For years Hugo had been reading stories of great adventures, filled with quick witted heroes, blushing maidens, and evil villains. The stories filled him with hope and wonder of the world around him, and he wished that he would one day get to go on an adventure of his own. And then, one day, that adventure came.

His mother had gotten extremely sick, and he had to cross the Alps to get to the nearest doctor. None of the stories had a transalpine adventure; his would be the first. He picked out the most apposite clothing for the journey, and walked out of the cabin, eager to be on his adventure. For hours he trudged through the snow, happy to finally be out of the cabin that he had known all his life. And slowly, the eagerness that had carried him through those first hours started to dwindle. In the back of his mind, he knew there would be no raillery on his adventure, and he knew that time was the only villain in this case. It perturbed him that the stories would so blatantly lie to him, filling him with false hope that the world was glorious and full of excitement. This realization caused an ever widening aperture of despair in his heart; he would never be able to read those stories the same way again.

The cavern was situation on the other side of the mountain - a mere aperture in the face of the cliff. It required a transalpine journey and while the team's spirits were, indeed, lifted, their conversations filled with raillery and jokes, everyone knew the importance of their mission. They had found it. The final piece of Le Cercueil des Ames. The Coffin of Souls. And while their decision had been hard to come by, determining the apposite move, it was finally agreed upon that it wasn't the only option available. It wasn't just necessary, but imperative that they should perturb the resting place of the precious artifact.

And so they set out... six of them, the Brotherhood, to find the puzzle box... to end the nightmare that had begun so many years ago, once and for all

Jared stabbed the ice pick into the side of the mountain as he lifted his feet and dug his cleats into the icy snow. The lost group of hikers were last seen just beyond this ridge. The transalpine climb had taken longer than expected in these less than idea conditions, but he hoped to have sight of them once he reached the summit of this ridge line. Just above his head he saw an aperture in the rock face and stabbed the ice pick into it and pulled himself up to the flat top of the ridge.

He was perturbed to see that the group was sitting around a cozy fire exchanging the usual male raillery and less than apposite language flew back and forth amid laughter and guffaws. He approached them and stood over them with hands on his hips and feet spread apart, "Do you have any idea how many people are looking for you?"

"Who us?"

"No the other group of hikers who hasn't checked in for twenty hours."

"DUDE...we are supposed to check in?"

Jared rubbed a cold gloved hand over his face in an effort to contain his growing anger, "Yes, you are supposed to call the station every two hours."

"Wow dude...sorry man. Wanna beer? Looks like you took the rough way up."

Jared grabbed his radio and called off the search and then plopped down, "Sure why not."
