Whether we are writing a roleplay post or creating a bio, a character's appearance is really important. The basics like hair color, eye color, height etc are the starting boards for what we picture when we read what this character is doing. There are a LOT of little details that can go in to a character's physical appearance. When you express them in writing, you should always slip them in one at a time so that you aren't flooding the reader with useless stats - and are instead slowly building a picture and developing this mental image as they read.
In this exercise, you are going to be detailing out the appearance of your character's BODY FEATURES.
Pretend your character is standing there naked before you! Describe only what is their physical body. You can jot these down as a quick list for a biography, or write up a fancy description where you slip in the details without sounding like reading off a list of statistics.
Here are some things to describe:
- Hair Color
- Hair Style/Length/Texture (widow's peak? bangs? soft? fine? thick?)
- Eye Color
- Shape/Look of Eyes (eyebrows, cat eyes? sleepy eyes? wide eyes?)
- Shape of the Face/Head (cheekbones, etc)
- Mouth
- Nose
- Chin
- Ears (shape? piercings?)
- Hands
- Feet
- Chest and Hips
- Boobs and Penis
- Height
- Weight
- Skin Color & Complexion
- Race/Species
- Skin Texture (Soft skin, rough skin, scaly, furry, dry, bumpy)
- Fur/Scales/Other? Colors? Feel? Coarseness?
- Body Shape/Build (Thin and lanky, round and fluffy, pudgy, muscular)
- Posture
- Distinguishing Features (that set them apart from others or might be unusual or special)
- Tattoos, birthmarks, scars.
