So, let's talk dream jobs... what's yours? It doesn't necessarily have to be super realistic (ie: corgi wrangler for the Queen) but it should be based in reality (ie: no unicorn wrangling). What is your dream job but more importantly, why is it your dream job? Are you trying to pursue your dream job through school/work/etc? Do you have your dream job already?

My dream job... As corny as it sounds is being a mom :) It's what I have wanted to do since I was a little girl and nothing in the world beats it :) Tho is would be nice if it came with a salary lol

My dream job is to be a musician or a musical educator. More the latter of the two. I've always wanted to pass on my knowledge of music or some form of art to the next generation.
Also, being an educator would allow a liiiittle bit of control of the next generation and maybe make them not as stupid as us millenials turned out. XD

Substance abuse/adolescent/marriage/family counselor. I don't know, or much care, where I end up in counseling. I just really want to end up in counseling! I'm leaning more towards substance abuse.

I'm currently a student studying counseling! I'm finishing up my last couple weeks of undergrad. I was thinking about taking a year off then going to grad school. I think it would be more beneficial to just dive in.

This became my dream job because I grew up watching addiction rip my dad's side of the family apart. It sucks.

I don't so much have a specific "dream job" as I have a series of conditions that would make for a really good working environment/career. So fuck you, I'mma list those instead.
  • Flexibility/control: You should work to live, rather than live to work. I'm aiming for a career path that gives me greater control over my time so I can actually get the most out of life, rather than being stuck in a fucking office all day.
  • Impact/meaning: Managing spreadsheets and selling insurance might pay the bills, but they don't always come with a lot of job satisfaction: I like the idea of finding a role that actually makes a difference in the grand scheme of things. I've sorta managed this with my current job (guvmint shit), but I'm looking to make the jump into private sector charity shit in the future. Greater control over the work done, and a greater impact.
  • Opportunity for development: The notion of a career you enter when you're 18 and leave when you're 65 has gone the way of the dodo and the notion of being able to afford a house before you're fucking 40. Like it or not, you've got to accept the fact that these days you're likely to have a number of quite drastic career shifts during your working life. This means I want to find work that allows me to acquire and develop skills that'll keep me competitive in the ol' job market as I go along. Getting complacent with it just isn't an option, these days.

I'm highly considering going into the IT field and maybe taking up auto mechanics. Those would be neat jobs to have

I WANNA BE AN ASTRONAUT

It's not realistic, but my dream job, is one where I get to use my creativity to make stories, and people who are good with computers/technology turn them into video games. I go; "Here's a story, make it happen." and they do. I don't even mind if they get paid a lot more, since they're doing the hard work.

I wish there was a way to get paid for cuddling animals. I love to hug, and pet animals. If I didn't think I'd get mauled there would be nothing stopping me from trying to hug bears, and lions, and tigers, and stuff like that too.

There actually sort of is a job to do this.

I used to work at a pet hotel/spa, which had "play times". So when you kenneled your animal you could guarantee they got at least 10 minutes of 1 on 1 attention with a person. So really my job was to play with animals. Not technically cuddling, but totally close enough, in my opinion. Play times were for any animal, but it was 99.9% dogs for obvious reasons. [Note: The job was actually playing with them. Dog walking was a totally separate job that I didn't do]

Anyway, I ended up quitting because they over-scheduled me (too many dogs, not enough playtime associates, animals couldn't get at least 10min) and also I got bit too many times. Damn some dogs just do not like people.... The worst was from a golden retriever. I have a scar on my hand from that. I've never looked at goldens the same since.

Surprisingly, all the "scary" breeds were the nicest.

Anyway, your mileage may vary, but the job title was "Playtime associate" if you want to try looking for something in that field. I got near minimum wage for it. You probably could never live off it but it was a good job for teenage me.

Owner and head of a game company. By that I mean I just tell other people what to do and they make the game I want to see.

I hadn't considered wanting to be corgi wrangler to the queen before, but now... hmm.

I wanted to be a pilot so much growing up but for Reasons™ that didn't end up being something I could continue pursuing.

But I'm kind of glad because I ended up finding something that I love and my dream job is now working with genes as a molecular biologist.

Most realistically attainable dream job is close to what I am now (corporate tax specialist/audit consultant who works from home) but with a pay-raise and less accountability. And never 9-5 hours. Never.

Actual dream job is being a pro-wrestler............ it's a medium to demonstrate artistry and technical excellence in a field to a large audience (and it's also not as cliched as actor, which is my more encompassing answer). Coming down a ramp to a badass theme song and then doing acrobatic flips off a ladder and breaking someone through a table seems fun MAN. Or channeling the Rock and trying to get an outrageous larger than life character over.

My dream job would either involve cats, writing, or both cats and writing.

>.>' If only my roleplays got me paid :'D Then those would be perfect for my dream job.

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind being paid to write fiction.

Honestly I have just always wanted to be a writer. There is nothing that would make me happier. It's such a hard career to make a name for yourself in, though.

I would also love to work for a game company developing lore. A few years ago I had the opportunity to get my foot in the door at Bioware (albeit just as a receptionist) but I didn't apply because I didn't think I'd get the job. I regret it all the time...

During school my dream job was to work at an animal sanctuary. It's still a possibility in my mind but they tell you really weird things to dissuade you, at least when you're young looking into the idea. They're like "You'll be working with poop!". Um, yes? I have 9 animals and my relatives work in nursing. I have seen poop. Poop is a part of life, what's your point? Have you had employees who thought poop was a thing that animals never do? But the job became less realistic when I figured in how close the nearest one is...

I'd like to be a concept artist, but again the places where that's possible are very limited in America. Basically LA and I hate dealing with big cities. It's just so exhausting to get anywhere. But I did find ArtStation a little while ago which is cool(relocation assistance omg yes!). I need to work on my pacing first though. The businesses prefer quality, but they really want speed AND quality.

Writer. It's a common one, but that's because everyone has a story to tell. Besides, there's something very romantic about making money from a creation made with your own two hands. I have three stories I am writing. I figure spray and pray the ideas until one sticks or I'll have three drafts to turn in. xD

At this point, I'll take just about anything even vaguely related to the art and media fields that I'm currently studying, so long as it isn't too hard on my spoon supply and doesn't leave me feeling completely worn-out and exhausted all the time.

That combination of factors -- being related to my interests and not being completely draining -- really is my dream job.

Hmm, probably being paid to travel around the world and learn about different cultures. I mean, I have a dream job I'm working towards right now- Art Therapy- but you know... I love nothing more than traveling around the world and visiting different countries. ^///^
