the story
The small and secluded town of Grimsby has many secrets.

Such as, there seems to be no end to their wealth and no discernible limit to their resources.

Such as, if you ask a local how Grimsby not only survives in isolation but thrives in it, they would simply point to the Factory that stands amidst the dense forest. A factory that seems forever in disuse, exhibiting signs of neither life nor smoke.

Such as, a staggering majority of the town's population have lived here their entire lives and know very little about the world outside. As if Grimsby is immune to anything that happens to society at large. As if society remains largely unaware of Grimsby.

Or even that the town is governed by the so-called Founding Families, who sit upon their blood-stained coffers behind tall, iron-wrought gates. Hardly ever seen in public, operating upon obscure laws.

Speaking of laws, Grimsby has some odd unspoken rules: don't ask questions, turn a blind eye to the creatures amidst the trees, turn a deaf ear to the screaming, and finally--but most importantly--do not go in the woods. No one has ever broken these rules before.

If they did, they didn't live to tell the tale.

And the last secret pertains to the fact that, for some inexplicable reason, Grimsworth school has begun granting partial scholarships to the 'gifted'--whatever that means--making itself known to the outside world. All eyes point to Grimsby. And the tension grows palpable. After all, the town does not take kindly to outsiders; it has enough of them as it is. Who exactly had possessed those that run the school?

Now, newcomers from various parts of the country are flocking to Grimsby like a murder of crows to a carcass, lured not only by the school, but also by a mystical energy that pulses in the town. The strangeness of Grimsby will not go unnoticed for much longer. There will be sightings, rumors of things lurking in the shadows.

For the first time, the unspoken rule must be uttered:

Do not go in the woods.

But as with any rule, it's only a matter of time before it is broken.

faq

What is the genre and setting of this role-play?

This has elements of horror, fantasy, as well as mystery (thus some parts of the lore will only be revealed as the story progresses). The role-play is set at Grimsworth Preparatory School, which is a boarding school. The year is 1989.

Where is Grimsworth School located?

I deliberately made it vague, because I didn't think it was too important. It may even be its own island!

What kind of content can I expect?

There will be some violence and death, although no violence/death will be executed on playable characters without the character author's permission.

Sexual content (among adult role-players only) is permitted, but explicit scenes must be put in spoilers with a warning.

Do we get to pick special abilities?

No.

Can we choose our own family names if we have a Founding Family character?

No. You must choose from premade surnames. However, ask me first if you are planning on making a Founding Family member so that I can tell you which ones people are applying for and help you plan accordingly.

Be aware if more than one character with the same family name gets accepted, they will most definitely be related.

Are there limited slots?

Yes and no. There are limited spots for Founding Family Heirs and Orphans; as such, there may be competition for these roles.

Outsiders have unlimited spots.

If you go for both a Founder and an Orphan for your first two characters, I will either only accept one or neither. I will not accept both even if they are especially good character sheets because of the limited spots.

Can we reserve spots?

No. There will be no reservations for Founding Family Heirs and Orphans since I want everyone to have an equal chance at getting these roles.

What are the current cast restrictions?

No more Founding Family children and twins. We also need more Outsiders.

rules and expectations

RULES

♛ GM word is law. I'll try my best to take everyone's suggestions into consideration, but I will always have the final word. If you don't agree with the way I run things, that's perfectly fine. The door won't hit you on your way out.

♛ Abide by the fundamental role-playing rules. This means no godmodding, powerplaying, and so on.

♛ Do not start drama. The boot out the door will be swift.

♛ I expect you to keep up without constantly needing my aid. This means posting for all your characters on time without needing me to remind you. In addition: I don't mind questions, but if it's something you can easily do some research on independently (i.e. "Did someone interact with my character? Where is the Infirmary again?"), then please do the necessary legwork yourself.

♛ This is an adept role-play, so I'm going to require more than just one-liners. No novel-length posts though, please. Just keep it straightforward and provide enough material for others to work with.

♛ Newcomers are limited to one character max. After a month, I may allow them to create more characters depending on their activity. Ask first before creating more characters!

♛ Do not post OOCs in the threads. There is a Discord server for that.

♛ NPCs are non-playable unless stated otherwise.

♛ Ensure that your bbcodes are mobile-friendly, or I will ask you to edit them.

♛ Don't post WIPs.

♛ Until I approve your character sheet(s), don't post in the IC thread. Let me know if you ever edit your character sheet in the future so I can re-approve it.

♛ Character face-claims are not required, but a description must be provided. Should you choose to provide a face-claim for your character, stick to art face claims only. (No anime pls)

♛ Prior to character creation, have a gander at the faq to see the current cast restrictions. (NOTE: If you have too many characters of a particular gender/type, I may restrict you from making more of such characters accordingly.)

♛ All IC posts must distinctly specify the character's current whereabouts & interactions. Placement is up to you; just make sure that the information is distinguishable.

POSTING EXPECTATIONS

You are expected to post at least once a week. This will be monitored using the #activity-checklist (See Discord).

♛ The deadline is only applicable to characters that are in an interaction. If your character isn't in an interaction, then you do not need to post for them. However, you must always have one active character to be considered an active player.

♛ To illustrate, if someone interacts with your character today, you will have at the very least 7 days before the next Monday 1200NN (GMT+8) to reply. The deadline always falls on a Monday.

♛ If you are not on hiatus and fail to meet the deadline, a star will be docked from your name on the checklist for every active character you failed to post for. If you lose all three stars, you may be removed from the role-play as a result. Stars reset every two months.

♛ People have the right to post ahead of you should you fail to reply for your character in a timely manner. If you fail to reply to an interaction, us GMs MAY intervene and salvage the interaction, depending on the situation. Your character may be godmodded (although we will reach out to you first and try to figure out what to do) if they are severely holding up the role-play.

♛ If you don't use a character for more than two consecutive IC chapters, they will be removed from the cast list. So make sure the amount of characters you make is an amount you can reasonably handle. Remember that GM posts =/= chapters. Chapters are indicated by the roman numeral in the post. It's pretty huge, so you shouldn't be able to miss it.

♛ If you need to go on a break, you may. However, as with everything else, this also has a limit. You are permitted up to four weeks of hiatus, which will reset every three months. If this is too little time, dropping out may be the best course of action for you. In the case of voluntary removal, you can always come back eventually, provided some time (at least three months) has passed since you dropped out. However, if you are forcibly removed from the role-play due to inactivity, you will not be able to join again.

Should you drop out, your characters will be archived here.

roles & cs

ROLES

(GM'S NOTE: Anything that isn't listed here is a non-playable role. This includes the locality inside Grimsby, as well as the local students who aren't related to the founding families.)

The Heirs/Heiresses of the Founding Families (LIMITED SLOTS, PLAYABLE)

There are five founding families: Abernathy, Blackbourne, Florence, Sheridan, and Venture. They are essentially school royalty, a step above Student Leaders. They have the most authority in the school and are the only ones allowed in the forest (though no one else is aware of this fact). Because of their authority, they have special privileges. However, they have as much responsibilities as they do privileges. They are in charge of keeping the school safe from the forest, as well as other upkeep that helps the school running. This is to prepare them to succeed their parents in leading Grimsby.

The heirs and heiresses are a very close-knit cult-like group who grew up together. They have a trauma bond-esque type of relationship with each other due to their shared experiences, making them wary of anyone else that isn't a part of their circle.

The Outsiders / The Chosen (NO LIMIT, PLAYABLE)

New students. They may have started school very recently, or as far back as fifteen years ago. Regardless, they would still be considered an outsider by the locals who have lived in Grimsby their entire lives.

Some of these students are on scholarships, some may have even received a letter from the Headmaster himself. For whatever reason, they were chosen. Soon, they will find out why... for the better or worse.

The first clue has to do with their recurring dreams. All of them dream of an endless labyrinth, in which they are looking for something--something hidden in the school. But what?

(GM'S NOTE: This is the most flexible of all the other roles because their history would not be affected by the lore.)

The Orphans (3 SLOTS, PLAYABLE)

They woke up in the forest one day, not too long ago, with no memory of a time before that. They are imperfect creations with an unknown purpose. All they have to go on is that voice in their head that coaxes them into doing terrible things.

Steal. Kill. Take them to the woods.

Is this the devil who whispers? Try as they might to ignore it, it grows ever restless.

ALISTAIR BLACKBOURNE

BASIC INFO

Name:
Alistair Blackbourne

Alias(es):
N/A

Founding Family Child

Age & Birthday:
17 Years Old
September 22

Year:
Senior

Height:
6'1"

Residence Hall:
Venture Hall

Electives:
Business Management, Political Science, Speech and Debate

Extra-curricular Activities:
Fencing, Honors Society, International Relations Club, Student Leader (Peer-Mediated Instruction)

BIOGRAPHY

Before Alistair was even born, his entire life was already laid out for him. Growing up, he did everything he could to meet his family’s expectations, as the alternative meant the worst sort of punishments. He has become something of an overachiever as a result, excelling in all his classes and taking on too many responsibilities than he can reasonably handle. By any means, he must succeed in everything he does. For when something goes awry, the first person he blames is himself.

It is a good thing he hardly gets any sleep at night; it gives him time to do the work that he otherwise wouldn’t have time to do. An over thinker, he dwells far too long on one task before moving on to the next. He is endlessly preoccupied with the little details, worried about the repercussions despite being fully aware he’s being irrational. This is what is clearly a product of seventeen long years of trauma.

As with anyone that is born into a tumultuous and abusive environment, Alistair holds many scars—both physical and mental—from his childhood. He exhibits all the telltale signs of one that suffers from a panic disorder. He expects the worst to happen everyday, suffering from a persistent dread that never left him since he was a child. Mornings are especially difficult to wake up to. At night it is hard to sleep. He would wake up in the early morning when dawn has not yet broken, sweating and heart beating out of his chest, each time thinking he is about to draw his last breath.

Try as he might to hold himself with an air of dignity and cold, calculated composure, if you look closely, the cracks of his facade show through. It might show itself now and then in the twitching of his eye, or his trembling hands, or his shaky breath. Yet, he would never admit the truth, feeling that it is a sign of weakness.

After all, Alistair is not as aloof as he would like to be. Though he is at times insensitive in his actions and words (all thanks to his father and grandfather’s example), he still has a compassionate heart. One that would still choose good over evil and help those who are in need of it. Alistair believes that this is all thanks to his siblings. If it weren’t for them, he would have probably ended up just like the men before him.

OTHERS

The Skull - One of Alistair’s most prized possessions. It is with him quite often, though he hides it in his bag to avoid the inquisitive gazes of onlookers. He understands it must look weird to be bringing around a skull in school, but there’s a good reason why he’s so attached to it.

A Helping Hand - When Alistair was thirteen, he heard the cries of a troubled girl in the forest. At first, he thought he was just hearing things. Then he saw her, and he knew she had to be real.

He hesitated, remembering his vows. She’s not meant to be in this forest. If he just left her here, she would be forever lost, and the Founding Families would be safe. But emotion won over reason. Taking her by the hand, he showed her to safety. The girl was thankful, but all the while Alistair feared for his life. Technically, he didn’t break his vow. However, if his grandfather were to find out about this, he would be in great trouble.

Five years passed without his grandfather knowing. Now, Alistair sees the girl’s face in school everyday. The memory of what he did haunts him still, but he knows that the alternative would have broken his soul.

Piano - He and his sister have a shared love for music. When they were children, they would do duets, with Alistair playing the piano and Serena playing the violin. This was how they drowned out the sounds of their father’s abuse against their mother. Alistair is exceptionally good at playing the piano. He is partial to the likes of Rachmaninoff and Beethoven, drawn to their tragic lives because they mirror his own.

Father (Amos Blackbourne) - A bitter man because of his broken ambitions. Emasculated by his grandfather and treated as though he were unimportant by the other Founding Families, Amos has resorted to taking out his anger on his wife and children.

Despite Amos’ treatment of him, Alistair still yearns for his approval and love. This only makes him disgusted with himself. Why does he still harbor a love for a father that is largely absent and hurtful?

Little Brother (Avery Blackbourne) - Years ago, Serena and Alistair made a pact: they would try their best to shelter their youngest brother from their father’s abuse. If neither of them couldn’t have a normal childhood, Avery should at least have one.

And so, whenever Avery would do something he wasn’t meant to do, Serena and Alistair would be there to save him. [TW: ABUSE] They would often take the blame, bracing the beatings with as much courage they could muster. They would take Avery outdoors or play music for him while it rained hellfire in the master bedroom, doing the best they can to distract him from all the sadness, the hurt, and the confusion.

But it was not enough to save him.

Alistair believes it was a direct consequence of his actions that led to Avery’s muteness. He still blames himself constantly. Even worse, Serena blames him too. And occasionally, he would have nightmares of Avery’s pale, sleeping face through an open casket. Gone forever, without him being able to stop it.

Outsiders - He does not care to admit it, but he is envious of the Outsiders.

Though they may not all have perfect lives, it is still—without a shadow of a doubt—better than his. At least they have a choice. At least they can escape whatever prison encases them.

SERENA BLACKBOURNE

BASIC INFO

Name:
Serena Blackbourne

Titles:
Founding Family Child

Age & Birthday:
16
September 10th

Year:
Junior

Height:
5'7"

Residence Hall:
Florence

Electives:
Music Theory, Latin III

Extra-curricular Activities:
Fencing, Orchestra (Violin)

PERSONALITY

Serena, second born of the Blackbourne children, has always had to live by a strict set of rules and high expectations; failure is never worth the repercussions. So she does her best to excel at what she does. Having become somewhat of a perfectionist and would take it as a personal blow when it doesn’t meet the standards she sets for herself.

It’s not uncommon for her to turn to music or books as a way to quiet her mind and keep herself busy. Playing her violin until exhaustion had her falling asleep with the bow still grasped in her hand, or listening to loud music though tapes.

For a lot of her life, the only people she could really trust were her two siblings, Alistair and Avery since it was them against the world, everyone else always felt like a threat that should be greeted with caution and coldness. Being quiet and unnoticed has always been her best method of avoiding people as well as many of their unsavory tendencies.

Although Serena isn’t the most approachable person, she does have some softness beneath that hardened exterior. She’d willingly offer a hand to anyone in need and can be protective of those she cares about, however with that can come a grudge like no other, at times not even taking the chance to hear the other side of things. Her patience can be a fickle thing, at times she possesses an endless supply and other times it's as short as a fuse

OTHERS

Extra 1 -
Father (Amos Blackbourne): Fear is a term that has always been closely tied to her father. From a young age Serena has done her best to avoid his wrath and either go completely unnoticed or stay as close to his good side as was possible in a man full of hate.

Of course this isn’t always possible especially with such a man who could become enraged with the drop of a hat. This of course led to a scarring experience, (one of many) that resulted in a deep seeded fear of deep bodies of water. At times even a bath can leave her sweating and trembling.

Mother (Samantha Blackbourne): Samantha has always reminded Serena of a doll; lovely in appearance but empty on the inside. A mother in action but lacking in feeling it seemed at times she was more of a punching bag than a person.

Birds: Birds have always been one of Serena’s favourite creatures to admire, they’re free to travel anywhere they want. Their lives are so simple and majestic.

Violin: She has always loved the sound of the violin and playing it herself. It had easily been something she’d bonded over with her brother, often playing together, Alistair at the piano and her with her violin. Drowning out everything bad and filling it with music and peace. She’s become quite talented with the instrument.

Avery Blackbourne: The youngest of the Blackbournes had easily been the most innocent of the children. Something Serena and her elder brother had done their best to protect. Taking punishments had always seemed worth it. If only she could have been there when it really mattered since Alistair had failed when it really mattered.

No one has told her of the events that led to her youngest brother being mute, not even after it fractured the bond between the siblings.

    Personality & Likes and dislikes
Feyre has been often described by her friends as a rather intelligent young woman with a penchant for learning on the fly. She often times comes across as cold and demeaning but it’s only to keep others from getting too close to her. She keeps a lot of things close to her chest and can seem secretive. Those who are close to her often see her as the mom of the group and she is constantly worried about their health and mental well-being. She loves playing the violin and can often be found in the practice rooms playing pieces some of which she has written herself. When she plays its like she becomes almost a different person, there is a softness in her face and a relaxed demeanor about her. Only her sister ever really sees the true softness that she can have.

Feyre often finds herself shying away from others even within their elite group. She sees all her fellow founding kids like they are something to be protected after what happened. She is the first one to jump on the defensive of them and someone you would always want on your side in a fight.

Feyre enjoys having tea on a daily basis whether it is hot or cold it doesn’t matter to her. She prefers her tea sweetened with a splash of milk. Often she can be found curled up with a good book in her favorite chairs or outside enjoying the weather. She loves thunderstorms in the summer and can often be found out in them letting the warm rainfall on her skin.

    personality
    others

An intelligent, confident, silver-tongued woman, Aoife is not afraid to do anything to get what she wants and is not above any kind of foul play. She will readily cheat to gain an advantage. She is highly adept at lying and manipulating people; and apathetic to the suffering of others. She is not averse to disposing of those who get in her way and is not easily intimidated, usually speaking to others directly and arrogantly. She cares little for others unless they are part of her inner circle. She considers others as tools, something she can sacrifice to get what she wants.

She can be easily angered on some occasions when things will not go according to plan. She is a sore loser, a hypocrite, and someone who will never admit her faults.

She is perfectly elegant in appearance, with a doll-like face that tapers down to a small chin and well-maintained brows that frame her eyes. Her blue eyes, so electric they could light up Christmas lights, are one of her defining features: they are an impossibly pale and lucid color that is at once mesmerizing and frightening to behold. Her other defining feature is her luscious red curls that are often styled half up - half down hairstyle.

She has a fair complexion that is well maintained. She is obsessed with taking the utmost care of her skin: making sure to do her skincare and apply sunscreen religiously.

Aoife has an elegant fashion style: preferring to wear skirts or dresses instead of pants. She doesn't like to wear jewelry though she can never be seen without her black ribbon choker.

    Preferences:
    • Tea. Aoife enjoys anything related to tea. In fact, she’s quite obsessed with it. She makes her own blend.
    • Reading books. Literate and academic, the heiress of Sheridan spends most of her free time with a book in hand.
    • Flowers. Aoife appreciates beauty when it comes to flowers. She also finds it fascinating that flowers can be used for communication.
    • The sun. Aoife does not appreciate how bright it is and how it can burn her skin. Sunny days are enjoyable only if she is under a shade or indoors.
    • Rudeness. Her blood boils easily when someone is rude to her. She couldn’t understand how someone would dare treat her with such a primitive attitude.
    • Outsiders. Need she say more? Aoife thinks they should not exist nor be admitted. They do nothing but ruin the prestige and exclusivity of their school.

    Hobbies:
    • Horticulture and Gardening. Surprisingly, Aoife enjoys growing plants and is knowledgeable about the subject. She often uses her plants for tea.
    • Painting and Embroidery. Her mother insisted for her to learn the craft that she soon found enjoyable. She finds it relaxing to keep her hands busy.
    • Fencing. The hobby which her father asked her to do. She despised the activity until she realized that it is a great stress reliever.

Casey was born in Munich, but grew up all over the world. His mother is a high-ranking member of the United States Air Force and his father is a career veteran at the State Department. Due to logistical reasons, the two never married, but have been "together" for almost twenty years. Most of Casey's childhood was spent moving between his mother's postings, but he spent every summer and alternating holidays with his father. He has a good relationship with both of his parents, and although their feelings have cooled toward one another over the years, they remain cordial for the sake of their son.

Although he didn't have a typical childhood, Casey feels that he grew up happy and cared for and has few complaints about the adventurous life he's been privileged enough to live so far. Due to frequent moves, some of Casey's schooling has been inconsistent, but that changed when he was offered a scholarship to the Grimsworth School at fourteen. It was the first time that he had ever been truly away from his family, but the change of scenery was exciting. A friendly person by nature, it didn't take long for Casey to get involved in many of the school's activities, though he quickly discovered that outsiders like himself weren't always looked upon or treated kindly.

  • CASEY DAWSON-LEPAGE
    basics
    biography
    others

    Personality:
If asked, “what’s Casey actually like?” most people would probably ask, “who the hell is that?”

Casey has gone by Baby for as long as he can remember, but he hopes his soft and delicate nickname doesn’t fool you. While he is calm and laid-back for the most part, he is sure of himself and confident, not easily manipulated or deterred once he’s made up his mind. This stubbornness can sometimes come back to bite him in the ass, but Baby rolls with the punches; he’s suffered several in his short life so far.

Endlessly curious, wide-eyed and excitable, Baby sinks into life with his own brand of sweetness. A social butterfly, he is always looking to have fun and hoards new experiences the way seniors hoard antiques.

    Likes & Dislikes:
Baby is one-hundred percent sure that he likes more things than he dislikes, simply because it takes quite a bit to get his shorts in a twist. Being excluded upsets him as much as being talked down to. He flat out refuses to deal with bullies, or people he finds ignorant, and he’d sooner walk away from someone yelling at him than yell back.

Since the actions of others are beyond his control, Baby tries to keep his own surroundings positive. He loves being outdoors, taking long hikes or sitting by the water where he can relax and watch the clouds for a while. When he’s not falling in love with nature and all she has to offer, Baby keeps his spirits high with sugary drinks and good music.

    Appearance:
Baby is a little guy, but he’s never let a silly thing like height get him down. Willowy, lightly tanned and sporting a head of thick, golden-brown hair, Baby would realize that he turns a few heads if he would ever bother to look. His eyes are a warm shade of brown and are further brightened by a gentle, genuine smile.

As far as clothes go, Baby isn’t flashy or fancy. His pockets are pretty empty, so he can’t afford the best of anything and most of the staples in his closet are secondhand from the thrift store. Aside from his beanie collection, his pride and joy is his mother’s old bomber jacket; it’s sporting a few patches these days, but Baby would let it turn to rags before he got rid of it.

Purposefully quiet and exercising a fair amount of self-control, Dawn prefers to observe and absorb rather than act. With a memory like a steel trap, it’s rare that she forgets anything, but she’s not above pretending when it serves her interests. Dawn has an estranged relationship with the truth and prefers to live in her head, though sometimes her fantasy world slips into the real world. Regardless of the situation, she lies just because, and has been lying for so long that most now see her as unreliable. Dawn doesn’t lose any sleep over this self-inflicted wound to her reputation.

Intelligent, secretive and patient, Dawn allows others to project parts of themselves onto her so that they see what they want. There are only a few people—Feyre Abernathy being one of them—who know what really makes Dawn tick, but even then, she maintains a finger-length of distance just to be on the safe side. Dawn would prefer that no one know her, yet she years to be understood.

Aside from being in on secrets and keeping a large sum of her own, Dawn’s major pastime is writing. Whether it be journaling in one of her many diaries, editing and submitting dueling articles to the school paper under a pseudonym, or spinning private tales for herself, she’s rarely without a notebook and a pencil. On off chance that she’s not writing, or curled up somewhere with a good book, Dawn enjoys tempting fate by wandering in Grimswood Forest. She has a special affinity for the water, and has been practicing the dead man’s float since childhood in an effort to cruelly prank anyone who is unfortunate enough to find her. So far, she’s only managed to trick her father, and her best friend, Feyre.

    Likes & Dislikes:
There are plenty of things that Dawn likes, but most of what she dislikes centers around people and their mannerisms. If you’re boisterous, braggadocios, too concerned with football, don’t believe in ghosts, won’t smoke a cigarette, prefer vinyl over cassette tapes, or insist on putting milk in your coffee instead of cream, then chances are that Dawn thinks she’s better than you. Rather than argue about any of that, however, she believes that everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

    personality

    Appearance:
It’s important to note that Dawn takes after her mother. When people see the Venture heiress with her father, they wonder if the two are related at all. While he’s a tall and angular with a robust head of wavy, formerly auburn-colored hair, Dawn is small with cherubic features. The only thing that the two share are their eyes, both incredibly round and a placid shade of tawny brown. She is easily recognizable in a crowd by her poofy blonde hair and she prefers to keep it on the short side. Aside from brown eyeliner and a few different shades of red lipstick, Dawn doesn’t like to fuss with makeup outside of special occasions.

Her style of dress could be described as preppy, with her wardrobe sporting a number of skirts, slacks and cardigan sweaters in muted colors. She likes to wear jewelry, and has a gold, heart-shaped locket that she hasn’t taken off since childhood; the picture inside remains a mystery.

    Privilege often breeds hubris.

Hunter’s parents were in no position to have children. Rich, enterprising young socialites, the pair had yet to grasp the mental maturity and accountability that came hand in hand with adulthood. Parties and globe-trotting were the order of the day, and they were more than happy to continue that willful bliss for the rest of their lives.

Having children was initially a minor “mistake”, but soon it became more than that. It became a nuisance. An inconvenience. A distraction. When Hunter became old enough, they began shipping him to boarding schools while they traveled the world, and summers were spent with a revolving door of nannies and high-end babysitters. They raised him through postcards and holiday phone calls. Rarely did he see them in person.

It was around last year that Hunter was enrolled in Grimsworth. Out of sight, out of mind so to speak. Hunter doesn’t care to talk about his family; truthfully, the subject is a matter of contention to him, and he is quick to become hostile in a line of questioning. His ill will towards the subject matter has only worsened since his brother Emery enrolled at the school as well.

  • HUNTER NOLAN
    basics
    biography
    others

    Appearance:
“Mad Dog” - also known on the football field as a living brick wall. A rough masculinity is exuded from the teen’s very presence. Hunter is a titan among his peers - measuring in at 6 feet 2 inches, the footballer has the wide, muscular girth and strength to match. His facial features are sharp and defined, as if life was infused within a stone carving. With piercing dark eyes and even darker hair, Hunter could be considered handsome - even if his face is often trapped in a contemptuous scowl.

Hunter is a creature of habit when it comes to his apparel. With little fashion creativity, he does not stray far from athletic wear. Letterman jackets and gym shoes are his staple casual clothes. His school uniform is perhaps the most dressed up the teen ever gets, and even that outfit he manages to make look informal simply by wearing it. He chafes at the tie like a dog pulling at its leash. Whenever the opportunity provides itself, Hunter is quick to do away with the tie entirely and stow it in his pocket.

    Personality:
Barely bridled passion encapsulates the all-american quarterback. Trapped in the hellish quest of teenage self-identity, Hunter is marked by his volatile emotions. Latent violence manifests most often in the form of aggression, and the high schooler’s unfortunate use of it features prominently when scared, challenged, confused, or otherwise forced out of his comfort zone. He tries - often in vain - to control his wilder side, but like a mad dog, once his fuse has been lit, it’s hard for him to calm the raging storm within. Football has become a viable outlet for the boy - an unfortunate thing for opposing players who find themselves in his path.

Hunter’s temper obfuscates his softer, lesser known qualities. The boy is surprisingly intelligent and quiet when free from outside stimuli. Outside of sports, he can sometimes be found in the library with a good book - though he prefers not to be caught by his jock peers. Less noticeable is his unseen thirst for knowledge. He is an unquestionably curious individual - one could even describe him as slightly nosy, though the male does not care to voluntarily stick his nose into others business. The brutish male tends to notice far more than he lets on. He never seems too far from any drama or event happening at school, and his hawkish eyes can be seen observing quietly what’s going on…

    School Status:
In the year he's been at Grimsworth, Hunter has made a remarkable name for himself as something of an alpha dog. Apparently strength - both physical and mental - are attract followers in spades. Hunter has a sizable connection of constituents that tag along with him. Most are other meathead jocks, but sprinkled in the mix are underclassmen, rich kids, and inexplicably some adoring female fans. Some hang around just to see what he’ll do. Others are just relieved that they're on the good side of his temper. Hunter doesn’t mind the popularity - so long as they don’t interfere with his day to day routines.

  • Middle class suburbia was everything to the Henley family. Richie was raised first in New Hampshire, where both convenience stores and white picket fence homes abounded. To his parents, it represented a sense of normalcy for their very much not normal child. But wanderlust called; much like their son, their desire for change quickly resurfaced, and after years of making friends with glossy, fake smiles and perfectly permed styles, the Henley family began looking to relocate.

Next they moved to Las Vegas. A new job meant a nice big house with a pool - and a few miles from the casinos, to boot. It was tolerably better than the tv mothers from the East Coast, but still, still Richie squirmed in his skin. He wanted something new and bombastic.

Receiving the scholarship to Grimsworth was a welcome surprise. A new opportunity was always welcome to the teen, and he didn’t waste much time in packing his bags and moving. He can only hope this experience doesn’t grow old as quickly as the others did.

  • Appearance
A youthful slimness is a predominant feature of Richie’s build. At the lofty height of 5’10”, the redhead is remarkably lanky, having just the bare minimum of body muscle and fat to support his willowy frame. He often remarks that a good, strong breeze could blow him over, and his efforts to bulk up have led to no evident results. Adding to his “starving artist” visage are his pronounced and gaunt facial structure. Much of his mother lies therein, most prominently in his striking amber eyes.

He enjoys being on the cutting edge of fashion. No look is too robust or outlandish for him - so long as it is stylish. Most days he opts for comfort, but one can never tell. Even his most simplistic outfits hold the weight of elegant design, and he is very pleased when others compliment his look. Dark colors are a staple of his. And of course, the ultimate accessory: a cigarette held between his fingers or lips whenever he finds time to light one. How he continues to smuggle them into school without being caught is unknown.

    Personality
    Whimsical. Unorthodox. Odd.

It’s difficult to pinpoint what exactly makes Richie Henley tick. No one word can accurately describe his true essence. An outlier even amongst his peers, the teen holds a precocious spirit . Reserved in some instances, outspoken in the other, the boy seems to follow his own inner whimsy wherever that may lead him. Those who have been in his company often come away from the experience wanting more, inherently and inexplicably curious of the teen’s strange, enigmatic essence. He is pleasant enough; inherently kind to a fault , he exudes a quiet, calming confidence in his constant manners and his easy, leisurely way of speaking. But there is an odd fluidity to him. A looseness, of both body and spirit, that does not at all fit his age. At times, one gets the impression that the teen is not really all there. Richie is prone to a wayward mind, and he tends to drift away - abruptly at times - from both conversation and action to his own lofty thoughts.

One of Richie’s downfalls is his passive nature. He despises confrontation and drama. His desire to remain neutral in all disputes and/or major decisions has led him to a “going along to get along” type of attitude, and he tends to adopt a head in the sand tactic when trouble arises.

    biography
    others

Calista was born to a pair on the road. Exposed to a life of travel, it meant she was raised on the wilder side. Discipline seems to stem further down the line in regard to her free-minded parents.

Largely home-schooled due to the movement of her parents and lack of conventional upbringing, it was a wonder that Calista was accepted under the scholarship offered in high school as a late entry. She had high enough scores.

Of course, she didn’t always have her wild appearance. This was something that became a profound transformation of sorts due to the cruelty of other children she’d been around in the past. Plus, the pressures of living among the rich. Calista changed up her appearance, becoming more comfortable in the alternative fashions. Things that would make the normally conservative families prune.

As a whole, she’s a new arrival among the schooling community. So, she doesn’t entirely know what to expect from the other students. Who would be considered friend or foes?

Not that she cares too much about what people think about her. Even if she says something a little mean, it’s not like she’ll lose sleep over it.

Calista is very unapologetic about who she is.

  • CALISTA SHAW
    basics
    biography
    others

    APPEARANCE
Calista is most at home in an outfit suited better to style than comfort, especially among the halls of Grimsworth and the elitist families of Grimsby itself.

She enjoys the outspoken sense of style that appeals to her body’s sculpture. What naturally would be defined asset wise, bringing to mind her curves. Mostly by the usage of underbust corsets, tapering her middle to define the waist.

Following the whimsical influence of her mother-- a flower child, Calista likes to amp the wild and free vibe up with her bleached then dyed sky blue hair, heavily accented by her soft makeup and doll-like complexion. Her colour palette tends to more or less lean toward the softer shade or the neutral tones, given her makeup and hair is the biggest attraction. This includes the crescent moon that she has drawn over her perfectly shaped brow.

Showing a little love for the forces of nature she adores, she is largely drawn to the oddities that the moon and stars hold.

Unexplained. Mysterious. Vain. Unapologetic. Those are the stars to her.

Calista has fair alabaster skin, often flushed at the cheeks. But it could be the illusion of her blush. She has a count of five beauty marks; two on her face, three on her chest. The three at her chest are appropriately placed and run across the slight jut of her collarbones, only seen when wearing off-shoulder shirts.

In moments of privacy is where Calista wears singlets, flowy shorts or sweatpants. Both this and the encounter of her without make-up is a rare one.

    PERSONALITY
    LIKES & DISLIKES

Miss Shaw is quite quick-tempered or snarky. For the most part, it has become a defence in the environment among the social elite.

She’s always quick with a comeback, never one to back down from a fight or argument. Some would call her stubborn for this. Calista would see it as being assertive. Standing up for her beliefs and views, even if this means calling someone out; in the rudest way possible at times.

Example: I’m sorry I told you the truth you stupid fucking bitch.

She doesn’t have the time for people and their bitchiness. Drama amuses her, but only when she’s not involved. Given her personality is like being brushed backwards with a thistle bush, it’s a little difficult to avoid.

Among the classic sass and temper she presents with, Calista has a little secret. Her love with the ridiculous smutty novels a forty-something-year-old woman would read. Something that would take only a few hours to read, the main love interest is Greek God-like and for that fact, baseline fiction. Since the presence of men and women in her life have been nothing but baseless sex and more effort than it’s worth.

In most ways, the effort is only expelled in her appearance, witty and bitchy comebacks, maintaining the colouring of her hair, and attempting to get under people’s skin.

Born with a silver spoon in Zeke’s mouth doesn’t seem to cut it. This boy probably had something platinum in his mouth from the moment he was born, raised by two disgustingly rich and old school Grimsby parents who married by their own parents' arrangements.

Ezekiel knew from a young age that his marriage would be planned in a similar instance. For the mere purpose of pure bloodline, keeping it within the elitist families of the mysterious and secretive town.

Thus, Outsiders who were free to whatever emotion and love disgusted him from a young age. Not that he ever likes them mingling.

A hatred for the lower class taught by his family but experienced first hand out of jealousy.

What only seemed to be amplified by a family secret: the half-class spawn his father created with a Outsider whore. Someone from a class not of their own.

    His half-sister.

A scorn on his family tree, much like the mother that tried to sell the position of the child’s legitimacy. Or the fact she carried Florence blood within veins--this very scorn that would become one among the Outsiders in Grimsby.

Zeke prides his time between trying to be his utter best and nothing less. To venting his frustrations out on sexual partners and navigating the social flock for a suitable bride of breeding.

  • ZEKE FLORENCE
    basics
    biography
    others

    APPEARANCE
Ezekiel Florence has characteristically cold blue-gray eyes that never seem to shift from the listless or void of emotion. His presented coldness isn’t lessened by the long scar over his right eye.

Hair is blonde, impeccably groomed. Long at the top and short on the sides. Always slicked back with product, as if everyday was a formal event.

His posture is always strong and strict, kept to a level of discipline befitting his station and air. Something that he never understands is when the lower class don’t show themselves in a manner of respect.

Everything Zeke wears screams metrosexual. Looking good for himself and the people around him is extremely important. After all, he needs to present well for any potential ladies that could marry into his family line. Ushering in a security for his family and the bloodline.

The only break from his majority of traditional dress and appearance is the single six gauge stretcher. It’s an ivory and wood mix. A carved crest of his family, exposing where his true loyalties are.

    PERSONALITY
Ezekiel isn’t far from his appearance in manner of strictness. He’s blunt but polite. Doesn’t like the lower-class, let alone mingling with them; finding they pollute the very air of the school halls.

Yet, he’s not strict enough from stopping himself with mingling with the lower-class for sexual relations. Merely, he looks at the Outsider class women as whores. Women that he demands utmost respect from because they should be grateful to even have the school board take notice in their useless existence. Let alone, allow them to attend the halls among the classy and perfected nobility.

Yes, he has insultingly paid an Outsider for sex after finishing. In other cases, he’s threatened others to keep quiet.

Zeke isn’t afraid to remove obstacles from his line of sight. Or that of his friends. In the matter of personal growth and gain.
By no means is he stupid. His best subjects follow; language, sciences and mathematics. Other subjects, Zeke maintains a respectable grade. But is always disgusted when the likes of an Outsider passes him in the marks.

Moments like these are when his temper shines through. He’s not one to pass up frightening someone into hiding their talents, or forcing them to bottle it for the sake of their family.

Zeke’s masculine side is often described as toxic by one of his newer peers and infuriating Outsider, Calista Shaw.

Born to a single mother who was a starlet actress, without the knowledge of her father, seemed to be the designed fate of Persephone. She was ruled and shaped to be one person for the sake of her mother for the personal goals and wishes of the starlet that wanted something more.

So, she taught her daughter everything she wanted, made sure she was polite and reared up well.

All the while dangling little things over the young girl’s head.

Little questions that came with time for most children to a single parent.
Who was her daddy? What was he like? Did mama leave him? Did Percy make daddy mad and that’s why he’s not here?

Not once was a question answered.

Everything was like a little game to her mother. So, Persephone learnt to live a second life in the books she read. Or in the clothes she made in moments of privacy. Tucked away from her mother’s influence.

Everything became rather strange the moment she moved to Grimsby. A strangeness and terror she couldn’t express or explain. Something that led her to being helped by a boy, and since he’s been something like a prince to her. Straight out of a tale she’d tuck herself away to read.

Her acceptance into Grimsworth came with a high paid cash price from her mother.

  • PERSEPHONE FRELING
    basics
    biography
    others

    APPEARANCE

Persephone has fair pale skin, rosy cheeks and innocent eyes. Like her mother, she has the woman’s appealing features: pale skin, high cheekbones and sharp jaw. Yet, has inherited her father’s grey-green eyes.

Her hair has always been kept long, beautiful, and healthy--doll-like with the way her mother liked Percy to keep it. Combed down and brushed into impossibly complex styles and often fashioned with flowers entangled in her locks.

Those moments were the rare moments of freedom where Persephone chose what she liked. Flowers could be a normal range of whatever was in season. Normally, she liked the shades in violet-blue, blush pink and anything soft like her complexion.

Her attires are often selected by her mother, who holds a classy and modest aesthetic. As if she was always to draw the attention of some people. Not all. A rather selective bunch for that matter.

Alone, Persephone likes to explore the whimsical but classy side of dated fashions: flowy dresses, flowers, pastel colours, little waist trainers with painted canvas desires.

Due to Persephone’s rather classic and dated fashions--taking interest in centuries long past and making them modernised--she crafts most of her favourite dresses and outfits.

For the most part, when it’s her dearest mother in charge of her wardrobe she follows the light academia aesthetic.

    PERSONALITY

Percy is very quietly spoken. Most of her dialogue or thoughts don’t pass her mind. Considerably rather anxious and awkward, Miss Freling has lived a life manipulated by her mother. Something that she’s both aware of in some circumstances and in others,

    She merely isn’t.

Merely a girl who likes fairytales, because they aren’t real. She’s been trapped in some sort of wild play in motion from the moment she was born.

The lack of a stable parental figure has led this girl to second-guessing most things in her life, even the rare kindness from others. Considering her mother has always lived by the kindnesses being an actor and taught her child the same.

There is one instance in her life she’s never questioned a momentary kindness. In a boy. Now, she’s found herself living out a whimsical puppy-like crush for that moment. He took her away from a situation of danger, something she knows her mother would have never done.

For the most part, Percy likes to keep to herself and not raise any conflict. She’s a lover of art, music and reading. Perfectly polite and educated in the way of respecting people.

Her imagination is her safe place amongst all the chaos her mother raises.

PERSONALITY

Fuckboy with Commitment Issues
The man often leaves broken hearts in his wake, for his relationship with girls are flimsy at best. He flirts with them, makes out with them, sometimes he may even have one night stands. But he makes it clear from early on that he only seeks to have fun, drawing a hard line on the sand when things get a little too serious for comfort. Despite what the rumors say about him, Kellen isn't a player, only getting sexually involved with one or two girls at a time. He never does this with the intent to lead anyone on.

Man on a Suicide Mission
Kellen treats his own life with careless disregard. He is a motorcycling, train-jumping, wall-climbing, flirting-with-death kind of guy. Impulsive and addicted to the thrill of danger, Kellen gets himself in a lot of risky and potentially illegal situations. So far, he's still alive. A miracle, to be sure, although not one he's not exactly happy about.

Anti-Authoritarian
A nuisance to his teachers and other authoritarian figures in his life. Growing up, his teachers gave him a hard time in school. It destroyed his self-esteem and made him depressed. This only worsened his attitude against his teachers, who he now harbors a deep resentment for.

Though he may lash out with his words at times, he is typically silently defiant. He refuses to follow orders, living only by the rules he sets for himself.

A Talented Thief
It began when his dad became hard-pressed for money. Kellen started stealing small things—ones that would easily escape people’s notice. His crimes then escalated as his confidence grew.

Business-Savvy Smuggler
If you need someone to hook you up with some drugs or alcohol in exchange for some dough, he’s your guy. Kellen knows many of the secret passageways in Abernathy Hall, having explored them quite thoroughly the past year.

BIOGRAPHY

For as long as Kellen could remember, he was the problem child. The bad boy. That one kid in school nobody ever thought would amount to anything.

From an early age, he was convinced that this was his destiny. He grew up in an environment that was a stranger to love and laughter, becoming desensitized to his parents’ ever-present fury. They were the prime example of a toxic relationship that never resulted into a physical altercation. Though it might as well have. They got pretty close at times.

His only good childhood memory involved the trees, or any high place he could find a solid grip on. He would climb them and watch the world from above; it seemed a far better place than the one that waited in his home.

Kellen also struggled in school. None of his peers liked him. His teachers believed him to be intentionally disruptive. He seemed incapable of sitting still and following instructions; it was out of his control. For the longest time, he believed there was something inherently wrong with him. His parents had asked him what was wrong with him. And with no other outlet nor support to turn to, he simply embraced his delinquency. If you wear your weakness like armor, no one can hurt you.

As he grew into his teens, his rebelliousness started to charm people more than it did repulse them. Perhaps puberty had a hand in it too; regardless, it was a welcome change. Suddenly, girls wanted to be around him. Everybody wanted to impress the guy that was hardly ever impressed. Soon, he was dating the most popular girl in school, Katie. Even now, her name leaves a sour taste in his mouth.

How exactly did the perfect goody two-shoes fall for the delinquent? It was like something out of one of those romance books. Or a dark fairytale, depending on how you look at it. The princess was not perfect, after all. She was anything but. Then again, neither was Kellen.

Behind closed doors, they were explosive.

Like his parents, who were now divorcing, Kellen and Katie fought with a fury unmatched. Everything needed to be argued over. There wasn’t a day that they didn’t find something to be upset about. Yet, they clung to each other like two venomous snakes in heat—yearning, suffocating, consuming.

Meanwhile, his dad was consumed by debt, one fueled by his increasing dependence on liquor and hookah. His wife had run off with a new man, leaving the shards of her broken family to gather dust. Kellen had never felt more betrayed and forgotten in his entire life, though he showed nothing by way of emotion.

Life was a struggle because of his father’s unemployment and debt. It was up to Kellen to take matters into his own hands. Being 15 and reckless, Kellen couldn’t hold down a part-time job. When Katie offered him money, he refused. This left him with few options. He took the shortcut.

He began stealing. He started small at first, taking only what was necessary. But overtime, as he grew better, he also grew more bold. Greed got the best of him; and with the extra money in his pockets, he embraced his newfound addiction: weed.

It was around this time that he joined a band as its lead guitarist. There, he met the person who would soon become his best mate, a drummer by the name of Alex. It was he that introduced Kellen and Katie to marijuana, though it wasn’t long before they graduated to the harder drugs.

He grew addicted.

ONE MORE LINE AND I'M
SUPERHUMAN

II.

One fateful day—a day Kellen likes to pretend never happened—Katie cheated on him.

For some reason, the idiots had left the door unlocked, and Kellen walked in on his girlfriend blowing his best friend. Both boys came home with a black eye that day, but only one came home with the girl.

He seethed with resentment. Everyone up to this point had failed him in some fashion or other. Everyone had betrayed him. Overcome with heartbreak, he sought refuge in doing what he did best: starting trouble. He hung out with a new crowd that made a sport out of tempting death. They did all sorts of dangerous and illegal things, like jumping out of the way of a moving train, balancing on rooftops and concrete fences, speeding, mailboxing, you-name-it. In school, he was the guy you stayed away from. The guy who wouldn’t hesitate to start a fight if you so much as get into his space.

It wasn’t long before he was expelled.

Kellen’s mom heard about this, and for the first time in months she reached out to him, driven by a maternal instinct that had been dormant for so long. Come live with Dan and I, she said over the phone, You can go to a new school. It’ll be good for you.

But his father did not like this suggestion. He hurled a beer bottle at the door in his alcohol-induced rage, telling Kellen that he had betrayed him. I better not see your face again. Those were his parting words.

With nowhere else to go, Kellen moved in with his mom and her new husband, Dan. They had two children, both of which were equally spoiled and mean. They made a point of showing that they didn’t like their new step-brother, and Kellen made a point of showing he didn’t care. Meanwhile, Dan would always find an opportunity to lecture Kellen, believing the latter to be a bad influence on his children. The boy would always be excluded from family outings and vacations. After all, he was “nothing but a migraine and a recipe for disaster".

This was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Fueled by a rage like no other, Kellen threw a party at their mansion while they were away, inviting half the town to do the most decadent deeds. Dan came home to his house trashed and several of the family’s most prized possessions missing. Unable to defend her son any longer, Kellen’s mother sent him to boarding school as insisted by her husband.

And so Kellen was shipped to Grimsworth School like unwanted garbage. It seemed almost deliberate how it just happened to be the farthest and perhaps most secluded place in existence. They might as well have sent him away to Mars.

Except he didn’t last very long. Halfway into the school year, Kellen just stopped showing up to class. Everyone wondered whatever happened to the brooding boy at the back of the classroom. There were rumors aplenty following his disappearance. They said he was dead. Someone said he’d murdered somebody and gotten himself imprisoned. They were all lies, of course.

This year, Kellen is finally returning after a long break.

And he is back with a vengeance.

Music - Kellen has always been musically inclined and is fairly good at the guitar. This is thanks to the influence of his father, who is a washed-up musician.

Mints - Likes mint and mint-flavored things.

  • Born April 25th, on one of the many days of mourning in her nation’s history, Cyrus was the youngest of a set of twins. A pair that helped mend the divide between their mother’s family after her parents didn’t approve of the match of a lowly farmer.

In an attempt to watch their grandchildren grow, paths and bridges were mended. Yet, it was apparent that the rift still lingered between mother and grandparents.

The twins were taught the life of the farmer and sports fanatics for their dad; but, on the other hand, were dragged out too long tiresome dinners with the grandparents. Many on occasion ending in either sibling getting fed up with the formalities and pulling a little prank. Or several.

The pair was never apologetic in the slightest for their behaviour.

Charged with a newfound need to provide for the last hopes in their grandchildren, schooling was largely dictated by the older pair. Going so far as to blackmail Mr and Mrs Grey about reporting the nuisances that their children were. How a lack of parenting and guidance would boast well to have the pair taken into their care, leaving the couple to the hard decision of having their children boarded at schools to allow them to become prime and cultured individuals.

Many schools around Australia were the pair sent to in the hopes of settling them down. But the straw was pulled and the final die cast. At the beginning of their high school careers, they were accepted into Grimsworth without their first knowledge, leaving a foul and sour taste in Cyrus’s mouth.

This fueled a wave of anger towards her parents for not fighting hard enough, and her grandparents for abusing their rights and forcibly making her stray far from home. Something that started a wave of loneliness and longing within Cyrus. A feeling she’d never even mention to her brother.

Because even with her brother, Cyrus felt so abandoned and thrown away by that treatment.

The friends she made in the time attending Grimsworth became a sort of makeshift family. In times where family interfered with her returning home in the break (grandparents), Cyrus found herself often looking for someone to stay with over the break. She offered to work part-time to cover any cost of rent and food while staying there.

It allowed her to mostly bend her energy and anger, the bottled up feelings of angst into healthy outlets in her sport. Allowing her for once to have things slip away.
Even with the time passing, she found herself liking a guy… way out of her league. Too nice and probably too good her a girl like her. But her little puppy crush couldn’t be helped in the least. It wasn’t pathetic enough to be writing her journals…

    This isn’t a teen rom-com.

  • APPEARANCE

Cyrus is above average in height for her home country of Australia., standing shy of her twin brother’s height. Characteristically, she has a longer face, high cheekbones and cut jaw. Like her mother, she inherited the brown almond-shaped eyes from that side of the family.

Cyrus’s lips are full and equal in shape/fullness, often chapped. The vanity of beauty products and other rituals to keep herself clear-faced. Most of the time her skin looks rather weathered due to her intense love for her sport and the need to constantly be moving.

She has the characteristic brown hair like her older twin. Hers is kept long and often wild. More often kept in a windblown style.

Her usual clothing style seems rather gender-neutral. There’s one single band around her neck, that she wears almost all the time offering a choker-like look. It’s the only trace of colour to Cyrus’s clothing and colour palette.

Most of her clothing follows the line of browns, greys, creams, tan tones.

Cyrus wears mostly slacks and loose shirts hanging limp around her body. School is for the most part when she has some pop of colour in her appearance--largely, the red trim and accents from the uniform. There are moments where she wants to dress up a little more and explore style options. But then Cyrus finds that would take too much effort.

    PERSONALITY

Loud and boisterous is one of the best ways to explain Cyrus’s manner. She loves a good laugh. Her friends mean the world to her.

Wild and energetic, exceedingly loyal almost to the point it’s a flaw. Some could say her competitive nature is also a flaw. She feels the need to strive for the best rank. Something that could burn away the need to be seen by one.

Where Cyrus is confident and open with her friends, she openly lacks when it comes to talking with boys. Not many would know… But Cyrus is actually a virgin. It’s something she wants to save for the right time and moment.

Not that she hasn’t experienced everything. This girl is a part of the party scene. Just never felt comfortable being fully vulnerable in her body with someone else.

Cyrus has always struggled with the ideals of what a girl should be, given the family background she came from. Her mother’s side was rich and posh. Her father’s side were farmers from way back when. Rus has always been more comfortable dirty than glossed up and pretty.

Part of her deep down doesn’t feel like she belongs because of these feelings either. The progression of these feelings has been a more recent thing, given she’s finally showing some level of interest in intimate relationships. Or a boy.

A lot of Cyrus is hidden behind false confidences. The need to fill some void so far away from home. To be wanted and liked.

PERSONALITY

Even from a young age, Jasper has been a playful, energetic child who alway gets into mischief. From cracking terrible jokes to pulling harmless pranks. It’s not often people will see his serious side as it’s often hidden behind a playful pasona. Despite his energetic and at times loud personality, he is loyal and cares greatly for his friends and family. (Even if he tugs on their hair and teases them mercilessly.)

Jasper has always been a sporty type, likely something he developed from his father and all their roughhousing and game play, even watching his father at one of his games. It’s led to quite the competitive streak that can perhaps get a little too serious in the throws of a match, even in something as small as an innocent boardgame. That being said, he does try to remain lighthearted and playful.

BIOGRAPHY

Being a twin is like growing up with a permanent best friend who’s stuck with you through everything. Cyrus was Jasper's twin, second born of the pair, a fact he liked to tease her with whenever he could, it had been a running joke since they were children. Though back then it was usually something that ended in an argument than an attempt at proving who was bigger and stronger.

For as long as Jasper can remember, the relationship between his parents and his grandparents has been a rocky one. On more than one occasion he’d be stuck listening to the angry disapproval his grandparents felt towards his parents or just the sheer dislike they felt towards his father. Though they’re careful never to take it too far as their relationship is already on thin ice. Something he often heard his parents arguing about late into the night when he couldn’t sleep.

The family dinners they were forced to attend at their grandparents’ fancy home were always dreaded and in more than one case, it resulted in a prank that had his gran red with rage. (They’d destroyed a number of her valuable linen.) He never felt bad, even after endless lectures from his grandfather about how he needed to grow up and act like a man, set an example for his sister. It was exhausting.

It didn’t take long for their grandparents to interfere further, unhappy with how they were being raised, wanting a better education for them. In Jaspers opinion, they just wanted to get them away from their parents, why else would they put so much fight into sending them across the world to such a secluded school.

It felt like their parents didn’t fight as hard on their behalf as they could have. Their father was a well known football star in Australia and their mother had made quite a name for herself too, not needing to rely on her parents money anymore (though they liked to believe she did.) And yet, they were still sent away as soon as possible.

It wasn’t all bad. Jasper made quick friends and easily settled into his life away from home. More times than not, staying close to the school rather than returning home on breaks.

DAKOTA YAKAMA

BASIC INFO

Name:
Dakota Yakama

Alias(es):
Yak, Yaky Yak, Kota

December 30th

Year:
Senior

Height:
5'8"

Residence Hall:
Abernathy

Electives:
Team Sport, International Relations

Extra-curricular Activities:
Baseball

PERSONALITY

“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try” A motto Dakota could live by. Fear has never been a deterrent for him. In fact, he’s more likely to go towards danger then away. The bigger the risk, the better the reward. It was why he was often found in some high up place or trying some foolish new thing that could potentially get him killed.

It wasn’t just for the thrills though, not a lot of people would do something so dangerous, meaning it was usually peaceful and quiet. Perhaps on some level, facing down fears gave him more confidence to face down other demons.

He’s definitely a confident individual and has a lot of trust in his own body and its capabilities as well as an awareness of his own limitations (That doesn’t always stop him). He has a deep respect for nature and spiritual beliefs, and generally prefers outside then inside, he’d likely sleep out there every night if he could.

Although he has a potentially explosive anger, it's generally hard for him to get to this point, though it can be hard coming down from this point. Usually he has a dry almost sarcastic sense of humour that can at times be quite dark. He’s loyal perhaps to a fault, willingly going down with someone rather than turn them in. Parkour the best way to get around.

BIOGRAPHY

Dakota’s father left when he was too young to remember anything about him, leaving his mother to raise him and his younger sister alone. She was often forced to work multiple jobs simply to put food on the table and pay the bills. At times having to leave them alone while she worked, it was a paycheck to paycheck kind of life.

She was a stubborn woman however and never accepted help from anyone, determined to do it all alone despite her family reaching out to her. Offering their help, offering her a place back at home with her tribe. She didn’t cave until she got sick, when Dakota was around the age of seven. It was fear for her children's well-being that drove her to return home and finally accept her family's help and protection.

The Yakama tribe readily welcomed the children, despite their distaste for their father, a fact that had been clear since their mother had run off with him years before. They often referred to him as a Navajo, a thief. Dakota still wasn’t sure if that was because he’d taken his mother away. When it became clear their father wasn’t coming back, their mother changed that last name, giving them a small piece of their tribe and cut the last tie connecting them to a man who didn’t want them.

A lot of the years after that was spent learning about his culture and family, about the land and the peoples spiritual beliefs. Those years weren’t all easy, as he did search for his father for a bit, although nothing ever came of it. It lit an almost...reckless fire inside him (although he had always been somewhat of a wild child). After a few complaints and a brush with the authorities for trespassing and endangering himself. His mother sent him to Grimsworth in the hopes it may calm some of the wildness in him or at the very least give him a chance at a future of his choice.

Dakota sometimes thought the tribe had put her up to it, but maybe she just couldn’t handle him anymore.
