In this world video games are popular because it is an easy way to escape your everyday life and venture into a brand new world full of adventure and excitement. It's an easy way to get away from your daily stress and responsibilities and become something powerful and great. A version of video games that seem to be trending these days are MMO's because, lets face it, playing with a real being is much more fun than a programed AI. (Artificial Intelligence)

A new advancement in gaming has just arrived, the VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game). You, player, are one of the lucky 10,000 people to get your hands on this latest and greatest innovation of game play. At 4:00pm you, along with thousands of other players will be putting on your virtual reality simulation headsets to dive into a game like no other. Fortune Fantasy!

Plot not good enough
When you first log in you won't see anything out of the ordinary. Its a large town and you start off with a tutorial teaching you how to do things. Walking, running, rolling, jumping, is all just like in real life. In all honestly it feels like this is real life. Then you learn how to use skills, which is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Its as simple as announcing which skill your going to use, hold a stance for a split second or so for it to charge up, and use it. Simple easy stuff to understand. Last but not least, to make the menu pop up you just raise your finger and tap in front of you. Easy peazy lemon squeeze right?

However, after a while and you decide to give the game a rest for a little while, you notice something important missing, the log out button in the menu. Of course that only means the GM's are working frantically to fix this glitch... right? After all only a maniac would keep 10,000 people trapped in a video game...

This game is pretty basic, its just like any other MMORPG, you have quests and a main goal. In this game your main goal is to beat all 50 floors. Easy right?
Each floor has its own scenery, monsters, bosses, towns and quests. Before you are able to get to the next floor you must find and beat the boss then open the portal to the next floor.

Starting Area
Recommended level: 1-10
First Floor.jpg
First Floor
The first floor is made up of mostly plains separated by thin forests. It has a single pillar and three towns. The monsters are weak, basic monsters that poses no special abilities and are perfect for farming up to level 5. After that it get a bit harder to level up and after level 10 gaining levels will be more difficult on such low level monsters. This floor's only safe zones (aka PVP {player versus player} and PVM {Player versus monster} disabled area's that also takes away pain receptors) are the three towns. The boundaries for this level is a stone wall that stands about two and a half feet tall followed by an endless abyss that is tinted to look like a horizon. If you fall off you will be instantly terminated.
Towns
Vilaka
This is the town you first spawn and is also among the biggest of all the towns you will find in Fortune Fantasy. At the center of this town is a large circular area that has multiple paths leading out of it. In the very center there is a platform that server no other purpose than the spawn point. This town has multiple markets, a low, mid, and high class inn, a low and mid class restaurant, a real estate salesman (whom sells houses/guildhalls), a church, a barracks, and a library and a guilds master (whom you talk to, to form a guild.)

The markets in this town include the player market (a market where players can buy and run shops) the general market (a market that sells general items and potions) a farmers market (a market that sells food items used for cooking) a close combat market [CC Market] (a market that sells heavy/leather armor, shields, swords, spears, rapiers, battle axes and war hammers) ranged combat (A market that sells leather armor, bows and whips) magic market (a shop that sells cloth armor, staffs and orbs) accessory market (a market that sells earrings, rings, costumes, clothes, necklaces and amulets) and the beast market (which sells pet food and pet items)
Ordin
A small town located at the outskirts of the level. It only has once entrance, a stone bridge that connects the small floating island to the large mainland. This city posses one mid class inn, a low class restaurant, and a quest board which is the only place you can get a quest in this city. It only has one shop, a weapons vender which sells basic level 1-5 weapons for any class and holds the only smithery on this level (used for making weapons, though if a player buys a shop they can turn the back room into a smithery).
Teree
This is a mid sized town with two inns, low class and high class, as well as a mid class restaurant. It holds a farmers market and a large pond in which the town is built around. Most people that stay there call it the 'cooking town' because of its large selection of cooking materials. Other than that it only holds a few quests.
Weather
This area is primarily sunny and the temperature says along the mid to high 70's. The sky is mostly clear with a few clouds now and then with the exception of a few rain showers that seem to happen about once a month.

Monsters
Boar: lvl 1
The weakest monster in the game. Though its fast charge attack can be dangerous, all players will be able to survive at least one hit. Most players are able to dodge the attack though only the skilled ones will be able to dodge it without a scratch.
Goblin: lvl 3-5
Goblins do not have much HP but they are fast and have high evasion. Hitting them will prove difficult for those with heavy weapons and armor.
Forest Troll: lvl 8
Though these beasts are rare to find they do roam around in the forests. They can dish out a lot of damage and can tank even more. These trolls are among the hardest monsters to beat on this level. A single hit can be devastating on your HP.
Fighting
SAO_duel.png
While fighting there are a few things to be aware of. You need to be aware of your health bar, if that hits zero its game over, your mana bar, if you rely on magic and it hits zero you will have a tough fight ahead of you, and your status effects. If your poisoned or paralyzed it could change the outcome of the fight.

The Basics
Every weapon can be used for melee. All you do is swing it at whatever enemy is within range. That's the simplest attack however it doesn't do much damage.

You can block and parry attacks simply by moving your shield or sword in the way of the incoming blow. Of course certain attacks will be too powerful for you to block, in which case you could just jump out of the way.
Using potions is essential in a battle. They are placed in a pouch that's normally connected to your waist (default) unless you change its location. A potion is used simply by drinking its contents. Potions can be used for various tasks, the most common one is to restore HP/Mana.

Active Skills
Skills are used by holding a stance for a split second and calling out the name of the skill you want to use. After calling out the name of the skill and seeing a glint on your weapon you use it, simple as that.

Passive Skills
Passive skills are skills you don't even have to activate. They activate on their own, or they are always being used. There are just as many passive skills as their are active skills, thousands of each, and an example of a passive skill is poison resistance. You are immune to poison.

Getting hit
In safe zones being hit will only give you a slight knock back effect however when being hit outside of a safe zone you will feel a certain amount of pain based on how much damage they do to you. Of course the pain isn't realistic, otherwise no one would be willing to fight, and in all actuality it is only set to 5%.
Consider During Game Play
How the VR Headset Really Works
The headset doesn't show you an image, contrary to popular belief, it really connects directly to your nervous system. Though the players and the public don't find out about this until its too late. Removing the headset without properly logging off will cause a player's nervous system to die and give them a painful but quick death. Their is quite a large amount of danger in this yes however the designer purposefully intended for that to happen. He wanted to make everyone experience a video game as reality, meaning if you die in the game you actually die.

This being said the game is extremely realistic, you can feel, see, taste, smell, and hear everything around you like it was real life. In all honesty for quite some time now it will be your 'real life'. You must have realized now, if the game reads your nervous system how does that effect your actual body? Well for starters your actual body wont even lift a finger while your under the simulation. The game puts the senses into your body but lets you have control over what your avatars body does. Luckily for you the GM decided to lower the pain receptors so when you get stabbed with a sword it won't hurt as much.

Pain is calculated like so, Damage/Max Health*Eight
For those of you who don't know this is being measured by the dol measurement of pain which, in as of 2023, has been perfected and is now a universal measurement.
2-3 Mild pain
4-5 Discomforting - moderate pain
6-7 Distressing - severe pain
8-9 Intense - very severe pain
10 Unbearable pain
If you do the math, the max amount of pain you will ever feel is intense meaning you will never feel Unbearable pain. The max amount a human body can take is theorized to be 45 dol but was never proven because they could never truly test the theory. It is said once someone passes 45 dol your body will shut down and you will cease to live.

Rules!
Rules:
  1. GM's word is law (though I will allow you to argue your case in PM if you would like)
  2. No, glitches are not ok, you may not 'find' them
  3. No god mode, sorry
  4. No swearing (I think we can deal with this rule, not the end of the world)
  5. If I say a character is OP then he is OP and you will nurf them.
  6. If you don't understand something PM me (yes that is a rule, I don't want you jumping into the RP if your a little fuzzy on a topic, please ask me questions!)
  7. Use your head, if your on this sight I know you have one!
  8. Reread your posts! Try to make sure what your writing makes sense before you post it. I'm guilty of not rereading my post and writing things that make no sense at all
  9. Try to post regularly or message me if you can't. I don't like leaving people behind in an RP and I don't like making people wait too long either. If you do fall behind make up a training excuse and ask for a summary of what happened.
  10. If I mess something up, or forget something, or make a mistake, and you notice it, you will correct me so I can fix it. (This is more of a please and thank you rule)
[Warning!]
Things will be added and changed around during the RP, I will let you know when something has been added, taken away, or altered! This is to make sure this RP stays balanced and interesting.

  • Air Sign: Gale of Fortune - A gust of wind raises the speed of teammates.
  • Metal Sign: Mercury Shield - A shield of liquid metal with high density, most attacks bounce right off.
  • Water Sign: Princess Undine - A wall of water that washes over the target. [LOCKED]
  • Wood Sign: Sylphae Horn - The target is smacked with a large log. [LOCKED]
  • Earth Sign: Trilithon of Rage - The target is chained to a magical boulder, slowing it down. [LOCKED]
  • Sun Sign: Royal Flare - Homing disk of fire that explodes upon contact. [LOCKED]
  • Moon Sign: Archery of Selene - Same as Arrow of Selene, but instead of only shooting only one arrow it's a flurry of many. Almost impossible to dodge, and may hit many times. [LOCKED, UNIQUE SKILL!]
  • Rainbow Sign: Elements of Chaos - 7 crystals, each in a respective colour of the rainbow, surround the target and locks them into a cage of light, dealing severe damage. Has a rather low success rate, but is impossible to escape if it does. Requires very long casting time, leaving the user susceptible to attacks. [LOCKED, UNIQUE SKILL!]
Personality: Elsa is mature and wise, but may come of as cold and calculating. She prefers taking a passive role, supporting with her magic and figuring out strategies rather than rushing head first into battle. While her magic is powerful, it takes some time to charge up and the cooldown period is long, making her vulnerable to fast hitting opponents like assassins and fencers but deadly against tanks.

Personality: Leo, while playing online, is brave, rash, and fiery. In real life he has to act decent at all times as a result of a strict upbringing, making him quite timid, only being able to let his real self shine through in-game. As a tank he has a lot of HP and can take many hits, but he tends to want to act strongly all the time and not realize when it's time to step back, resulting in him being a danger to himself.

Personality: Arthur is the kind of guy you can rely on when it comes to most things, he is level headed and will rarerly be aggresive. Other than that he likes to help others and just happened to become a tank so that others woudn't have to put their lives on the line as long as he is around. He is also a werry cuddly person and can often be compared to a dog, some even calling him goldy (like a golden retriver) due to this behaviour.

Gender: Male
Age: 15

An everyday wooden shield, he keeps this on his back however, preferring to roll through attacks.

  • [Unique Skill] Berserk Mode: A special enchantment that lasts for 2 minutes. The user's health and mana get fully restored. The user's max HP, max MP, strength, speed, attack speed, and endurance are all increased. After the 2 minutes are up, the user's HP is halved and they cannot move for half a minute. [Can only be used once every hour, and the user must kill at least 1 thing every day in order to use it] [Locked]
  • Blood Oath: The user can sacrifice their own HP to give to a target. [20 mana]
  • Dark Flame Sword: An enchantment spell that works on sword users. A black flame engulfs the sword. The user's attack speed is increased slightly, and attacks with the sword deal extra darkness damage along with its normal damage. [50 mana must be maintained as long as the spell is active]

Personality: While in character, she acts dark and brooding. She will walk with an exaggeratedly seductive strut and forces an alto voice. Outside of character, which she acts like more often, Julie is shy, nervous, and awkward. When confronted with an unfamiliar situation, she'd often panic or squeak away. If she is asked a question and doesn't know the answer, she'll just tilt her head and pout like a stupid animal. Her voice is naturally high pitched and she is very insecure about it.

SAO?
Yeah this is kinda like SAO, one of my all time favorite anime's and it has a lot of similarities to the game, however its not exactly the same. The general idea and game logic is as far as this will copy SAO. Still if you haven't watch it and are into anime's you should totally watch it cause its awesome! Also I recommend watching the first episode at least. I did my best explaining everything to you but the first episode really puts a nail into it.

@Lady Bernkastel

I would prefer if you reword the description of Dance of Butterflies to nearly impossible to dodge.

You will have to have a couple of your spells locked until later on. Try to only start with two/three of your spells and if you would like you can make Dance of butterflies be a unique skill (meaning only your player posses it) and up the damage slightly. However a unique skill must be locked till later on.

@Princess of the Teacup

You might want your skills to be scalable. After all if your fighting monsters on a higher level and only do 1-5 damage when they have 1500 base hp you might be up a creek without a paddle. Try to do it like mine if you want to put up something about damage. In all honestly you don't even have to write how it scales or how much damage it does. Also in the ring sounds like a unique skill and I would prefer if you put it as such. After all, Ring Master is not a common class in RPG's. However that is your own option. I will allow anyone to have a unique skill if they wish and in fact encourage it. Fighting is always much more exiting when surprises are involved.

@NorwayFOO Yeah, I tried nerfing her but I guess it didn't turn out that well... I'm not good at making entry-level characters :/

I'll make her start of with some weaker spells and lock the others for now.

Edit: I might make a new character alltogether and throw Elsa in the Bin.

@Lady Bernkastel
Your character is fine, not over powered one bit with her long cool downs and channeling. The thing is I don't want anyone to start out with too many spells. I wish I posted something about it sooner, only two or three starting spells. I really like that character in all honesty but if you decided to make a new one go for it.

Okay I changed it. ^^

@Princess of the Teacup
Good good, I like it.

@Lady Bernkastel
The last one can be questionable but I will allow it. Just make sure your ready to face counters for it.

At any rate I think I am going to wait for two more people to join, however long that might take, before I start up the IC.

Oops, I realized I forgot something about her last spell. I added it so that she won't be able to continuously spam it and be like 'trololo you ded'

You could add it as a long channeling technique which would mean while you prepare and use it you would be vulnerable to attack. With that in mind as well as its low success rate the move would end up being so risky that a smart player would only use it in a dire situation. I say this because day caps annoy me when playing a video game, however if you feel a day cap is a proper nurf please, by all means, use it.

I thought that was rather obvious, but of course I will add it to the description.

I meant instead of the day cap you could just put that down. That way you can use it more than once a day to make up for its low success rate. Every move has to be balanced! However its still your character and I don't want to be too much of a dictator so its your choice. Keep the day cap or get rid of it. Either way your character is 100% accepted.

It's fun vollying ideas like this, though :3 Anyway, I wanted the day cap because it should only be used for special occassions, such as boss fights, but I guess it would be more dynamic if I removed it.

A hint for anyone looking to join this RP, we don't have a tank and it would be awesome if someone made a really cool one!

Changed my class to Assassin. Thought that fit a bit more as a class. :D

Did you do that just to give yourself leverage over me? >_> (Haha just kidding, technically you would have leverage no matter what your class is called)

Anyway I added the non-combat skill Alchemy to Elsa. I wanted to put enchanting as well, but I realized I've reached the skill cap XD

You can always learn it later on! Also noncombat skills count as .5 of a skill. (Look at SilverFang, he has 4 skills when the starting cap is 3. That is because crafting and construction count as .5)... I'm really good at leaving things out *sigh*

But yeah don't worry about 10 skills because you only have 9.5 but you have 3.5 starting out which means you will have to lock one of your abilities.
