Books you like to read over and over again.

The Harry Potter series.

I'm legit surprised we didn't get more people saying this! Especially the 'middle chunk' of the series. That's good stuff.

Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs. I honestly haven't finished it yet, but damn I spent a lot of time just re-reading first chapters.

Once every couple of years, I pick up Red Dragon and reread it. It's one of my favorite books and I feel like there's always something to consider about it with another read.
I have also read Chronicle of a Death Foretold several times for the same reason, I feel like it just has a lot to think about and benefits from more readthroughs.
Pride and Prejudice because I enjoy the writing.
For a sense of comfort and familiarity, Agatha Christie's novels.

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, I easily read it a few times a year. It's my happy place book. And Prince Lir will always be my first crush.

"Marveling at his own boldness, he said softly, "I would enter your sleep if I could, and guard you there, and slay the thing that hounds you, as I would if it had the courage to face me in fair daylight. But I cannot come in unless you dream of me." - Prince Lir

You'd think with so many books in the world we'd read one and then move on, never to read it again. But some books you end up loving so much that you have to read it over and over. And on really special occasions, they're so good, you read it again immediately. This month in the Iwaku Reading Group our submission theme is Mystery and it got me thinking about how much I LOVE the Sherlock Holmes and how much I like to occasionally go back to read them again.

But if I am honest, my truest of the true loves is Howl's Moving Castle. First time I read the book I loved it so much, I didn't even put it down before I started reading it again. (You can imagine with the movie came out I was a fussy asshole about how they changed the whole story from my fav novel. Ò◇Ó I don't care how awesome Studio Ghibli is and how nice the movie was, that was NOT my Howl's Moving Castle.)

What is a book YOU like to read over and over and over again?
I LOVE Howl's Moving Castle! The book was so good. I tried to order the second and third of the series but I never had much luck. I did see the movie before I read the book so upon finally reading the book I was surprised at the changes.

The Hobbit. I lost my copy recently, so I'm planning on buying a new one. I'm itching to read it again.

Neuromancer and pretty much anything William Gibson's written is worth coming back to now and again.

I can't stop reading "the Illuminae Files" trilogy. It's just so pretty and well-made and HAS SUCH A GOOD STORY LINE someone save me. I haven't read any books after them just because every time I open a new one I end up abandoning it to reread Illuminae.

I've been reading and reading all of the Jack West Jr and Scarecrow series.

Harry Potter. I'll read the entire series maybe every other year, but Prisoner of Askaban is my favourite; I read that one so often my first copy quite literally fell apart in my hands. Other than that, I'll reread the Hobbit, the Belgaraid, Malloreon and their prequels, Howl's Moving Castle and Good Omens

This is a tough one... I loved Jean M. Auel Clan of the Cave Bear series; Harry Potter, DragonLance series, especially Time and War of the Twins; Raistlin was just so heartless and badass.... XD Then of course my History novels about Native Americans- too many to mention, Indian Captive was a great one, right now I'm re-reading the entire Shadowrun Series. I have so many favorites... My absolute favorite author at the moment is Sherrilyn Kenyon- the Paranormal Romance novels. <3 Love reading forevar.

The half orc and shadowcloak series by David Dalgish are good reads as well for people that like smaller books. They are highly detailed for their length but aren't for younger readers.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians. God I could never get tired of reading that and I always find something I never noticed the first time around.

I love to read Shakespeare. Best gift anyone ever gave me was a hard cover complete works and I've read that so many times the cover is coming off, but I love all of it. I also have several Agatha Christie books which I adore and will always enjoy when i pick them up. Same with Pride and Prejudice, which is just about memorized I believe. I also love Sense and Sensibility and Emma by Austen. When I was younger, I was addicted to Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew Mysteries (My grandmother gave me a subscription to the books for my birthday and I'd eagerly await the next copy every month. Also love Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes books. If I take the time to actually BUY a book, it get read over and over...the library is a great asset for weeding out the read once and walk away from the cream of the crop.

I actually just started rereading some of Brandon Sanderson's stuff, namely, his Stormlight Archives. I'd forgotten that I could reread these books as if they were new each time.

ps. please read them, they are good and Sanderson is a master with fantasy.
