Vocabulary Challenge
Brought to you by: October Knight and Fluffy; Partners in Crime

[bg=#006633]This challenge is to help strengthen your vocabulary. You'll learn new words and how to use them in roleplay posts, stories, poems, etc!

Instructions:
1. Aim for a minimum of 1-3 paragraphs. If you'd like to write more than that, then go for it!
2. Make sure you use each word in your post. Be as creative as you'd like.
3. Style the writing like you would for a story. It can be describing a setting, or written from the perspective of a character. Whatever you feel would work the best.
4. Have fun with this, of course!

The Words:

  • Galvanize (verb) - To imbue with life or animation.
  • Timorous (adj.) - Lacking courage.
  • Gumption (noun.) - Common sense.
  • Expatriate (verb) - To drive from one's own country.
  • Impecunious (adj.) - Having no money.

"My dear Bingo, you must understand that simply being timorous about everything will not guarantee you safety. Any halfling with a good helping of gumption knows that sometimes the proper response to danger is to fight it face on. While this might be hard to do, as are many proper things, it can and will often save you a great deal of trouble."

The wizard sighed, and took a sip from his pint. Galvanizing the young gambler, who was after all quite impecunious and very worried about it, was like trying to herd cats. The poor fellow had nearly gone into shock after the fifty or so landlords and thieves that he owed enormous debts to tried to expatriate him by force.

(Are you sure it has to be written like a story?)

A grizzled old wizard by the name of Sir Scissor looked down at a lump of stone
Shaped like a man and wearing a band that looked ‘bout a million years old.
Though impecunious he knew of a way that this glob might just earn him some gold,
So through dawn and on, humming a song, he chanted his way through the cold.

But the grizzled old wizard by the name of Sir Scissor didn’t know quite what to do.
He lacked the gumption and proper consumption of words to bond souls like glue.
Without second thought he tossed stone into pot, but sadly as we all knew
Even a wizard like old mister Scissor might not have learned much in school.

And lo, down below, from the pan to the snow, understand horror was brought to his eyes
When ho, down below, from the pan to the snow, what was deemed he could galvanize.

Now the grizzled old wizard, our dear sissy Scissor, was quite timorous, to say the least.
Had he more sense, he wouldn’t have guessed he could make an escape from the beast.
Alas, time has passed, and we now know the past of the man we expatriate east,
For though he still lives, the rest of us fear we soon shall become a quaint feast.
