"... Splendid. Just fucking fantastic."
Well. This was certainly new.
It was one thing when Grell had claimed to be from 1888, just five years off from the year Ethan claimed to be from, but then as the others around joined the fray and added in their two cents, it gradually became stranger and stranger. 2013? Sherry did look rather young for someone who carried herself so assertively. A girl with the face of a child, but the experience of a woman. It'd make sense if she were older than she looked to Ethan, if such medicine from her time had perhaps preserve her youth. Trevor, on the other hand, was quite a shock, at least, even moreso than Sherry. 1456? Wallachia, even?
"Fucking 1456... Right. I guess a fur coat like that would have certainly stuck out if you were walking around in London. I guess it figures to call it Wallachia then in that case... if not Romania," Ethan sighed, finding all this to be somewhat distressing, not having the same sensitivity about being someone from the perceived future as Theo. He could only hope that this was all some sort of elaborate joke, even if it would have been in poor taste. But as time continued to pass, the likelihood of that decreased more and more in the man's eyes. Was this just another dream? No, the mannequins firing at him... That was certainly real. He certainly couldn't dismiss that there was some greater force at work here, perhaps even beyond Dracula and maybe even Lucifer himself. Such a thought, Ethan didn't even want to entertain, but he had to be prepared for the worst case scenario at every turn, or else he'd end up in pieces.
Ethan winced lightly as Theo seemed to casually mention fighting werewolves, having an even stronger reaction to that than him mentioning he had run-ins with beings from the 1700s and... 50 years into Ethan's future, and on top of that, actually coming from another 70 years further. What the hell was even going on now?
"Well, you know what they say about wolves... There's bound to be one in sheep's clothing among the herd. If the thing that's out to get us back at that over there door happens to be a werewolf, let's hope that we can put it down like a dog before it does the same to us," Ethan said to Theo, letting out another breath as he tiredly ran a hand through his hair. If there were any fucking vampires around though...
With that, continuing to follow the group, he let the others reach for the knife in the fireplace, figuring that others would probably need it before he would, before it suddenly burst into flames! He quickly moved to pull Grell back, even if she'd already been burned to some extent, taking her by the shoulders for a brief moment. Ethan gave a deep scowl toward Chucky as he threatened Grell wantonly, but before he could say anything himself, it appeared that the midget (or... doll, at this point?) was caught into an unsavory exchange with the unsettling girl calling herself Jack, among some of the other... flashier characters around.
While waiting for the others to go down the ladder first, Ethan took Grell's hands into his own, feeling for any wounds or notable burns.
"You alright, Miss Sutcliff? Guess we really should be careful, no matter where we are in this godforsaken place," he spoke, attempting to maintain his composure. After all, if he were to lose that, he'd lose himself entirely, so he had to take care at all times.
"The devil certainly has his finger everywhere, huh..."
