I'm open to a wide range of genres. Obscenely wide. It's harder for me to list all I do like than all I don't like.
My favorite settings are fantasy combined with something else, multiverse, post-apoc, historical (mixed with something else), and futuristic. I'm not limited to those, but it's a good start.
My favorite genres include mystery, adventure, action, drama, tragedy (must be mixed with something else and kept balanced), romance (again must be mixed, and more.
I'm happy to include elements of slice-of-life and romance, but doing them on their own doesn't hold my interest indefinitely.
Twelve years ago, a wicked power swept through the land, enthralling human and elf alike. The relations betwen the two races, already tense, began to unravel as the warlock drove man and elf to attack each other violently. He brought monsters from below the earth forth to assist them in crushing each other.
When the country was on the verge of disaster, strangers appeared. They sought the source of the horrible magic and slew the half-breed warlock, severing his head from his body. His evil magic was put to rest, but the damage was done: lives were taken, the strain on human and elf relations worsened, and it took two years to banish each of the monsters back to the hell from which they came.
Gradually, the people recovered from the after-effects of the attack, but the dead could not return, and the bones of the lost could only be buried and their previous owners, mourned.
At least, until the present day. In the past month, certain people have begun to act woodenly, and their eyes see little. In the past week, creatures emerged from the underworld, and have begun to stand on street corners, watching the people as they fearfully walked the now-frightening lanes.
These were the first signs that the evil warlock had first risen, and now the few people who retained their free will began to call for their previous heroes to return and save them once more. They fear the warlock is returned.
