[Private] Return of the Dragon Tamers Cast Development Thread

[dash=#800080]

WEEK THREE

+1+
What spells do you most want to learn? What spells do you want to avoid entirely?

"Spells...? You mean to say there are specific spells?--of course there are, but uhm, I don't really know much about them? So I can't really answer. I suppose I can say I would most like to learn any sort of spell at all. There."

+2+
What is scariest, to you, about mana? What is the most amazing?

"I don't particularly like mana to begin with. It's a big unknown. I don't think there's a reason to be scared of it. Perhaps there are means to use it and our connection to our dragon's mana fatally, but I know not much of that. The fact alone though that we can use mana, essentially magic, is astounding."

+3+
Do you think Merrik has the right to keep you from going home whenever you want? Is it fair that your life is the price to pay for mutiny or abandonment of the Order?

"For now, I suppose he does. We are an army, and he is our commander, though sometimes I feel like it's not a job he much desires. But I do think that in the case of emergency then he would be wrong to keep a member of the Order from returning to see their family. It wasn't our choice, really, to join the Order. It was more like destiny. We agreed to go, but it was sort of set in the stones of time that would.

And... my life would be a fair price to pay for abandonment, if I were abandoning the Order for good, anyhow. If my family were at risk, I would leave in a heartbeat, I think, to try and save them, no matter what the Order wanted. The heart is a weakness, and I know that, but I won't fight it."

+4+
If Merrik died, who would make the best replacement as a leader?

"I don't know. Terria, probably. I'm not sure if she has exactly what it takes to lead us into war, but she is better prepared than the rest of us. Even Goliath I do not think would be the better replacement. Terria knows more about the situation than we do, I suppose, and is very skilled with her mana. Even if temporarily, my money would be on her."

+5+
What do you most want to do with your power as a dragon tamer. You can make a difference, but which will you make?

"I... I don't know. We're saving the world from Ogual's taint. After that... I say I want to return home, but I don't think I do. That said, I don't know what I want to do quite yet."

+CHARACTER FOCUS+
AGLARES

+1+
What are your thoughts on Aglares? Have you grown to be fond of her, suspicious of her, scared of her?

"I haven't had a chance to know her very well. She seems to be supportive of us and our cause, and seems to have been a great help thus far, and so I am not suspicious of her, nor fond, and while I do not trust her incredibly so, I still respect her. Perhaps we'll get a greater chance to know more of her soon. She could make for a good conversation, maybe."

+2+
In your opinion, has Aglares earned the trust of the Order? Should she be allowed on the estate? Should she be allowed access to the libraries and meadow?

"She has earned Merrik's trust, and his trust is altogether the greatest trust that matters here. Right now, we are all under his command, and if he trusts her, then the Order does. Individually, it doesn't matter. So yes, I would say she belongs here. She deserves access. Not to my room, but if Merrik wants to let her in the meadow and his estate, then let it be."

WEEK FOUR

+1+
What are your thoughts on Queen Valaeria and her arrival here? How do you think the Order should respond?

"The Queen is... strange. I suppose she is queenly. Mostly, I think she is sticking her nose in too deep into our affairs. I understand why, but that doesn't mean I like it. She hasn't given us any cause to trust her as of yet, and so I believe we should respond with polite caution. There's no reason to disrespect her, nor to particularly please her. Let her see what she came to see, let us hear any offering she has to give, and then let her be on her way in peace."

+2+
What is your role, as a dragon tamer in the New Order, in the political world?

"Politics was not a part of the job description, if I may call it that, when I was recruited, if you could call it that. So, technically, I don't have a role in the political world.

On the other hand, it's going to bother me very much if I step back and try to ignore the role of diplomacy and standing in this situation. So, personally, I'll call it my role to do my best to help Merrik, and the Order, in navigating these waters, even though I don't quite know how. I have to start learning somewhere. It might as well be here. At the very least we have to put up a good front.

Besides, I have a feeling Aerarya would love being a diplomat."

+3+
If you were the ruler of a country in Illos and new arrived that the Order existed and was residing in a private estate in the North, how would you respond?

"Who is coming up with these questions?"

+Character Focus!+
AVREN

+1+
What are your thoughts on Avren?

"Avren is... he's a character. He's rather awkward, and not exactly the best at being social, but he's very sweet, and smart too! If you can get him to open up a little bit, he has some very interesting things to say. The conversation I had with him was probably the most invigorating one I've had in a long while."

+2+
What is Avren's biggest weakness and what are his biggest strengths?

"I talked to him once, but I don't really know much about him... He's a healer, so that's a strength, but he's not very good at being social. In regards to diplomacy, he's not an ideal candidate for talking to... anyone, really. He also seems a solitary person. Not a very good trait, when working with a team."

+3+
Do you think he's a useful asset in the Order, or could he pull his weight more?

"Right now, I think he's fine. Of course, we all need to pull more weight as we progress. But I don't think Avren will slack behind in his role."

What are your thoughts on Queen Valaeria and her arrival here? How do you think the Order should respond?

"It's scary. I- I- I don't know what she wants, and what if I say something really offensive, I mean, to a queen. How are we supposed to respond? I don't know.... I'm still trying to figure that out myself. Cause- cause what if I don't respond the way she likes and..." *Agni wraps her tail around Narien and pulls him back and away from the questioner before he blows a gasket.

+2+
What is your role, as a dragon tamer in the New Order, in the political world?

"I don't know much about politics. I'd rather leave that to Merrik and... them."

+3+
If you were the ruler of a country in Illos and new arrived that the Order existed and was residing in a private estate in the North, how would you respond?

"Oh gosh. I don't know. I've never even though of that possibility, you know? Erhm... what am I... supposed to say?"

+Character Focus!+
AVREN

+4+
What are your thoughts on Avren?

"He seems nice. And like a good tracker. That's about it."

+5+
What is Avren's biggest weakness and what are his biggest strengths?

"Uhm... he's a good tracker. I don't really remember seeing him fight much during the cave incident, and I haven't really spoken with him since then, so I don't know."

+6+
Do you think he's a useful asset in the Order, or could he pull his weight more?

"?"
True Heart
+1+
What are your thoughts on Queen Valaeria and her arrival here? How do you think the Order should respond?

"Her visit is a reality. Whether or not I, or any of the tamers should wish it to be such, she is here, and we must respond with discretion and decorum. I am much disquieted by her arrival. Whatever her intentions might be at the moment, she is a threat to us as we are no doubt to her. What transpires in her short stay may guarantee us an ally, change nothing, or garner us an enemy, and the Order is weak still. She cannot do anything to us when we lie so openly in the public's eye, but anything may tip the scale in the fight against Ogual. If we lose her support or gain her enmity now, we may have lost the war already. She is a wild card, and thus dangerous. And we are the same to her. Her arrival forces us to strike a balance - how much we show her before it makes us too vulnerable to her opposing what we may keep from her without threatening this still unborn relationship we yet may need."

+2+
What is your role, as a dragon tamer in the New Order, in the political world?

"The New Order is already a part of the political world. It became a part of it the moment the rest of the world became aware of its existence. Each of the members here have power, I believe - some of whom most certainly will not use it well. As I have said before, we are hope right now. This line we tread now with the Queen of Calidar, we shall also have to tread with the other rulers of Illos. If we are to win the fight against Ogual, we will need their cooperation, at the very least. We cannot appear to be surpassing their power, for we are naught but soldiers in some respect. No matter how much we may seem saviors to the rest of Illos, our autonomy is limited. We are not a country. We have not a people. We are meant to protect them from this power that threatens, but not to rule. Attempting to do so would threaten the rulers of all three countries. We must stay aware of our boundaries. And if we do defeat Ogual, how much more treacherous will those waters become. I refuse to hold a responsibility for the state of the Order in the political world. That must fall on the shoulders of our leader, Merrik, but I know better than to think I have no role. I will play this game as I can, because that is now what it means to survive."

+3+
If you were the ruler of a country in Illos and new arrived that the Order existed and was residing in a private estate in the North, how would you respond?

"I would do as the Queen of Calidar has done, and come to see them, evaluate their strengths and intentions before deciding how my country should respond to this new, strange power. If you wish me to sympathize with and trust her because she has done what I would have done in the same situation, you shall find no such sentiment here. It is precisely because it is what I would have done that I do not believe we can trust her. She may be careful, wise, and well-intentioned, I will make no judgment on that, but her country will come first. We may only be pawns in a game she seeks to play."

+Character Focus!+
AVREN

+4+
What are your thoughts on Avren?

"At first sight, I would say he epitomizes a fool, but he has his own abilities. He spoke not to me after the fight in the caves, and I have seen little of him overall. I remain uncertain as to whether this is by his contrivance, or mere chance. He interacts with the others fairly little as it is. A kind man, clearly, but quiet. Too quiet. He is quite similar to the person I have tried to portray, with perhaps less of the uncertainty, and as such I cannot help but suspect there is more to him than one might believe at first."

+5+
What is Avren's biggest weakness and what are his biggest strengths?

"His skill in tracking, firing a bow, and healing are highly valuable. More, I think, than perhaps he realizes himself. The knowledge I newly gained that he also has power over foliage also tells me he has much potential offensively as well as defensively. The quieter things of this world are often seen as nothing more than tools and materials, but I have seen them survive against everything we have thrown against them and crush mighty structures of stone. How interesting it will be to see what he does with it when he masters it. His weakness, though, would have to be his manner of bumbling around matters that require a little more social grace. When he spoke to the unicorns, he displayed a social ignorance that sets my teeth on edge. It may be charming and largely harmless for now, but I do not know if I myself would be able to trust him to understand the implications of everything he speaks, particularly with a major political figure in our midst. Perhaps I give him too little credit, though. He is... interesting, as are they all."

+6+
Do you think he's a useful asset in the Order, or could he pull his weight more?

"How should I know that? I have been here less than a week. You expect too much of me."

WEEK FOUR

+1+
What are your thoughts on Queen Valaeria and her arrival here? How do you think the Order should respond?
I'd like to say that her arrival didn't phase me in the slightest. But it would be a lie. When I first learned of the queens visit, I became nervous, and excited. She would be the first royal I've ever seen so close. However, my first reaction was perhaps less to her presence and more to the discomfort her posse brought to my dearest of companion's. I hate to feel Yumiru in such a position. It angered me at first. After talking with her in a smaller group. She seems nice enough, but she has a presence behind her smile that doesn't let anyone forget just who she really is, no matter how kind she acts.

+2+
What is your role, as a dragon tamer in the New Order, in the political world?
I hope not much. I did not know something so stressing, and yet something so boring could exist in perfect harmony before. I dislike it. It turns my insides into a bundle of nerves, but dosent give me same rush of adrenaline that I would seek. Leave it to those who are better at it. I'll just bite my tongue and try not to be a hassle.

+3+
If you were the ruler of a country in Illos and new arrived that the Order existed and was residing in a private estate in the North, how would you respond?
I think I would want to gain more information. But perhaps I'd send scouts ahead to scope the possibility of danger before I came into direct contact. A wise hunter knows his prey before he seeks it.

+Character Focus!+
AVREN

+1+
What are your thoughts on Avren?
I haven't had much of a chance to interact with him. But I've heard that he can track and I've seen his bow. Perhaps he to enjoys hunting? With what I've observed he knows his way around a forest.

+2+
What is Avren's biggest weakness and what are his biggest strengths?
What I've witnessed of his social encounters, I'd almost wager to say he's worse at it than I. As for his strengths, like I mentioned prior, I've heard he's an excellent tracker, and apparently the healer of the order? Perhaps I should ask him to teach me a trick or two? I wonder just how good his skill with a bow is.

+6+
Do you think he's a useful asset in the Order, or could he pull his weight more?
I wouldn't know for sure. I haven't been here long enough to tell. I'd like to think that everyone contributes as much as they can.

WEEK FIVE

+1+
What are your thoughts on Kuhl? Do you agree or disagree with the decision to reclaim the city? Why?

"I think it goes without saying that I deeply support the decision to reclaim Kuhl. The forest cannot be taken, and we must establish a line of defense. Kuhl will be a great asset to protecting the forest garden and Sylvis both, provided we manage to take it back successfully."

+2+
How do you feel about the new tamers (Aris, Aiko, and Illyria)?

"The new tamers worry me... All I can truly say is that I hope these are the last of the newcomers Merrik and Terria will be bringing to us. They are our biggest weak points. They don't know mana, and they can barely fight, if at all. Apologies for being so crude, but I don't wish to babysit while fighting for my life. We already have to think of the men and women aiding us in battle, who have no dragon to defend them. I don't want to have to decide between their lives, and the lives of the Order."

+3+
What are your thoughts on the level of preparedness of the Order? Do you have any particular worries or concerns about the strength or structure of the group?

"As of the entry of the newcomers, we are largely unprepared for Kuhl. Every moment of this month will be needed to even try to bring them up to our standards, and more. The elder tamers are not strong enough to make up for the lapse in strength."

+4+
What impression did the People of Dragons leave you with? What role do you think the Council will play in the war?

"Well... at first, they made me quite nervous. I have never sat in a room filled with so many powerful people. But what was most stunning was how mortal they all seemed. I assumed that their superiority would be established quite early and would be felt quite strongly throughout the meeting, but instead I was shocked with how ... equal ... we all were. I... Well, I enjoyed the meeting.

I suppose those men and women will play a strong hand in the outcome of the war. We have dragons, but they have political power and the support of the people. Nobody will go to war for us, but they will fight for their king or queen or leader. Without them... we couldn't possible make it.
"

+5+
What do you think is your greatest weakness? How do you think you will overcome or adapt to these weaknesses, if at all? What impact do you think they will have on the Order as a whole?

"I have been struggling with combat, melee in particular, for some time. My skills with a bow are adequate, but I cannot defend myself from an assailant in close range with an arrow. I learned a few basics at the monastery, and Narien has promised to show me some of what he knows, but I still find bladed weapons unfamiliar in my hands. My body feels awkward moving in such ways. Hopefully the Stallion Tribe will make the difference in being a perpetual novice, and being able to defend myself effectively."

+CHARACTER FOCUS+
GOLIATH

+1+
What are your thoughts on Goliath?

"Goliath is... Goliath. Strong man, with great physical prowess. But I don't know him much."

+2+
How important do you feel Goliath is to the overall success of the Order? Could the Order win this war without him? Why?

"I do not want to say any one individual in the group is more vital than any other, but with honesty in mind, I do have to say that Goliath is one of the fundamental pieces of the Order. Perhaps we could win the war without him, but as it stands he is one of our strongest, and is well rounded. But he is not all important--it is as a group that we are strong. We balance out each others weak points to become a cohesive whole."

WEEK FIVE

+1+
What is your first impression of the Order?

"That it's amazing! I really wanted to see the dragons when word first went around, and, well, I got to see them alright. The Order is something right out of my dreams. Strong, spirited people ready to fight for Illos and defend the people... I'm in love with it. Of course, not everybody here seems to be the hero most people imagine... But I'm sure they all have their merits."

+2+
Are you excited to be a part of the Order? Why, or why not?

"Do you need to ask? Who wouldn't be!"

+3+
Does fate have a role in your future? If so, what role does it play?

"What a peculiar question to ask. I suppose some part of me believes in fate and destiny. It paints a pretty picture, one that makes reality easier to bear. But I think it only plays the role of security. Knowing our future can make it easier to live in the now. But... It does make me curious, also."

+4+
What motivates you? Will your goals clash with those of the Order? Where do you think there is dissonance between yourself and the other tamers?

"I'm not sure what motivates me, but whatever it is, I doubt it will clash with the Order's motivations. If Ogual needs stopping, and I'm a part of the Order, I will do what I can to help. Hopefully there's no problems between me and the others. I don't think there are, anyhow."

+5+
What do you think is your greatest weakness? How do you think you will overcome or adapt to these weaknesses, if at all? What impact do you think they will have on the Order as a whole?

"Uh, well, I don't really know how to fight, and everybody else seems to. Even Aiko seems to know a thing or two. I have watched my brothers practice, though! It was very... Uhm. Yeah. Maybe I can help without being on the front lines?

I'm sure Merrik will teach me something useful that I can do to help. I just hope my inexperience doesn't drag everyone else down.
"

+CHARACTER FOCUS+
MERRIK

+1+
What is your impression of Merrik?

"Merrik? Oh, he is charming, isn't he? At least, he was when we met. For such a powerful man, he seems awfully gentle and personable. Though I'm a little scared to see him in a battle, or something like that. Men change when they fight. I have no doubt a person like him could transform quite easily into a monster for the sake of his people. I did hear a little bit about about that poor girl, Shirin..."

+2+
Thus far, do you think Merrik is qualified to lead the Order? Do you trust him to lead you into battle?

"He certainly seems capable to me, and trustworthy too. I can't see a reason not to have the same faith in him that the others do. He must have earned it, considering how strange a following her has."

[/dash]

+1+
What are your thoughts on Kuhl? Do you agree or disagree with the decision to reclaim the city? Why?

I completly agree with it and I do not believe into entering a defensive war. To me a defensive war would seem like a war of attrition.

+2+
How do you feel about the new tamers (Aris, Aiko, and Illyria)?

Illyria seems smart, curious and willing to learn and listen. She is making a fine addition.
Aiko is a bit frightfull, but I will keep an eye on her and try to make sure she will remain fine.
As for Aris? Who exacly are you speaking of? The name seems familiar... but???
What was the question again?

+3+
What are your thoughts on the level of preparedness of the Order? Do you have any particular worries or concerns about the strength or structure of the group?

I think that the order would be ready to fight in some certain circumstances, not in all, weither or not it could fight a war? I am not sure... My biggest concern are the ones without dragons. I have yet to learn purification properly and I expect to heal and cure as many from it as possible after the battle. The casualties might be high and I wonder if I could prevent some by practising purification magic and weaving a shield around a portion of soldier, so they would not be able to fall to it.

+4+
What impression did the People of Dragons leave you with? What role do you think the Council will play in the war?

I feel as if there is a split between the nations. The successor to my king was absent.

GOLIATH

+1+
What are your thoughts on Goliath?

I am in love with him. I truly want to... uh... take him to places and do things... but he would never notice me... I think.....................................

+2+
How important do you feel Goliath is to the overall success of the Order? Could the Order win this war without him? Why?

I think he is the most experienced in combat and warfare of us all. Merrik seems as if he was struggling at times, the apologetic affection in his eyes to Kalona, yet never mentioned, never touched. Not saying that he is incompetent, just to why I think that Goliath is the more experienced one on those things.

WEEK FIVE

+1+
What are your thoughts on Kuhl? Do you agree or disagree with the decision to reclaim the city? Why?

"I feel confident about the decision. It's settling to see the powers of Illos joining together with the Order and making moves against Ogual. This war has been stale from our end for far too long. It's a risk, no doubt, and there are a thousand things that can go wrong. But it's a step in the right direction. I've faith in my tamers."

+2+
How do you feel about the new tamers (Aris, Aiko, and Illyria)?

"Concern is my first feeling. But when I start to worry too much about their lack of ability, I look at the other, more experienced tamers, and remember how far they've come in a mere four months. If they survive, they will grow more powerful more quickly and this will ultimately give us the upper hand. I'll have to spend a large portion of my time during this battle just watching their asses and making sure they don't get trampled or burned, but the experience of battle will urge a stronger learning curve than the meadow ever will.

Beyond that? I know little of them. I cannot form much of an opinion beyond my first impression and as far as that goes, well, Aris certainly failed to impress me. However, Aiko and Illyria leave offer no disappointment in character, as it stands."

+3+
What are your thoughts on the level of preparedness of the Order? Do you have any particular worries or concerns about the strength or structure of the group?

"This is a bit difficult to answer, because we can always be more prepared. Four months is hardly sufficient time to prepare for war. I'm most particularly worried about the dragons and tamers failing to coordinate. We've had several small battles now, but this will be much more cramped. Thousands of soldiers will fight alongside us and tens of thousands against us. If tamer and dragon cannot coordinate, it may result in a severe number of casualties. After all, unleashing fire burns all, not simply the foe, and landing beasts can crush more than the enemy's toes. I can picture a thousand ways for tamers and dragons to get hurt without proper coordination. I only hope Illos's biggest asset doesn't fail due to lack of communication."

+4+
What impression did the People of Dragons leave you with? What role do you think the Council will play in the war?

"I have worked with numerous members of the People of Dragons over the years and I have yet to be disappointed. My respect for the council is absolute. They have proven valuable in the past and will continue to do so throughout the war."

+5+
What do you think is your greatest weakness? How do you think you will overcome or adapt to these weaknesses, if at all? What impact do you think they will have on the Order as a whole?

"My weakness lies in my lack of experience with battle. I can lead, but can I lead during war? The battle at Ylandre showed me my weakness, my failure to thoroughly think things through during a time of death and destruction. I only hope I can be on my toes this time around to prevent unnecessary deaths. I need to be able to think as critically on the battlefield as I can in my study. I believe experience is the only thing that will help me and as I grow into a stronger leader, it will be that much more difficult for any foe to defeat the Order. I must learn to serve the Order, doing my duty as commander, so it might serve all of Illos. "

+CHARACTER FOCUS+
GOLIATH

+1+
What are your thoughts on Goliath?

"Goliath has earned my utmost respect. I would lay down my life to defend the man who has defended Illos, the Order, and his honor time and time again."

+2+

How important do you feel Goliath is to the overall success of the Order? Could the Order win this war without him? Why?

"I feel Goliath is well on his way to being a keystone player in this war. He is powerful by nature, and holds a great deal of training. If he can develop his mage abilities more carefully, he will quickly become as valuable to this Order as even I. I have much to teach, but so does he. If he can excel in mana, and combine it with his training as a warrior, I would feel confident passing my leadership to him, should any harm befall me. However, prepared as he is as a warrior, he is not yet prepared as a tamer for such a role. I will be monitoring his training very carefully over the next several months.

Could we win the war without him? Yes. Because each member of this army has proven their strength and their ability to step up when the time comes. This has nothing to do with Goliath's presence or absence. However, I cannot forgo stating that he has prevented numerous deaths and will likely continue to do so."

What are your thoughts on Kuhl? Do you agree or disagree with the decision to reclaim the city? Why?

"I support the attack on Kuhl, but that does not mean it is in any part a perfect decision. We are making the first move because we cannot afford to wait for Ogual to do so, but this leaves us exposed to many risks. Should Ogual choose to turn his attention to Galidus instead, sacrificing Kuhl with very little fight, he will find no resistance there. We may retake Kuhl only to find Ogual's area of influence has expanded. And even should he choose to stand and fight, there are many things that stand in the way of our victory. That only we dragon riders know the use of mana, that we have no way of reversing the plague, that those infected are superior to those who are not, that we in the Order have as little time as we do to prepare. These are all factors that may lead to our defeat in the end. This battle is a very risky gamble that we can neither afford to lose, nor take many casualties from. If another tamer dies we will only be that much more disadvantaged."

+2+
How do you feel about the new tamers (Aris, Aiko, and Illyria)?

"I know very little about all three of them, as they have not been on the forefront of my mind the past week or so, but I will say that more newcomers has both its advantages and its disadvantages. We need as many tamers as we can get, but even those of us who joined a month ago have more experience than them. They are a liability simply for their lack of experience and training, even more than Requiem, Aislin, and I are, though perhaps less so than Reverie. I almost wish we could leave them behind at the Tetra estate for at least this battle at Kuhl. For now, I cannot predict whether these new tamers will become an unexpected strength, or get us all killed. I shall be curious to see how this... Illyria grows during the course of our training together."

What are your thoughts on the level of preparedness of the Order? Do you have any particular worries or concerns about the strength or structure of the group?

"We are nowhere near as prepared as I should prefer. I would kill to get just another second, another minute. Any time not spent training is time wasted. If we were all soldiers, as Goliath is, I would not have this worry. But we are not. Few of us have real battle experience, and a couple I would not trust to know how to hold their own in a fight at all. We need rest before the battle so we arrive fresh, but that self-same word takes on quite another, less pleasant meaning with how many of us are now. What I would give for an extra year and ten more tamers. We are few in number, and woefully unprepared. Our overall strength concerns me the most, and the structure is just yet another worry in a long list of them. This shall be the first time I see Merrik organize us to fight. Will his decisions be wise? Will we be equipped to follow them? Many questions arise when one stops and thinks about it, but even that I have hardly any time to do."

+4+
What impression did the People of Dragons leave you with? What role do you think the Council will play in the war?

"The People of Dragons seemed... as I would imagine any council. Majestic, clever even... but I am not yet certain trustworthy. We have great need of the Council's continued support. Without an army, we will certainly fail. Beyond that, it is impossible to predict what role they will play, though I have no doubt they will play a greater one than might be anticipated... or hoped for."

+5+
What do you think is your greatest weakness? How do you think you will overcome or adapt to these weaknesses, if at all? What impact do you think they will have on the Order as a whole?

"The foremost of my weaknesses, many though one might argue they be, is my lack of experience, both in the style of fighting a war employs and in the use of mana. Time and hard work will be the cure, but I'm afraid only one of those is available to me in any abundance. The best that can be hoped for is that it has as little impact on the Order as possible."

+CHARACTER FOCUS+
GOLIATH

+1+
What are your thoughts on Goliath?

"I have made it no secret that I believe Goliath to be the most capable soldier among us, but beyond that I do not know what more praise or censure he warrants. He is clearly strong and seems normal enough to be moderately comfortable with social interaction and mentally stable, which is more than can be said for some of our number. I would also warrant he is a noble man, driven by obligation and his sense of honor and compassion. I find it difficult to imagine him as a liar or cheat. That is all I will dare speculate at present."

+2+
How important do you feel Goliath is to the overall success of the Order? Could the Order win this war without him? Why?

"Could the Order win the war without him? Yes, it is possible. But he provides us not only with his battle prowess and knowledge, but also with his connection to the Queen of Calidar. We could, perhaps, survive without him, but he is a greater asset than the rest of us can claim to be."

What is your first impression of the Order?
'' I'm terrified, to be honest. I didn't even know about the threat ahead but... now I kind of worry for my life and wonder if humanity actually wants to put their faith on me? I mean... Let's be honest... I'm not a warrior like Merrik or Goliath or even Terria for that matter. "
+2+
Are you excited to be a part of the Order? Why, or why not?
" Definitely not. From what I saw, I got Reverie on my case and most people look at me like I'm just gonna be a burden. i mean... i didn't even ask to be here??? Well, anyways. At least I got a dragon now... So that's a good thing? "
+3+
Does fate have a role in your future? If so, what role does it play?
" I don't believe in fate or destiny. But if you ask about my future? I see myself alive. To be honest, that's all I care about at the moment and the only reason keeping me in this order. I'm kind of stuck here cause of that psychotic ***** of a Reverie. Ah, and Jav'va. She says It won't be good and I will surely die. I trust her so we'll see... after the battle. "
+4+
What motivates you? Will your goals clash with those of the Order? Where do you think there is dissonance between yourself and the other tamers?
"My motivation... Staying alive... Finding out about Osiris... Maybe learn to read and write? Narien offered to teach me! At least there is one good guy in there that I get along. I mean, you should see us. We are idiots together man. That guy is freaking amazing and hilarious! Love him dude! " Starts laughing

What do you think is your greatest weakness? How do you think you will overcome or adapt to these weaknesses, if at all? What impact do you think they will have on the Order as a whole?
" My greatest weakness in the order... I guess... I guess it will be my mistrust towards everyone and my own selfishness... I don't really understand everyone in there nor did I really bond with anyone of them (besides my man Narien!), but I guess I'll overcome it ... at some point. I mean, I really made myself a fool and embarrassed myself in front of those two pretty girls... Illyria and Aiko... And Merrik and the others around but whatever... I blame Jav'va for that. Her approached sucked and I don't understand how everyone was so calm. I really didn't get that.... Anyways, what was the question again? "

What is your impression of Merrik?
" Ah..... Merrik.... He is cool. I mean, he didn't do anything wrong to me... But he really acts like a snob for some reason... or-or more like someone self-rightful for god knows what reason. Like dude... pull your nose out of your ass..."
" You are jealous! Stop acting tough! "
" Shut up Jav'va! Stop saying I'm jealous of him! "

" HAHA! "

+2+
Thus far, do you think Merrik is qualified to lead the Order? Do you trust him to lead you into battle?
" Hell no!!! He will be the death of me. I don't know him, I don't want to know him, he lives like a rich dude and wants us, little soldiers, to fight for him. Like hell no! I ain't anyone's soldier! I'm the boss of myself! "

What is your first impression of the Order?

"Overall, things are a mess, especially from what I've seen. I've seen rough crews come together before, and while this particular group is pretty rough, I think it's safe to assume we can work together. Assuming of course that we can keep from killing eachother first..."

Are you excited to be a part of the Order? Why, or why not?

"Excited might be a bit strong of a term to use, but overall, I suppose you could say I'm... Interested in it. It's certainly a break from how things used to be for me, more exciting, but also incredibly taxing, and significantly more rigid than I'm accustomed to."

Does fate have a role in your future? If so, what role does it play?

"Fate is an interesting topic. On the one hand, I believe that there's a guiding force that's directing our lives. Whether you call it fate, or the gods, or the spirits of the world, something is guiding us. However, we're in control of our own actions, fate guides us, but we make the decision."

What motivates you? Will your goals clash with those of the Order? Where do you think there is dissonance between yourself and the other tamers?

"Motivation... You know, I can't say as I have any true motivations. I just kind of do stuff and hope it doesn't end up with me dying. I mean, I have goals, sort of, but they aren't motivations. Nothing I have in mind will really clash with the others though I don't think. That being said, there's a whole heaping load of dissonance between myself and the others. I mean really, I have nothing in common with any of them excepting Kalona, and she and I aren't exactly the best of friends."

What do you think is your greatest weakness? How do you think you will overcome or adapt to these weaknesses, if at all? What impact do you think they will have on the Order as a whole?

"My greatest weakness? Pride probably. Or wrath. Or... I dunno, I mean, I have a lot of weaknesses. I am just human after all, even with the bond. There's only so much a person can do to deal with weaknesses of the mind. I've been trying of course to consider the views of others, see the whole rather than focusing on details, that sort of thing. Introspection is a wonderful tool. Hopefully not much, but we've already seen how it's impacted how the others see me due to issues with Kalona."

What is your impression of Merrik?

"Merrik is... I don't know really. On the one hand, he's well trained, but he lacks the actual experience to properly lead a ragtag group of misfits. He's cautious, moreso than I would expect for someone who knows that we're on the losing side of the battle. I even offered him a crew of fairly well trained pirates, but he's too focused on his rigid military. Now, in my opinion, isn't the time to be turning down aid, regardless of where it comes from. Still, he's the boss.

As a person, I don't really know him that well, we've barely spoken more than a few words to eachother, and those weren't in the best of circumstances. He seems decent enough I suppose, but he's always distracted. He needs to learn to relax a bit I think."

Thus far, do you think Merrik is qualified to lead the Order? Do you trust him to lead you into battle?

"Qualified? Certainly. Trust him? Mostly. Like I said, he's well trained, but he lacks experience. I heard the order lost someone recently, and it hit him pretty hard. I don't know the exact circumstances, but I hope that it was a learning experience for him. No matter how well you plan, something will always go wrong, and it's important to be able to adapt. I just hope he can when the time comes."

(You can delete this if you want, but please note) On the Evening theme I can't read many of the posts that have colored text in them. I suggest that in the future you look for colors in this guide to color your text. Otherwise anyone who wants to change their theme to Evening or lighter can't read your posts for information. ^.^ Have a good day.

Thanks for the heads up. Because this is a private thread for players in my roleplay I don't tend to worry about if outsiders can read it or not. Should my players raise the concern I would oblige and alter the colors but there's been no issue so far :) I appreciate you taking the time to post the advice though!

War is upon us. Having spent time in battle against Ogual's forces, do you still believe the Order stands a chance against the dark lord?

"I can't afford not to. War is war, and so long as we don't give up, there's still hope. So far, things aren't so bad, but there's something coming, and I'm not looking forward to it."

Who do you like the least? Or, who do you know the least? What are your thoughts on them?

"Right now? Honestly, I expected to say Kalona. There's still a lot of bad blood, but... We're working on it. She's hard to hate when you're around her I guess. No, if we're being honest, it's Narien. I don't know why, but the more time I spend around him, the more uneasy I feel. It's getting to the point where I go out of my way to avoid him if I can. If there were a worm in our midst, I'm pretty sure it'd be him."

Having spent some time with your dragons, how do you view your life from here on out? You risk this new life every day, discuss how this makes you feel.

"It's my life. What happens in it happens. I don't really have a choice in the matter, and I live with it as it happens. As far as risking it goes, I've been doing that since I was a child. One way or another, death's always been an option."

Having been bonded for some time now, how do you feel about your apparent future? Is being a dragon tamer going to make or break your life?

"As I said in the previous question, to me, it's a life. I feel better having my bondmate in it. I'm glad to be able to make a difference in this war, however small it might be. As for the immortality thing, well... I can't say I'll always appreciate it, but for now, I'm looking forward to the time I have."

Having been dragged into a war you didn't plan to attend, what are your thoughts on the process and the Order as a whole?

"I might not have planned to attend it, but that's mostly because I wasn't expecting it to be as dire as it really is. Had I known, there would have been at least one more ship attacking from the side. I won't sit idly by and let the world fall to some jackass."

WEEK SIX
Questions!

Kibran Group
+1+

Much has happened in recent weeks. What do you think of Merrik's decision to send half of the tamers to Kibran to work alone, under the authority of Narien? Did he choose the right person to lead the team?

+2+
Which mayoral candidate looks most promising to you? Why?

All
+1+

Bren's arrival has been a rather unexpected turn of events. What do you think of the man? Should the Order be wasting time trying to restore his memory? Should he be trusted?

+2+

The war is moving in favor of Illos. The next few months will be crucial in determining the results of this war. What do you believe should be the primary area of focus over the next few months?

+3+

Your bonds have changed. You went through a traumatic and trying time and your bonds have forever been altered by the will of Fate. Explain how you feel about where you are now, as a tamer. Explain what your bond has become, criticisms, areas of pride, unique features, etc. What sort of a tamer do you hope to be at the end of all this? A healer? A humanitarian? A political leader? A historian? A warrior? A keeper of peace? What is your bond to you?

Character Focus
Merrik & Terria

+1+
Terria has obviously gone through a lot. When she wakes up, everything could change. The Order could lose its most powerful mana user. What role do you think you need to play in how things go for Terria after she wakes up?

+2+
Merrik and Terria have been a strong support for each other for a long time. The pair have been through so much, it's no surprise that the events of the last few weeks will effect them greatly. Do you think their relationship has been a strength or a weakness to the Order so far. What do you think it will be in the future?

+3+
Merrik has changed a lot over the last few weeks. The taking of Terria by Ogual, the loss of Dalaith and now Goliath, and the event with the shadow overcoming him at Kuhl; what are your thoughts about your leader at this point, after everything that has happened?

-1-
My caution drives me to distrust this man. He gives off an aura of "hey trust me", he could very easily become a spy and I am very sure that it is similiar to my own soothing mana. How can I trust a man that claims to not remember? What if he is but a tool for Ogual to gather information on us? He is one of the reasons I choose to keep my newfound mana a secret.

-2-
Hmm, asking me like this, I would have loved to have an overall explanation to the situation. In detail of course, but generally with Khul taken we have a fortress in the west. The next step should be to work towards reclaiming Otamur and to establish a forward operation base there. It would be a lot easier to watch visible movements thus forcing him to use more of his tainted mana on invisibility. It will also be significantly easier to plan an attack onto his fortress.

-3-
Honestly... I do not know where I want to go after the war. Maybe I will return to Otamur, claim it as my own and rebuilt it all while seeking out the princess, the true heir to Galidus. It would remain a protectorate under my control for a while. Then again, I would not want to become a ruler. Another option I have been considering is to venture to places where the mana is stronger, refine it, practise and to become a powerful mana user, never to get involved into wordly affairs. In this case I would also seek ways to create an oath, similiarly to Merrik's so that I may never be capable of bringing chaos.
The last option that has been on my mind is to remain at Merrik's side. Supporting him in any way I can.

Character Focus
-1-
With the loss of Goliath, I believe that I should attempt to assume more responsbility. Goliath used to be somebody capable to aid and lead if necessary. Having him lost hurts and it would hurt us even more, should Terria lose her mana capabilities. Admitted, I have given up on my archery in favour of mana usage, simply because I believe that I can do more with it... and I have been enjoying using it a lot more, so I would try to fill these needs. I think I would be able to do it, I can keep my calm and remain responsible and I like the usage of mana. I have also been focusing on practising with it specifically. I doubt that I could measure up to either of them but I hope it will be enough at some point and maybe, one day, I will be able to surpass them.

-2-
Hmm, I have never really thought about it and made an opinion on it, but being asked... well, I guess it was as much of a weakness as it was a strength. I am sure Terria remained and could withstand the horrible torture that was forced on her because of it. I am glad for it, because this allowed us to bring her back to us. At the same time, it made Merrik vulnerable, emotional and irrational... but this vulnerability became a strength, too, and allowed him to form bonds. He is a stronger person because of it.

-3-
My relation with him used to be rather platonic... now though, I feel a lot more connected to him and the order. Before I followed the chain of command, now I wish to support him to the best I can. It is honestly not something I have experienced before, yet it adds more reason for me to fight.
