「Roleplay Premise」

The premise for this particular incarnation of The Variable Project will be on an elite group that goes by the name Vector, which hunts down, captures, and sometimes eliminates Corrupted Constants. The events of this roleplay take place in the year 2162, after the Variable Project Reform of 2148, and before the development of the Psyche system in 2198.

Your role in the roleplay will be that of a new recruit that recently joined Vector. Our characters will all be part of a single squad that works together to handle missions. While the majority of the roleplay will have a mission-by-mission format, it will eventually break away from this as the plot progresses and our characters start questioning their duties and actions.

This roleplay will include the affinities, as well as large scale variables, although blood affinities and spacial type variables will be off limits to player characters.

「Rules」

1. All Iwaku rules apply. This one goes without saying.
2. No OoC drama. Take it to PM, if you absolutely need to.
3. No godmodding, plotbunnying, etc. First is a warning, second time I kill your character on site.
4. Follow the posting expectations. At least two paragraphs per post, and one post a week, at the minimum, unless I don't post that week either because life gets in the way (again).
5. Give me a cookie to let me know you read everything.
6. Placeholder rule.
7. Obligatory "have fun" rule.

Uhhh.... what exactly is "plotbunnying?" Google is not helping here.

When someone detracts from the main plot by putting too much emphasis on subplots of their own.

Full Name: Koji Danga
Code Name: Condor

Age: 28

Sex: Male

Height:
5'10 ft.

Weight:
183 lbs.

Appearance:
12965273_1727003630879168_39179106_n.jpg

"Where the wind goes, so do I..."

History:

Growing up, Koji's life was a simple one. He had a good family, good friends, and a good education. When the young man graduated from college with a degree in Applied Sciences, he enlisted into the military, as his father and his father's father had both done before him. While many of those that joined with him took jobs that sent them towards the front lines, Koji used his degree to the fullest, taking up a job as a military research and development specialist. For the first year of his enlistment, Koji's job was boring; plain. No one let him in on anything important, and he was reduced to working on outdated equipment and old technology. However despite the lack of excitement, Koji's steadfast nature pushed him to keep working diligently, believing that one day he would be recognized.

That day happened sooner that he anticipated. After two years, Koji's supervisors, as well as the head scientist recognized his hard work and intelligent mind; drafting him into their mission of secrecy: developing next level Variable weaponry. At first, Koji did not understand how to develop these tools, but overtime with guidance from his superiors and his being a Constant, he was able to get a hang of the development. Koji stayed as a developer and researcher for quite a while until he was suddenly and abruptly transferred to Vector.

Personality:
At his core, Condor is a good person. He believes that by working with Vector, he can keep common folk safe while learning more and more about Constants; hopefully resulting in ways to help them as well. the young recruit is both smart and brave, and is extremely passionate about his ideals and beliefs.

VECT Results:
Long Range Physical - Long Range Mental

Variable Type:
Condor's long range variable takes the form of a large bladed boomerang; capable of splitting off into multiple copies to overwhelm his enemies. His long range mental variable chip is installed at the top of his spine and is mainly used in conjunction with his boomerangs to remember, strategize and analyze his flight patterns and throwing techniques on the fly, as well as study his target from a safe distance.

Affinity: Wind

Strategies:
Condor's main strategies are all about overwhelming and capturing his target alive while still staying at a safe distance. Using his variables, Condor excels at catching and releasing his boomerangs quickly and accurately, creating unpredictable flight paths for his target to deal with. Having a Wind affinity matched with his long range physical variable as well as the long range mental variable means his accuracy, speed, and control are second to none. This is just one of the many ways the Condor takes down his foes.

After two years, Koji's supervisors, as well as the head scientist recognized his hard work and intelligent mind; drafting him into their mission of secrecy: developing next level Variable weaponry. At first, Koji did not understand anything; Constants, Variables, Psychokinesis. An entire new world had been opened before his very eyes, and it all seemed a bit much. However, as he spent time working in the lab with his fellow scientists, the young researcher slowly began to get a grasp on the scientific side of it all. This understanding and development was also how Koji discovered that he himself was in fact a Constant. This sudden change flipped his world upside down. At first he tried to hide it, but working in a lab of variables everyday quickly resulted in his powers being discovered. Once the higher ups found out, Koji was bounced around from testing facility to testing facility; base to base. In the end, the constant tests and secrecy turned out to be too much for him, and the ex-researcher fled the military, becoming a criminal charged with desertion. With nowhere to run and unsure of what to do, Koji moved from place to place, hiding, until he was picked up and recruited by Vector.

Everything looks good for the most part. You understand how variables work and how they're capable of being used. I haven't decided on an exact year for this roleplay yet, so I'll probably use his age as some sort of basis. One thing I would like to address is his fleeing from the military as a "criminal charged with desertion". Vector is a subdivision, of sorts, of the military, just a more secretive branch that deals exclusively with corrupted Constants. That being said, he wouldn't be able to join Vector without the military he left behind knowing it. Also, they'd test him for Psychokinesis before he was even able to join the military, and definitely before letting him work in the lab with variables. Other than that, everything's all good. Very nice character — adept, but not overpowered. Just fix up the history and I'll accept him.

Changed the history so he was drafted out of the labs randomly. Also I can always change his age if necessary.

The age is fine; not choosing a year yet is a fault on my part. Everything's good now though! Accepted!

EDIT: What age would you say he enlisted in the military?

Well considering he joined after college, probably 22 at the earliest.

Added a date in the Roleplay Premise section! Vector was established in 2158, and it's been four years since then, so that puts us in 2162.

Just a reminder that, while sticking to something you're familiar with is good, physical variables are freely transformable at all times. But transforming it into a sword doesn't automatically make you good at swordplay.

    PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS_
Robin has a distinct face in the shape of an Oval, and her features are quite proportionate to her face. She's got piercing brown up turned shaped eyes, a deviated nose with a broad tip (button), average ears with an free ear lobe, and thin even lips that are just a tad bit thicker on the bottom. The most amount of make-up she'll wear is foundation and concealer to cover up redness and blemishes, some powder to reduce shine, and some chapstick. On special occasions she'll wear shear lip gloss with some color. She accessorizes her face with her glasses that become tinted when in contact with direct sunlight. When she is wear contacts, she'll carry around some yellow-orange shades. For her ears, she has both of them pierced and will change up her earrings. Normally they're not statement girly earrings and tend to stick to metallic colored clasps. She's got two on her left ear, and three on the right. A top her head is messy, but layered, bright orange hair that tends to look always disheveled. She tends to let her bangs hang in her face, but when she's trying to make a decent appearance or nervous she'll brush her bangs to the side which gives it a sort of a side-wept look. When she needs to keep hair out of her face she will pin her side swept bangs to the side or brush it back and pin it. She'll also tie up her short hair, which gives her a small little nub of a pony tail. Robin has a lean, athletic build, and worked incredibly hard to shape her petite body into military standards. Her bust size is B32. She has severe scarring, and two robotic limbs (both leg limbs).

She tends to wear a leather jacket and a button up detailed in orange pin-stripes underneath. Sometimes she'll change it up and wear different colors that would look really great with her hair, but each shirt is in fact button up (she will occasionally wear a blouse). The only difference between each shirt is the pattern, the color, and possibly the fabric. She will still wear the traditional camo every once in a while. For pants she normally sticks to neutral colors like white, brown, or black. The type of pants are usually low rise skinnies and made out of cotton. Hardly ever wears jeans unless they are black, and tends to stick with dressier pants. For shoes she sticks to wing tips, or some dressier shoes with low heals (if there is even a heal at all). She'll also wear combat boots. She won't complain to anything, so long as it is closed toe and matches her outfit. Sometimes she'll accessorize with a bow, tie, or a necklace that is usually metallic in color and not accented by jewels.

    HEALTH_
Physically Robin is almost in top condition. She still has to struggle with her robotic limbs, because she's not quite used to having them. She does not have any allergies. Mentally Robin isn't of sound mind. She has been diagnosed with PTSD and Paranoia, and if they were to spiral out of control then panic attacks occur. On top of that she suffers from nightmares, and even worse night terrors.

    VARIABLE TYPE
    Multipurpose Sniper Rifle

    AFFINITY
    Fire

    STRATEGIES
Robin's variable can fire various explosive materials, each with a different purpose. There are ones that explode on contact, and others that stick to a surface until detonated remotely. The first of the two is used primarily for assassinations and area control. She helps taking down enemies from a far so her close-combat companions do not get over whelmed by goons. The explosions are minimal and very controled, usually happening with in the targets skull. This way it does not make much noise if she is trying to be stealthy. However this does not mean that Robin is unable to create larger explosions, and noisier ones for that matter. This is where her second trick comes into play. Robin can use her remote detonation for area control, making targets flee certain areas where they will surely meet her team for the slaughter, or for distraction. If her team needs to get into a certain area, she can have something explode from a distance, and have enemies distracted while her team uses the chaos to their advantage.

  • PERSONALITY_

    HISTORY_
Robin always had a bit of temper, even as a child. Usually when provoked she would react with physical violence, which normally ended up with her getting kicked out of her elementary schools. It was like this for a while, until she started going to counseling and anger management classes. This seemed to sedate her flaring temper in most occasions through out the rest of her time in school. Still Robin's hardships were far from over. Robin didn't see much of a purpose for her life. She wasn't particularly interested in any hobbies, nor had any talent to make something out of herself. At first she tried sports, which seemed to work for a while. It was a great outlet for her pent up steam, but she couldn't see herself making a career out of it. A friend of hers suggested maybe joining ROTC, and seeking a life in the military. Robin seemed to like the sound of that for some reason.

Eventually through ROTC, Robin decided to join the military after graduating highschool. She went to the typical cadet school, an trained herself to become qualified enough to join something like the navy or the marines. It wasn't long before she climbed her way up the academic ladder, and found herself to be an elite among the rest of her class. She wasn't top of her class mind you, but close enough. wip...

For the first time ever I am having troubles coming up with a variable type/weapon and Vect results that would work well with fire. x.x

It can be pretty hard coming with a good variable. If you have a weapon type that you've used with fire in the past, just adapting it to a variable version should work fine. As for VECT results, those are just test results that tell what type of variable types your character is most compatible with, so I'd just go with whatever you want most for your character (short ranged fighter, long ranged fighter, mixed range, etc). You aren't limited to just short or long range — it can be short AND long range, if you so desire. That, and you don't have to have fighting utility at all. If you want to build more of a support unit with a mental type variable, have at it. There's really a lot of possibilities.

Also a heads up to everyone about something pretty important I forgot to mention — the setting for this is the United States. Haven't decided what state we'll be based out of yet, so I'm open to suggestions on that.
