Hello folks! I love putting roleplay perks in the roleplays I GM. For me, they add an exciting element to forum roleplay that makes it extremely enjoyable. I come for your input on a certain perk; Recipes & Item Crafting. I am very curious to hear your input on this subject and would love it if you answered my scenarios below.

001. For each recipe there is a list of ingredients that your character must find and collect. What method of collecting the ingredients would be most enjoyable for you as a player?

002. Your character has successfully collected all the ingredients for a recipe. In order to create the item the recipe is for, what way would be most enjoyable for you?

003. There can be many recipes found in the roleplay. How many recipes would you want to have access to?

If you have any other thoughts about this topic, I'd love to hear it! I am asking you in hopes to refine the way I place this perk in my own roleplays. Thanks for reading!

When it comes to item collecting or task completion in a roleplay, I really love free-form. What I don't like is when a GM says "OK, go to the golden gates, cross them, go into the castle, and find the XX item on the second floor, third door to the right." When that happens, I just feel like I'm writing someone else's story from start to end. Roleplaying, to me, is meant to be collaborative and if a GM isn't willing to give me some level of literary freedom, I don't have nearly as much fun. So, maybe I DO need to get to the XX item on the second floor, third door on the right, instead of just telling me where to go, coax me in that direction and allow me to explore the roleplay in the pre-determined rules of the universe a little on my own, too.

Again, I think my answer would be the same as above. I'd probably be open to just about anything as long as I was allowed to have my character complete it in a more free-form style.

003. There can be many recipes found in the roleplay. How many recipes would you want to have access to?

I've always loved the idea of having multiple story-lines woven into a roleplay. For example, giving players choices (ie: you can go down the right path or the left path), but choosing one means that the storyline changes somehow by that choice. Think of it being described like a 'Pick your own adventure' book. That's exciting to me as a roleplayer-- knowing my character's actions are directly impacting the story. In this way, you could have countless recipes, as you call them, but not all would reach completion.
