Haruka walked slowly down the street, stepping in time to the music she was listening to. It was a requiem, a surprisingly appropriate choice for the random shuffle device she carried to make considering she had just attended a cremation. She carried her staff on her back, wrapped in bandage-like strips of paper, however these had begun to blacken and char from the residual heat of the weapon it disguised. It was a powerful stick indeed. Laevateinn, from the ancient norse "damage twig". Of course, it wasn't the real deal; the real deal was still in the hands of the god Freyr, something she reckoned she'd need significantly more than herself to defeat, but it still contained a lot of potential. It was a little heard of relic since it wasn't of much use unless you knew how to use it. Laevateinn, when used correctly, could cause great damage to any magician no matter the distance, provided it came into close contact with a spell cast by that magician. Unfortunately, the user needed to know every tiny detail in the spell it was using as a magician-finder, meaning there was only one living person capable of using it without aid - ironically, that someone wasn't even a magician.

This is where the Yata no Kagami came in. In it's original form, the Yata no Kagami could negate any spell and any esper ability provided it had a "line of sight" to that spell/ability. However, the mirror was broken some time ago in a great fire, and what remains now is only a few fragments. Alone these fragments can do very little. When several are collected by a single magician, the mirror allows the carrier to read every detail of a spell's 'code' - enough to use Laevateinn semi-effectively. The staff was why she was here in Academy City now. She had been given the task of supplying the Index Librorium Prohibitum with the weapon as a means of protection. As it was, she was having a rather hard time actually finding the girl, and it didn't help that there were quite a few other magicians also looking for the child at the same time. She had already encountered and obliterated 2 of them and she was left wondering quite how many magicians that Index's guardian - Imagine Breaker - the enemy of both magic and science - had already defeated. In reality, her main motivation though was to speak with the delinquent Kamijou Touma and find a way of re-enchanting the original powers of the mirror she carried. Just as there was a break inbetween songs, she happened to collide with someone.

(You can decide who she walks into. If you can't, then first come first serve :D I figure it's a way to initiate some kind of conversation before GM introduces the plot.)

Setsuko woke up from her bed drooling slightly. Setsuko wanted to go back to sleep but she forced herself to get of the bed. She quickly dressed up and opened her door. Setsuko was in District Seven, she had travel to district five to attend school. She walked outside the dormitories and into the streets of Academy City. Other students walked passed her as Setsuko slowly walked to District Five. She still felt tired despite sleeping for ten hours. Setsuko looked at her watch and realized that she wouldn't make class in time. Setsuko let a brief sigh and continued her walk to district five.

Setsuko was half-way through District Seven as she saw a small shop selling some bread. She stood in line paitently waiting for her turn. Setsuko reached into her wallet and took a couple of dollars to pay for the bread. She happily bit into her food closing her eyes for a brief moment. Setsuko fell down dropping her bread. She looked up to see another girl with white hair. Unable to talk Setsuko quickly got up and stared at her blankly.

"Ah, sorry." Haruka didn't speak particularly loudly, since it tended to disturb her Clairvoyance, which she was currently using. Her eyes were closed, as usual. She cast a tiny spell with her mind which simply pressed the pause button on her headphones without her having to move her hand, a spell much too small for anyone to bother taking notice of. She tilted her head towards the girl she had run into, but didn't open her eyes. "Say, I don't suppose you can help me, can you? I'm looking for a certain Kamijou Touma. He's rather famous, at least among my kind."

Some days, all Gael wanted to do was not work. This was one of those days.

It was bright out when he left his food truck, a wonderful vehicle that doubled as his home. With his guitar case strapped to his back, music playing in his ears, and his wallet in his pockets, the large youth felt like he wanted to go on a bit of an adventure that day, somewhere that he generally couldn't stop his crepe truck at. Perhaps District 21, for the mountains and nature? District 10, so he could laugh at how pathetic their gravestones were? District 2, just to scout out any good-looking Anti-Skill women? He heard they were teachers as well, and sometimes, Gael really did want to go to school in Academy City. But, alas, that whole 'make all the students an esper' gimmick was really a pain in the ass for magicians like himself. Walking up to a map of Academy City, he took a coin out of his wallet, stepped back five feet, and then tossed it into the air.

With a quick, well-aimed kick, the foreigner struck the coin dead-center and sent it flying towards the map. It made a satisfying smack as it bounced off the map, leaving a very, very slight dent that pointed towards District 7. The District of dormitories, high school girls, and hospitals. Not a bad choice by the coin, huh? He picked up the pace and began to run in that direction, his guitar case bouncing against his back like a massage therapist.

A few minutes of jogging later, Gael got bored, and spontaneously found himself a bench. Taking a small guqin out of the guitar case, he placed it on his lap, and began to pluck away, weaving a nonsensical melody that made it clear just how little he actually understood about the instrument.

"Thank you for the lesson, shishou!" the middle school kids chorused as Saito Kenji smilingly bowed back to them and departed the gym. District 7 was the middle- and high school district and many of the schools offered martial arts clubs. To help make ends meet, Saito had been providing regular lessons several times a week to some of the schools. He made sure to promote his own dojo at these gatherings, a timely investment that drew quite a few new recruits over the last few years.

He generally preferred teaching the officers in Anti-Skill. The older crowd knew exactly what their skills were going to be used for - apprehension and defense - and Saito generally didn't have to deal with the arrogance of hotblooded youths when working with professionals. That being said, teaching younger students had its own reward in seeing their boundless energy and potential being molded into something better.

Saito slung a duffel back across his back, weighted with gi, mitts, and sparring equipment, and headed home. As he crossed a nearby park, he heard a nonsensical tune coming from a teenager sitting on a bench. He was plucking inexpertly at a guitar. Saito vaguely recognized the melody as a strange rendition of "Layla."

Saito walked up to the guitarist, singing,

"What'll you do when you get lonely
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride."

The guitarist looked up at him. Saito tilted his head in greeting. "I think that's how the song goes, yes? I don't follow American musicians very often."

Setsuko looked blankly at Haruka confused at what she was talking about. Setsuko reached into her pocket and took out a pen and paper and worte " Who is Kamijou Touma? Is that a teacher I didn't meet before? " Setsuko took the paper and presented to Haruka before grabbing her things. She felt too tired to even walk so Setsuko sat down on the floor akwardly wanting to go back to sleep. She crossed her legs, and looked upwards so she didn't have to look at Haruka or anyone that would bother her.

Haruka watched the girl seemingly collapse. "Oi, you alright?" She had no idea what to do in this situation. Usually she'd just cast a spell and be done with it, but that was considerably more difficult to do in the bustling city of science. She hesitantly assisted the girl in standing up, then supported her and walked her to a bench so she wouldn't be in the way. The area was crowded, so the only free space was next to a couple of people who seemed to be singing a song she had never heard before. She nodded at them a little, almost un-noticeably, when they looked up.

As a man's voice (curses, it wasn't a cute girl) intertwined with that of Gael's random plucking, he looked up, surprised that a Japanese person was so good at English. While English WAS one of the great international languages, he wouldn't have expected the Japanese to care about being bilingual. After all, America might be an international superpower, but Academy City was infinitely more useful important, simply due to the massive technological advantage this midget-sized city had. Grinning at the stubbly stranger, Gael replied, still plucking away, "Surprised you could make something out of it. I've just being playing whatever I felt like."

"Name's Gael Ericcson,"
he supplied, offering one large hand for a shake while the other still scampered over the fine chords of the instrument, "I run a crepe truck here. You?"

Looked like there was a cute girl with a big black stick looking at them as well. Nice.

The collosal yet slender woman walked along the District 7, slinging a bag to the side. With a height of 190 centimetres, you would think that she was an adult who skipped a bunch of grades. Unfortunately, you are wrong.

She's only fifteen despite her mature, middle-aged looks. That galaxy-black hair and night-hued eyes, that was Mirai. Mikaboshi Mirai. She is a Level 5 Esper with an intriguing ability.

The bustling streets, bustling like the morning. As she walks, she notices something, some people. She approaches them, only to notice a lady and... someone unconscious. As she towered over both of them like Godzilla over Tokyo, she speaks, "oh my, might your friend be alright?"
