It is official: HAL is here, and his name is Watson.

IBM's new super-computer, named after IBM founder Thomas J. Watson, has officially destroyed two of Jeopardy's most powerful (and money-making) champions Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter.

It's both interesting and terrifying that computer and technological science has come so far. HAL is here now. Who's next? Skynet?

But... can't anybody win Jeopardy if they have access to Wikipedia?

Not something I'm worried about. All it's doing it taking the information it has stored and spitting it back out.

Adventure stories! They can be fantasy, modern, sci-fi, all kinds! Give me some good world travel stories and I'm all over it! I also enjoy romance stories and even though I tend to play females I love playing gay men.
Our computers are too stupid to work without breaking down half the time, I'm not worried about them taking over the world.

I watched it. IT was so cool to watch. Pus, Watson's kinda cute. He's got his own nuances and behaviors that are almost a perfect mimicry of our own and it was a hoot to watch him ask for categories and picking out which one he wanted. Listen to the way he talks. The way he lifts his voice in question, or utters "Please" in a professional manner.
