in some form of danger which almost always ends with him fleeing in the opposite direction when the table inevitably turns against him. Luckily enough that series of events works fine for Quinn who would rather run for a lifetime than face even momentary pain or discomfort. In the past some have called him coward or craven, but the truth of it is more of an extreme concern for his own well-being and a lack of interest in what others think of him.

Backstory: By all accounts Quinn has always been a bit of a lost cause. Constantly late to almost any event, and with the kind of demeanor that is notably absent, it wasn't long before his tardiness led to his expulsion from school and with it a chance for a normal life of petty begging and crime. Like many children around him he's never known his parents. Being raised as an orphan was difficult enough, unsure who he really was, wandering through life without guidance and fending for himself.

He made due with the skills he had: he was young, lithe and desperate. He found if he could put enough distance between him and the more elderly food vendors he could make out with at least a meal for the evening. It was this necessity that stirred in him his quick feet. On level terrain he's nearly untouchable. A skill like that doesn't go unnoticed, and luckily in his case it was noticed by the right man. Lee Taures approached Quinn one fateful afternoon in the marketplace and promised him more.

How could a boy who's known nothing turn down an offer for anything? He quickly found that while life with the Runners was better, it was a long way from idyllic, but it was finally a choice he had made and remained faithful to the faction to this day.

Heh, might have to go back and change my format to match. I normally don't bother with all the fancy stuff - putting a border around a CS is about as far as my coding literacy goes - but if everyone's gonna be all matching I can't fight against the conformist inside me.

Looks like we got a cool cast here, this is gon' be a good one!

Taking a sick day, but the final draft will be done by then~

The source is still fairly popular today, even among younger people. My sister went to a showing of it on Halloween this year, almost exclusively high school and college kids in attendance. :P

Seems it skipped a generation then, most of my generation give me blank stares when i make a reference to it, yet my parents were right into it.

@Tempest, I probably should have mentioned that Kaiyln is accepted.

On another note, yes the IC is coming don't let the madness take control it shouldn't be much longer.

With all the references going here atm I hate to think what our first few IC posts will be like..... almost fits the setting even....
