This is a much easier character to work with.

One thing though is that the tier ratings aren't there to replace an actual description of the abilities in question. All of his abilities above human level should still be defined seperately, with the tier indicators only being used after the fact to denote roughly where he'll stand amongst the other characters. As an example, I'll edit Ahven's CS and repost it with the new tier ratings.

I'm glad to know that all that time we spent was completely wasted XP I apologize for that.

Name: Ahven Maldrich.

Occupation: Demon Hunter.

Age: Early sixties, appears in his twenties.

Race: Former human, current half-breed (demon and human).

Appearance: Tall at 6'4" and slender at 200 pounds, Ahven possessed a lithe strength and speed that made him a formidable combatant even before his transformation, which only increased his physical capabilities further. In addition, the presence of demon blood in his body has turned his hair white, skin pale, and eyes a deep silver-red hue.

History: Born into a world on the brink of war, Ahven was trained from childhood to become a hunter of demons and drive them back to the realm from which they came. This task is not a simple one, as it is the magic, or essence, from the demon realm that powers the technology from the human one, and to seal the breaches entirely would destroy a civilization. Instead, once the effects that demon blood could have on a human were discovered, the hunters were created; humans that have consumed the blood of demons and survived. Doing so granted them access to the essence of the demons power and they became more than human; living conduits for the energy that is drawn from the demon realm to power the expansion of industry. Ahven was sixteen when he and eleven others went through the ritual to become a full hunter; seven of them were killed outright by the process while three more were driven insane. Of the original dozen students, only two passed through the final test unscathed. Since that time, Ahven has worked tirelessly to perfect the gifts his demon blood has granted him and become one of the foremost hunters to date, far surpassing the median life expectancy of forty-two years.

Powers: Demonic Blood.

Granted by his demon blood, Ahven possesses physical capabilities far superior to any human, allowing him to lift one ton of weight above his head, maintain a pace of thirty miles per hour for an extended period of time, react to movements that a human eye would not even perceive, and easily withstand blows from those who are his equal in strength. His eyesight has been altered to see clearly in darkness and at greater distance than a human, while his hearing and smell have become comparable to those of predatory animals. His blood as well has been altered, gaining a corrosive quality due to the demonic essence it is imbued with and rendering him resistant to poison and disease. If injured non-fatally, his body will repair the damage quickly enough to prevent the wound from becoming fatal in time, but only to the point where death is averted. To heal himself fully requires either time or an expenditure of energy.

Abilities: Essence Manipulation.

Due to his connection with the energy of the demon realm (via his now-demonic blood), Ahven has access to several forms of demon magic, though all require a portion of the same energy. He cannot be harmed by his own energy, and any of his own offensive spells he is in range of will have no affect on him.

Essence Shift.
Teleportation would be a more common name for this ability, though in truth it is a method of traversing between dimensions as much as transporting oneself from one point to another within the same realm. This ability is what allows hunters to follow the demons to their own realm to destroy the portals they've created, then traverse back due to their human connection with their own realm. A hunter is the only known being that can pass back and forth entirely at will. When used to alter one's location within the same realm, the range of this ability is limited to roughly 25 meters, though can be increased by using a greater amount of energy. For every five seconds spent charging this ability (one post), its range is double (50 meters after one charge post, 100 after two, and so on). Due to the strain this ability places on the hunter's mind, it is extremely inadvisable to utilize it more than once in succession, as doing so causes great mental fatigue after two consecutive shifts and outright unconsciousness after three.

Essence Binding.
As the name suggests, this spell is a method of attaching one object to another by binding them together with demonic essence. The strength of this bond, as well as the range of it, is determined by the amount of energy put into the spell, with the binding strength doubling every five seconds the spell is charged. At a base level, the binding force is enough to restrain a hunter (barring the use of essence to escape) and slow down even the strongest of demons (enough to hold a being with 2 ton strength), and the radius of the effect is 1 meter. With each charge, both the binding strength and the effect radius are doubled, though range can also be sacrificed for another equal increase in binding strength and vice-versa (4 tons and 0 meters with no charge, 8 tons and 1 meter with 1 charge, or 2 tons and 16 meters with 2 charges). The duration of this spell is 10 seconds (those caught in it will be immobilized for one full post, and two partial posts) by default, though can be increased based upon the same formula as the range and binding force if the potency of one of them is sacrificed. Physical contact is necessary for the activation of this spell, and it is centered on either Ahven himself or the object he is touching.

Essence Transfer.
The transfer of essence allows Ahven to strike much harder, move much faster, and withstand more damage than would otherwise be possible by releasing a portion of his energy into either his physical body or an adjacent object on contact. The rate of transfer is equal to the maximum force/energy he can exert with a purely physical action, multiplied by a factor of 10. With every five seconds of charge, the power of the action is doubled.

Demonic Awareness.
A sixth sense, so to speak, this ability is derived from the essence that Ahven is continuously "leaking" into the world around himself and the way in which it interacts with other objects and energies. Within 25 meters, he can sense any object and most energies around himself with unerring accuracy, though must still focus his attention if he is attempting to perceive any great detail. Within 50 meters, he can sense people and their energy fields, but is unable to distinguish significant detail even when focused. Within 100 meters, he can sense only general shapes and large amounts of energy. Beyond 100 meters this sense is blind to the world. Due to the nature of this energy being tuned to Ahven himself, it is undetectable even to other hunters, though his body's natural energy field can still be detected.

Non-combat abilities.

Meditative Restoration.
By focusing his supply of demonic essence within his own body, Ahven can use it to rejuvenate his own physical energy and well-being, healing wounds and counteracting even the poisons and diseases potent enough to affect him. To do this, however, he must be able to concentrate completely on the task.

Essence Attunement.
Ahven is capable of sensing his own energy over vast distances, allowing him to easily determine the location of any traps he has set or any items powered by his essence.

Equipment: Essence-based technology.

Swords.
Short by most standards (half a meter blade length), these twin blades are nevertheless exceedingly effective at what they are designed to do. Fortified with enchantments that render them wholly unyielding as well as eternally sharp, they are the primary weaponry given to a demon hunter upon graduation, to then be enchanted further as each hunter desires. Ahven decided to forego any further enchantments in favor of the efficiency provided by simplicity, and thus far it has served him exceedingly well.

Pistols.
Powered by the demonic energy his body generates, these twin pistols are designed to store and release that energy on command in short but volatile projectile bursts. The mechanics of the weapon allow it to compress and multiply the force of the energy into a more destructive, yet much more precise attack than Ahven is capable of on his own, and the range of the weapon is also a distinct advantage against purely melee foes. Each projectile will travel for a distance of 1,000 meters before dissipating, and the force with which it strikes is equal to the force of his strongest physical blow multiplied by a factor of ten, then compressed into a space no more than a single centimeter across and fired at a speed of mach 2. Charging the weapon requires both time and concentration, and allows him to fire 7 times before needing to replenish. The replenishment process itself is similar to that of restoration, and cannot be done in combat.

Traps.
Small disks that can easily fit in the palm of a hand, a hunter's trap is a device designed to temporarily contain demonic essence while in a volatile state. To arm a trap, a demon hunter will simply cast the desired spell into the device, which will then create an appropriate seal to contain the energy. To detonate the trap, the seal can either be altered to decay at a specified rate, resulting in a delayed detonation, or simply destroyed remotely by the hunter who set the trap. When active, a trap will expand to four times its inactive size, making the transportation of more than a handful of armed traps difficult at best. Energy requirements are equal to those of the standard spells, with the only difference being the remote/ranged capability a trap provides. Ahven possesses 12 of these devices.

Armor.
With the exception of his bracers, which are an enchanted metal that can withstand blows from even the strongest of demons, Ahven's armor is lightly enchanted leather designed to provide maximum agility and an increased ability to blend silently into shadows and darkness.

Weaknesses:
Bright light.
Due to his ability to see in near-total darkness, his eyes are very sensitive to bright light and sudden flashes can disorient and/or blind him temporarily (he generally wears a hood to help compensate for this).

Holy magic.
While his human side does provide some resistance to this, any use of holy magic against him will bypass the resistances granted by his demonic blood and affect him as it would a normal human.

Overall Tier: 18-20

As you can see, the tier ratings don't define the abilities. All i did was tack on the tier ratings at the end, after all of his capabilities have been defined in the descriptions. The abilities are defined by you, and the tiers only indicate where your character stands. You shouldn't be doing anything with the tier ratings until after the character's abilities are ironed out and defined, and a tier rating should never be used in place of an actual ability description.

Some questions that should be answered by ability descriptions:

How strong is he normally? How strong is he when ignited? (the same for how fast he is in both versions)

What are the drawbacks to his teleportation? Does he require the use of shadows cast by immobile objects or can he use any shadow? Does he require a rest period between each jump? Is there any sort of preparation needed or a requisite amount of darkness within the shadow?

How quickly does the drool corrode materials like steel or leather? Is there a limit to the things it can corrode?

I'm glad to know that all that time we spent was completely wasted XP I apologize for that.
No need to apologize, and as long as you don't forget everything we discussed during that time then it wasn't wasted. :)

I think you can begin the conceptualization of the 'world' setting. It seems the rules are acceptable by the players, the setting doesn't appear to be to difficult to grasp. Establishing the "role-play" setting, i.e. the City will be paramount to setting the tone for the role-play. IF you can sustain the players moving forward character wise and in story instead of static fights with no plotting, nothing to fight for, you should have a successful role-play.

I've posted the OOC/discussion thread so you can start working on your characters and post them when they're ready, but the IC likely won't be up until this weekend (along with the city description and some more edits to the initial OOC post).

Schradinger, Skall, Asta good to RP with you guys again. Well im interested and will bringing Aeon over from the other multiverse.

Ok so... I know your gonna hate me for this but I can't do the duel due to a ton of protects I'm suddenly in. However I would be glad to join the arena RP that you have basically made in the time it took me to make a character.

I was actually going to suggest that we have our fight in the multiverse RP. Lol. Once you're ready, you can submit the character in that thread and hopefully I'll have some of my own characters ready and the IC up by then.

Ok. What kind of power level were you thinking?

Ok. Go ahead and write up a character (you can use the template and levels in the Arena city thread linked above if you want), and I'll then submit a character of my own to be approved by you before we start.

Just don't make him a shape-shifter XD
It wasn't the shapeshifting that made him so complicated. It was the sheer volume of things he could become, with no definable power level to them.

A character that could shapeshift into any currently living real life animal, for instance, would be much easier to define because the vast majority of them have already been studied and cataloged, and their capabilities are a known quantity. Another shapeshifter archetype that would be able to work in this setting is one akin to Alex Mercer (though not as powerful as he becomes in the second game), as long as his abilities are clearly defined.

[BCOLOR=transparent]Name: Xian Xue[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]
LiShuwen_zps8e08ad45.jpg
[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Occupation: Wandering fighter.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Age: Mid twenties.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Race: Human[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Appearance: Xian stands in at 172 cm and weighs in at 57 Kg. His frame is agile and lithe, with a perfectly balanced physique. His limbs and proportions are are well balanced, as if forming a coherent and supremely efficient machine rather than an imperfection riddled human body. He is pragmatically muscled, without an ounce of unnecessary muscle or fat, further enhancing the image that Xian's body is an unnaturally efficient specimen. Xian's physique is naturally inclined towards dexterity and agility though, as his training has shaped his body to favor speed and alacrity over brawn. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]History:[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Xian was born into the ancient and mythical China during the era of the first and legendary kingdoms. A time when dragons of supreme power still flew over the skies, demons roamed to enact their savagery, and the supernatural in general was prosperous. Of course in this era of mythical blessings ther were also mythical curses. Threats beyond compare in the modern now long stamped out as fable and superstition. In this era, humanity was sparse and struggled to survive, but in exchange every individual was extremely powerful naturally. Xian was one of these humans eking out life under incredible threats, and one of the very few to exceed his limitations and become a legend among the legendary. From a young age Xian was imbued with the essence of an eastern dragon, grafting it's soul into his. As such,Xian possesses the soul of both human and dragon though his body may be entirely "human". From a young age, Xian practiced martial arts and flourished, distinguishing his skill among all humans. "Practiced" would be a light way to put Xian's training. Xian immersed his entire being into the nature of Chinese martial arts, which holds a rich philosophical substance. Indeed, Xian can be said to be the root of Taiji in his world, the meditative ideal of liuhe quan that favored harmony and balance in one's body and mind to achieve that which is beyond human limit. He became a renowned slayer of monsters and demons, a hero of humanity, fueled only by his skill in martial arts and the control of his own life energy. [/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Powers: [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Martial Arts[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Xian is a grandmaster among grandmasters in Chinese martial arts, developing the fundamental basis behind all future styles to flourish from Xian's original forms and teachings. Xian has no specific style, and indeed it can be considered an amalgamation of all Chinese styles present today. It can be loosely classified as a taiji art, following the Yin and Yang balance of Tai'chi'chuan. Xian's style is not meant for killing, and is instead meant to express the inner harmony of it's practitioner in a peaceful outward form, thus in it's original state Xian's martial arts is one that seeks to repress and not kill. However, a simple change in ideology or philosophy can change one's martial form, and for Xian who suffered through countless ordeals where lethal force could not be ignored, he has developed a lethal style of martial arts much like the modern style of Bajiquan and Xingyiquan. It is characterized by a low and wide stance to allow for firm and powerful generation of power from the earth upwards to the limbs for explosive and highly damaging blows seeking to rupture the internal organs rather than bruise the skin. The arms are extended in the stance, with the right leading arm firmly set upwards perpendicular to the torso at the forearm and the left arm being firmly set downwards in the same angle. The truly useful aspect of Xian's prowess in martial arts is not his perfected form and poise, but rather his understanding of the fundamental framework behind all martial arts. With his experience as an ardent practitioner and developer of martial arts and its ideologies, Xian can recognize within seconds how an opposing martial arts style works. How the stance is used, how the blows are executed, how counter attacks are devised, etc. Xian can grasp the intricacies of arts he sees once by understanding the fundamentals behind it, and can thus counter accordingly after witnessing a new style in action for just a few seconds.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Abilities: Qi Manipulation [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Xian can manipulate a special energy that sustains his life, a combination of spiritual and physical energy that flows throughout the body known as Qi. Qi is in essence,life force, but it maintains distinctive flows and concentrations. Normal human beings maintain a level of Qi in their bodies, but are not able to fully control the glow of the energy, which requires a stable and strengthened mental state borne from specific training such as some variants of Chinese martial arts. Expending Qi is a highly costly process as it drains life force, which cuts down heavily on stamina. Three expenditures of Qi usage totaling over three seconds will likely drain Xian to a third of his strength.Qi allows for many different effects and abilities, which are listed below.[/BCOLOR]

  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Physical Strengthening[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]By passively maintaining a harmonious flow of Qi, Xian can strengthen his body immensely. Xian Xue can lift eight tons at this level and strengthen his muscles to become harder than titanium alloys. However the most enhanced aspect of Xian's physical capabilities is his increased speed. With passive Qi control, Xi is able to run at sixty kilometers per hour with a sprint and maintain the pace for several minutes. [/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Qi Burst[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]By actively spending Qi and converting it into a huge burst of energy, Xian is able to triple his physical capacities for an instant of time. The burst of power and speed is tremendous and powerful, but lasts for just more than one second, making it a last minute method to land in a crucial blow or evade a crucial blow. Qi burst is severely taxing and drains on Xian's capacity to continue battle physically as mentioned above, and as such is usually a last resort. [/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Stable Mind[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Controlling the flow of Qi requires a highly trained and sharp mind, and with Xian's superb level of control, it can be said that his mental state is clearer than the purest of freshwater streams. Although not a result of Qi control, Xian's mind of iron is still a powerful arsenal in his inventory as it allows him to perceive and react to occurrences as soon as they happen without stopping at all to be surprised. Xian's acute mind slashes away any unnecessary thoughts automatically, leaving only a refined instinct and immense battle acumen to immediately deal with any threats. The ability essentially heightens Xian's reflexes by removing any lag time in reacting to something. Additionally the mental fortuity serves as a resistance to mental damage and interference, leaving behind only a pure mind steadied for combat to the utmost efficiency.[/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Presence Concealment[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Although not actually concealing physical presence, Xian's mastery of Qi eliminates any abnormalities his body may give off in any way. To a master who has reigned over his natural energy, it is as if he has become a part of the environment around him, an extension of nature itself given form and spirit by a human body. As such Xian is capable of suppressing his presence in a way that he becomes invisible not to the eye, but to instinct. Instinct is the sixth sense in one's mind telling one that an abnormality is near, but Xian emits nothing for instinct to pick up on. His mind is serene and focused, without blood lust or enmity, simply duty bound as a tree is duty bound to life. To a heightened combatant's instinct, Xian is perceived just like that tree, a simple growth in nature without any inherent threat. [/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Qi Infused Blows[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]By infusing blows with Qi, Xian is able to disrupt the flow of natural energy from those the blow strikes. Xian's qi enters the stream of life of his foe, disrupting it severely like a pathogen would to an unprepared immune system. Qi infused blows will essentially paralyze opponents on where the blow was struck in an approximate half meter radius area. The paralysis is signalled by a painful burning sensation before the struck area becomes completely numb. Paralysis only lasts for at best, three seconds, which is still a significant amount of time in close combat. However Qi infused blows become particularly lethal when they strike the areas around the heart and brain, as it is capable of halting the nervous and circulatory systems. Those struck in grazing blows around these areas will feel panic and shock, as well as the initial effects of analyptic shock such as anxiety, headaches and difficulty in breathing. Those struck squarely are essentially frozen in time, with a temporarily halted nervous or circulatory system. The main weakness of Qi is that it's effects are removed by powerful enough will. However, the effect is powerful enough that it requires a life or death instinct to dispel in the case of almost all enemies. Of course, this life or death instinct that flashes when a death blow is about to be performed makes the paralysis non lethal in essence, as the opponent will regain composure, and, fueled by instinct, avoid or counter blows. Qi infused blows cannot be used often, and must be invoked with a preparatory post of defensive action and mental focus. After the preparation, a single Qi infused blow is possible with any extension of the body. The Q infused blows must strike squarely the area it intrudes within, and it must contact pure flesh. Additionally to those that are undead, Qi infused blows will not work. Those with immortality will also feel less of it's effects as their life energy is inherently stronger. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Dragon's Spirit[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]N/A[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]"Special" Techniques[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Xian has recorded down techniques that simply use his abilities together in harmony to perform powerful attacks.[/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Gate Breaker[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]By widening his stance and centering his balance, Xian prepares to draw a maximum amount of energy from the earth to fuel his next blow, a powerful forward thrust open palm attack that can be likened to a battering ram in its explosive power, capable of shattering gates and walls.[/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Snake Bite[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]After performing the required post of defense and focusing mental energy, Xian infuses one of his hands with Qi. He then eases into a grounded stance and straightens his back while aiming his right or left arm at the opponent. Xian then strikes at an enemy with his Qi infused hand, but this time using his spine as a center of balance to swing his arm at his enemy from the shoulder. He keeps the arm itself flexible, causing the blow to appear to be a live snake, with the arcing curve of the blow mimicking the writhing coil of a snake. The blow strikes first outward and then swings in inward while gaining velocity, and as such is a dodgeable blow, however, the deadliness of the blow lies in it's unpredictability. Even if the blow misses, Xian can change the trajectory midflight by cocking his arm at the elbow and hand joint to strike the enemy's back. The attack is aimed for the head to attempt neural paralysis, and as such even if the opponent dodges the first blow, the second will come crashing in from behind aided by Xian's unnatural reflexes.[/BCOLOR]

  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Triple Crane Strike[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]A continuation of Snake Bite usually, Triple Crane Strike is a technique in which Xian Qi bursts and then strikes three areas in extremely rapid succession. These three areas are both shoulder joints and the sternum, in that order. The blows are quick and meant to be executed in as short a time frame as possible, with both shoulder joints instantly being shattered by two concurrent elbow strikes and the sternum crushed by a double palm push meant to force the opponent away before they can retaliate after paralysis ends. [/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Equipment:[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Blessed Garb [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Xian's clothes are enchanted with an ability to slightly redirect attacks. It basically erects a constantly active barrier clinging tightly to Xian's body, being merely a centimeter thick. Objects that approach the barrier have their surrounding space warped away from Xian's body. This effect is extremely minute, and cannot change the course of most projectiles by more than five centimeters at most. It does have a natural inclination to protect Xian and will warp things away from his vitals with the same potency as mentioned above. The garb is also near weightless, weighing at most a few dozen grams. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Weaknesses:[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Range[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Xian has no reliable way to inflict damage in range, and this crippling weakness can be considered compensation for his exceptional capacities in close quarters. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Unpredictability[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Although fighting Xian in a fist fight is a daunting prospect, having an improvised or "stanceless" style will make Xian's ability to analyze and discern movements slower in effect. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Armor[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Xian's blows are rapid and powerful in their intensity, but his Qi infused blows can be blocked by armor. [/BCOLOR]
