Hey everybody; so if you've clicked on this thread, you're likely here for one reason; Star Wars.
I like Star Wars, you like Star Wars; we're practically best buds. And as we both know, the epic saga began with nine-year old Anakin Skywalker playing with his pod-racers on Tatooine dreaming of the day when he'd become a good-guy Jedi, only to brutally murder almost all of them years later while being manipulated by a tyrannical madman with illusions of grandeur, only to then wind up as a subservient half-robot killer who fights his own son and heroically sacrifices himself to destroy the very evil he served, only then to watch as years later his grandson makes the same stupid mistakes.
... What do you mean that isn't what happened?
All jokes aside, my point still stands; Star Wars is an epic tale that most of us have come to love in our lifetimes. I know it's huge for me because "A New Hope" was one of the first Science Fiction films I ever saw and the entire Saga (Prequels included) inspired me enough to want to tell stories of my own one day.
So with that being said; I've got some ideas for ya'll!
While I could go into stupidly massive detail with these plot summaries, I'll try to keep it simple since this is just an interest threat after all ;)
STAR WARS: Ruminations of the Force
The idea takes place after RotS, where, in a twist of fate, Anakin cuts down Palpatine rather than letting him kill Mace Windu. Anakin is celebrated as a hero of the Republic and soon learns that his nightmares would not come to pass, as Padme endures a happy and healthy birth for Luke and Leia. However, the truth behind Anakin's secret life and the revelation of a Sith Lord lurking under their noses puts the Jedi in an awkward place; do they accept the fact that Anakin betrayed the Code and allow him to continue his life as one of their order, or do they cast him out? And what of the Sith? Who's to say that Palpatine was the only one to remain, and why were the Jedi incapable of detecting him for so long? These questions and more splinter the Jedi Order into two distinctive groups; the Commune of Tython and The Je'daii Order. The Commune seeks to stick with their Code and follow the traditions of the Jedi as they have been for thousands of years, while The Je'daii seek to refine the morals and duties of the supposed 'guardians of peace' by focusing their efforts on bettering the lives of the people of the Republic and living without many of the restrictions enforced by the ancient Jedi Code.
But eventually, things took a turn for the worst when the Separatist leaders returned years later, causing the Galaxy to enter another civil war. But during the Occupation of Isis, a catastrophic weapon developed in-secret by the Separatists, the "Death Star", was seized by the Commune, who used it to destroy the Separatist-occupied cities on the planet before they proceeded to destroy the home-worlds of the Separatist leaders, effectively ending the war in a matter of hours; but only through the slaughter of millions of innocent lives.
Fearing that the Commune, blinded by their arrogance, had succumbed to the Dark Side of the Force, the Republic and the Je'daii Order banded together to stop them, but found they were all but too late. Though they were not Sith, the members of the Commune had become "Dark Jedi"; Jedi who were unafraid to use the Dark Side, but were acting on their own selfish desires rather than to preserve the morals they supposedly swore to uphold. The Je'daii and the Republic were of no threat and soon, both were effectively destroyed in what is referred to as "The Jedi Crusades". With nothing to stand in their way, the Commune convinced the Galaxy that the Je'daii had turned against them and the Republic had chosen to ally with the Separatists, thus giving the Commune power enough to establish a new government for the safety, protection, and supposed 'well-being' of the Galaxy.
Thus, our story begins; sixty years after the Commune's rise to power (essentially years before the Original trilogy would have ended/the Sequel trilogy would have begun). While some have effectively moved on from the devastation of the Galactic Civil War and the dictatorship that followed, others wish to see the day when peace is restored to the Galaxy and the Commune are subjugated to the punishment they so rightfully deserve.
We will be playing an assortment of characters from across the Star Wars universe (ie. Smuglers, Bounty Hunters, Pilots, etc) all tasked with one goal; to survive in a Galaxy where an armada of space-wizard cultists run the government. While I'm still working on the grander details, I have it in mind that we'll all be recruited (either by choice or by force) to aid somebody who isn't too fond of the Commune, but if this gets off the ground I'm sure I'll have a better idea of where the plot would wind up going.
Now onto the question I know you're all dying to have answered; are the Jedi all dead? No, they are not. Can I play a Force Sensitive character? Yes, you may. But I will be severely limiting their numbers to accommodate the plot. Think of it like the OT; there aren't very many Jedi publicly running around swinging their sabers all over the place and raising a scene.
But if you're interested in this, post below so I can get a total headcount. Likely odds are we'll start when we have about 3-4 players (not including myself). But I'm looking for people who are serious about this, who won't just up and abandon the RP midway through (though I get real life happens, I'd prefer you at least let the group know if you're not going to be posting for a while/struggling to get something done).
As well, I might set up a Discord server for the OoC if there's enough demand so we can have more stream-lined discussions and toss around ideas in a fairly casual setting (plus we can also do fun stuff like setting up playlists for the RP and such xD)
Anyways; if you're interested, let me know, and May the Force be with You!
